In particular, when you're using servers on the LAN, there's absolutely no reason you'd want to use limiting -- or if you do you'd want at least to set a very high limit, far higher than that of most people's Internet connections. At the minimum there should be an option in the site manager under each individual site's settings to be able to bypass the speed limiting that you could enable as needed (IMO a per-site setting is the most universal and useful way rather than an option to bypass on LAN addresses in the main settings as there can still be times where a limit might be needed.) Ideally I think there should be a per-site setting so it could be adjusted to deal with more finicky servers or bad routes (such as when dealing with some servers overseas) for instance. Sometimes a more universal setting just doesn't apply to some.

It's really annoying having to change the setting back and forth every time I switch between using FileZilla for transferring files through the network (I find that sftp is the nicest way overall for me to deal with file transfers to/from my cellphone and tablet in particular, but also it's more convenient with my server sometimes since it can queue a long list of assorted things whereas drag and drop via SMB gets messy if it's not something you can select all at once.) If I'm uploading online I need a limit obviously, but when transferring through the network I'd rather squeeze every last bit of speed I can out of it instead for fairly obvious reasons. (It's pretty unlikely anything realistic will max out my LAN's bandwidth after all...)

When FileZilla asks to download an update, the downloading view is cropped at, i guess, 80% width.

It's not a big deal but i guess not something hard to fix.

Very similar to ticket # 8870: I download v3.7.3, and start the installer. There's a pause, and then an error message pops up stating "You must be connected to the internet to complete your installation. Please connect and try again."

Of course I'm connected - I just browsed to the filezilla-project.org website and downloaded the client, demonstrating a working Internet connection, so I'm not sure what the issue could be. I've attached a screen shot as requested in ticket # 8870.

The ANY version should maybe say,

and the ALL version,

(I believe that "Filter out" is better rendered by "Nascondi" (Hide) than "Nessuna corrispondenza trovata" (No match found), since it is describing the action that FileZilla will undertake).

It seems that the speed calculation Tooltip upload/download speed values on the very right bottom corner overflows sometimes (~every 5th time). There is no correlation to the files in queue or upload/download operation - no error logging.

I am trying to transfer the binary file from the remote server to my local directory by dragging and dropping it.

The original file has size 1,855,488 bytes, the resulting file has size 1,855,392, as also reported by filezilla itself.

The file is the binary SQLite database.

File is always transferred with the same discrepancy (subsequent attempts produce the same wrong version). The file in question didn't have any extension (no periods in its name). There is 'Default transfer type' option in 'Settings' which was set to 'Auto'. When I selected 'Binary' there, the discrepancy disappeared.

Another, smaller, SQLite database (290,816 bytes) was transferred correctly. It had a period in its name, but no recognizable extension.

So I believe that filezilla wrongfully defaults the type of file without extension to 'Ascii'. When the type of file isn't known, and 'Auto' is selected, it should default to 'Binary'.

Hello, i was editing a file directly on the server without a backup on my system after editing this file i clicked save adn closed it which it will ask if i want to save the file back to the server i clicked which i approved but immeditely i approved my system went off and after restarting my system i realized the file had been broken and the contents werent complete, please i dont have a backup of this file on my system only on the server and all the files are gone i need an urgent response.

Awesome new feature to automatically download updates to FileZilla, however, instead of in the user'sDownloads folder, the archive ends up in Documents instead. Only a minor nuisance, but still I think this should be corrected.

Steps to reproduce:

• Hide local directory tree
• Show remote directory tree
• Enable directory comparison
• Chose "Yes" in the dialog asking to enable local directory tree

Result Local directory tree icon is marked as hidden, but directory tree is shown.

Remarks It also works the other way round, by swapping local and remote tree and icons.

I've used Filezilla for many years, but after today's update (to version 3.8.1) I can't connect.

All goes well with my username being accepted, but when it gets to password, the response in green says "530 login authentication failed" and a red message appears "Critical error. Could not connect to server."

I've tried shutting down Filezilla and starting it up again, but always the same message.

The last 2 versions of FileZilla have downloaded to the wrong directory. (3.8.1 & 3.9.0) When a new version is available, I get a dialog stating that a new version is available and has been downloaded to my Downloads folder. This is not the case. Instead the versions are being downloaded to my Documents folder.

I would expect the archive to be downloaded to my Downloads folder, since this is where everything else ends up. (preferred) Or I would expect the dialog to tell me that the downloads are in my Documents folder.

After updating to 3.9.0.1, pressing the Tab key no longer stops in the local or remote file list, when the directory trees are hidden. The caret moves from the Local site: address immediately to the Remote site: address. When the directory trees are shown, the caret will stop in the file lists.

same bug as ticket #9658 installed newest 3.9.0.1 it crashes the display driver every 3-4 clicks with the mouse. Then it recovers itself and you can continue using Filezilla. Error has to do with the Filezilla version 3.9.0.1 program, not the display driver. Even though you rejected the previous ticket.

