I updated my program last night and I have not been able to connect to our server since. I am using the same settings and access type as before my update. Each time I try to connect I get two errors.

GnuTLS -15: An unexpected TLS packet was received. Could not connect to server

I haven't changed anything in my credentials or log in information. I am unsure as to why the program will not allow me to log in.

Client version is 3.10.0.1

When started the debug level is 0. Go to Edit -> Settings... -> Debug section. Change 'Debug information in message log:' drop-down from '0-None' to any other, eg '1-Warning' Click OK. Changes applied then. Bot they are valid only for current instance of the client. If you exit the client and start it again the debug level will revert to 0-None

Also there isn't any key to store the value in %appdata%\FileZilla\filezilla.xml

The issue is reproduced both for fresh installation and for upgrading.

In version 3.10.0.1 any existing sites defined in site manager are now set to "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available" instead of whatever settings were previously in use. To clear up the issue they must go toe Site Manager and change the encryption back to the previous setting.

This is causing many problems as users can no longer connect to sites that were previously defined and do not support encryption.

I am running Windows 7 64 bit. Here is the information from "about"

Site Manager dropdown list of sits to connect to doesn't scroll nor does it expand sideways into multiple columns. it doesn't fit vertically on my 1440x900 screen. the menu has some sort of disabled control at the top. but I cannot view or select any of the bottom 7 or so items at the bottom of the list. they are not visible and cannot be reached.

This bug is same as Ticket #9542.

Operation steps:

When browse the FTP directories, if the directories' name is Chinese words, and double click someone directory in the file list window, then the "remote site" and the "directory-name" of remote-directory-tree are all show "Unrecognizable Code".

add a FTP site in Site Manager window, use the DEFAULT setting (NOT do any setting) for the character-set: Auto check.

When I set character-set to "Use the custom character-set" [set the value is: GBK] in Site Manager, and re-do the above operations, the "remote site" and the directory-name of the directory-tree are all showed the correct Chinese words.

So.., I guess the issue comes from the function of Auto-Check character-set.

(My environment informations of the server and client are all in the Ticket #10096)

When I try to overwrite a file (either because I'm uploading a file that already exists on the server, or the other way around), I get the following notification:

An assertion failed! ./src/common/dpycmn.cpp(119): assert "n < GetCount()" failed in wxDisplay(): An invalid index was passed to wxDisplay

After clicking continue (twice), the up/download seems to further work as expected.

I think this was introduced when switching to wxWidgets 3, which was done with FileZilla 3.9.

I am using FileZilla 3.10.0.2 on Arch Linux x86_64, and there is at least one Arch user that has the same problem (​report). There is also a ​report from a Debian user with the same problem, also with FileZilla 3.9.

I have a site, with a bookmark in my site manager. I wish to delete the bookmark but am unable to do so.

After deleting the bookmark, its information is still displayed in the main area of the site manager. If I then click OK to save changes, or if click another site in the list, I get an error message "Site Manager - Invalid Data: You have to enter a hostname", and am unable to do anything else, except hit cancel, and revert the bookmark deletion. All of my other sites do still have valid hostnames, so I am not sure what the error is referring to.

Thus, there is currently no way to just delete a bookmark, without deleting the entire site it is attached to and then readding the site.

That is about it, I installed the upgrade and came up with a blank list of FTP sites when I opened Site Manager.

I saw one ticket on this but it was marked resolved...

Filezilla is opened and a connection is made to my remote server. I CMD-click multiple files and click EDIT (my editor is Text Wrangler on Mac). All appears fine except some of the files are not opened. I re-select one of the files that did not open and click EDIT again which produces "Opening failed. The file <filepath> could not be opened: The associated command failed." Repeated attempts produce the same error.

If I rename the file from Filezilla (and even rename back to the original filename) then Filezilla will properly open the file.

When I try to create a Custom Filetype Association in the settings, FileZilla strips out the space when I try to specify

php "/Applications/Sublime Text.app"

. I get a pop-error window which reads:

(As well as other variations without the "-open") Interestingly, double quotes and double backslash got VERY close.

Since there are work-arounds (I believe), this is not a barn-burner. It may be a documentation issue, I just have not able to google an answer that works.

BTW, cut'n'Paste is very quirky /and/or not working in this settings dialog as well as the error message window.

...Wait a minit! Now the double quote double back slash does not preserve the space. I swear it did-- Is this related to the cut'n'paste issue? I must be loosing my mind!

I have just installed the latest version of FileZilla. When I attempt 'Site manager - connect' I get error messages: Fails to retrieve directory listing & Not connected to any server.

