#7444 | Hostname conflicts with putty session names | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Description: Hostnames associated with a saved putty session are used if the hostname used to connect in Filezilla matches the putty session name. In other words: fzsftp.exe loads the hostname to resolve from a putty session that happens to matches the hostname that was originally supplied to it. Steps to reproduce:
Output: Command: open "anonymous@foo" 22 Trace: psftp: Implicit session load. Trace: Looking up host "foobar" Error: ssh_init: Host does not exist Result: It attempts to resolve "foobar" Expected result: It should resolve "foo" Comment: This is perhaps acceptable behaviour for psftp when using from the command line, but is unexpected behaviour for Filezilla. |

#7448 | optionally disable drag&drop | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When working with Pen Tablets (Wacom,etc..) the high precision of the pointer causes very difficult to click shortly on a folder to select it. Usually the pointer drag a little pixels, causing the folder moving, and disastrous results on productive servers. A option for disable (or confirmation dialog) would improve security when working with graphic poninters. |

#7453 | Request cleaner GUI | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZill was not broke. In your latest update I wish that you hadn't "fixed" it. The screen is more crowded than before, and requires more scrolling than before. This makes it slower to use than before. That is not an improvement. Yes, I know I can turn off some views. However that is a step I did not have to do before to get satisfactory results. You need a clean default view. Its called good ergonomics, which is suffering more and more these days. Fred Goepfert West Springs,SC |

#7455 | Enable use of idle or browsing connection to download files | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
It would be beneficial to download and user interaction response times if FileZilla could reuse the browsing connection (the first connection made and browsed with) to initiate file transfers, and open a second connection to resume browsing until the transfers have completed. This arose from my use of a ssh+ftp connection which has very quick transfer times but was very slow to establish connections. With this connection policy/option available a simple two-file grab could be much quicker, and by automatically opening a connection before the user browses to the next directory you minimize overall delays experienced by the user. |

#7462 | Feature Request: ProxyCommand support | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
It would be nice to have FileZilla support a proxy command for sftp. I use the ProxyCommand option in my ~/.ssh/config file to be able to connect to hosts I would otherwise not be able to reach. And while I could try to set up a tunnel some other way outside of FileZilla, that tends to be more of a nuissance. Ideally, if FileZilla could read my ~/.ssh/config file and take advantage of the hosts and settings I had set up in there, it would be a nice thing to have. |

#7474 | tool bar | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I would like to report in your software the toolbar will disappear from the screen when the message log is scrolling. I currently own the Toshiba and I noticed on your previous version of your software. This bug did not do this and the toolbar stayed exactly where it was and did not disappear. The only time I can get the toolbar to reappear is when I have to hit F5 and refresh the screen or minimize the window and then maximize it again which will cause the toolbar to reappear at which point we'll stay in its normal position without flickering so every time I open up the program before using it. I have to minimize the screen and then maximize it and then work up from there. I don't think it is my computer because the previous version did not do this. I just recently of graded to the newest version within a week and I noticed this glitch I don't know if anybody else is happening. This type of problem, but it is worth looking into because your program is such an asset to the community. I captured a screenshot live of what it does but I see no way to import it into your ticket system to show you exactly what's going onif you need further information or you want to see in this video that captured of what exactly going on. #7668 | Copy files/folders on the same remote connection | closed | Patch | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Right now, if I need to copy files/folders, I need to download them and reupload them (or 'cp' command via SSH). It would be very useful to be able to copy a selection of files/folders on the same remote connection. I know that the FTP protocol does not support copying files (only move). When we select to 'view/edit' a file with the default editor, the file is downloaded in a temporary location, and then optionally deleted when it is uploaded. Maybe the same kind of mechanism could be used, but for copying files? automatically download files and folders to copy in a temporary location and then upload them at the right place (and maybe adding a '_copy' prefix if the remote file already exists). |

#7719 | MAC address authentication for (at least) admin | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
IP filters are not enough for remote logins, specially for admin - if you have DHCP too much addresses are allowed to log in. When logging in with previous provider I had just 3 filters for admin (~190.000 adresses were allowed), but now (biggest provider in the country, with many IP address ranges) I found that I've had to use much more filters also with xxx.*.*.* masks, so millions of adresses would be allowed! MAC address authentication (filtering) should solve this. |

