#9586 Right click in filename when you rename it make program to freeze normal outdated 10 years Linux
Description

In Filezilla client on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, when I want to rename a file, I right click it or I click twice the file slowly, the file name is now selectable, I am able to rename the file, but if I right click the selected file name the program is like frozen, you can not do anything but kill it with the PID. Normally a menu should open where you can copy cut or paste for example, but here it simply does not open a menu, it just freeze the program.

#9647 File corrupted in passive mode when uploading normal rejected 10 years Linux
Description

The problem is that when I try to upload certain files in passive mode, FileZilla tell if I want to overwrite it (although it wasn't present in the server) and the file is truncated to 1.4KB.

I attach the file that fail, "c8.d", and the same file with a byte less that don't fail, "c11.d".

I also attach the log of a complete sesion: connect to server, navigate to folder, put file, cancel overwrite question, delete file.

The ftp server is vsftp, I can't tell more of it until the server admin get in grace to tell me what version is.

A thing that is strange is the other files of more size get uploaded correctly.

My system (as said in FileZilla) is:

#9885 Commands sent in wrong order when uploading directories, resulting in files not uploaded low duplicate 10 years Linux
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • connect to a server
  • on the local side (left), select a few folders
  • right-click and upload

Expected result:

  • for each folder, it should OBVIOUSLY first create the folder, then upload the files.

Observed results:

  • for each folder, systematically, the "put" command to upload the first file in the folder is sent BEFORE the mkdir command to create the folder. So, unless the folder already existed on the server, that file upload gives an error and is not uploaded.

ALSO, whenever a file gives an error it should be kept in the queue so that you can retry!!!

This level of unreliability make FileZilla completely unusable. You have to check all the files one by one, because there may have been any such random error and you wouldn't even know.

I think this is a regression. I have used FileZilla for ages and had never seen such a thing before.

Example log when uploading a folder called "runtime" within one called "protected":

Status: Starting upload of /home/teo/Documents/xxxxx/protected/runtime/application.log.4 Error: Directory /srv/www/xxxxx/protected/runtime: no such file or directory Command: cd "/srv/www/xxxxx/protected" Response: New directory is: "/srv/www/xxxxx/protected" Command: mkdir "runtime"

#9957 Filezilla freezes in Ubuntu 14.10 high outdated 9 years Linux
Description

In Ubuntu 14.10 if i connect to an ftp server and start renaming the files suddenly filezilla wont allow me to type anything. This bug dosent exist in Ubuntu 14.04 64 bit.

i use F2 to rename files and this is still possible to use. Also i can click in the name of a file and move the marker and mark text with the mouse, but i cant erase the names or type new text in the names. This happend very shortly after. If i connect to the ftp find a file and mark it for editing/renaming and go over in a browser or folder on my machine suddenly when i come back filezilla kinda freezes.. only thing to do is close filezilla and start it again and this happens everytime.. i cant even have filezilla open for 5 minutes and conencted..

Im running Ubuntu 64 bit and my local network is stable (Using lan cables and have transfer speeds on 100 MB/s (1000 Mbit)

I tried to debug filezilla, but the debug dosent catch anything related to what im doing.. (i will try to get some debug/logging that could be useful, but maby you just need to run Ubuntu 14.10 64 bit and rename files on your ftp.. when i enabled debug/logging it took longer time before it did freeze.

#9995 Connection failures if server is not configured properly for FTP over TLS normal rejected 9 years Linux

Something is amiss with the latest release 3.10.0 of FileZilla. I have always downloaded and installed the latest version. Today when I did that, FileZilla stopped working. Can you let me know the fix, or point me to somewhere that I can download the previous version? I am still running the previous version on my backup laptop, and FileZilla works on that one. Server has not changed. Only FileZilla has changed, and this is the result:

#10099 "An invalid index was passed to wxDisplay" assertion failed when overwriting file normal fixed 9 years Linux
Description

When I try to overwrite a file (either because I'm uploading a file that already exists on the server, or the other way around), I get the following notification:

An assertion failed! ./src/common/dpycmn.cpp(119): assert "n < GetCount()" failed in wxDisplay(): An invalid index was passed to wxDisplay

(backtrace attached)

After clicking continue (twice), the up/download seems to further work as expected.

I think this was introduced when switching to wxWidgets 3, which was done with FileZilla 3.9.

