#5064 | FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 | normal | rejected | 14 years | 10 years
Description |
My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network. After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following: Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help. FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine. I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla. I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state. It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature. |

#5100 | Portuguese Translation - suggested correction | normal | fixed | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
I had problems due to a bad translated item in the Portuguese language because the term used to translate the act of "entering a directory" (In portuguese up to now shows "Inserir diretório" - what is wrong in my oppinion) means "insert" and entering is one thing and inserting is another very different thing. The way it is now ("Inserir diretório") suggests that clicking the folder, a NEW SUB DIRECTORY will be created inside the folder instead of opening it. IMHO the best translation for the act of "entering/browsing a directory/folder" would be "Entrar no diretório" that means to "Go into the directory". This words "Inserir diretório" must be changed, this expression is only valid when you are CREATING a sub directory not when you are just browsing it. The correct translation for this item is "Entrar no diretório" |

Description |
Hi, 1) We have a rapidSSL wildcard SSL certificate such as *.domainname.com and when I connect to something.domainname.com, filezilla still gives me the warning, even though it is a valid SSL certificate which is recognized without warning by both firefox and internet explorer over regular https. Once we accept the certificate once, we never have the issue again (as long as we select to save our answer so it doesn't ask again) however, it would be nice if filezilla could authenticate wildcard certs similar to what IE and firefox do over regular https for wildcard certs. 2) There is no way to see the downloaded SSL certificates so that you can review the list / clear it if necessary to force an full SSL cert check again at the next connection. (If there is a way, I couldn't find it). |

#5119 | Upload to FTP Server On Unix | normal | rejected | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
Product FileZilla Client 3.3.1 https://www.ohloh.net/projects/filezilla/download?filename=FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip The client version was downloaded on Wednesday, January 06, 2010, 6:47:07 PM. The client file name: FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip The link used to get the file: http://d10xg45o6p6dbl.cloudfront.net/projects/f/filezilla/FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip Originally, the file as shown by Windows XP, displayed a file size of 15,569 bytes. I uploaded the file to the Linux server and FileZilla read a file size of 15,501 bytes even though Windows reported a 15,569 byte file size. I discovered that one specific character within the file caused the problems. I believe it was a null (character 0) character that caused the problems. Anyways, I do not know if FileZilla 3.3.1 failed to report the size correctly or if the Linux OS failed to report the size correctly. FileZilla showed two different sizes for the files on the two different systems. I copied and pasted what I thought was text to a file but it had a character in it that SciTE accepted (but displayed as a space character Hex:20h, Decimal:32). I ran into this problem once before a long time ago, but I believe I used WS-FTP32 in that case. Anyways, the problem that exists with FileZilla, as I see it, is that FileZilla would be a little better if it analyzed the file before it uploaded it, and if FileZilla found a binary character in an ASCII (text) file, it probably should alert the user. One other thing, if it detects that the uploaded file is 15,501 bytes while the file to get uploaded (the source) is 15,569, I feel it should report that to the user with a possible explanation for the differences in size. Thank you for your time. -- James Carlock aka, Jim Carlock |

#5129 | Filezilla forgets my default "File Exists Action" | normal | rejected | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
I have my default "File Exists Action" set to "Ask For Action". I connect to a server by FTP. The first time I upload a file it asks me what action to take and I choose "Overwrite" and I do not select the "Always use this action" box. I can repeat this upload many times and it behaves correctly allowing me to choose to overwrite. After I have worked on something else for a while while leaving Filezilla running, making code modifications, for example, I then upload the same file again and it has forgotten that I want to be asked about overwriting. The client continues to fail to prompt me until I restart the application, then it behaves properly again for an undefined period of time. The method I am using to trigger an upload is to drag a file from an Explorer window into the file list box of the Filezilla GUI. The times it has occurred, Filezilla has always been partially hidden behind other applications but I don't know how that affects it. I will try some additional testing and see if I can reliably reproduce the problem. |

