#4051 | Skin problem | normal | fixed | 15 years | Linux
Description |
I'm using version 3.1.2, which is the latest version available with Ubuntu 8.10. I'm using the default skin of Ubuntu, and it's hard to use Filezilla because of the font color. There is almost no contrast, the font color is light beige, and the background is white. I haven't found anything in the options to change the skin of the font, just the skin of the icons. Here a screenshot : http://tof.canardpc.com/show/29bd717e-2563-4200-b8fc-81fe721c9f0f.html I hope it's clear enough. /vichenze |

#4138 | Mouse movement intolerance when double clicking | normal | rejected | 15 years | Linux
Description |
Filezilla is very intolerant to mouse movement when doubleclicking on a directory (in both the tree and the list). With my mouse it doesn't bother me because I don't move the mouse while clicking. However, with my tablet it's almost impossible to enter a directory because I can't double click without moving at all. It will try to move the directory into itself, which ofcourse isn't possible. This doesn't seem to be a problem in the Windows version. |

#4199 | Maximum number of connections | normal | rejected | 15 years | Linux
Description |
You cannot to use FileZilla on www.110mb.com, as it does not allow multiple connections from the same IP. Going to Site Manager - Transfer Setting - Limit simultaneous connections to 1 <-- does not work. The only way is to change the global setting (Edit - Settings - Transfers). Other than that FileZilla is the best, thanks. |

#4261 | Character encoding bug | normal | rejected | 15 years | Linux
Description |
Create a folder named "パーソナル" (without the quotes) on a server using the SJIS character encoding (japanese). (Mostly Microsoft Windows Japanese-hosted) In the remote directory tab, it will display correctly. However, in the remote tree list and in the log, it displays as "p[/i" (without the quotes). It is possible to enter into that directory, but any operation done within it produce a bug - creating something in it creates it in the parent directory, it's impossible to download files that were put in there by another user, etc. |

#4836 | dialog box for existing files hangs with arrowed mouse icon | blocker | rejected | 15 years | Linux
Description |
When I start the filetransfer to the server then the error dialog opens, because the files already exists, some with older dates. When I click into the dialog at the time it opens and I move the mouse cursor, then the mouse cursor is changed into an arrowed icon. One arrow of this icon shows to the top and one to the bottom. The icon is like: ⥏⥏ Now FileZilla hangs. And all the GNOME desktop hangs completely. The programs are still running, but I cannot use my keyboard and my mouse, no reaction because of the wrong mouse icon and the FileZilla dialog box. I can only turn the computer off using the power buttom. FileZille 3.2.3 |

Description |
When editing a file, once FileZilla has noticed the file has changed, it pops up it's "file has changed" dialogue which steals focus from my text editor. Needless to say this is extremely annoying. I am running Filezilla 3.2.72 on Ubuntu 9.10, 64-bit. |

#4974 | Links in welcome dialog don't work | normal | fixed | 15 years | Linux
Description |
Clicking a link in the welcome dialog of FileZilla 3.3.0 doesn't work correctly under Linux. On my PC (Crux 2.6), Opera gets started, although the default browser is Firefox. On my laptop (same system), FileZilla tries to start wine, which of course doesn't work. An explicit browser setting in the preferences is missing. |

#4997 | Bug in FileZilla 3 - Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer | normal | rejected | 15 years | Linux
Description |
In FileZilla 3 I get the following Errors: Error: Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing This only happens on one server I connect to and I can connect and do a directory listing successfully to other servers on the same domain. It doesn't happen in FileZilla version 2 and I can connect and do a file listing on this server with KFTPGrabber so it seems to be an issue with FileZilla 3. I have found that if I go to the view menu and click refresh that sometimes it will reconnect and the directory listing will work but sometimes it won't. It's a difficult bug to squash I'll bet. I have seen others having this same issue in the forum. So just to be clear, I can connect, the error occurs when FileZilla attempts to execute the directory listing on the remote FTP server. The remote FTP server is running Microsoft FTP Service (Version 5.0). |

If you try to drag&drop 4 or more files from your machine to the right pane, you get only uploaded correctly 3 of the 4 files (or n-1 of the n files uploaded). If you try to download the files from the right pane to the left pane it works fine, the problem is only when you upload files. |

#5311 | Showing transfer complete notification even when transfer is cancelled | normal | rejected | 14 years | Linux
Description |
Filezilla is showing the transfer notification that says: "Transfers finished. All files have been successfully transferred" even though I pressed Canceled. Step to reproduce:
Filezilla will still show the successful file transfer notification. It shouldn't since no file has been transferred. I'm using version 3.3.1 which comes with Ubuntu Lucid but I downloaded the latest version (3.3.2.1) from the website and the same thing happens. |