Tried to find an older version, but not yet succesful.I am sure that will also solve the problem for me, but it is not my ideal solution.

Often, when I intentionally quit the application, an error message says "FileZilla quit unexpectedly".

i recently upgraded to 3.9.0.1 and then 3.9.0.2 version. when i start downloading using filezilla, my screens turns black i.e. flickering starts and sometimes i get memory dump error too. earlier i was using "FileZilla_3.8.1_win32-setup.exe" file and it was working very smooth. but with upgrades 3.9.0.1/3.9.0.2 versions, unable to complete my work.

Hi, Today when i remove a folder on a sftp server (ssh connection) the remove takes a long time, and its doing file by file removal. Even though its safer and a way to let time for regret, there must be a button for instant remove, for the people that do that on purpose.

removing folder with ssh is simple as one command.

I'm trying to download 132MB size file from a server. Half way i'm receiving this error.

Unable to read data from the transport connection: A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

Please add in a feature that will alow me to store a list of my servers online. Every time I have to install FileZilla I have to reenter my list and I think it it would be much easier to allow your users to login to an account and retrieve all of the servers they have stored online from any location.

Hello, when using the Automatic Transfer Mode FileZilla corrupts *.jar % *.rar files with no extension. I think FileZilla removed the CR (only one was present). He tried to repair things where no repair was needed. Using the Binary Transfer Mode fixes this.

When I open any of the accounts on my site manager, my screen goes black and then the message "display driver stopped responding and has recovered" appears. If the browser is open, it looks like the second page on the attached pdf, untill I close it and open it again.

This also happens when I click on a folder, download or upload a file.

The line:

memcpy(pBuffer + 1, &eventDateHigh, 8);

Should be

memcpy(pBuffer + 1, &eventDateHigh, 4);

as eventDataHigh is a DWORD.

(No harm done, as the extra memory is overridden in the following line)

This is used in GNOME and KDE software installers to add the application description and some screenshots. We'd love to showcase more applications, but without the extra data file we can't. The AppData file needs to be installed to /usr/share/appdata/ on Linux and the basename needs to match the .desktop basename. It would also be great if you could integrate the file with your translation system (e.g. intltool) to make the descriptions translated.

I supposed to be doing a new feature request but I saw that many others already did this request, one of them 8 years ago!

the ticket number #2591 are supposed to be fixed but this feature are still not yet implemented on the last version I am using (3.9.0.5 - windows).

Steps to reproduce:

• connect to a server
• on the local side (left), select a few folders
• right-click and upload

Expected result:

• for each folder, it should OBVIOUSLY first create the folder, then upload the files.

Observed results:

• for each folder, systematically, the "put" command to upload the first file in the folder is sent BEFORE the mkdir command to create the folder. So, unless the folder already existed on the server, that file upload gives an error and is not uploaded.

ALSO, whenever a file gives an error it should be kept in the queue so that you can retry!!!

This level of unreliability make FileZilla completely unusable. You have to check all the files one by one, because there may have been any such random error and you wouldn't even know.

I think this is a regression. I have used FileZilla for ages and had never seen such a thing before.

Hello. Here is the scenario. In the remote directoy the file that I want to download is being builded (an sql backup) and the size displayed for Filezilla Client is X. then when I note in the SSH terminal that the dump has been finished, I proceed to download with FileZilla client, and the issue here is that Filezilla uses the size of the file detected the last time reviewed, and not the final size (then an incorrect file size is displayed in the progress of the file that is being downloaded).

I have a phpbb site and how can I connect to the site directorie?

I have Filezilla 3.9.0.5 x64, but the automated update installed 3.9.0.6 x86. Also my current version (3.9.0.5 x64) won't be uninstalled during the update process.

It's annoying that the cursor now starts in the "Message log" box instead of the "Host" box.

I just updated Filezilla to the latest version and since then it has not been possible to fully connect to my FTP server.

After upgrading to the latest release, I am now presented with a Unknown certificate dialog window. The 'Always trust certificate in future sessions' is disabled and cannot be selected.

Although I connect to the requested site by just clicking OK on the dialog page, transfers fail with a response message of: 550 The supplied message is incomplete. The signature was not verified.

Prior to upgrade, I was able to connect and ftp files to the requested site without problems.

I tried un-installing and then installing the latest release, but still have the same problem.

With the new update, the program started to show security certificate warnings and couldn't connect to the server. (It tries but times out.)

No idea what is causing it, pretty sure it is introduced with the last release though.

Everytime I try connecting to a mediatemple server. In the last release of FileZilla everything works fine.