I am trying to connect to a server that must be in active mode due to the firewall. I have changed the transfer setting from default to active. FZ during the connection sends a passive mode command to the server and then I get dumped out. We have verified all the settings for the transfer, but when the passive command gets sent the connection fails. |

#5134 | Toggle processing of queue not holding | normal | outdated | 14 years | 12 years
Description |
I am running Win <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>XP</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>SP2</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>v3</font>.3.1 First of all when clicking the toggle processing of the transfer queue button on the toolbar doesn't stay depressed. Also if I double click on any local file it immediately transfers the file even though the button doesn't indicate that processing is enabled AND there is no check on the Transfer > Process Queue menu item. When there are files being transferred then both button and menu change to show that they are enabled from the disabled state. So what's the point? I would like to halt all processing and set up a transfer queue and once I'm done adding and removing files from the queue, I would like to toggle the processing and let <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> do its magic. I would also like to export/import a queue and I'm assuming that's what the menu items do but unfortunately I can't stop <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> from transferring in time to test that. Also if I manage to quickly hit the toggle button while it's transferring I can stop it, but as soon as I add something else to the queue it start back up on its own without any indication that I want it to. Thank you for all your hard work. <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> is an amazing utility. |

If you go on selecting 2 more files with Ctrl+Shift there are 5 files selected but FZ shows "Selected 8 files." (5 real + 3 form before). Go on selecting 2 more files, FZ shows "Selected 15 files." #5164 | Accidental single click file renaming | normal | fixed | 14 years | 10 years
Description |
When navigating through folders a single click very often leads to a file or folder renaming. More than that, sometimes when I double click on the folder - it requests this folder's contents AND activates renaming feature, so when it finishes listing new folder - old renaming box stays on the screen, as if now you are renaming a file or a folder inside this new listed folder. If you hit Return - then a file in this new folder will be renamed to the name of a file from a previous folder. I think it's a high priority bug, since I had to stop using Filezilla completely. |

#5168 | gcc compiler switches -O2 and -O3 generates bad code. use -O | normal | worksforme | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
I have written a SHA512 implementation for my own use, and I could not get get the right test results with integer calculations using gcc -O2 or -O3. So I am saying that gcc -O2 and gcc -O3 both generate corrupt, improper code. gcc -O generates good code. SHA512 involves a lot of shifts, multiplies, adds. I understand packets (if you are doing that) require calculations as well, for calculating length, size, checksums, etc. so there may be some similarities in the calculations. I suggest you stay away from using -O2 or -O3 and stick with -O for compiler optimization. You may find some bugs disappear once you switch to -O. Suggest you do the same with FileZilla Server. I also use mingw. I used to use mingw, but now I use mingw-w64, since it has TR1 and it can compile 64-bit code. There is also a known compiler bug I discovered (gcc folk won't fix it - talk to them?) that -fpack-struct does not work with iostream, locale, fstream C++ libraries. It will generate huge numbers of errors. They said something like it is not supposed to work together or something like that. (bolderdash) These are not a problem with microsoft or borland commercial compilers. I am basing this bug on the information I obtained in the Help|About dialog where it says "Compiler Flags": FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.1 Build information:

Our Internet connection cuts often off and comes back after 1-2 minutes only... |

#5180 | Large file upload generates damaged file | normal | outdated | 14 years | 12 years
Description |
Uploading a 16GB file to my FTP in the local LAN (vsftpd on debian stable) ends up with a different file size than the original (tried twice, once smaller and once larger than the original) as a consequence the MD5 is different too and the file unusable. |

#5182 | Return to parent directory | normal | duplicate | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
This has been ticketed as feature requests before under http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/1878 but I think it is a bug. On returning to parent directory FileZilla jumps to the first entry on the file list but should stay on the folder just exited. See standard file browser apps how to behave. Navigating with keyboard is essential in a utility like this. Regs, Zsolt. |

