Custom Query (4044 matches)

The OS X client crashes on while unzipping. See attached screenshots for details.

When I try to create a Custom Filetype Association in the settings, FileZilla strips out the space when I try to specify

php "/Applications/Sublime Text.app"

. I get a pop-error window which reads:

Failed to validate settings Associated program not found: "/Applications/Sublime

I've tried entering the following different specifications:

(As well as other variations without the "-open") Interestingly, double quotes and double backslash got VERY close.

Since there are work-arounds (I believe), this is not a barn-burner. It may be a documentation issue, I just have not able to google an answer that works.

BTW, cut'n'Paste is very quirky /and/or not working in this settings dialog as well as the error message window.

...Wait a minit! Now the double quote double back slash does not preserve the space. I swear it did-- Is this related to the cut'n'paste issue? I must be loosing my mind!

if localized, the name changes, for french it is 'Téléchargements'

I am using leopard mac osx, when i edit a file from the FTP (with my editor), i close the file, save it, and I return to FZILLA window, then I can see the main window, but I can not get the windos that says..... changes, upload the file.... because it can not get the focus, but main window neither, so i have to kill the fzilla.

I think it is a problem with the interface. it's not developed thinking in leopard.

I run leopard in an macbook 2,2ghz(core duo intel) and I can see in the about, that fzilla is compilled for powerpc platform, perhaps that's the problem.

For > 1 year, loading a directory list causes a crash in Mac OS. Installed multiple OS updates, multiple FileZilla updates, etc. Crash generally happens on directory listing but sometimes takes opening a few directories before the crash happens. I would also note that NO OTHER APP causes anything like this and I am a software developer so please do not blame the OS -- just workaround any OS issue if there is one. Very, very easy to repro. Let me know if you need more info but I think the Mac version, Mac OS version, and FileZilla version are included here. The only 3rd party kexts is the Forinet security/VPN client and .. no .. removing it does NOT make any difference (tried that).

The local site box can only access the root system drive. It cannot (seemingly) access other drives. This is a problem when you've moved your OSX user-account to a different drive.

Autoupdate works fine except that it places the finished app in the Documents folder. From memory it indicates it will be in the Downloads folder, but really it would be preferable if it went directly into the Applications folder, but would then have to handle replacing the current version or keeping both

I uploaded folder and files in Windows XP 3.9.0.1 client without issues. Folder [Képek] with special character (é) is not listed in OSX 10.9 client 3.9.0.2. Other ftp clients could list as [K�pek]

Using Mac OS X 10.5.4 Filezilla 3.1.0.1

Connecting to a site and double-clicking on a file or folder in either the local or remote list "shifts" the view of that pane slightly left, just enough to hide the icons. If I scroll them back to the right, and double click another item, the pane scrolls back to the left again.

This was posted years ago, but was listed as closed and fixed years ago also. Occasionally, when downloading a file, it will reach 100%, pause, then continue downloading. I also noticed the possibility listed that the server could be sending out the wrong file size, but I have also set up my own FTP server and was able to replicate the problem. In this instance, the file size reported was correct, just a couple megabytes, but continued to over 5 gigabytes.

When sorting files on a remote server by date, weird behavior occurs at the UTC month boundary. Sorting by ascending date puts files from 01 October (UTC) before files from 28, 29, and 30 September (UTC). Expected behavior would list files chronologically, with 01 October (UTC) coming after the others.

Both my computer and the remote server operate in America/New_York (currently UTC-04:00), so the start of October (UTC) was at 20:00 EDT on 30 September.

When updating via Help->Check for updates..., FileZilla attempts to connect to a URL to download the new version, but the progress bar stays empty and FileZilla freezes and the dialog gets "(Not responding)". Killing the FileZilla process and retrying eventually works, but not necessarily on the second try.

Seems like FileZilla might be handling update-download connection failures poorly.

Versions: 3.1.1 and 3.1.1.1 (Not 3.1.2 since there hasn't been an update to download with it yet.)

Sorry I don't have any further details. Hoping someone else has experienced the same problem and can add info.

When attempting to download the client from this site ../download?filename=FileZilla_3.2.1_win32-setup.exe

I receive a 502 Bad Gateway error.

Within the site manager, cmd+v triggers the bookmarks shortcut (cmd+b) instead of pasting.