#5325 | Spaces in filenames don't open properly | normal | fixed | 14 years | Linux
Description |
If the filename has a space or spaces midway through the filename, then when you try to open the file from within Filezilla (from the right-click menu) it will open a list of files instead of the single file you wanted to open. For example, if you try to open "Template for prototypes.docx", it will respond by attempting to open "Template", "for" and "prototypes.docx", all of them in OpenOffice, and because OpenOffice can't find any of the three, it will pop up three errors of not being able to find each of those three files. Would it be possible for Filezilla to escape the space characters in a filename or to wrap filenames in quotes? This occurred while running a version of Filezilla (3.2.7.2) obtained through apt-get on Ubuntu 9.10, x86. |

#5371 | Password is publicly displayed on export | normal | worksforme | 14 years | Linux
Description |
If I export my connections list, which have some passwords stored, the XML generated has the passwords publicly displayed. I think there should be, at least, an obfuscation on that, since its easy to find out someones' password (which is obfuscated in the program) just by exporting its connections and looking through the XML. |

#5402 | Client crashes ONLY on certain sites/directories | normal | outdated | 14 years | Linux
Description |
When going to certain sites (using SFTP), it gets there, BUT when I try to "Drill Down" into the site, it immediately crashes. This only occurs on a couple of the sites on my web server. It did not occur until I upgraded from Fedora 12 -> 13. I initially used the Fedora install of filezilla, and since the crash was occurring, uninstalled it and downloaded/compiled the most recent version from your site. Still happening. Weird thing is, I have WindowsXP installed on this machine in VirtualBox and filezilla works fine there. |

#5491 | cannot upload broken symlinks | normal | rejected | 14 years | Linux
Description |
It may happen that the fs on the ftp server is different that on the client so on machine where you do not have ssh or any other type of access it is legitimate to create symbolic links that are broken on your local machine but will work fine on the remote site. Unfortunately filezilla follow the link, do some checks on the file that fails and abor the upload. Filezilla 3.3.3 |

#5633 | Be less trusting of trusted certificates | high | fixed | 14 years | Linux
Description |
When FileZilla is told to trust a self-signed certificate, that certificate will be accepted for any connection. For example, if I trust a certificate from some random guy for my connection to ftp.randomguy.net, that certificate will also be treated as valid for filezilla-project.org, google.com, sourceforge.net and so on. The certificate (or rather FileZillas trust in the certificate) ought to be bound to a specific hostname or to a specific site in the site manager. Steps to reproduce the problem:
The result: FileZilla connects without warnings to the second server, even though the certificate belongs to a completely different server. Software versions: FileZilla 3.3.4.1, GnuTLS 2.8.6 |

#7263 | Directory separator problem | low | outdated | 13 years | Linux
Description |
I am using an embedded FTP server from Green Hills. It follows in the Linux tradition using a slash, '/', to separate directory levels. When I connect with FileZilla it attempts to set the working directory using backslashes, '\', which results in an error. The display shows folders with question marks. (Presumably as a consequence.) FZ then does a PWD and appears to then recognize that slashes are to be used. Subsequent commands use slashes and there are no more problems. Would it make sense to issue a PWD as soon as the connection is opened and use the response to direct how to format all future directory-related commands? See the sequence below: 11:03:49 Status: Connecting to 199.184.177.89:21... 11:03:49 Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... 11:03:49 Response: 220 Service ready. 11:03:49 Command: USER ecc1 11:03:49 Response: 331 User name ok, need password. 11:03:49 Command: PASS 11:03:49 Response: 230 User logged in. 11:03:49 Command: SYST 11:03:49 Response: 215 UNIX Type: L8 11:03:49 Command: FEAT 11:03:49 Response: 500 Unknown cmd FEAT 11:03:49 Status: Connected 11:03:49 Status: Retrieving directory listing... 11:03:49 Command: CWD \mnt\sdmem_0_a\ecc1 11:03:49 Response: 550 Bad path. 11:03:49 Command: PWD 11:03:49 Response: 257 "/" 11:03:49 Command: TYPE I 11:03:49 Response: 200 Command OK. 11:03:49 Command: PASV 11:03:49 Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (199,184,177,89,159,53) 11:03:49 Command: LIST 11:03:49 Response: 150 Here it comes... 11:03:49 Response: 226 Transfer OK, Closing connection 11:03:49 Status: Directory listing successful |