Apologies if this has already been reported - but I couldn't find anything when I did a search.

Anyway, after the latest Filezilla update to 3.10.0.2, a server I transfer files from has numerous files of over 2GB in size (a PVR with an inbuilt FTP client) - however - should there be a problem and the file needs to be resumed I am told in the message log that "Server does not support resume of files over > 2GB". Prior to the latest Filezilla update, there was no problem transferring files of any size - the server that the files are being transferred from has not had any software changes prior to or after the latest Filezilla update. The previous version of Filezilla that was installed was 3.10.0

Autoupdate works fine except that it places the finished app in the Documents folder. From memory it indicates it will be in the Downloads folder, but really it would be preferable if it went directly into the Applications folder, but would then have to handle replacing the current version or keeping both

Since upgrade to version 3.10.0.2 connection to server times out. Failed to retrieve directory listing. All settings are correct as I'm using them with Smart FTP at this time.

I have noticed a problem when I move files from a workstation on the network server, the data transfer will stop frequently when there is no longer one second remaining. This arrest may take up to 90 seconds, but usually shorter period of Time. If I transfer files from the server to the workstation so the same problem does not exist. Why?

Client and server are on the same home network (192.168. ...) And the number of simultaneous users is not.

Running Server on Windows7, client of Linux Mint 16.

I once transferred files to and from c:/This/That directory.

Now when I reconnect Linux -> Windows the Windows file tree is 'stuck' at c:/This/That as the root (/) of what can be seen.

Entering the name of That's parent - ie This produces an error saying that This is not found as a subdirectory of That.

Using .. leaves me only at That, not This as I had hoped. Thanks for any and all advice and assistance. Cheers

The local file listing takes about a second per item in the folder to show up when I browse "local" VPN folders. Filezilla is the only program that seems to have this problem browsing my VPN drives. When I browse local or LAN folders the speed is normal.

I just downloaded the latest version 3.10.0.2 and it wouldn't work. My ISP worked on the problem for a long while today and finally called to say that the new version doesn't authenticate with a PLESK Web host.

Seems that there is an error in the last version 3.10.0.2

When there are 2 or more files to upload in queue, the first file is uploaded successful but the upload of second file and the others fail.

I tested upload the same files using other ftp client (Core FTP - ​http://www.coreftp.com/ ) and all files of queue where uploaded without error.

I attached a txt file of Filezilla log with the error message.

If I download the FileZilla version from the filezilla-project.org website (through Source Forge), that works fine on my computer. That is version is 3.9.0.6. However, when I install it I get a message saying that there's a new version (3.10.0.2). If I upgrade to 3.10.0.2, suddenly FileZilla times out after the MLSD command.

Here is the information I get when trying to use version 3.10.0.2 that results in a timeout:

I did some searching around online and found lots of people saying that MLSD timeouts might be because there was a problem with my router. I tried logging on in several different locations with different routers, and I still have the same problem. Not to mention, it works fine using version 3.9.0.6.

I'm at a bit of a loss now and the only solution I've found is to stick with version 3.9.0.6. I'm nervous that there will be another upgrade (beyond 3.10.0.2) that will cause me the same problems, but I will no longer be able to download 3.9.0.6 from the website.

Every time I close FileZilla, I get "File 'C:\Users\Rich\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\filezilla.xml~' couldn't be removed (error 0: the operation completed successfully.)"

It's mostly a nuisance, but it's unclear to me why this transpires, and error success seems like incorrect behavior.

I have uploaded to my server the following html file ​http://mapage.noos.fr/mecitoyen/france/ROUAGES/livre.htm When I then accessed it, either by Firefox or by Internet Explorer, it was displayed in what appeared to be chinese or japanese characters. In the source code, I noted that the original line-breaks had been replaced by a character represented by square with four tiny characters, in it.ⴀ䔀儀唀䤀 I downloaded the file back again, through Filezilla,onto my PC, and the result is like my original file except it dispolys line-breaks had been replaced by a character represented by a thin vertical rectangle.The source code contains the original french characters but with the squares: "acteurs de laഀ mondialisation" How can I eliminate that unwanted transformation ?(which I imagine is due to some kinf of compression, the file is 728K )