#7721 | File Import Setting Changes Edit Setting Transfers File Types but lost on restart | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla allows you to export Settings to an xml file (File | Export Settings). This works. You can export settings on one PC (Windows Server 2003 in my case) and then import (File | Import Settings) the xml file on another PC (Windows 7 Professional 64 bit in my case). This part looks like it works, but it does not work 100%. Let me explain. The import updates your Edit | Setting | Transfers | File Types ascii list and the change works when you do an automatic mode transfer (Transfer | Transfer Type | Auto). However, if you close and reopen the Filezilla Client, your changes to the File Types ascii list are lost. To Test . Export your settings. . Delete one of your ascii File Types, e.g. bat . Close and reopen Filezilla Client . Go to File Types ascii list, bat is not there, great. . Now import your settings that you exported earlier. . Go to File Types ascii list, bat is there now, great. . transfer a bat file to a UNIX box in auto mode, great, that works. . Close and reopen Filezilla Client . Go to File Types ascii list, bat is not there, BUMMER. The settings that you import are lost on restart. This is a pain, if you are trying to use the same "standard" File Types definition at more than one location. If this worked, it would make it a lot easier to use automatic mode for a mixed bag of ascii and binary file types. Youp would be able to get repeatable results. A separate issue is a feature request: to allow the user to choose to remove items from the Files Types List when importing a Setting XML file, if those files are no in the XML that you are importing, but are in your existing File Types List. Not havign this feature, means that you have to empty your Files Types List before importing the XML or manually delete unwanted file types before or after importing the XML. |

#7735 | Automatic selection of parallel upload transfers | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I had been testing different scenarios of uploading a bunch of files with different network connections (wlan and eth) and have a good idea for improving upload speed.
So with this data I suggest to have a configuration that would enable "automatic" parallel handling that would work as follows: Configuration needed: 1.-Threshold to consider a file small (called A) 2.-Maximum number of threads to enable if procceeds (called B, can be taken from global config) Suggested behaviour WITH this new option enabled: 1.-Sort all upload list by size (asc or desc) 2.-Start transfer:
I tested this scenario locally connected directly by ethernet cable, and by wireless lan, and in both cases, speed improvement was really really significant. So what about having it in config so this can be done automatically? |

#7740 | Snap panels (message log, transfer queue) to left and right of screen | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Greetings. Like many people, I'm now using a widescreen monitor. Currently my FileZilla client is split into four horizontal panels: message log, directory trees, file listings, and transfer queue. As a result these panels are all very short and wide. It seems the space would be better used if the GUI allowed me to snap the panels to the sides of the screen, so that (for example) I could have the message log along the left, or the transfer queue along the right, or both. Then I would have four columns: message log, local tree/files, remote tree/files, and transfer queue, and there would still be plenty of horizontal room. Alternately, I could leave the log and the queue at the top and bottom, and have the directory trees to the left of their respective file listings rather than above them. A good example of this behaviour can be found in most IDEs, which tend to have a lot of different panels available, but are flexible in how they can be arranged. You can dock them to an edge of the screen, or split them with another panel already docked to that edge, etc. Just a suggestion. I love using FileZilla, and an improvement like this would only make me happier. saltire |

#7763 | Downloaded files on large number of files transfer end up in wrong folder | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I was downloading a Joomla website with a reasonably large amount of temporary files to my local computer. The total number of files moved was 7,079. However, the folder structure on the target side is not the same as the on the source size and files seem to have ended up in random locations. It looks like that the 'active' folder for the file transfer was set to whatever the 'active' folder was for the thread that was queueing all the files to be processed. For example. I have a folder "templates" on the source side, with subfolders "beez", "ja_purity", etc. But on the target side, the "templates" folder does not have any subfolders, but has just contains a few files "blogger.php", "blogger.xml" and a few more, that should be in "plugins./xmlrpc". The "beez" and "ja_purity" folders have ended up within the "tmp" folder instead of in "templates" on the target side. But then have subfolders themselves that are in the tmp folder on the source side. I have the max simultaneous transfers set to 1. The source server is a Linux machine, running Apache 2.2.3. The target machine is a Windows 7 one. |

#7783 | Queued transfers dont reget if app restarts | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
If you shutdown politely (or the system shuts down), the app DOES remember what was in the transfer queue. Unfortunately, it does not resume (reget) the transfers, it restarts them from scratch. This seems like a bug, but I suppose it could be a feature request. More specifically, if I shutdown & restart the app, and begin processing the transfer queue, I would like transfers to continue so it does not take many many hours to recover back to where you were. |