#7287 | Uploading problems with encryption (Linux only) | high | fixed | 13 years | Linux
Description |
This log is anonymized. Size of cloudy_violet.JPG is 833,949 bytes. Filezilla 3.4.0 client (Linux) with encryption (Require explicit FTP over TLS).The connection timeout is nonsense. The FTP server is the last one which is sending an ACK and is waiting for Filezilla to do something - checked with wireshark. Without encryption, everything is working fine under Linux - but with encryption see this log. Only max. 180,224 bytes per session possible. Firewall was not active. Filezilla 3.4.0 client under Windows Vista is working flawlessly (with no encryption and encryption, too). #7324 | FileZilla client crashes after deleting a local file | normal | outdated | 13 years | Linux
Description |
Program crashes after deleting a file on the local machine. I run the latest version 3.4.0 of FileZilla client on Ubuntu 11.04. Before deleting a file on the local machine from inside the program, I had connected to an ftp server an copied a file across. After this, the program is frozen, and the only option to recover is to reboot the machine. The name of the deleted file was index.php~. |

#7337 | System freeze on Ubuntu 11.04 | normal | outdated | 13 years | Linux
Description |
Just upgraded Ubuntu to 11.04 from 10.10. I had no issue with Filezilla at all on 10.10. Now random freezes occur which make Filezilla totally unresponsive and require a restart, the app won't terminate normally when locked up. I can't identify a specific action that can cause it - its appears to be random. Ubuntu reports I have this version: 3.3.5.1-1ubuntu1 (filezilla) |

#7837 | Problem Uploading via FTPS. | blocker | fixed | 12 years | Linux
Description |
I recently installed Fedora 16 onto my laptop. Since then I have been having trouble uploading over FTPS. This affects both FTPS and FTPES modes, and only affects uploads. What happens is that the upload proceeds for only a few Kilobytes, then the connection times out and the upload resumes (REST). For another few Kilobytes, then times out again. Et. Cetera. Trying an older version of FileZilla on Ubuntu works fine. However, an older version of FileZilla on Fedora still fails. My guess is that the problem might be due to the version of GnuTLS on Fedora, but this is only a guess. Below are the details of the versions of FileZilla I have tested. #7882 | FileZilla Crashes when trying to download a number of files by dragging them from the server folder to a directory in my home folder | blocker | outdated | 12 years | Linux
Description |
I use FileZilla 3.5.2 on a Linux Mint 12 (Lisa) plattform to connect to my Samsung Galaxy S2 Smartphone with Android 2.3 and the latest version of the App "Software Data Cable", which provides an FTP server for my phone's file system in my home network (over WLAN). I can connet to the server without any problems, browse through the server file system and all folders and files are displayed correctly. However, when I want to download the content of my camera folder (about 100 JPEG-photos and 40 .mp4 video files) by marking all the files (click on first, Shift-click on the last file to be copied) and dragging them from the server folder window into the local folder window, Filezilla crashes. I have attatched the Filezilla message log (file: "filezilla.log") which records the output from the launch up to the point when I opened the folder containing the files to download. When I dragged them over to my home folder the program crashed without any further output. In addition to that I added a more useful log file from the gdb debugger, which shows the segmentation fault at the point of the crash. (file name: "filezilla crash.log") I am running the Ubuntu 11.10 (Oneiric) based "Linux Mint 12" (Lisa) 64-bit on an Acer TravelMate 5740G Notebook with an Intel Core i5-430M and an ATI Mobility Radeon 5650 (using the proprietary fglrx driver for it). I also use the proprietary driver for the Broadcom WLAN card (package name is simply "wlan"). FileZilla Client Version: 3.5.2 Build information:

#7968 | crash upon saving or connecting in Site Manager dialog (xorg 1.12) (oxygen-gtk 1.2.2) | normal | invalid | 12 years | Linux
Description |
Filezilla crashes upon saving or attempting to connect to a host in the Site Manager dialog. Started on the commandline the following message is displayed: tom ~ $ filezilla The program 'filezilla' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadWindow (invalid Window parameter)'. (Details: serial 39845 error_code 3 request_code 155 minor_code 3) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) I believe that the problem occured with the latest xorg-server upgracde. I haven't noticed any crashes with any other gtk applications. Archlinux: KDE 4.8.1-2 xorg-server 1.12.0-1 filezilla 3.5.3-1 |