Dear Sirs, During the last update I got a blue screen. Two more attempts to update resulted in further crashes. Dowloaded the update file from your site but same problems. Uninstalled Filezilla. Ran registry cleaner. Tried installing Filezilla - blue screen (twice). Seems the initial crash resulted in some damaged registry files which will need to be removed manually. Are you able to help? Hello, please bear with me, I am very much a newbie. I barely know how to upload files, but have been doing that through you for a while and all was going fine until recently when I updated my version of FileZilla. I keep getting error messages, such as "Failed to retrieve directory listing", and can't connect to my website(s)on my main computer. I called GoDaddy for help, and they thought it might be my browser or firewall, but nothing changed and I don't think that's it. Then I tried to upload via my laptop, which had an older version of FileZilla, and it worked fine. I asked my friend who told me about FileZilla a few years ago, and he suggested I report the issue, because maybe no one else has noticed it. I can't imagine that I'd be the only one, but don't know what else to do. Here is the message I've been getting: " Status: Connecting to 160.153.59.0:21... Since version 3.10.0, connections through SFTP always ignore any proxy settings I might have configured. 3.9.6 and older do not.

I've got it configured to use a HTTP proxy, over port 443. The "Bypass Proxy" setting for the connection I use is not checked.

The console shows the following lines (after enabling detailed output):

Response:	fzSftp started
Command:	proxy 1 "proxy.domain.com" 443
Command:	open "user@site.com" 2222

But then it actually does a direct connection instead. I confirmed this by looking at my firewall's network connections view, netstat, and by the fact that I'm no longer speed-limited by the proxy.

I've downgraded until the issue disappeared, and found that the proxy 3.9.6 and older versions do not have this issue.

I assume it's caused by the "Updated SFTP components from PuTTY" change introduced in 3.10.0-beta3, but I might be wrong.

Hello, within search function you have to select "does not contain" in order to find files that "conatin" specific characters within filenames.

therefore you have to select "contain" to find files that does not contain spoecific characters.

Hi, I have noticed an issue with the file sizes on a remote server. Most of the files on the remote end have a size that's the real size of the file minus 4x1024^{3 (4gb). The files are fine on the remote SFTP server but the sizes displayed in FileZilla are wrong. Most of the files are between 4gb and 8gb in size.}

Here's some more information:

• Client: Windows 7 x64 with FileZilla 3.10.0.2 (latest)
• Server: RHEL6.6 server reached/browsed through SFTP.

I tried changing the server type from 'Default (Autodetect)' to 'Unix' but there was no noticeable difference. I also tried using the 'Raw listing' in the debug menu but to no avail.

This makes things a little wacky when resuming a transfer or calculating a transfer duration..

Directory comparison and synchronised browsing are great features in Filezilla but the one thing that is missing is the ability to quickly do a diff between the server and the client versions of a file.

This feature could be implemented by downloading the server version into a temporary file and then doing a diff using whatever diffing utility that the user has installed (meld, winmerge, beyondcompare, etc..)

FileZilla would need some UI to allow the user to be able to select their diff tool of choice.

If the user then makes changes to the temporary file then FileZilla should offer to upload those changes to the server. To implement this, FileZilla would need to watch the process that was opened for the diff tool and wait till it closes.

I did a quick check and did not find any actual ticket for this issue.

So to see, I just uninstalled the latest version (FileZilla_3.10.0.2_win32-setup.exe or whatever was the latest as of a day or two ago), and then reinstalled a previous version (which does not have the problem), which is:

We are running filezilla 3.7.3 and we have a customer that keeps getting this error when he tries to store files. We have tried a number of things but it randomly crashes. After encountering the error, filezilla shuts down. This is transferring Windows files to Linux based storage system.

I did perform a search and found a similiar bug but not exactly like this one.

This latest build is not quite right. Have never had issues with anything before.

#1 - Constantly have to close and re-launch FileZilla to avoid "couldn't open filename.ext" errors when editing files locally.

#2 - When connecting to server fails there is no error message / indication. It just acts as if you never attempted to connect

Actually, if you have reinstalled your OS Win7/8/8.1 FZS isn't able to convert the stored values in FileZilla Server.xml to %appdata%/FileZilla Server/FileZilla Server Interface.xml

If I try to manually add the config the programm isn't able to read them correctly.

Beacuse an import/export function is currently missing I report this as an Bug with the highest priority which has to bef ixed in the next few day's!

I can't accept that a programm with stored config values in XML don't have an import/export function - this is the first thing/function which MUST BE ADDED!

Your FZC has this function but why is it not included in FZS?

I have been seeing this for a number of FileZilla Client versions... kind of annoying.

After upgrading to 3.10.1.1 experienced a problem with editing file with the same name. As far as I can see it's a know issue which should be fixed with this relase, but it is not.