#7794 | Transfer speed in transfer queue shows KB/s, MB/s, GB/s (etc.) ONLY, regardless of the preferences | assigned | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
In FileZilla, it is possible to select in the preferences how file sizes are shown. If I select for example the IEC style (KiB = Kibibyte = 1024 Byte) instead the default "Byte" option (=no KB,MB,GB,etc. just Bytes), FileZilla applies this perfectly to everywhere where file size appear, EXCEPT when one file gets transferred. Then, in the transfer queue, the transfer speed of all is still shown in the "KB/s" (for example) format instead of the "KiB/s" format which I selected in the options. All other file size numbers are formatted as selected in the settings. It seems the shown transfer speed completely ignores my settings; it also shows "KB/s" if I selected to show only Bytes. |

Today, when I use Filezilla, a dialog box appears when a previously opened file has been changed, and I'm able to answer "yes" to upload the modified version of the file. I would like a feature (with a checkbox in preferences) to do this automatically when a previously opened file has been changed, without having to switch to Filezilla and answer the dialog. |

#7800 | Automatic directory refresh upon transfer completion | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Currently (FileZilla Client 3.5.1), the target directory doesw not show the actual contents when an upload is completed. The user then has to manually refresh the diretory listing to confirm that the transfered data is there. be a If the directory would automatically refresh, this would not be necessary. Whether the refresh should happen per file transfer or group of transfers could be a user preference, as per file would generate a bit more traffic which might not be necessary for a specific user. Hi, We are running Filezilla Server version 0.9.40 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit machine. Even though under the SSL/TLS settings I have Allow Explicit FTP over TLS checked and also Disallow Plain Unencrypted FTP checked, during an external penitration test it was found that we were still transmitting plain text. Is there something else that I should have configured or is this truly a bug? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Danielle |

#7804 | whitespace in filename cause download failure | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
I happen to have a file named ' 01.xxx.mp3' (xxx was Taiwanese). The whitespace prefixing the file name causes downloading errors. The filezilla server log shows the process. (000005)2011/10/29 下午 23:56:44 - user (211.76.77.44)> 227 Entering Passive Mode (140,113,205,141,8,75) (000005)2011/10/29 下午 23:56:44 - user (211.76.77.44)> RETR 01.xxx.mp3 (000005)2011/10/29 下午 23:56:44 - user (211.76.77.44)> 550 File not found Yes, the filezilla client correctly requested the filename as 'RETR 01.xxx.mp3', which has two whitespaces after RETR. It's just the server cannot find it. The issue can be worked around by deleting the prefixing whitespace. It's weird that when I tried to rename ' 01.xxx.mp3' to '01.xxx.mp3', windows 7 told me a file with that name already exists. I copied that file to the same directory, getting both '01.xxx.mp3' and ' 01.xxx.mp3'. Then, I deleted ' 01.xxx.mp3' and this time I can download '01.xxx.mp3' as usual. So I'm unsure if this issue belongs to filezilla server or windows 7 or the FTP protocol. Perhaps the problem is that all whitespaces between RETR and the filename are ignored by filezilla server? |

I keep getting disconnected from my server right after I upload something. Even after a few seconds. I've talked to my hosting company and they have raised the inactivity time limit to 15 minutes and I still get disconnected from the server after just a few seconds. So everytime I upload something I have to reconnect to upload something else. The host company told me this is a FileZilla issue and I have to ask you for help and not them. I've included a sample of the error log from the last time I got disconnetced below. Please let me know if there is somethign I can do to stay connected to the server after I upload something. #7815 | reuse SSL session of control connection | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I've been testing in two Linux and two Windows systems on the same internet line. Everything works OK in Windows and even in Linux if running the Windows version of Filezilla through Wine! The problem with the Linux version of Filezilla is, when connected to a FTPES server and trying to upload a file, it is uploading only around half a second, then it stops, timeouts, reconnects, continues the upload again for around half a seconds, timeouts, etc. Sometimes if inactive for like a minute or two, it gives "425 Unable to build data connection: Operation not permitted" error, when trying to refresh. Downloading seems OK. Tested versions: 3.3.5.1, 3.5.1, 3.5.2-rc1. Should you need more info, let me know. |