I am using FileZilla 3.10.0.2 on Arch Linux x86_64, and there is at least one Arch user that has the same problem (report). There is also a report from a Debian user with the same problem, also with FileZilla 3.9.

#10202 New tab overlays old tab; cannot change between them normal fixed 9 years Linux
Description

I connect to a server, then establish a connection to a different server in a new tab.

(See screenshot 1.)

Instead of creating a new tab alongside the old one, it creates a new screen that overlays the old one, but is slightly smaller.

There is no way to switch between the two tabs.

(See screenshot 2.)

This has been a problem since FileZilla version 3.9.0.6. I am now using FileZilla version 3.10.1.1, and the problem remains.

#10612 Fails to connect (retrieve directory listing) if Firewall is set above Minimum. normal rejected 9 years Linux
Description

This has also happened on earlier versions.

Filezilla gives the message "Failed to retrieve directory listing" during connect. I can get around this by accessing my Cable Modem's Administrator function and changing my Firewall setting to "Minimum". I have to keep it at this level during the entire FileZilla session, through and including Disconnect.

Naturally, I do not appreciate having to leave myself vulnerable, even for a relatively short window. I'd prefer to keep the higher level set at all times.

The log, in its entirety, [minus the particulars of my site] reads:

Status:	Resolving address of [XXXXXXXXXX.XXX]
Status:	Connecting to [YY.YY.YY.YY]:21...
Status:	Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status:	Initializing TLS...
Status:	Verifying certificate...
Status:	TLS connection established.
Status:	Connected
Status:	Retrieving directory listing...

Command:	MLSD
Error:	Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity
Error:	Failed to retrieve directory listing
Status:	Disconnected from server

... and it repeats once, except the second time, one line is different:

Command:	PASV
Response:	227 Entering Passive Mode ([YY,YY,YY,YY],197,46)

This is the only web-site to which I connect.

I do not know if this is a function of FileZilla in general, of my site in particular, or of my Site Manager configuration.

As to the latter, I do not have a Port specified. I don't know if the ":21..." refers to the default port, or what the ",197,52" or "197,46" means.

I would like to know if: (a) Specifying a particular Port number will clear up this problem. (And, if so, what port number?) (b) This is a "Bug" or a Feature", and (c) If the former, can it be fixed?

Thank you.

#10615 Closing tab button doesn't work normal outdated 9 years Linux
Description

Hello,

When you have at least 2 tabs, there is a little cross on the right side of the tab, presumably to close the tab. But when you click on it, it doesn't work. The tab can be right clicked to be closed.

Steps to reproduce : Open two tabs Click the cross to close a tab Expected : the tab closes Bug : nothing happens.

Gif of it in action: https://i.imgur.com/7Z6JVI7.gif

This bug is present in Filezilla client version 3.12.0.2 on GNU/Linux plateform (Archlinux). I can't reproduce it on Mac OS X.

This bug was first reported two years ago (https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/8889) with Awesome WM, now I'm using BSPWM, and the bug is still here.

#10623 [REGRESSION] Site manager window is huge and cannot be resized normal outdated 9 years Linux
Description

I opened the Sites Manager.

The window is ridiculously tall, as you can see from the screenshot. It even exceeds the height of the screen, though fortunately the buttons are accessible (but what if my screen had been smaller?!?)

What is much worse, the window CANNOT BE RESIZED.

I tried to resize in the standard way as you do in Ubuntu. The resizing cursor does appear when you hover the mouse over the upper borders or corners of the window (the lower ones are outside the screen; note that if you were on mac you could only resize the window from the bottom), but clicking and dragging doesn't resize the window as expected.

This issue has appeared after I upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 15.04 (through 14.10). So this is a regression somewhere between whatever version was distributed with 14.04 and whatever version is distributed with 3.9.0.5

#10650 Alphabetical order of files is not honored when queuing normal wontfix 9 years Linux
Description

When adding a dirtree to the download queue, filezilla does not honor the alpha order of the file names when I believe that it should or at least offer an option to do so.

One can reproduce this very easily: On the server from which to download, do:

mkdir test cd test for i in 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9; do touch $i; done

Now connect to the server with filezilla and drag the "test" folder into the download queue and begin downloading. The order is not: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9

For me, the order was: 6 1 2 4 8 5 3 9 7

#10657 can't drag filename with percent symbol ("%") between panes normal fixed 9 years Linux
Description

On Linux (issue does not affect Windows), attempting to drag a file from the local to remote pane does not work if the filename has a percent symbol ("%").