"2015-02-01 - FileZilla Client 3.10.1.1 released Bugfixes and minor changes: Fix editing of files with the same name in different directories"

Downgrading to 3.10.0.2 fixed the issue.

Steps to reproduce:

• View/Edit folder1/file1.php
• View/Edit filder2/file1.php
• File has changed dialog appears even if it is not changed

Using editor Notepad++ (not upgraded recently)

I connect to a server, then establish a connection to a different server in a new tab.

(See screenshot 1.)

Instead of creating a new tab alongside the old one, it creates a new screen that overlays the old one, but is slightly smaller.

There is no way to switch between the two tabs.

This has been a problem since FileZilla version 3.9.0.6. I am now using FileZilla version 3.10.1.1, and the problem remains.

we are using active directory and roaming profile, because of this %appdata% is

we don not have any problem with all the other software we use.

Repro:

1. Start a big file download.
2. Reboot the server to force the connection to drop. I used a Windows 2012 R2 IIS FTP site and rebooted the entire machine.
3. Observe, that the file transfer starts anew. This is a problem if the file takes a few days to download. A lot of progress is lost.

Note, that the typical dialog asking the user how to resolve a conflict (skip, overwrite, resume, ...) did not appear.

Desired behavior: Ask the user or simply resume the file download.

The Filezilla log showed the following during the connection outage:

Should be easy to repro. I have had this problem many times already.

Sometimes, sleeping the client machine at night and resuming it in the morning also causes this issue.

Version: 3.10.02. Has been happening for a long time, though. Nothing new.

My local macports repo build of FileZilla broke between 3.10.0.2 and 3.10.1.1. The build broke on tlssocket.h being included in a couple of files because ECONNABORTED was not defined. This broke in r6382.

Attached is a patch to include errno.h so that it is defined.

Hi We have a few clients that receive the message "Failed to load SSL libraries" when trying to connect to our FileZilla Server. Our Users are currently running FileZilla 3.10.1.1 and our FileZilla Server version is 0.9.43. We understand that there are newer versions of the FileZilla Server, but since this server is in production we do not want upgrade (which will affect other clients) until we know for sure other that it will address this issue. Other Technical information about this issue is:

We have currently set up the Server to use FTPS on Port 990. The Server Certificate is a FileZilla generated cert using TLS 1.2 On the Server when the connection fails we can see a message in the log: "431 Could not initialize SSL connection"

The clients are set to use: Protocol: FTP- File Transfer Protocal Encryption: Require implicit FTP over TLS Logon Type: Normal

Several times with all version of FZ I have encountered messages saying the source file already exists in an otherwise empty directory I am populating.

Searching the source for duplicates does not produce any. This most usually happens with very large uploads (3000 or more files) The timestamp on the source file is always older than the destination one. My solution has been to set "overwrite if source is newer which leaves the original transfer alone but the problem for me is it often takes hours to do this and sometimes it is next day before I find the message. FZ version 1.10.11 also shows occasional failed transfers :Could not start transfer.

Problems uploading since new version of FZ updated Insecure server messages never had before, files don't load or fail. I had an older version of FZ on another PC and it is fine. Also more stable when dragging and dropping files, new version skips down remote directory files

I have not been able to access this server with the updated versions of FileZilla - I have asked host and they agree that certificate is there and is correct and in date etc and therefore I should be able to access via TLS and thus a filezilla bug (?)

Unable to install Filezilla (tried 3.10.1.1 or 3.9.0.6) on my desktop. Getting ....win32-setup.exe is not a valid Win32 application. Help will be appreciated.

I connect to my hosting service just fine this morning. After updating to the latest version, I can not login to anywhere. I used another computer with an older version of FileZilla and logged in just fine.

After updating this morning, the new version failed to login on my Server. Restoring the system - and everything worked perfectly - with the old version 3.9.0.2

We are seeing scrambled permissions set with FileZilla 3.10.1.1. Multiple web developers have uploaded content to a web server that should have directory permissions of 775 and file permissions of 644. The server's umask is set to these values as a default, and previous versions of FileZilla uploaded files without problem.

After a blanket update from 3.9.06 to 3.10.1.1, uploaded directories had permissions set to 7644, 755, or in some cases 700. Uploaded files had permissions set to 640 or, in some cases, 700. The client machines were running both Windows 7 and Mac OS X 10.9.

Reuploading the files using a non-FileZilla FTP client (Fetch on Macs, WS_FTP on Windows) had permissions properly set. Downgrading to FileZilla 3.7.3 (what we had cached) corrected the permissions problem, though it has other issues.