#5183 | download and add files to queue is inactive | high | worksforme | 14 years | 10 years
Description |
Using Filezilla 3.3.1 Download and Add files to queue is not actve in the menu All other commands work perfect. Listing, editing etc. I was using Filezilla for last month and since yesterday both automatic commands "Download" and "Add to queue", start to be inactive. I can download the file manually only but it is very long procedure while I am build the web page. I have already reinstall the software. Helps nothing. Logging from different computer, works fine. I have reinstalled XP system from the last week backup. No result. |

#5184 | File exists dlg: "Apply to current queue only" not working | normal | outdated | 14 years | 12 years
Description |
Download multiple files (at least two) from your server. Then, download the same files again. You will be asked how to proceed. Tick "Overwrite", "Always use this action", "Apply to current queue only". You will be asked again on how to proceed with the conflict. Not sure if the problem is in the "Always use this action" or the "Apply to current queue only", but it's not applying to all files...it's taking them one at a time. Note that this did not happen in the last version (3.3.0), that I experienced. Only since upgrade to 3.3.1. I couldn't find any other current tickets for this, just some similar that were around 2 years old. |

#5185 | Error when dragging folder to Desktop (Windows 7 Professional) | normal | fixed | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
Windows 7 Professional x64 FileZilla 3.3.1 When dragging and dropping folder from remote SFTP site to the Windows Desktop, I am getting the following error: Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window. The operation leaves a remnant folder on my desktop with a random name. |

#5187 | Can't "download" and "add files to queue" on Windows Vista | high | wontfix | 14 years | 11 years
Description |
Please find the attached file, I have tried many ftp sites to download any files, but when click right-button mouse, the menu "Download" and "Add files to queue" are disappear. I use latest version of Filezilla 3.3.1 and under Window Vista operating system. However, it is very strange, I use the same version of Filezilla in Windows XP system, but there is no above problem, just found on Windows Vista. |

This has happened to me twice. I have selected files for deletion and while waiting for the deletion of the files to begin I have hit "Quickconnect". #5195 | Intermittent error transferring ASCII file as binary with transfer type set to Auto | normal | outdated | 14 years | 10 years
Description |
I am running the most recent version of FileZilla: Version 3.3.1. Additional Client info is below (bottom). I was transferring an ASCII file from my computer (WinXP) to a server (Linux). I noticed the file-size of both files (source and dest) was identical, which seemed odd. So, I verified the settings (below), and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer with the same outcome. The file-size on the client and the server was 1070 bytes. Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Default transfer type: Auto Settings->Transfers->Filetypes->Automatic file type classification: (list of file-types including txt) Filename: abc.txt File abc.txt: 47 lines File abc.txt: 1070 bytes (DOS) Then I changed the transfer type setting to BINARY, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. The file was written on the server with an identical file-size (as expected). Then I changed the transfer type setting to ASCII, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file written on the server with a smaller file-size (also, as expected). The file-size on the server was now 1023 bytes. Finally I changed the transfer type setting back to original setting of Auto, and I deleted the destination file, and repeated the file transfer. This time, the file was written on the server with an smaller file-size (as expected). At this point, everything appeared to be working correctly, but the original failure and failed retry are unexplained. Kevin FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.1 Build information:

I never get a directory listing, I *suspect* because there is another connection on another thread, as shown in the debug log (resolver thread?). don't know, since I didn't write it. in any case, I can't connect to this server, because unlike other web hosting companies, this one has the requirement of only 1 connection to the sever, and I think Filezilla client is taking more than what it should. it is set for 1. |

version 3.3.2 CONDITIONS:
I have confirmed this behavior by deliberately creating a file with a leading space on my server, and observing FileZilla's behavior, and noting FileZilla's attempts in the server's xferlog. A bug search showed obscure reports made about this three years ago, but not well described. |