#8211 | Right clicking on directory/file name while renaming freezes/crashes FileZilla | high | invalid | 12 years | Linux
Description |
Hi, When trying to rename / click a remote folder (maybe a file too not sure) the Local Directory tree is freezing (I can't go to subfolders or to upper folder; not sure about scrolling if works right now I have a tiny directory list) and I can't show the right click menu and the Remote Folder tree is scrollable but I can't navigate through folders neither right click menu does not appear. The main menu seems to work. The file transfers are working ok meantime if something in queue. To fix the issue I need to kill/close FileZilla and start again. This is happening very often. |
||||||
#8249 | when downloading a directory tree, a random part of it may not be downloaded | critical | outdated | 12 years | Linux
Description |
I right-clicked on a directory (that contained a lot of subdirectories with thousands of files) on the server and selected "download". During the download process I lost connection a few times and sometimes had to restart filezilla (because of another bug, that sometimes you can't resume processing a queue until you restart filezilla), but then I always resumed; that shouldn't be a problem at all. I never, ever deleted anything from the queue nor did I ever receive any error prompt to which I could have given the wrong answer. After hours of downloading, the queue was finally empty and FileZilla was apparently done downloading. Then I found out that more than half of the directory tree simply HADN'T BEEN DOWNLOADED. I don't know whether the missing directories have never got into the queue (I'm ALMOST sure this was the case) or if they did and then they failed to download, but in both cases SILENTLY failing to download is a disaster. If a queue becomes empty and you haven't explicitely deleted anything from it, you must be 100% sure that everything in it has been downloaded. And if you download a folder, you must have 100% guarantee that all its contents get added to the queue. I SUSPECT that the queue is built (i.e. the directory tree scanned) while the download is ongoing, so in case of huge directories, if the download is interrupted and resumed, maybe the scanning of the directory is not resumed properly. If that is the case, than that is the bug. Either the whole scanning of directories and queuing of files should be done prior to starting to download, OR actions should be taken to ensure that in case of interruptions the scanning is resumed reliably. Assuming that downloading a directory tree is always done without the slightest network error or without restarting FileZilla from the beginning to the end in one chunk, is a ridiculous assumption. |

#8265 | connection closed after 60seconds behind AWS ELB | normal | rejected | 12 years | Linux
Description |
Hi I have a ftp server (vsftpd) on a Amazon Web Services EC2 virtual machine in a production environment. It's behind a Load Balancer, I access it using filezilla in passive mode for datas (vsftpd is configured to give the direct ip instead of using the load balancer for datas). Data and control channel thus have different ips. I use classic ftp (no ssl or whatever). After exactly 60 seconds of transfer (upload or download, juste big enough to last more than 60seconds) i get a "server closed connection" error, for any version of filezilla (>=3) that didnt segfault i tried. But VSFTPD never actually closed the connection... I looked into filezilla source code, the problem seems to come around in src/engine/ftpcontrolsocket.cpp. There is a control that seems to provoke the bug in CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive... By commenting it the problem disappear if (!read)
the transfers stall a few seconds in the end of the transfer (it might be this test purpose) but i dont lose my connexion and the file transfered is ok. Without the ELB (using the same ip for control and data) i dont get the initial problem. I dont think this a good fix, but it does fix the problem for me. |

#8270 | utf-8 txt files are not uploaded correctly if transfer mode is AUTO | high | outdated | 12 years | Linux
Description |
Take a text file encoded in utf-8 containing non-ascii characters with a .txt extension and upload it to a server with FileZilla with the transfer mode set to "AUTO". Expected: the transfer mode should be set to whatever is correct, the upload should be done correctly, and the uploaded file should be ok Observed: the "A" (ASCII) transfer mode is automatically selected and the uploaded file is somehow corrupted. I'm not sure whether uploading an utf-8 text file in ASCII mode is supposed to work or not (i guess not). If it is not, then selecting ASCII mode is wrong, and the Binary mode should be selected for utf8 text files when the mode is set to Auto. If it is supposed to work, then FileZilla does it incorrectly. Curiously enough, _downloading_ utf8-encoded text files in auto mode does work correctly (and the ASCII mode is selected automatically, again curiously), here the behavior of the server may be involved. |

