When trying to connect to non default ports it will work if you use HOST:PORT, but not if you put the port in the "Port" textbox, whether I use Quickconnect or a pre-defined server, both ignore the port.

Hi, Using Filezilla client software, but I am unable to connect to anything through it! I keep getting an error message saying Connection attempt failed with "EAI_FAIL - Nonrecoverable failure in name resolution". I have disabled my Antivirus, and also tried when firewall was disabled and still get the same results. I tried using the Network configuration wizard, but that can't connect either! Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance

This is a bug with Windows, but I believe FileZilla can do something about it as well. Duplicate of #10968 but it's rejected and I wanted to provide more information on how to trigger this.

1) Perform a transfer and get a notification about its completion 2) Perform a second transfer that completes while the notification is still up 3) Taskbar and other Explorer elements (win+e, win+d, win+r, win) are now frozen for what seems to be 90 seconds (however, alt+tab works). One cannot work on the computer anymore for as long it is frozen.

If you do a transfer while the notification is up that doesn't complete until the notification is gone, everything works as intended.

The only way to prevent this is to turn off notifications for FileZilla completely.

Filezilla does not connect to my ftp server.

Since i upgrade FileZilla > 3.20.0, i'm unable to use SFTP protocol to connect Linux host (last test failed with 3.22.2): message "Unable to connect host" I downgrade my version to 3.20.0 and it's work well.

It happened in both 3.22.2.1 and 3.22.2.2. I almost will use FileZilla client to do the photo-downloading job every day from my smartphone in which a FTP server app will run. After downloading finished, I then will delete all the source pictures in server. While the deleting-job is running, if the server app works fine, everything will be OK; if the server app is unexpectedly shut down due to the phone's power-saving mode or my quiting touch, the FileZilla client will give a error message in message log area such as "connection failed". In such condition, One or several downloaded and locally stored files will be modified: the sizes turn into 0, which means the file bodies are lost and only names are kept. And after the server app is re-run and connetion is re-built, the names of those 0-size files will show again in the transfer queue area, not the queued-files page, but the failed-transfers page, it seems the client wants to download those pictures again from server, but failed because they also have been deleted from server already. Then I have to face the situation: I lose these pictures forever because the source in server has be earsed and the local copies have been modified into 0-size.

If I choose to run client right after installation then it starts up correctly, but any subsequential start of client produces crash dump immediately after starting the executable.

It doesn't stop it reconnecting or affect FileZilla's performance .. it is just that I have not seen this error before and wonder if you know about it?

Hello, I'm running Filezilla FTP Client version 3.22.2.2 (64-bit) on Windows 10 and it used to run perfectly until about a week ago. An error caused the program to fail and ever since, I've been getting an error message on startup and then another error message when I try to pull up my Site Manager. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling to correct any file issues but I'm still getting the errors. I'm hoping that I might find a solution by opening a ticket, as I need to be able to use Site Manager. I've attached screenshots of the error messages.

everytime I try to upload anything to my server, my explorer.exe hangs. There's no Windows event log or an error message. So, after uploading, I have to stop the explorer.exe task and restart it. Is there a solution to fix it?

Have been using the fzdefaults.xml file to point to a default location for the different FTP sites.

The setting are not being read correct by version 3.22.2.2. Had to revert back to version 3.20.0

FileZilla was working fine, until it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried resetting my bluehost cpanel password repeatedly, but the below continues to occur. I’ve typed the password very slowly and carefully. I’m inputting the correct password. I am 100% certain about that. I’ve googled the issue and read that sometimes the password database can get corrupted and a resynch is needed to correct the issue. Here is the most recent, detailed log. I am running Windows 7 Professional and Filezilla 3.23.0 64 bit. This issue was not present in 3.22.2.2.

When I upgraded versions as mentioned above, I was unable to start Filezilla. The process would not launch yet I could see it in Windows Task Manager taking about 13% CPU. I waited about 10 minutes but nothing happened so I killed the process.

After playing with filezilla.xml, I noticed that this only happens when "Messagelog position" is set to 2 - set to 0 or 1 is fine.

The timestamp bug is still when you trie to move files from last version of Filezilla (as FTP client) to a SFTP server (in this case Tectia).

I have since installed and configured two other free FTP programmes and they have successfully accessed the website hosting server.

I have always had a problem getting updates to apply after "Help->check for updates" downloaded a new update.

