#4866 | FileZilla 3.2.8 crashes on Windows 7 Ultimate RTM | normal | outdated | 15 years | Windows
Description |
Just installed FileZilla 3.2.8 Client on an HP 2133 "Mini" running Windows7 Ultimate. It crashes a couple of seconds after the Welcome splash screen is dismissed and the main interface window loads. A desktop running Windows 7 Ultimate RTM (which was just cleanly installed) does NOT show this problem with the same version of FileZilla Client. Removing and reinstalling FileZilla Client on the problematic machine makes no difference. |

#4867 | Problem customizing column headers in version 3.2.8 | normal | duplicate | 15 years | Windows
Description |
Right-clicking the header bar within the local and remote file windows brings up the Column Setup dialogue for selecting the columns that should be displayed and the order in which to display them. Changing these configurations by checking and unchecking the boxes and using the move up and move down buttons will change the visibility and location of the column headers, as it should. However, the file details below do not change with the column headers, as they should. For example, if you uncheck the Filesize box in order to hide that column, the header goes away, but the column containing the Filesize information for each file is still listed below. Only now it appears under the Filetype header, as the Filesize header is no longer visible. And the Filetype information is listed below the Last Modified header. The file detail columns do not change visibility or order, no matter what settings you make in the Column Setup dialogue box. This behavior has been confirmed on two separate machines, although both are running the same version of Windows. |

#4872 | Reorder columns only changes column headings not content | normal | duplicate | 15 years | Windows
Description |
To reproduce: Right mouse click on a column heading in either the local or remote file pane. The "Column setup" dialog is displayed. Select (highlight) a column, then click either the "Move up" or "Move down" button. Click "OK" then view the pane. The column headings will have changed order BUT NOT the content. For example, if the order was 'Filename,Filesize,Filetype,Last modified' and you move 'Filetype' up, you will see a column heading of 'Filetype' with numbers beneath, and a column heading of 'Filesize' but the column contents are type names such as "zip file" or "batch file". #4881 | Downloading failes, not renaming - charset issue (iso-8859-1) | high | rejected | 15 years | Windows
Description |
First of all: I have read http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_Set and you could reject this request simply based on the fact that UTF-8 isn't used. However, please read on. The problem is that renaming works, but downloading fails. I would have understood if both failed. This inconsistent behavior seems strange and is a bug in my view. The server is a CentOS 4.7 with OpenSSH 3.9p1. It's using iso-8859-1 as default charset. When FileZilla connects, it deactivates UTF-8 (because the output of the ls command contains illegal characters I guess - a test file named "æøå.txt"). When I try to download the file "æøå.txt", it fails: Command: get "æøå.txt" "C:\Documents and Settings\Hans\Desktop\æøå.txt" Error: /home/hans/æøå.txt: open for read: no such file or directory However, renaming works: Command: mv "æøå.txt" "æøa.txt" Status: /home/hans/æøå.txt -> /home/hans/æøa.txt It's probably my lack of knowledge when it comes to the SFTP protocol, that makes this behavior weird to me. Thanks for your time and effort - FileZilla is great! Regards, Hans |

#4899 | Site Manage Drop Down | low | wontfix | 15 years | Windows
Description |
I consider this a bug, but you may consider it a 'feature request'. Here is the break down of what happens. I have many many sites saved in the Site Manage, when I click the down arrow on the Site Manage icon, I have a list so long that I can't see any of the sites past 't' in the list. There is an arrow on the top of the list, but not on on the bottom to scroll down the list. For sites below 't' I have to go into the site manager and click connect. Not a huge deal, but I would LOVE to see a version update that included this feature/bug fix. As it would make my life a tad bit easier. |

#4906 | Default file action of overwrite if size/date different results in rename | normal | duplicate | 15 years | Windows
Description |
From menu: transfer -> default file exists action. In uploads drop down select "Overwrite file if size differs or file is newer". Note that while I was documenting this problem I also discovered that the same thing happens when the default file action exists setting for upload is set for overwrite if different size or newer. Upload file which does not meet this criteria. A dialog box occurs which asks to rename the file instead of skipping it. Unfortunately the attached log does not show the fact of the rename dialog appearing and it being cancelled as it only shows that the file is being skipped. In fact the files being uploaded is the second time for them and should have been automatically skipped. The attached log shows every file as being skipped but in fact the rename dialog was cancelled. Note that I aslso edited the log to remove server name/ip and user information FZ version: FileZilla Client Version: 3.2.8.1 Build information:

#4909 | update to 3.2.8.1 doesn't clean up hot-key shortcut | normal | wontfix | 15 years | Windows
Description |
Small bug, not devastating, but perhaps easy to fix -- I use a desktop icon and hot-key of Ctrl-Shift-Z (I know, odd choice, but I doubt the choice matters for this bug) to start FileZilla. When I updated to 3.2.8.1, the installer over-wrote my desktop icon with a new, clean one. The new icon lacks the hot-key setting. That's fine, I don't mind setting it up again. But the old hot-key setting is STILL ACTIVE -- sitting in the registry I guess. So there is no easy way to get rid of it. I uninstalled FileZilla altogether, then re-installed. Hot-key remained. It is possible to open the icon, then Properties, then Shortcut: and type a new shortcut hot-key combination. Then I have two of them. If I try to enter ctrl-sh-Z at that point (for documentation, or because of naively trying to re-establish the hot key setting), then instead, instances of FileZilla keep opening. |

#4915 | Connect Error | normal | worksforme | 15 years | Windows
Description |
I can connect to my web site just fine if I use Quick Connect. I put in the site ftp.blablabla.com the user name xxxxxxx the password xxxxx and port 990 hit connect and everything works fine. When I try the exact same connect using the site manager with the exact same information it will not connect? I have triple checked all my login information and started from scratch many times with this new version, all to no avail. This exact same login using the site manager worked just fine for a long time with older versions. So either I am doing something wrong, and I don't know what that is, or something has changed that has broken the File Manager for me. Thanks Don |

FileZilla client shows empty dir listing in a non-empty directory on AIX. This happens approximately 9 times out of 10 if I repeatedly hit the refresh (F5). Sometimes it comes back with incomplete listing. To me this sounds like a timing issue. My local system is Windows XP. Remote host runs AIX.

I created a folder called "sites", which appears way down at the bottom of the list of connections. I am able to move connections that fit in the window to the "sites" folder, but not anything outside the window. the only workaround I have that I can think of is to edit the filezilla.xml file when filezilla is not running. idea: some sort of "move to" button that brings up a folder tree list would be useful, where you could click on a particular folder. it would be nice if it remembered the last folder you clicked on. |

#4942 | Icons not updated in lasts versions of FileZilla Client | normal | worksforme | 15 years | Windows

I do not remember which one, but one old version of FileZilla Client came with new fashioned icons (as seen in FileZilla web site). Where they are? When I installed FileZilla Client, I checked to install new icons, but I don't get them. Is this right or there is a bug when updating icons if you have installed a very old version? I tried to uninstall FileZilla completely, deleting all files under c:\program files\FileZilla FTP Client, reboot my PC and installa again; but the old icons remain. |

#4943 | Download of or deletion of folders not working | normal | fixed | 15 years | Windows
Description |
Using 3.3.0-beta1, after using the program for a while to upload and download files and folders, when trying to delete a folder on the remote server, or download a folder, including the folder itself, from the remote server, FileZilla will just ignore the command. Uploading local folders to remote server works fine. Renaming remote folders works fine. Dragging a remote folder into another remote folder is also fine. If I try to download the whole folder or delete the whole folder it will do nothing, not even attempt it, no errors. I am using multiple tabs when this happens, I do not know if that has anything to do with it or not though. On initially starting the program, whether I have multiple tabs or not it works ok, then later on it will [seemingly randomly] stop working. Then the only way to download a folder is to create it on the local side manually, open it and download the files. Note that if you select all files & folders in a folder and download, it will download the files and ignore the folders. |

Description |
If I try to transfer files to or from a server that only accepts one connection to the server i continuously get disconnected and reconnected with the status message 421 I can't accept more than 2 connections as the same user. i think the way this could be fixed is to add a checkbox in the Site manager that disables more than 2 connections. another suggestion: you can make filezilla automatically change the state of the checkbox (permanently, not temporary) to checked when it finds at least two 421 errors per connection. Also can someone put a move and copy function into filezilla, for working with files on the server side? thanks! |

Using Version 3.2.8.1 Uploading PDFs appears hit and miss - mostly "miss". Tried uploading singly or as a batch with variable results - mostly "Failed". They also come up with screwy transfer rates - a file of 237,334 bytes has a transfer rate of 237.3 Kb/s Uploads via a web based FTP app are successful (so I don't think it's the files' contents). #4954 | Ver. 3.2.8.1 Drag and Drop to shell disabled | normal | fixed | 15 years | Windows
Description |
Hi there! Thank you for providing a valuable and highly useful piece of software. Just recently, I updated the program (version 3.2.8.1) and found that drag and drop functionality from the FTP file navigation pane to the windows shell was disabled. To clarify, when I try to drag a file to my desktop, my mouse pointer turns into the "unavailable" icon (circle with a line through it). I've rebooted the pc, uninstalled and reinstalled the program, enabled the shell extention, modified my registry (according to the forums), and read through the existing tickets as well as the forum, and no solution has been identified as of yet. I can still navigate to the local folder in my left file navigation pane and download from there just fine. It's merely a matter of convenience. Thanks for any & all help! I've attached my fzshellext.txt log, as recommended in the forum. Yours, Chad |