I get the attached error message on exit.

Reproduction steps: 1) Start FileZilla. 2) Connect to a server. 3) Right click some file and choose View/Edit. 4) Exit FileZilla (answer Yes on confirmation dialog).

When there is a folder with realy a lot of files, then the server sends a timeout during getting the filelist. As result you are not able to delete the folder!

Open bookmark in new tab doesn't seem to work. The new tab becomes Not connected and it uses my current one.

The detection method used by the "Open" menu entry when right clicking on the Local files list seems to be flawed. On video files associated with Video Lan Client it reports:

The file 'E:\folder\file.avi' could not be opened: No program has been associated on your system with this file type.

Double clicking the video files in Windows explorer or Total Commander works and VLC opens the video.

For other extensions unrelated to Video Lan Client, like .txt, .doc, .pdf it works properly.

The OS is Windows 2003 Standard, 32bit.

I'm willing to run debug versions of Filezilla, just let me know.

I often use many files for editing at the same time in one editor session( Textpad 5.3.1 from Helois Softwae solutions) . In the editor is the option 'Allow multiple instances to run' set to NO. When I open a selection of files the editor runs more than one time with a varying number of files opened. Quite annoying when one has to do the same changes for each opened session. I don't meet this problem when I use Explorer or WS-FTP 95 LE

Using FZ 3.1.2.

On the local side, when right-clicking a file and choosing open, the associated executable opens, but the filename isn't passed to it, or is passed incorrectly.

Example: I right-click a PHP file which should open in Dreamweaver. DW opens, but acts as if a new file is being opened. Does not appear as if a filename was passed to it.

The way to name a path in OpenVMS is for example:

devicename:[folder.subfolderlevel1.subfolderlevel2]

FileZilla shows the above example as:

[devicename/folder/subfolderlevel1/subfolderlevel2]

From within FileZilla trying to change directory by typing them in from some ware else to:

[devicename/folder/subfolderlevel1/subfolderlevel2]

will fail.

Canging to

devicename:[folder.subfolderlevel1.subfolderlevel2]

works fine.

On the OpenVMS system you would find files with the extention '.dir'. They represent the folders/directories found in the current folder/directory. They should be shown as folders in the Remote site folder tree. They are not. So you cannot browse your way down the tree.

OpenVMS supports posix, but to use the /folder/subfolder/subfolder way of path name only works if the server is specially configured for that.

I try to use FileZilla from Windows to a FTP server on OpenVMS 8.3.

As I see it, when sftp is chosen, the "Remote site"-field should always be left empty by the program. The path written there should be considered relative paths to the current, and when enter is pressed, it should be added to the current path, with an "/" as a separator.

FileZilla should not use "[]" when in sftp mode. Maybe that is the main problem?

When FTP is used the dot "." is the correct separator between levels in the folder hierarchy, but apparently not when Sftp is used.

I found out that the error does not appear when using plain FTP. It is when using SFTP it malfunctions.

So I compared how Puttys psftp acted. Here is a complete conversation:

Part 2: ==================================================================== When SFTP is used, FileZilla needs to recognize that files like *.DIR;* is lower levels of directories/folders, so that they should be listed as folders in the Remote site folder tree.

Attempt to list login directory (or any other) generates invalid file reference. See below:

The difference is obvious.

Filezilla is opened and a connection is made to my remote server. I CMD-click multiple files and click EDIT (my editor is Text Wrangler on Mac). All appears fine except some of the files are not opened. I re-select one of the files that did not open and click EDIT again which produces "Opening failed. The file <filepath> could not be opened: The associated command failed." Repeated attempts produce the same error.

If I rename the file from Filezilla (and even rename back to the original filename) then Filezilla will properly open the file.

I am currently running FileZilla 3.1.5.1 but this issue has been happening on previous versions as well. When I try to open the site manager (either from the File Menu, toolbar icon, or CTRL+S shortcut) FileZilla crashes. The Vista crash information is as follows:

When uploading from a windows fileshare the transfer fails as FileZilla is opening to large a window for the connection to the server.

When opening a second connection in a new tab the user interface is scrambled , making impossible to switch connections from tabs.

When I click on the buttons above a column to toggle between ascending or descending order, the arrow doesn't switch up or down. This happens only on clientside (left screen), not serverside (right screen). The arrow also stays on one column when another column is clicked.