#8277 | Filezilla sftp download is not handling EOF properly | normal | outdated | 12 years | Linux
Description |
Filezilla 3.5.3. When downloading a file using SFTP, the EOF is not handled properly. Example: downloading a 1564 bytes file.
Now starts the stuff I think is not correct:
And now keeps going up to 1 MB:
About issue 1, I haven't found where's the problem. The offset of the request should always be adjusted to rr->retlen. About issue 2, checking trunk/src/putty/sftp.c:1259, in xfer_download_gotpkt: 1273 if ((rr->retlen < 0 && fxp_error_type()==SSH_FX_EOF) || rr->retlen == 0) { 1274 xfer->eof = TRUE; 1275 rr->complete = -1; 1276 #ifdef DEBUG_DOWNLOAD 1277 printf("setting eof\n"); 1278 #endif 1279 } else if (rr->retlen < 0) { 1280 /* some error other than EOF; signal it back to caller */ 1281 xfer_set_error(xfer); 1282 rr->complete = -1; 1283 return -1; 1284 } 1285 1286 rr->complete = 1; So rr->complete is set to -1 when EOF is detected, but then that it's ignored and set to 1. I believe a return 1 is missing after setting complete to -1. |

#8459 | Client over SFTP, reports upload errors. Some spurious. | normal | outdated | 11 years | Linux
Description |
Using client 6.6.02, Win 7 Pro client machine. target machine is Red Hat Enterprise server. SFTP. Filezilla reports errors when it needs to create a directory. it then creates the dir OK, and then reports errors on a file upload to the new dir. Then uploads file OK later. The errors appear to be spurious but continally demand cross-checking that files did actually upload. These errors are consistent and completely repeatable. They are not random upload errors as might normally occur. Log excerpt below. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. All the best folks. |

#8479 | Right clicking on folder/file name while renaming freezes FileZilla | high | duplicate | 11 years | Linux
Description |
In both local and remote file explorers, while renaming a file/folder, if I right click on it, the text box (of renaming) turns into folder/file name and FileZilla freezes. While freezed, main menu items can be used without any problem but icons, log window, file explorers, queue, etc does not respond to my clicks neither can I close by clicking on close button on title bar (but File > Exit works). I enabled verbose but nothing appears in the log when I right click. This latest version of FileZilla was downloaded from FileZilla website and earlier version which I had was installed via Synaptic Package Manager and that too had the same problem. On my system it can be easily recreated. I have to just: Start FileZilla > in local explorer (tree or list) right click, rename > in the text box for renaming, right click > application freezed. #8807 | Crash when Ok or Connect with Site Manager | normal | outdated | 11 years | Linux
Description |
I'm using Kubuntu gnu/linux 12.04. I have downloaded and installed Filezilla directly from your site. I've been using it in this Kubuntu distribution for about a week now (few days). Today when using the Site Manager after configuring several sites, I find that when I click on "Connect" or "Ok" Filezilla just crashes and goes away. This is happening to me all the time and is not allowing me to use the Client (will I have to go look into another one after using Filezilla in Windows for 6 years?). So this is just going on when turning on the "Site Manager", choosing one site from the list and then clicking on "Connect" or "Ok" -it happens with either-, then Filezilla just crashes. Wanted to report this as it's very odd. Never happened to me before/ |

Description |
Hello, I'm running Filezilla 3.7.1.1 on Archlinux with the libgnutls 3.2.2 and can't download any file on a FTPES enabled server. I have tested with LFTP and gnutls 3.2.2 and it works, then I have rollback'd the gnutls lib to the previous 3.2.1 version and filezilla also works. I have attached both client and server logs at the debug level. |

#9074 | file modification date wrong in remote site - 1969 | normal | fixed | 11 years | Linux
Description |
I have installed two sftp servers in windows 7. I always use filezilla client for any connection and all works right. But in this special case with windows, I got the problem that the date reported in remote sever by filezilla was very wrong. The client reports a datetime near in 1969 year, but the files were modified in this year 2013. By the way I'm using ubuntu. I tried another client GFTP and the date error dissapeared. Please fix it. cliente Filezilla v. 3.5.3 server: windows 7 professional / Core FTP Server I used before fresSSHd server with the same result. |

#9228 | Slow double click to rename file then right click freezes whole interface. | normal | duplicate | 10 years | Linux
Description |
This happens to me farely often, I will click a file slowly twice usually by accident, and then right click (my initial intended action). If you right click in that text box that appears after the slow double click it freezes everything. I can still Exit through global menu but that is about it. I think i am an overclicker so this may not have come up for other people :) I am using Ubuntu 13.10 and filezilla 3.7.3 I have had this issue for a long time over several versions of each. Just tested on OSX and it is not an issue there. Thank you filezilla! |