I have not told filezilla to save any password, nor did in the past. I tried to Quick Connect to a server I've never connected in the past, and then closing, opening and reconnecting still did the login without password. If I don't have told explicitly to do so, FileZilla should not remember any password. So, even at 'Reconnect', FileZilla should ask me for the password. |

The Automatic Update feature fails to save the downloaded setup if you specify a name other than it's original name and/or if you try to save it to a folddeer other than the default folder(Tried all combinations). I don't have a lot of experience with the update log that Filezilla generates but, at a glance, it seems to indicate a successfull download (i have included the last download attempt log for review). |

#5000 | Invalidating during file transfer (Windows XP) | normal | outdated | 15 years | Windows
Description |
During file transfer the message loop is not running enough frequently, so it looks like FileZilla is frozen because of file transfer, but it works. The progress bar refreshes only in every 5-30 seconds, or more. Resizing, moving the app. window takes long time. It did not freeze, just does not like to communicate with the user. :-) Servertype: FTPES - FTP over explicit TLS/SSL. With standard / simple servers works ok. |

I am trying to GET a file from a remote FTP site to my local hard drive by dragging and dropping the file from the right pane to the left pane. The transfer works fine on regular file names in the exact same folder that only have normal English characters in them. However, the filenames that have French characters in them are not transmitted because the foreign symbols are confusing the parser and turning into question marks (?). When remote file search is initiated after connecting to a remote UNIX server; and the relevent file name is put and SERACH button is pressed : the dialog box named "Target file already exists" appears for each file in that remote directory. e.g. if I serach for test.scr file and the remote directory has 100 .scr files; that dialog box appears again and again for each of the files. Since, this is only a SEARCH operation and we are not transferring a file; the above metioned dialog box should not appear when we serach for file. |

I just do a right click, then uncheck 'Traiter la file d'attente' and then recheck and the download restart until it stops again at a later time, on the same file or not. I was unable to focus a type of file, a file size or something. I never have this problem with the 3.2.8 and previous versions. FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.0.1 Build information:

#5020 | Windows: FileZilla update uninstalls previous version | normal | rejected | 14 years | Windows
Description |
When FileZilla updates on Windows automatically (latest update was to 3.3.0.1), it uninstalls the previous version first. This is annoying, because the startmenu sorting is broken afterwards when sorted alphabetically. It also forgets the folder "Local site:", which needs to be set again manually after an update. The NSIS installer should be changed to just overwrite what needs to be overwritten without uninstalling the previous version first. |

#5024 | Trailing spaces in directory name does not work with 'vsftpd' as server | normal | rejected | 14 years | Windows
Description |
Using FileZilla 3.3.0.1 connecting to the popular FTP server vsftpd, we cannot access directories with trailing spaces. Reading the changelog of 3.2.8rc1 suggested this has been fixed, but it is not. Digging in deeper in all the tickets revealed that the server needs MLDS support, which vsftpd does not, so this has not been fixed for this case. |

#5036 | Making Filezilla more intelligent than the user. | normal | rejected | 14 years | Windows
Description |
I got disapointed to discover that the "Host" field in Filezilla Site Manager DOES NOT accept the string "ftp." preceding the domain. MOST FAMOUS ftp clients as Cute FTP, allow you to use this syntax for HOST: "ftp.site.com" BUT filezilla seems to be unable to connect just because of this "ignorable" redundance in the HOST typed. I believe that with a few lines of code you could ignore "ftp." or even alert the user: "Please inform only the domain!" what makes no sense, because if the program noticed that the user input has "ftp." in the beginning, it should simply remove internally by code and SIMPLY CONNECT SUCCESSFULLY. I am starting to use Filezilla (as I am Open Source lover) but I found it so ridiculous that the program DOESN'T connect JUST because you wrote "ftp." before the domain, because MOST ftp programs accept this and it is NOT incorrect. I didn't test it on Linux, so I can not afirm that the behaviour is Windows-only or not. Please add this little intelligence in Filezilla, it is so bad that the program is unable to see that "ftp.site.com" is the ftp of "site.com" |

#5049 | .txt file not recognized as ASCII for transfer | normal | invalid | 14 years | Windows
Description |
I recently noticed that a .txt file from a Unix machine was download as binary to a windows machine, even though "txt" is in the ASCII file list. The file is named like filename.20091204.165157742.txt. I am guessing that the reason for this is because it sees the text after the first "." as the extension and not the text after the last "." as the extension. I would contend that only the text after the last "." should be looked at for the extension. This is consistent with how windows works (don't know about other OSes). |

#5064 | FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 | normal | rejected | 14 years | Windows
Description |
My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network. After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following: Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help. FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine. I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla. I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state. It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature. |