I recently deleted 2 bookmarks and the other bookmarks changed and had to be redone so they would work the way they did before deleting the 2 bookmarks.

When transferring huge amounts of data (Filezilla Client) I get out of memory errors.

I can see in the taskmanager that FZ is using more and more memory. It starts reporting out of memory after slowly climbing from 57.000 kb to 340.000 kb in taskmanager. I am copying around 50 domains with WordPress sites.

It does not make any difference to free up memory by killing processes after FZ has started.

On my Windows the message log is shown overflow. May you fix it please?

Within the "Files currently being edited" dialog, the bottom buttons include:

• &p → Upload
• &p → Open file

The buttons need separate underlines (or whatever they're called!)

I use two monitors, and when I want to upload a file, which already exists, I get an alert. But the alert doesn't appear on that screen where the filezilla program is opened. Instead, the messege appears on the other monitor in the background.

When Overwrite is selected as default action for existing files when uploading to ftp server, the program sends Appe command

With some files, overwrite is confirmed but although the date of the file changes, the content does not. Also the file size remains the same.

I've set my preferences for up/download to : overwrite if file is newer/filesize is different.

Why then does filezilla, since 3.8, keeps asking me for confirmation/filename change before overwriting? He knows the rule, he knows what i want. Why ask then? Really annoying when transferring a folder with 1K+ items in it.

When I have a long queue to upload and then one file with same name happens to exist already, a dialog will appear asking about action for existing file. Like in file explorers usually, these verifications are asked after the whole queue has processed. With FileZilla they are asked according to queue order. Therefore an unpleasant surprise waits if you have left your computer for hours expecting that all the uploaded files are uploaded. I know that I can choose default action but it depends on the situation.

I like to use Fz to update software on my client machines, but everytime I do that it constantly asks me about what action I want to take.

I always want the new file written over the old.

This is something I noticed this week, so I suspect it's related to the latest release: 3.27.1.

Basically, file lists show numbers/IDs for the owner and group of files, instead of showing their respective names. This is not specific to one hosting platform and a test with another FTP client shows the correct behaviour.

The only exception is WP Engine, which shows user names.

SOLUTION SUGGESTION: When a file or directory is dragged onto itself error message boxes don't have to appear at all. Dragging a file or a directory onto itself in any situation should not result in any feedback from from FileZilla. i.e. FileZilla should ignore any attempt to drag a file or a directory onto itself.

RATIONALE: I believe that the suggested behavior is common across many windowed platforms that use tree-views and file lists for file management. Dragging a file onto itself can be considered involuntary or accidental action. This kind of accidental action is especially common with users using pen tablets where a click with the pen tip often is accompanied with some dragging motion.

Additionally, removing the message/error boxes would streamline the interaction for the user a little, and also reduce a couple of GUI points that demand translation and maintenance.

LOCATION Updating wizard is accessible via "Main menubar/Help/Check for Updates..."

ISSUE Possible redundancy in user interface. The FileZilla update wizard has a set of Back/Next buttons in the bottom of the wizard dialog box. As far as I can tell, "Back" button is never active. i.e. it is "grayed out" in all the steps of updating process.

SOLUTION SUGGESTION If "back" button really is not accessible at any moment during the updating process, perhaps it should be removed. This would imply another question: Is "wizard" approach to updating is the best one.

NOTE This papercut is present both on WinXP and OSX FileZilla Client versions.

While uploading files to any ftp server PC hangs and not mouse moves slowly. Once upload completed all back to normal. Using windows 10 pro 64bit with latest updates installed and using latest version of filezilla.

Good Morning, today I noticed several times the same problem: copying a lot of files (500~1000) to an empty folder I receive (randomly) the message: "the target file already exists, please chose an action ..." In the message box the first file has the correct size, the second file has a size of ZERO byte. I think may be a problem in the creation and copy of the file. I have used FileZilla for about 20 years and this has never happened to me before.

The version 3.11.0 has an bug with this language. All the program layout is showing the English language instead PT-BR.

There is a subtle bug in CControlSocket::ParsePwdReply():

The variables “pos1” and “pos2” are overridden within the inner “if” block so, after it completes its execution, the assigned values get lost and the original variables remain unchanged.

