I have the same problem. Also Linux Mint 12. Works fine when right-clicking and selecting "Download".

Correction: the method in the link that I posted earlier works, it was just a repository error that kept me from correctly updating wxwidgets et al. Here is the correct /etc/apt/sources.list.d/wxWidgets.list if I remember correctly:

deb http://apt.wxwidgets.org/ maverick-wx main
deb-src http://apt.wxwidgets.org/ maverick-wx main

I have posted the same bug, but more accurate and with more information and log files (one from a debugger) under the ticket number 7882. These tickets may be merged. I use Linux Mint 12, too. Might be a distribution specific problem.

Can you please try FileZilla 3.5.3 linked against wxWidgets 2.8.12? This combination should work. Previous versions of wxWidgets had bugs already fixed in 2.8.12.