I believe I have figured out what is causing that, though. When I start FileZilla, I usually go ahead and connect to a site immediately using "File->Site manager". Then later, after I finish what I am doing I do the "Check for updates" or the program itself may notify me there is an update available. After the update downloads, it almost always fails to install on its own. This time though, I tried to apply the update BEFORE I connected to a site and the updated applied successfully.

At this point I can't go back and try it again without uninstalling FileZilla and intentionally installing an older version, but I wanted to pass this along to you for investigation. This has always been a troublesome problem for me. I like to use FileZilla. It works very well. Thank you.

SFTP file upload fine with 3.17.0.1 but times out with 3.23.0.2

up until the most recent update I have not had a problem using FileZilla. After this update it wont allow me to connect to the server. It keeps saying

this is really starting to bug me because of the work I have to get done and it wont let me connect. other people can connect to the server just fine with same version so I don't know what the issue is it happened over night one day I could connect the next I couldn't and I'm using all the recommended settings for ftp connection. please help end my misery

Following error is displayed in FileZilla while download a file:

Error: Failed to open "X:\folder\file.ext" for writing Error: File transfer failed

The error is actually from Windows 10 because it cannot create the foreign character of the Mac computer.

So you should check the filename for Mac characters and either change the error message or prompt the user to automatically change the characters in the file so it can be downloaded.

Every year, I upload a schedule.htm to my web site via filezilla. This year, when I opened filezilla, it had a latest version update (which I always do when given the option), and I then deleted old schedule, updated new schedule and I get the following: "404 not found, nginx/1.2.7". I have searched filezilla forums several ways and each time I get 0 results. I have contacted my server, deleted old htm files and re-uploaded. I have uninstalled and reinstalled filezilla, and no matter what I have tried, I continue to get this message and thus, cannot view my schedule. This affects my business, and as it is the start of a new year, this for me is a high priority.

Within the "Files currently being edited" dialog, the bottom buttons include:

• &p → Upload
• &p → Open file

The buttons need separate underlines (or whatever they're called!)

Renaming a file on a HP NonStop causes the new file name to include the folder name and the file to end up in parent folder. I think the log below explains the problem best.

When client is idle and disconnects, then you select a different remote directory from the directory-tree, it doesn't reconnect first. You have to wait for the timeout before it will reconnect, or manually disconnect and reconnect.

I have seen a similar ticket from 11 years ago which was resolved but this it still happening for me. (perhaps 11 years ago it was the Linux version that was fixed? I have no idea.)

Since a while I encouter a bug with transferring files with Filezilla. I do not have this problem with other FTP programms (ie. CuteFTP pro), but I 'simply' prefer working with FileZilla :-)

When I transfer all files from a WordPress installation from the (external) server to an EMPTY folder on my pc, most of the times the wp-login.php files is not being transferred. I get an error message (see attachment 1) "Target file already exists" (although the folder was empty when I started the transfer).

When I click OK, the error message keeps coming back.

When Ik click Cancel, all other files are being transferred. In the end, the transfer is 'hanging' for a while (see attachement 2), after which I again get the error message.

When I click Cancel, I can see in the overview that the wp-login.php file has only been transferred partially (26 of 34 kB).

It is quite annoying as in this way the backups I make are never complete. To achieve that I have to manually copy the original wp-login.php file from the corresponding wp version into the folder where my backup is and overwrite the 26 kB file.

What is going wrong and what can I do to solve this problem?

From last some year, I used filezila latest version for connect with server and file uploads to my root folder.

As I used lot of server links, however I thought to save my server credential to filezilla. So I planned to import xml file to filezilla.

After I got to know, my server credential got hacked and hackers used my space to put some unauthorized content.

Its very serious issue for you and me. I complaint to service provider and he come to know some Chinese hackers hack all this information through filezilla.

So let me know, what is filezilla stand on this suspicious incident happened with me?

If you open more than 2 upload transfers simultaneously folder names are renamed and upload failes.

Tested and failed on OS X 10.9.5 and Windows 7 Pro, everytime with the latest stable build of FZ 3.24.0

Because the problem is not happening every time (maybe it differs with high and low network latency also) you can check it on an testaccount on my ftp server. Please write mail to get the credentials, server address and data for testing.

The problem is happening more often with 10 simultaneous transfers.

Hello after upgrading to 3.24.0 I am unable to connect to a site with an untrusted certificate. Similar tickets 11129 11131 and 11152 were closed REJECTED.

These bugs were REJECTED on the basis that a valid server certificate was required BUT IN PREVIOUS RELEASES CONNECTION WAS ALLOWED AFTER A DIALOG WAS SHOWN.