Description |
Downloaded 3.5.2_i686-apple-darwin9.app from FileZilla-project.org. Upon attempt to open the app received the message: "You can't open the application FileZilla_3.5.2-i686-apple-darwin9.app because it may be damaged or incomplete." I searched the bug reports and forum for this problem and only found on the forum to compare the checksum of the file with that of the FileZilla Project checksum. I'm currently running 3.5.1 and it works fine so I tried to download 3.5.1 and got the same message when I tried to open it. Thanks, Kirk |

#7822 | uploading/saving deletes part or all of file | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When I upload a file or save a file that gets uploaded to the server. Not the whole file is uploaded. For example, if the page is 54,000 bytes and I add to it then save, it may save at 49,000 bytes and part of the page will be missing. Although, the whole code is still in my editor, it's just not saving to the server. There has been a few circumstances when the whole file would be deleted. A 54,000 byte file would go to 0 bytes when saved. |

When moving multiple entries one for another with the mouse into some folder, that folder always opens. Now, when you have a long list, you always have to close that folder to get to the position you´ve been before. If a folder the mouse hovers over would only open after a second (and also not when the entry is dropped), this would save some effort. |

#7830 | Custom Command "Site Trailingblanks" not working with z/OS FTP server | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Using latest 3.5.2 Filezilla Client on Win32 platform (XP). Connecting to z/OS v1r9 FTP server, downloading Fixed Block datasets where trailing blanks are critical to retain. Using Custom Command in Filezilla to send command: site trailingblanks ("site trail" for short) When the dataset is then downloaded in ASCII format, the blanks have been stripped. I can perform this command from both a WSFTP LE v12 GUI client and both the standard Windows FTP client and the MoveItFreely FTPS command line client, and it will work and the dataset has blanks properly retained. I cannot attach data since it is sensitive. |

#7831 | Strip VMS revisions option doesn't work. Here is a fix | closed | Patch | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, The Strip VMS revisions doesn't seem to work on OpenVms servers. It's used at some places in the code, but it's missing in the ParseAsVms() method. I propose this fix that will, in this method only, check if the option is enabled and if we are dealing with a file. If so, we strip the version number from the file. The result is that the folder listing is now more containing the version numbers, and downloading a file will now get the correct filename, stripped of it's version number (which is useless on windows/unix systems). Also, the downloaded file is the most recent one (the most updated version from the server). |

#7839 | TCP connections left open in "wait state" can cause IP DoS lockout | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla appears to not be closing or reusing existing open TCP connections during download from server, relying instead on the server to time them out and close them on the remote end. For some servers that are not configured to do this within a short enough window, hundreds of TCP connections from the same IP can be manifested in a very short amount of time, often triggering an IP ban from the server (part of a DoS prevention strategy). While I can see that this decision allows FileZilla to be really fast on downloads with a high volume of files, this does make it completely unusable for some server configurations. Recommend making this practice optional. Provide a "reuse existing open TCP connections" option under Settings > Transfers to increase compatibility with those server configurations. |

#7847 | FileZilla client sometimes does not send PASV, LIST -a after receiving LIST response | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Sometimes FileZilla will - on repeated connections - fail to issue the PASV and LIST -a commands despite geting a "226 Transfer complete." after a LIST command. This happens on the same server, same remote directory, same conditions as when it works, but when this happens, it almost always continues, each time I abort session and reconnect, or when I restart FileZilla. I have had to reboot the computer, which solved the issue on several occasions. Only once did it work again without a reboot, after 3-5 times reopening and re-trying with FileZilla, then taking a break, before trying again. It appears to be the client not responding to the LIST command response, as normally the client should issue PASV in response to "226 Transfer complete." For example: Status: Resolving address of ########.### Status: Connecting to ##.##.##.##:21 Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... #7853 | Multiple FTP Transfers and Speed Limits. | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I routinely start 6-8 long parallel file transfers from my ONE host to my local PC. In general this works very well, including respecting any up/down speed limits that I set. However, there is one specific case where this breaks down. The transfers seem to "set max their speed" when they are started, some are slow, some are fast. The first ones that start usually run very fast, the others usually end up going much slower. The problem being that after the fast ones finish first, the slow ones do use the extra bandwidth and continue running as slowly as if there were other fast transfers still present. This means the slower transfers take a VERY long time to finish even though there is plenty of unused bandwidth available. They never increase their speed up to the speed limit once the other transfers complete. All of the active transfers should adjust up to use available bandwidth equally, and dynamically increase/decrease speed as transfers come/go. |