I just upgraded to the current version today and now I can't communicate with the FTP service. Here is the command line summary:

I made no changes to the log-in information, but now it won't get the directory listing.

Description of problem:

Upload of folders: FileZilla creates the list of files (to be uploaded) and starts uploading the first one. When 100% ready, then it starts with the same file from the beginning.

After upgrading to version 3.10.0.0 then 3.10.0.1 and now 3.10.1.1 program times out after failing to retrieve directory listing. Have needed to downgrade to version 3.9.0.6 to establish connection and use program. FileZilla Client

the connect button in servermnager change size every click on a server entry... so he will be bigger ....

Hello, Since a couple of weeks, when I set a "speed limit" to my downloads, they start but about 5 minutes later, they "stop". Actually, the current transfer still appears, nothing apparently changes, but the speed freezes at its last value and the transfer stops in reality. I can stop the queue processing... I mean Filezilla is not "frozen".

I can close and restart Filezilla to get it working again, but with the same problem 5 minutes later. Everything is ok if no speed limit is enabled.

I have upgraded filezilla to 3.10.1.1 and from then i am not able to connect ftp server. Please advise to resolve this issue asap.

System: Mac OS 10.9.5 FileZilla Client 3.10.1.1 I am running a laptop connected to a larger monitor. Monitor and laptop windows align at top. Dock is on larger monitor but applications open on laptop.

Steps to reproduce: Open FileZilla client from dock or direct from applications folder. FileZilla opens on laptop screen. Toolbar is not visible, though it is checked on view menu. Top of main window is not visible, so initial file listing is only partly visible. There is no way to drag the window down.

Every time I want to copy a file/dir name with "right clic->copy" it "freezes" filezilla just after I do right clic. After that, I can only kill the process using OS task killer.

It only tested it under Ubuntu (any version) and I can confirm that it doesn't happens under Windows. I'm using FileZilla 3.7.3 but the bug has been there for a long time.

Currently you can only hide the local tree view. I don't use the local section. I only use the remote section and drag & drop.

Is there a way to hide the entire local section? It's extra space that I could use.

Sadly it only collapses so far and that's it.

When downloading to USB drive in Windows 7, if the drive disconnects for any reason the file download stops and does not restart when the drive reconnects. The file name of the partially downloaded file is moved to the successfully downloaded window instead of the download failed window. This makes you believe you downloaded the entire file successfully but instead you only downloaded part of the file and you have to check each file to make sure you downloaded all of the file.

It used to work correctly in older versions of the client.

If I type /tmp/ in Local site, it works fine. if I then type ~ in Local site, it says: '/tmp/~' does not exist or cannot be accessed.

It seems to look for ~ as a subdirectory of the current directory.

If I do, I can't connect to an FTP site. I always time out. So I then have to just reinstall 3.7.3 which works properly.

When downloading in

with Speedlimit e.g. parameters Down 400 KiB/s Up 200 KiB/s archive-Files like ZIP or GZ are downloaded in correct file size but are sometimes, but not always corrupt, this depends on the file size. The bigger in size the more sure the file will be corrupt. When trying to extract such a file with 7Zip the error message will be either "Data error in archived_filename. File is broken" or "Can not open ArchiveFilename as an archive" or "An attempt was made to move the file pointer before the beginning of the file."

When I run nslookup, it says:

I am using IPv4 and IPv6 on my internal network, but I don't have IPv6 internet access (yet). By contrast, www.cisco.com currently has 3 addresses: 2a02:26f0:ca:286::90 2a02:26f0:ca:290::90 23.195.11.243

I can connect to that website, because the web browser (IE/Firefox) realises that the IPv6 address is inaccessible and so it uses IPv4 instead. I think that FileZilla should behave the same way for FTP sites.

As a workaround, I typed in the IPv4 address for ftp.cisco.com (72.163.7.54) and then FileZilla connected successfully.

With option --disable-manualupdatecheck there is error wxTimerEvent not declared in Mainfrm.h I saw that the file call updater.h on the value of the variable FZ_MANUALUPDATECHECK

I have FileZilla installed at /Applications/Utilities and every time there is an update, it installes the app to ~/Documents folder. I believe that update should update the app and not to put the application to somewhere on the computer.

Sorry, but I've been reporting this for a couple of years. It happens with every version of FZ, including the latest (30.10.1.1)

Mainform.h only #includes <wx/timer.h> via updater.h which is inside a #if FZ_MANUALUPDATECHECK check. As of 3.10.2, build fails when that is false due to use of wxTimer and wxTimerEvent outside the guard. Simple patch to fix the build is attached.