I would like the dialog RESTORED so that I can approve a connection to a shared server -- or a link to a previous release so I can access my business-related server. Thank you for your quick work on this.

While uploading files to any ftp server PC hangs and not mouse moves slowly. Once upload completed all back to normal. Using windows 10 pro 64bit with latest updates installed and using latest version of filezilla.

Hello, I need to connect to a board with a basic ftp which accept only one connection. Then, I selected Limit Number of simultaneous connections = 1. The problem is that FileZilla opens one connection for retrieving directory listing... but doesn't close it. So, when I want to download a file, a new connection tries to establish, but fails as the former one is not closed.

So the parameter "Number of simultaneous connections" is not achieve !

Is there a way to solve this ?

Hi, I had to stop using the program because of the following: when I upload a text file the size is different, I do not know why this happens with the text files, when uploading it makes me good its size, but 3 seconds later it changes Its size on the server, what will happen ????

Unable to connect on most tries after upgrading to 3.24.1

"Directory retrieval" times out on most connection attempts.

On a couple of connects that were successful, subsequent changing directory resulted in similar problems.

Reverting to 3.24.0 removed the problem.

When trying to open a php or css file by pressing "View/Edit" with Adobe Dreamweaver, this popup warning shows.

Eksample:

The file 'index.php' cannot be opened: The associated program ("C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC 2017\Dreamweaver.exe", "index.php") could not be found. Please check your filetype associations.

This happens on both my laptop and my desktop.

Can Filezilla be fixed to transfer every file successfully quietly? Every time I alt tab away from Filezilla to a browser or other program it takes over my taskbar and flashes at me until I click it. It just wants to let me know that the file I trust Filezilla to normally transfer successfully transferred successfully. Maybe it could just do this when it DOESN'T transfer a file successfully and leave us alone to go back to our work when it does?

I autohide my taskbar and it gets in my way every time I use the client. Why do we have to sit there and watch Filezilla operate when we could be using our time doing something better?

Why does it force me to acknowledge that it did what it's supposed to do in the first place, that it successfully transferred the file? Can't it just do that and not blink at me every single time?

You may know a good reason I haven't thought of for it to behave like this. But I've seen other clients not do this at all and I can't imagine any reason for it to behave in this way. Can Filezilla be fixed to stop flashing and taking over my taskbar every time I transfer a file?

When creating a new site in the Site Manager, under Encryption, there is the option "Only use plain FTP (insecure)". If you choose this option and fill in the rest of the information, and then click OK or Connect, it still defaults to try and use TLS. In fact, it seems that no matter what option you choose under Encryption, it seems to default back to "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available".

Steps to reproduce: 1.) Open Site Manager, and click New Site. 2.) Fill in the standard info, and under Encryption, choose the option you want. In my case, plain FTP. 3.) Click OK or Connect 4.) Go back into Site Manager, click on your site, and view the Encryption setting. It will not be what you chose, but "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available".

when starting Filezilla the following message appears

The file 'C\Users\Derick\AppData\RoamingFilezilla\filezilla.xml could not be loaded. No document element found at offset 9665.

It then applies the default setting.

The filezilla.xml file is found in the above location - the problem appears to be with the offset 9665

Since the update to 3.25.0 my SFTP sessions don't come back when they are timed out (Disconnected from server).

I make a request, mostly doing a refresh or a cd, the clients logs "Retrieving directory listing of /foo" in the status window and nothing happens.

I have to close and reconnect a new session.

Idk if it's the same for other session types, I only use one SFTP connection, but that one rather consistently on a daily basis, and the behavior in question showed up only after 3.25.0.

This occured in version 3.23.0.2 but when I wrote that in the "Component version", the bug report was being rejected because it is not the latest version. Duh, I can only report this type of bug in an older version. If I would download the latest version now, and wait for this problem to happen again, then it would be rejected again, that loops forever. So I lied when filling in the "Component version", sorry.

I get this message when loading the 32 or 64 bit version and the program doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have it loaded on a different machine and it works fine but, this machine with windows 10 doesn't seem to let it load correctly. This is the error message:

since v. 3.25 (in 3.25.1 the behaviour is the same) it is not possible anymore to connect to FTP Servers through a FTP proxy.

When you try it, FileZilla shows the messages "421 InterScan VirusWall FTP address missing '@'" and "Could not connect to server".

A downgrade to 3.24.1 solves the problem immediately.

I tired to suppress the check for update from filezilla 3.25.0 application by Edit->Setting->update and i choose never. but still i am getting that new version available in the menu and getting prompt when i open the application.