#5217 | SFTP get from OpenSUSE Server causes Vista 64 blue screen crash | normal | rejected | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
Have an OpenSUSE 11.1 server that, when retrieving files from via FileZilla on 64 bit Vista, causes a blue screen hard crash. I can connect and login, list files, etc., but as soon as I double click or select transfer, I get a hard crash. I am on the current version of Filezilla (3.3.2) but this has been happening a while with older versions as well. This does not happen on the same client machine with many other SFTP installations (including Solaris), so I am concluding that it is some oddity between the OpenSUSE SSH server. The OpenSSH version on the server is 5.1p1-40.15. I also see no logs on the server side indicating any type of error. |

#5219 | bad timestamps handling | high | outdated | 14 years | 11 years
Description |
Hi I am working under Windows XP SP3 with filezilla client 3.3.2 I am extensively using the "Folder compare" feature of filezilla client and I am using the option to preserve timestamps when uploading files. After uploading a file on the box, filezilla client still says that the files are not the same. There is a 1 hour difference in the timestamps. I am connected to a remote linux box throught its sftp server The linux box is not on the same timezone as I am. I don't get this behaviour when I use an other sftp client like winscp so I guess this must be a bug coming from filezilla. Thanks for looking into this Regards, Philippe |

#5221 | initial message log overflows its viewpane | normal | duplicate | 14 years | 9 years
Description |
Hi. Filezilla, great, actually. Recently, and continuing on the just-released 3.3.2, info below, the message log from initial connection often scrolls upwards out of its pane, obliterating the text areas and buttons at the normal top of screen. I managed to capture the hopefully enclosed pic where it doing so less than usual, so you can see the effect in its whole context. Usually it completely masks, overwriting with text log results. By the time you see this happen, it no longer does -- subsequent logging for ftp transfers stays in the proper log area. It seems to occur then only during the initial connection. Thanks, and best - it's a great tool. FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.2 Build information:

#5227 | Ftp upload through websense ftp proxy fails most of the time, opened ticket with websense and they said we shall use cureftp or totalcommander and we tested CureFTP and it worked all the time | normal | outdated | 14 years | 11 years
Description |
We use a Internet proxy from websense that does http, https, ftp proxying. We use filezilla for 3 years now for all our ftp upload/downloads over ftp, ftps without any problems. But since we switched from Cisco CE proxy to Websense proxy we cannot upload with certainty. Smaller files pass the system usually without problem, larger files 300 - 500 MB most of the time fail. I verified that the site we were trying to upload works by connecting directly to the Internet and using filezilla to upload the files and it worked. We opened a ticket with websense and they told us we shall use CureFTP or TotalCommander to upload. I did the test and with CureFtp all files were all the time uploaded correctly. The settings we have to use for websense in Filezilla 3.3.1 are: Connection->FTP->FTP Proxy Custom USER %u@%h PASS %p proxy host: websense.test.com:2121 user: test password: test We have also tested to disable ftp cache on websense but the same thing happens. How do we know that the files are not uploaded correctly? The transfer starts and we know that the target site has a bandwith limiter that does allow 60KBs. The files are uploaded and when it's almost 100 percent uploaded we are presented with a dialog that says the file is already there and if we want to overwrite it. If you press overwrite the transfer will start again and at the end present you again with the same dialog. When we called support of the target side they said the files are only around 5 million bytes instead of 13 or 23 million bytes. The target site does not allow size commands nor read of the directory etc. |

FileZilla Version 3.3.2. There are two ways to reproduce this bug. First way: Reconnect to server with site-specific bookmarks right after launching FileZilla. #5234 | Wrong mouse pointer on drag&drop with serverside folders (move vs. copy) | normal | wontfix | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
Dragging and dropping folders on server from one location to another (but still on the same server) is a "move" operation. But the mouse pointer while dragging is adorned with the "[+]" indicator, suggesting that a copy operation will happen on drop. This is clearly misleading. Therefore: On drag&drop, the mouse pointer should reflect correctly the type of file operation that is going to be performed on drop: "copy" (mouse pointer with [+] indicator) or "move" (mouse pointer with [<box>] indicator). |
