Please fix this! This bug is very, very old. A selectable download location in preferences would even be a better solution IMHO.
FileZilla 3.13.1 on OSX 10.10.5.

Tickets 9581, 9917, 10282 have been closed, as duplicates of this ticket, in error as this is not fixed.
Mac OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite
Filezilla version 3.15.0.1
The documentation and the 'Updates' pane in settings state that updates go to the ~/Downloads directory. They are still going to the ~/Documents directory.
Happy to testif you need a tester on Mac OS.

Bug still exists
macOS Sierra, Filezilla 3.23.0.2
Also the download files are left behind and are not cleaned up plus the binary is left in ~/Documents instead of being replaced in the /Applicatio directory.

This is still an issue with 3.24; even worse, the archive is unpacked automatically and both it and the new version of the application remain in Documents. The app itself doesn't close. You have to Quit, move the update over to Applications, and relaunch. Very awkward updating and not at all like the Windows version. Updates should automatically extract, close the old version, update it, and relaunch. Filezilla does nothing like that at all. It would be better, if this ancient bug can't be fixed, to just alert people to the existence of a new version and let them download it themselves. Frankly, I use MacUpdate for a seamless experience (I don't work for them), and if a 3rd party can get the update process right, why can't the project contributors figure this out?
Huge number of changes since ticket was created and I do not have access to an OSX installation to test if this is still a problem.
Could you please reopen ticket if issue still happening in latest version of FileZilla?
Thank you.