Request your support to suppress the prompt and automatic updates in this application.

FTP Proxy settings not work in 3.25.1 and 3.25.0. In 3.22.2.1 work fine.

I have used this for many years and not had a problem. \Uploaded file last weekend and again today and they show that they successfully transferred on Filezilla but they are not updated on the live site. BTW - I tried to do a ticket and kept getting a message that kkwestling@… wasn't registered. There seems to be a issue if a filename starts with a space character (or multiple spaces). The FTP client will trim out all spaces from a filename and display the rest of its string (this can also be a issue with a space as the last character)

I've discovered this after some users reported that they can't delete there own files (They have full read/write access) and the message was that "550 The system cannot find the file specified.".

So I've start investigating the issue and with multiple FTP clients: WinSCP, FileZilla, Total Commander, etc... All with the exact problem. The file can't be renamed/deleted/open/etc. The server is a "Microsoft FTP Service - Windows 2008 R2" which seems to accept filenames starting with one or multiple space characters :(

So, by using a buggy FTP server witch accepts unusual filenames (starting with space characters) combined with weird people writing those names the result is no more access to those files anymore.

Please redesign the filename parsing for "LIST" command, so it will accept those anomalies.

I suddenly edited a text file from local drive panel while a remote ftp session was open on the remote panel, after saving the file locally filezilla prompted me to upload the file after I saved it, meanwhile it was not related to the remote ftp I opened nor downloaded from it.

when I download a file from a server and the file already exists on the client the "file exists" dialog pops up. I check "resume" and I also check "do this everytime / for all queues" (I use the german version so the naming might be a bit different in english).

This works fine for all future file transfers until I update the Filezilla client. After the update my choice of "global resuming" is lost.

Is it working as designed or is it a bug?

I'm able to send files to and retrieve files from an IBM (now Toshiba) 4690 OS server quite successfully. But now and then, the server (or intermediate network hardware?) goes into a state where it will only allow some data to be retrieved from the server before the connection is closed. FileZilla tries over and over again but it doesn't get very far before it logs that the connection is closed.

When this happens, I'm able to use SecureNetTerm to retrieve the same file from the same server with no problem! And if I then try to use FileZilla ... it still has problems. I wonder what SecureNetTerm is doing differently from FileZilla?

I can connect to my FTP site with no problem whenever I am using a Verizon Hotspot (MiFi7730L) using FileZilla, however, when I tried to use an AT&T Hotspot (Unite Explorer AC815S) the connection always times out at 20 seconds and I am unable to connect. Can you advise as to why this happens and is there a solution to this problem? It is annoying to have to switch my hotspot settings every time I have to use FileZilla. Please advise. Thank you.

After transferring from local files to a remote server windows taskbar (and possibly other aspects of windows explorer) no longer works until the windows process explorer.exe is restarted in task manager. This bug has existed on both previous versions of Windows and FileZilla

THe option to "Upload/overwrite if src file newer" is not memorized when selected to memorize (during dialog prompt).

• This only works if "Settings" > "Transfers" > "File exists action" is set accordingly
• Still then the "newer" property seems not to be checked correctly, as you can now overwrite again and again without changing the src file. --> Should only be possible once after it was changed!

Description:Found DLL injection in the FileZilla Client Version 3.25.2, successfully injected dllinject.dll into the filezilla process address space. On successful execution of the attack, temp file is created into E drive as I have written the same logic in the dllinject.dll.

Impact: On successful execution of DLL injection attack, an attacker can create windows user or other malicious activity as I have performed the text file creation.

Remediation: You can prevent this attack by hooking LoadLibrary. In your hook you check against a list of DLL names that you know are part of the process and that may be loaded, or you can check against a list of known DLLs you don't want to load. When you find a DLL you don't want to load SetLastError(ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED) then return NULL. That will stop the DLL from loading.

My code generated bad format files during upload process. When I tried to rename them trough FileZilla (right click, rename)

I was not able to rename this file trough FileZilla. I hadd to rename it using cpanel File Manager.

The polish translation is properly displayed only if german locale is present. If there is no german locale then all strings are displayed in english.

Hello, When transferring files the timestamps regarding the latest version/last updated do not match. The timestamp on the submitting end is correct, but not in the receiving window. It is 2 hrs off.