For example, if you attempt to drag a file named test%20test.txt from local to remote, nothing happens -- no message is appended to the message log; no item is added to the transfer queue.

This issue is especially problematic when the user highlights and drag-and-drops multiple files, as they may not notice that not all of the files they selected get queued.

If the user instead right-clicks on test%20test.txt and selects "Upload", the file is uploaded normally.

newer file not uploading to remote directory if file size is smaller and time difference less than 1 min.

client is ubuntu 15.04 server is ubuntu 14.04.3 using SFTP protocol settings->file exists action->overwrite file if source is newer.

steps to recreate; 1.modify file a by 4 bytes/characters. 2.upload change to the server...this works. 3.modify file, removing 4 byte changes..file is now smaller...and newer by less than 1 min. 4 upload file to server....file is skipped....:(...failed to upload.

Not sure why the newer file was skipped unless program is only comparing hh:mm of each file and not hh:mm:ss ...but this is only speculation.

#10828 GUI not showing ssh keys in the openssh format low wontfix 8 years Linux

I try to select a key in .ssh from the GUI seen below, but the private key file and host file don't show up. #10915 filezilla should use different file name while uploads are in progress normal duplicate 8 years Linux
Description

problem: If I upload index.html or any other file onto my homepage then the file will not be accessible during the upload. When my internet connection tends to become slow that is a real problem because my whole site (www.elstel.org) will be down during the upload.

solution: upload the file under different name i.e. index.html.new and then, after the upload has succeeded, rename that file into index.html

rationale: Last time my internet connection was stalled and the connection to my server (web4.dotplex.de) got lost during the upload. Even worse I did not succeed to reconnect for hours because the connection was somehow delayed (100-300ms ping RTT). The result was that my site had been down for hours. very annoying and quite harmful!

conclusion: As long as this bug does not become resolved quikly the only way would be to strongly disrecommend the usage of filezilla at least for critical uploads.

#11000 [gtk3] "Rename" gui issues when GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0 and there are scrollbars in the pane normal worksforme 8 years Linux
Description

using FileZilla package provided by my distribution, Fedora; it's compiled against GTK3 ...

GTK3 has a new "overlay scrolling" feature which makes it so that scrollbars aren't visible until you put the mouse over the pane. This feature can be turned off by setting the environmental variable GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0. I have turned the overlay scrolling off in this way.

in FileZilla, if GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0 and the pane has a scrollbar, the "Rename" function usually (if you try more than once, you will likely see the problem) does not produce the inline input box GUI (instead the file just remains highlighted). in reality, you can still rename the file by using the backspace button and typing characters, but you do so blindly as you can't see any of this is working (e.g. you can't see the characters you type) until you press enter and the filename is in fact changed.

#11031 Connection timeout when delete many huge files normal worksforme 8 years Linux

Usually I use filezilla to delete the large (+- 20 GB each file) daily backups on the server. So when I choose 20 files (eg.) and press DEL to delete them, it starts to delete, but after some time it shows the "Connection timeout when delete many huge files". Due to high disk IO on server the action is slow even on direct rm command on linux.

#11062 Filezilla window unresizable in wxGTK with HiDPI display normal rejected 8 years Linux
Description

I'm running Fedora 24 with Gnome 3.20.4 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Filezilla opens to a very tiny (and unusable) window that cannot resize or maximize. There's no "maximize" icon and double-clicking the menu bar does nothing.

Quick Googling led me to similar issues on the GTK side, and a patch was submitted and accepted upstream some time ago. More info on that here:

https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=40161 http://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/17456

My short-term solution was to use the Gnome Tweak Tool to set my window resolution to "1", resize the Filezilla window and do what I need to do, then use the Tweak Tool to reset the resolution to "2" so I can go about my day-to-day operations. Because this was already patched in GTK I'm assuming there's something that might need to be addressed in Filezilla specifically. Thanks!

#11093 Error message upon start in recent VCS checkouts, apparently associated with core dumps normal wontfix 7 years Linux
Description

Recent VCS versions of FileZilla client show a warning message right upon start which seems to be associated with crashes / core dumps that sporadically take place after establishing connections.