I'm having trouble with editing of files. When I open Filezilla, and edit a file, no trouble. If I close that file in the associated application, then try to edit again through the Filezilla interface, I get an error that reads: "The file myFile could not be opened: The associated command failed."

myFile is the actual path and filename of the file I'm trying to edit.

I'm editing with Notepad++.

If I close Filezilla, and reopen, this error clears, but the process starts over - it only effects re-editing of a file that has already been edited.

Updated to version 3.10.0.1 and after updating I cannot update our business website because it says it not connect to the server. I had no problem updating our website with the previous version which I think was 3.10.0. I checked with the server and the server Tech support says the problem is with File Zilla and not with the server. This is urgent to get fixed as we have wrong information for customers on our website.

FileZiilla client 3.10.0.1 refuses to connect using (non-secure) FTP. It always requests a TLS connection, making it imipossible to connect to servers that do not support this protocol. Trying to force FTP using ​ftp://hostname does not work.

I updated filezilla to latest and cannot connect to half of my servers. This happened to me back in 2013 once but you guys fixed it pretty fast.

After trying the lastest installer it is nothing but malware FileZilla_3.10.0.2_win32-setup.

The problem is that 2 years ago I had to delete my main profile in Windows, as administrator, the profile which whom I instaled Filezilla. Now I have the whole administrator privileges too, but since the version 3.10.0-beta1 (2014-12-03) I am not able to update because to install it it ask for the profile that I used to install the first time. I get the message "You may not have the necessary permission to use all the features of the program you are about to run.... "If I try to do it from my actual profile, it says that "Filezilla has been previously installed for all users... Please restart the installer with Administrator privileges." So I AM IN A LOOP!!!

Please, help me please, because it is one of my most used tools as a webmaster!!!

Since the last upgrade I can no longer get a directory listing on my websites. I also got a Server Certificate message. My ISP has said other FileZilla users have reported this and that it is related to the Active or Passive setting on FTP Transfer mode :

Looking in FileZilla there seem to be 2 places to set 'Active' or 'Passive', in the Overall Application settings and in the Connection-specific settings.

Loggin in hangs at this point. Looks like people are saying to change an FTP setting in site manager, and that works, but I want to be able to access my 2 sites the old way -- using the quick connect bar.

If this can't be resolved quickly, how can I download the previous working version (people are complaining about the last TWO updates).

What do I change in settings to make it work again?

Like others since upgrading to version 3.10.0.2 my connection to server times out. Failed to retrieve directory listing. All settings are correct as I'm using them with Smart FTP at this time. I still have the previous version on my home computer and it works fine.

Before this versions, everything was ok during a year.

I made the mistake of upgrading the FileZilla client this morning and now I get nothing but errors when attempting to connect to my server and upload files. I get certificate warnings when I connect to the server. I get recurring "421 too many connections..." error messages, followed by "Could not connect to the server". When I can get connected, the process of getting a directory listing from the server is incredibly slow. If I do get a listing, then attempting to upload a file goes nowhere. I'm running the server of WinSSHD 5.02 on Windows 7 Pro. After the connection is established, the files/folders retrieved from the server have permission 000 (hence not able to write anything to the server). It was working all fine before upgrading to the latest version of FZ client.

In latest version 3.10, I do not see any directory when connected. I also get a not connected error. I checked the connection from Site Manager and got a notice of an existing connection and whether I wanted to restart etc. The top of the screen show the connection to the proper IP, but the right panel says not Connection.

Hello. I got an update recently which messed up my secure FTP functionality. As such, I installed the previous version of Filezilla client (btw, with one slip of the finger I was "rewarded" with extra software that was extremely annoying and was quite difficult to fully uninstall, nearly malware. I guess that's how Sourceforge rolls now, probably not your fault.)

Anyway...because of the above, I tried the feature where in Settings... Updates you can choose "Never". This apparently doesn't work. Now I'm nagged every single time I use the program. And yes, I already know that there was some fix that deals with secure connections, so I might try my luck and see if the program works again for secure stuff.

So I'd call it non-urgent priority, even though it's super annoying. :)

I'm unable to run any version of Filezilla products (Server and client) on windows XP (earlier it was possible without any problem) and get an error that it isn't correct 32-bit application. Please correct it, do separate version for 32 and 64-bit systems and modiffy requirments that it would allow to run on all versions of Windows

I would like to suggest version control features be added to FileZilla in the future. That would be awesome.

I get a virus alert from Norton when I try to download either the client or the server file.

When I attempt to install the client v3.10.1.1 I receive the following error and the installation fails:

Upgraded and now get the error "Failed to retrieve directory listing" from MediaTemple servers. Most others I get the same error but I have one that will work.