On the SourceForge's download page for projects there is an option to monitor new releases in packages. When a new release is available then all users who monitor that package get an email informing them about the new release.

This functionality doesn't work for the FileZilla Client package. The last email I've received is for v3.0.10.

I am sure that the emails didn't end up being marked as spam and then deleted, I know how to handle emails.

Using 3.3.0-beta1 -- when opening a new tab, the widths of the four directory panes are reverted to defaults. These panes are the local site tree pane, local listing pane, remote site tree pane, remote listing pane. This happens with the layouts with horizontal spacing, e.g. all but classic.

Classic layout remains unaffected as it's only the horizontal layout that's reset to defaults.

I installed Filezilla via flatpak, to have the last updated version, because on Ubuntu Xenial 16.04.06 there are only very previous versions. Then, when I start application by double-clicking on app icon nothing happen. Therefore I try to cut command line inside the application ".desktop" file and paste it on terminal window, to watch what happen when program start. At end the program crash with a "Pango Error", as you can see in the attached file.

I recently installed Parallels on my Mac and since then have been experiencing errors with FileZilla that I did not have prior to Parallels. I am wondering if there is some sort of compatibility issue? Here are the issues I’ve been encountering.

I cannot access any SFTP sites. The user name and passwords are correct, (double checked with the site owner), but it will never let me connect. FTP works as far as pulling up the site, but disconnects me from actually making any changes.

I am the only person in my office experiencing this issue with the same sites, and the only one running parallels, thus leading me to believe it's a parallels issue?

In Site Manager, Parent folder icons do not refresh to 'empty' after deleting all child folders, unless the site manager is closed and re-opened.

We have discovered that any file we upload using the filename "114400227 <any words here>" will be renamed to "11440022_ <any words here>". Uploading using our servers web based platform does not reproduce the error, but filezilla consistently renames this filename.

I'm testing a PROftp server (externally hosted, on the Internet) to debug something. To help, I've also set one up internally on my LAN, and wanted to use Filezilla as the client. I'm testing on the LAN server first so I understand the ports in use etc.

However, Filezilla doesn't switch to PASV on the second time I connect to the server.

I define the server, and make sure that under Transfer Settings, its set to Passive.

I then login (log 1). you can see Filezilla correctly sent PASV. All looks good I then disconnect, and re-login again (log 2) by clicking on the drop-down toolbar. You can see from the log that the client doesn't switch to PASV.

The only way I've been able to re-connect in passive, is to close Filezilla and restart it.

I can't find this in the existing buglist.

I'd like to understand if this is a bug - it does very much look like one to me.

Scenario: FTP server behind NAT

Behavior without proxy: When using FTP passive mode, and the server replies with its real IP address, Filezilla ignores it, uses the original IP instead, and uses the port for data connection. This is absolutely correct.

Behavior with proxy: When using FTP passive mode, and the server replies with its real IP address, Filezilla send a new request to the proxy but uses the server reply. The proxy tries to contact the server's real IP, and (in most scenarios) fails.

I found this issue with FTPS, not plain FTP, but the implementation might be the same. It doesn't help that the traffic is encrypted, otherwise I could have found some workaround. But with encrypted traffic I have no chance to do so.

I'm currently using 3.2.6.1 on a PC running Windows XP. The host and username is recognized but the password fails each time upon connecting. I changed the password to the hosting account and restarted the computer a few hours before trying again but still nothing.

When visiting a sequence of sites to download log files your system requires a second entry of a password despite the box to remember the password being ticked. Sequence of events -

1. Log onto first site, download, no problem.
2. Log onto second site, closing first option.
3. download but one file requires second entry of password whereas the rest don't.
4. Happens on every subsequent site visited during the session.

Also, why force users to go through several barriers to entry before they can report a bug. I have often not bothered becuase of your beaurocratic insistence on accounts. As a result bugs are not reported on time or at all.

I found that Filezilla prompts me to reenter the password when I download a file. This seems only seems to occur when "Do Not Save Password" is checked, and I start Filezilla from the command line.

I searched for a corresponding bug report, but I couldn't find it.

Here is my procedure:

1. Open Filezilla and enable "Do Not Save Password" (Edit->Settings, Interface)

4. Right-click on a file on the target host, and select Download. The file is downloaded without a password prompt
5. Download the same file by dragging the file from the right window to the left. Filezilla promts the user for a password.