Both the error message and traces of the crash are attached to this report. Debug symbols were disabled, let me know if this isn't enough. The message is the same when wxWidgets are compiled against GTK 3 or 2. The crashes were seen under GTK 2 only so far which may or may not be by incident.

Seen compiling 8034 against wxWidgets from current master on Arch Linux x86_64.

#11105 FileZilla Client ignoring failed SSH_FXP_CLOSE normal fixed 7 years Linux
Description

Dear developers,

I am currently working on an SFTP-Proxy project and I noticed a bug in your software. When closing a file handle, according to the SFTP specification version 12, page 35 it states the following:

The response to this request will be a SSH_FXP_STATUS message. Note that on some server platforms even a close can fail. For example, if the server operating system caches writes, and an error occurs while flushing cached writes, the close operation may fail.

In my case this is exactly what happens. When a file is not permitted through the proxy, the CLOSE will fail. The SFTP_Client from the command line in Fedora 25 respects that and will display an error if the upload is not permitted.

Screenshot from SFTP from command line:

http://deathkid.trojaner-board.de/img/Bugreport/SFTP.png

However, FileZilla will mark the upload as a success, even though it may have failed. The only way to verify this is to look into the directory, where the failed file will not appear. However, this could be very confusing for our users and can lead to data loss.

#11187 Corrupted desktop file removes Filezilla from GUI menus high fixed 7 years Linux
Description

From the last update on I face an issue :

Filezilla disapeared from menu & dock I checked in pamac : it is installed

If I launch it via CLI it is functional.

It appears that strange hidden characters are at the very beginning of the desktop file.

Solution : edit /usr/share/applications/filezilla.desktop, remove the first [ of [Desktop Entry] and any character on the left, then rewrite the [ , and save.

Could the desktop file be amended ?

#11273 Upload/Download queue should have a server column low worksforme 7 years Linux
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open several connections to different sites in several tabs
  2. Start some uploads and/or downloads on each of them
  3. Look at the transfer queue at the bottom

Expected: the files currently transferring or queued to be transferred are listed; you should be able to tell which one are being transferred to/from which of the servers you are connected to

Observed: several attributes of the files are shown: current path, remote path, etc, but there's no indication of what server they are being transferred to/from. So, if you queued downloads to several servers, you cannot tell them apart. How f*ing stupid is that??

Been fighting writing this up.. But now with the latest 3.26.2 package still having filezilla crash. My Debian 8 was just updated to the latest code as of 6/12/17.. So if i attempt to see if there is any new updates.. filezilla will crash. I have 10 objects under "site manager" if i attempt to switch from one of these to another one it will crash. Now I have had to update my passwords on each of these objects. So not sure if that bug is coming into play.. There have also been time were just attempting to bring up filezilla that it would crash.. This i noticed several segment faults being seen. I gathered some data.. See if it is usable.. thanks Brent

#11336 Missing ../storj/events.hpp file fails compilation normal fixed 7 years Linux
Description

I am trying to compile FileZilla with Storj support from sources.

The ../configure --enable-storj=yes command is successful, but then make fails with the following error:

In file included from ../../../src/engine/storj/connect.cpp:4:0: ../../../src/engine/storj/event.h:4:31: fatal error: ../storj/events.hpp: No such file or directory #include "../storj/events.hpp"

There is no "events.hpp" file in the FileZilla_3.27.0.1_src.tar.bz2 source package. However, I found it in the SVN repo. After copying it manually, the build is successful.

Please, make sure that the "events.hpp" file is included in the source package.

I am able to connect to the server via the command line sftp client. I'm also able to connect with at least two other SFTP guis (Caja and gFTP).

#11431 Filezilla 3.28 does NOT work on Debian 9 Mate. normal invalid 7 years Linux
Description

Hello.

I installed Debian 9 only to test if Filezilla 3.28 works. It does NOT work. It still shows only a list of shared library files.

Could someone fix Filezilla or provide better solution for Filezilla usage, etc.?

Thank you.

#11433 Freezes the whole OS when resizing the top panel normal rejected 7 years Linux
Description

Steps to reproduce:

  • Click and Drag the border that separates the log panel on top from the local and remote folder panels below.
  • Drag it all the way to the bottom until it can't be farther down, without releasing the mouse button
  • release the mouse button

Expected: obvious Observed: the mouse cursor remains in the form of an up-down double arrow (resize icon), even if you move the cursor out of FileZilla's window. Nothing responds to clicks, neither in FileZilla nor IN THE WHOLE OS. All mouse interaction is frozen.