I upload new images to my web site and for the past few months new images appear on the incorrect page. I use Microsoft Frontpage and that is all I use for the web site. I delete incorrect images and try over but they keep getting mixed up and loaded onto incorrect pages

Have used FileZilla for a long time and have two FTP sites which I upload/download. Usually, when FileZilla issue an update, the new version remembers the previously used Sites. This update wiped both sites so I had to rummage through my files to find and reenter the credentials.

Hello,

I see this issue in FileZilla Client (version 3.26.2):

A folder/directory's name with an extension, like ".flac", is detected has a "FLAC file" in the "Type" column.

This issue is present in Local and Remote View.

We changed the SFTP server settings to a new value but after couple of weeks notice that the settings are reverted to the old server details.

Could you please help investigate this issue.

When using Filezilla Pro Client and downloading from Amazon S3 storage, handling of folders seems wrong.

If you select a folder on the remote size and then try to download it, behavior is inconsistent:

1. If the folder already exists on the local side, the files are transferred into that folder as expected.

2. If the folder does not exist on the local side, the download fails for each file because the folder path does not exist.

In case 2, I believe expected behavior is for FileZilla to create the missing folder and proceed. This would be consistent with its behavior for FTP sources.

If you put the wrong protocol in the field of the server FileZilla shows a MinGW error and closes if you click on cancel. On ignore the right error message appears.

I have the Update option in settings set to Never but the programme still updates to newer versions. When this happens, I open the programme, it checks for new versions and downloads it, it then says it needs to be installed.

When I use e.g. the wrong protocoltype ​ssh://10.0.0.11 as host and try to connect to it, FileZilla will crash with following errormessages:

Hello, 32-bit shell extension is not working Windows 32-bit versions since version 3.27.0. It is not possible to register fzshellext.dll using regsvr32.exe

I am trying to login to FileZilla and I get the following message:

The drag and drop feature no works in version 3.27.0.1 for Windows 7. That is, I am no longer able to drag and drop files or folders between machines (local site and remote site) in the connections tabs.

every time I start an error msg appears. Cannot find filezilla.xml How can I correct? The file filezilla.xml IS present in the correct folder

I get the following error message when I login. I accepted the update and this is when the issue occurred. My IT removed the update and I have the old version 3.26.2. I received a new password and confirmed the Host, username and port are correct. Still cannot login. It is urgent that I get this resolved as I have to download a file Thursday morning.

Hi, FZ version 3.27.0.1 I enter a custom command "site tracks pri=300 sec=30" to overwrite the z/OS default size allocation but the site tracks pri=300 sec=30 is not taken. The Z/OS file get allocate to the z/os default size of 15 tracks which is not enough to hold the PC file (11.7MB). once the z/os file get full then FZ start looping

I know the error 451-System completion code and reason: B37-04 is because the z/os file is full. my problem is "why FZ did not take the custom command?" Site tracks pri=300 sec=30 when I get the response of accepted.

8/1/2017 Getting annoyed with FileZilla, using version 3.24.1 and they keep saying that 3.27.0.1 is available for installation (already downloaded for me). I hit install, and relaunch, and use. When I exit I receive this: ERROR SAVING QUEUE An error occurred saving the transfer queue to C:\Users\steve_000\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.sqlite3 Some queue items might not have been saved. OK button When I re-initialize program I get same error, this time it is ERROR LOADING QUEUE, same path and file ending in sqlite.3 except last error line changes to Some queue items might not have been restored. OK button Proceed to exit program so that 3.27.0.1 can install, which it seems to do. I go online, xfer files, and exit. Next time I open I get the ERROR message above with last word=restored. OK button

Next day, apparently 3.27.0.1 did not install previously, because I am prompted again to re-install it. I've reinstalled thru this loop 4x now. Enough already! Tried download from Filezilla-project.org; 64bit Windows I do not want Web Companion Pro, so I select "No, don't protect me" I have 5 components to select, bottom 4 are selected and I cannot select top box which is FileZilla Client? I install to C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client Seems to install. Get to Setup Complete page, and I Click finish, and "start FileZilla Now" Program opens, I go to my webhost and upload a file. Seems to work. CTRL-Q exits okay.

Next day, start all over!

OneDrive has recently updated and since then FileZilla no longer shows file information ie modified date/size etc if the file is in the local cache. This then prevents drag and drop from working.

If the file is local only then information is shown & everything works as expected.

Uploading a 1 MB image:

• First time, before image exists on Server - 4 seconds

Then, uploading the same image:

• Using the Overwrite option - 53 seconds
• Using the Rename option - 4 seconds
• Deleting image file on Server, then uploading it again - 53 seconds