I tried to enable debugging, but I did not find any useful output.

I have several dozen SSH key pairs on this system. When trying to connect to an OpenSSH 2 server using the SFTP protocol, and try to authenticate with a password (as provided in the site manager), authentication fails and I end up with this message:

Too many authentication failures for <username>

What happens is that FileZilla uses pageant, detects thse key pairs I have, connects to the server and doesn't send my password, but tries as many of those key pairs as it can, which I have never asked for (I have not imported any of my SSH keys to FileZilla). After a few failed authentication requests (due to non-matching keys), the server drops the connection. My log (edits are marked <like so>):

works around this issue.

I can log into my server of choice using the same password using a different client, but trying to with FineZilla gets me: Response: 331 Password required for riwebserver Command: PASS Response: 530 Login incorrect. Error: Critical error Error: Could not connect to server

Now I know the password is correct. I just used it to log in via another client.

By using the contron panel (CPANEL) I get to access my host/server and so on with the password I have created by using characters such as @. (at, period) and they are repeated in the password, but it seems that FileZilla doesn't get to connect with the server with a password like that, I got the error connection exceeded the time limit, it wasn't possible to connect to the server. But If I use the browser to access my control pannel I get to access with the same password. So, it is working ok on the server.

Add a site via Site Manager and the password is stored in the sitemanager.xml file in plain text:

If I export my connections list, which have some passwords stored, the XML generated has the passwords publicly displayed. I think there should be, at least, an obfuscation on that, since its easy to find out someones' password (which is obfuscated in the program) just by exporting its connections and looking through the XML.

When editing or creating a new site in the site manager, pasting the IP address in the Host field creates a new favorite.

I don't know if this is a bug or a feature, but I have to use right click > paste to do it. It's really annoying. Been this way for at least 1 year.

Would like to proclaim a problem with paths. Namely, very often happens that when I send a file from the desktop, rather than address the path C:\Users\Tom\Desktop\index.html , I have C:\Users\Tom\Desktopindex.html (no "\" on the Desktop ), Which prevents the dispatch of a file. The problem does not occur when I send the file to disk. I have FileZilla 3.3.4rc1. This problem occurs on the dispatch file.

With homes on DFS and %AppData% redirected to homes (roaming profiles) following paths d/dfs/.../.../%username%/%AppData% gets interpreted as d:/dfs/.../.../%username%/%%AppData% . So d/ is rewritten as the drive d:/ , this means settings in %AppData%/Filezilla/ are not written and you get a whole bunch of Error Messages "cannot write xml files".

Paths without leading '/' character won't work.

I'm trying to retrieve a directory listing from a ftp server. I suspect that the listing fails because the path on the server doesn't have the leading '/' character in it. So for example if you would connect to a normal Linux server the path could be "/example-path/", but on this server the correct path is "example-path/". The PWD command returns the correct path (without leading '/') from the server so the problem is not with the return value from server. The problem is that Filezilla doesn't understand the returned path.

Every command line client on Windows and Linux I have tested work with this server. So the problem is not with the server, even it does use quite unusual directory structure.

The problem is with both FTP and SFTP.

I edited the log by replacing information with [SENSORED] tags, even the path it returns. Apologies about this, but I'm working in a company where I don't have permission to reveal any information about the systems we use, not even the paths on the server. But I hope the explanation above will give you enough information about the problem.

First, a little back-story. At my place of work, I can connect to our sFTP server because our IP is white-listed. My home address is not, so I can only access our server files via FTP when I work from home.

Restarting a queue in a FTP connection that was made in an sFTP connection will fail, even if it's the same host.

Steps to Reproduce:

1. Start on an sFTP Host Connection.
2. Build a queue of files to download, but do not process yet.
3. Disconnect / Move to a FTP connection at the same host location.
4. Begin to Process queue.

Result: File transfer does not succeed.

#1. I have seeing that some files are not getting transferred to point B from A, but the failure is not written in the filzilla log. There is no mention of the fact the transfer never happened.

#2. Some of the files being transferred are being "renamed" by filzilla. For example, if I have a filed named, audience.jpg. when Filzilla transfer to from a server to a server, it changes the name to Audience.jpg. How do I stop it from doing that?