You cannot even close filezilla. The only way out is to open a terminal via a keyboard shortcut and kill Filezilla from the command line!!

Since version 3.28.0-rc1 FileZilla is not opening in Linux Mint, I tried opening the "/FileZilla3/bin/filezilla" with two clicks but nothing happens. When accessing the terminal as root and trying to execute the same BIN the command returns the following error:

#11475 Cached password can't be corrected (see also #1240 and #4491) normal duplicate 6 years Linux
Description

to quote #1240,

After connecting to the server with a wrong password this pw is cached and can not be corrected. So Filezilla needs to be restarted in order to connect again. As Filezilla realizes, that the connection can't be opened, it should ask for the password again.

This is still happening in 3.29.0 even though response to issue #4491 says it would be fixed in next version. This happens when save password for this session option is selected upon entering password on a site where login is set to "Ask for password."

#11528 GnuTLS error -9 normal outdated 6 years Linux
Description

None of the tickets opened previously by other people have been fully answered. Most went unanswered (by the submitter) and got closed. My issue is using the Linux distribution of Filezilla got me the following output when connecting from my computer:

Status:	Resolving address of bacs200.unco.edu
Status:	Connecting to 138.86.64.27:21...
Status:	Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Response:	220 Microsoft FTP Service

Response:	234 AUTH command ok. Expecting TLS Negotiation.
Status:	Initializing TLS...
Error:	GnuTLS error -9: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received.
Status:	Server did not properly shut down TLS connection
Error:	Could not connect to server

I run Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit. This error occurred on February 23, 2018 and I've been running through possible solutions thus far. Before Feb. 23, I've been using a Mac to connect to the same server without any problems. The server information is (areas with <* *> are sensitive areas and are ommitted):

Host: <*site_domain*>.edu Port: Protocol: FTP - File Transfer Protocol Encryption: Require explicit FTP over TLS Logon Type: Normal Username: <*user name*> Password: <*password*> Server Type: Default ~Other settings are set to default.

I've made sure all settings are correct and are identical to my Mac configuration. I've seen suggestions to edit TLS settings or config files and I'm both hesitant and incompetent in performing these solutions. Thank you for your time and I look forward to a reply at your earliest convenience.

*If it makes any difference, Filezilla was installed through mintInstall7.6.3 'Software Manager'

How to recreate: start application, flickers and crashes. Filezilla version: filezilla 3.32.0-1 libfilezilla 0.12.1-1

What I have tried so far: deleting config file. that didn't help, downgrading filezilla, that didn't help either. Try to downgrade wayland didn't help either.

Everything worked like 2 days ago, after some updates, I cannot run filezilla. Unfortunately I didn't check which packages I updated but must have been something for wayland/gdk

#11645 new version needs installation howto and stability notice normal worksforme 6 years Linux
Description

I installed FieZilla, which immediately offered me a new version. I accepted and was sent an archive. I did not find a readme or other installation guide. For example, the de-archiving program asked me what to name what I was extracting. I assume that has to be a name that will be recognized by the OS desktop environment's main menu. I don't know what that name is, although maybe someone on the Internet knows. I assume I have to configure configuration files external to FileZilla, but I don't know which files or to say what. I assume the installed directories and files have to go to certain locations, but I don't know where and it's probably not the de-archiver's default destination, which is the /downloads/ directory for my login. And I think I see "nightlybuild", perhaps as an owner's name, which suggests that I'm upgrading from a stable version to an unstable one without notice, even though the right-hand version number is "0".

Please include an installation guide. A root-level readme.txt file might be all we need.

Please tell us if the new version is stable, especially in the old version's offer of a new version.

This installation attempt was on June 20, 2018.

#11786 "Create new file" context menu item produces files with same timestamp low fixed 6 years Linux
Description

the first file you create after opening FileZilla has the correct timestamp -- any additional files you may create will have the same timestamp as the first file you created. this issue does not apply when directories are created. i first noticed this issue today when a new file i created showed as being several hours old -- at first i thought maybe the server time zone was wrong, or that the FileZilla time zone offset was wrong, but i eventually determined the timestamp was based upon the first created file.

presumably this is due to FileZilla creating a single file and then reusing it, but it seems like a simple way to improve this would be just to "touch" the file to update it's timestamp before uploading it.