I have recently upgraded to the latest version of FileZilla Client and it seems that there is a bug when it comes to uploading images. Since I had upgraded to the latest version, all images I upload to my server has been detected as corrupt. It was fine before the upgrade.

I did a test and when I use the server web uploader, the images are being detected fine and I can use them. When uploading with Filezilla, the images turn out to be corrupt.

After i installed the 3.10 version all my passwords was base64 encoded. Now i can't connect to any server in the list. Passwords are longer than before.

How can i retrieve my passwords? I'm trying with base64 decoder online. But it doesn't work. If i re-set passwords manually it works. The problem is that i don't have all my old password's clients. Anyone can help me?

I am also a victim of latest released version of Filezilla FTP Client 3.10.* bug which totally crashed/changed all of my FTP account informations (nearly 100 +) stored in the SiteManager.xml file encoded with base64 secure password mode from normal insecure mode and also changed each/every encryption mode to Use Explicit FTP over if TLS available.

I have seen lot of tickets raised by so many users regarding the latest release version bug and response/reply provided by Filezilla Development team for the tickets showing their irresponsibility, inability, incapability and inexperience in handling/ providing a solution for the reported issue. Also trying to escape from the issue without providing a solid/concrete solution.

Why wouldn't the process of automated backup of SiteManager file not being included for each and every updation of filezilla FTP client. If it is included or available which keeps avoiding many complications occur after updation and also easiest for the users to revert back to working version using the backup-ed version of sitemanager without spending so much time in research process after updation and waiting to hear an permanent solution from your end which never going to happen.

Since upgrading to v3.10.3 Filezilla has become slower and slower when connecting to my two main servers

It connects and then hangs on 'waiting for welcome message' after about 40 seconds it then displays the directory - once connected, switching between the directories is rapid, but as soon as it needs to reconnect (or upload a file) there is that long delay.

Both servers are running Centos 5 Linux - I have tried using both normal FTP (unsecured) and FTP with TLS, neither make a difference.

The problem was exacerbated in v3.10.3 (the previous v3.10 was not quite as bad), so I have had to uninstall the program and revert to an earlier version

I want to change the Timeout setting to '0' but every time I save the setting with '0', next time it opens automatically with '10'. Other than '0' every thing else can be saved. Pls check this minor but annoying bug. Attaching the screenshot for your reference. Look forward to your prompt support.

When opening existing sites on site manager if there are too many sites, there is a caret at the bottom of the list and by clicking on it other sites are viewed. Here is the feature request; I'd like to be able to scroll down via mouse wheel to see other sites. Thanks in advance.

If I connect to a webserver, and browse to any remote directory, all subsequent connects start in the last directory browsed. the setting in Default Remote directory is ignored. I have to quit the filezilla client and reopen in order for the setting to work.

I would expect that a connection would connect to the directory specified.

2. browse to any other remote folder.

if you save a new server to the manager with (3.11.0.1) all passwords of all saved servers will be broken! This is crtitial decidedly not just for me.

Inside the appdata/remote directory, with "Hidden" checked and applied in Local filters in "Directory listing filters", no files beginning with .[x] is displayed.

For example, Minecraft stores its files in appdata/remote/.minecraft and yet even with Hidden files enabled, that directory does not appear.

Please see the comprehensive screenshot attached.

Currently, the workaround is to type the known directory name directly into Local Site directory field. The problem is, you must be able to see the directory names you need to access.

It's logged in successfully but 95 % times it's got failed to retrieve directory listing. The problem was not available till version 3.9.0.6.

your install process is very unfriendly since it installed mackeeper which is by the way malware, onto my computer with no previous warning. If you'll state that there's an option to clear the auto install please include a screenshot and let me know how clearly was it stated?

If you need money why don't you charge for your software? I'm willing to pay rather than be screwed. I will, most definitely, spread this info like an ebola virus in a contained space throughout every forum I'm registered to. Hopefully filezilla will become a thing of the past which is a waste of talent. It had a great future.

When I open the FZ client, it tries to connect by default to the local site that it had last connected to, say
Machine1

This is great, except for one day when Machine1 stopped responding - I could ping it, but I couldn’t connect to
Machine1 in Windows Explorer or by Remote Desktop. The problem on Machine1 was not caused by FZ, it was because Machine1 didn’t have enough free CPU and RAM (Machine1 was OK after our tech support restarted it the next morning).

However when I opened the FileZilla client on my PC, it tried to connect to
Machine1 and so FZ froze. I couldn’t find a way to stop FZ from trying to connect to
Machine1 and ended up re-installing FZ.

Please provide a way to stop the FZ client from trying to connect to a local site. Or at least put a time-out of, say, 10 seconds. I’m using Windows 7.1 (with the latest Win Updates, and anti-virus updates); file log was not enabled so I don’t have any logs to send.