If the user name for a session includes an @ symbol, e.g. matt@foobar, the FTP session tab is labeled as matt%40foobar@…. The same thing happens in the list for the pulldown to the right of the Quickconnect button. I don't remember this percent-encoding, i.e. %40 = @ being used until what must have been a fairly recent version. I'd prefer to see matt@foobar@… even if that means showing two @ symbols. I'm attaching a partial screenshot of an FTP session tab where domain name is partly blacked out.

You did and wonderful job here, from the last version i saw you made a lot of improvements, all do it seems that there is still an problem there. What happens with me is that I have a local ftp server and I just want to backup my files from the laptop so that I can format it, I put all the files in queue and I start transfer, because there are to many files in a small amount it seems that it get stacked and it just loads in memory and after stop responding. For ex I had 45 Gb to transfer but there were something like 700000 files so now I still have 139500 files and 3 Gb but it already start to respond harder and harder, I just looked in processes and I have allocated for filezilla around 595,190 K and If I leave it on pause it starts to go down but very slow. Do you have any solution in this problem, until now all the other software crashed, this one is the only one that still resists. Thank you and i`m waiting for your reply.

I've found a bug while trying to transfer a file from a Solaris 8 system to a Win2k3 system (NTFS).

I had no permission on the windows machine but FileZilla transfered the file anyway.

When I looked into the transfered directory the file wasn't there although the FileZilla log indicated that the file transfer was completed successfully.

When I tried it again it prompted me that the file is already there and would I like to override it - which can't be true (as you can rembere I don't have any writing permissions on the windows machine).

I just upgraded to the newest version of FileZilla 3.2.1. and can no longer uplaod files. Before I upgraded to the newest version of FileZilla I had no problems uploading files. I ran the connection wizard with the following results:

I was using the application without problems right up until I upgraded to the latest version. Now I only have read only. I worked with our systems mgr using my credentials on an older version and there are no problems.

OSX 10.15.7, FileZilla 3.60.2 Downloaded FileZilla_3.60.2_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2 and unzipped using WinZip. The SHA code matched. However, FileZilla.app would not open. Fixed the problem by running chmod -R 744 FileZilla.app Suggestion: set all file permissions correctly in the download file so this step is not necessary.

Also tried to update on another machine, OS 10.14.6; same thing, same fix.

I use public key authentication for sftp. When files are transferred with FileZilla Client 3.10.0 file permission are not being set properly. They are being set to 000. Previous versions handled the permissions correctly.

I am using version 3.51.0 of FileZilla Client on a Windows 7 PC. After quitting the Site Manager Ctrl-S dialog label persist in the upper left section of the desktop on top of all other windows. The only way to get rid of this is to restart the PC

Something seems strange with the way the client is handling responses to readdir requests.

I just finished support to handle this kind of client behavior in a SFTP server I am working on but FileZilla does not seem to handle the replies correctly, complaining about wrong request id.

Maybe I'm missing something obvious here but looking at the order of sequence ids send by the client and the order in which the server sends its responses, the listing should end successfully.

The server is closed source so I'm unable to share code or make it available for testing.

Downloading a WP installation from a plesk server using no encryption (insecure) resulted in several of its core and plugin files downloaded with what I assume is some sort of binary/invalid data in them along plain text. Samples of the affected files include .CSS and .PHP files.

Attempting to copy the contents (copy-paste) results in truncated data up to the point of corruption.

There were no errors or warnings displayed on the log area during download.

Damage occurred during download and corrupted data was uploaded 'successfully' in that is seems to match the corrupted data.

A second attempt to download the same WP installation resulted in errors on the same files but damaged data occurred at different locations.

The polish translation is properly displayed only if german locale is present. If there is no german locale then all strings are displayed in english.

If the local folder (no matter it's located in HDD or external USB drive) selected contains more than 10,000 files (in my case 14,600 JPEGs, with average file size <1MB), I quitted the FileZilla client and re-opens again, it takes at least 5 minutes to see the interface (not even started to connect to any server). My iMac was idle at that moment (no other software using significant resources).

Can the startup performance be improved?

I dont know if it's only a FileZilla problem but it came up two times after i used the programm. All entries in the menus are black (black font and black background) until i move the mouse over them. THen they become visible. The problem exists now in all popup menus of my operating system (win xp sp3). Entries are black when i open a popup...very annoying. It's NOT a problem of a visual style!
