#5056 | FileZilla 3.3.0.1 hangs when starting up in OS X 10.6.2 | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla 3.3.0.1 has been working fine until today. The software update was from Apple to update Airport Utility. But I don't think that would cause FileZilla not to launch. Attached is the crash report sent to Apple and also the FileZilla Diagnostic report. My System: MacPro 3,1 (Early 2008) Processors: 2 x 2.8GHz 8 core Intel Xeon Kernel Mode: 64-bit Memory: 18GB Disks: 1 x 320GB, 2 x 1TB, 1 x 2TB Optical Drive: Apple SuperDrive WebCam: Logitech Pro-9000 Modem: Apple External Network: 1GB Ethernet Network drive: 1 x Apple 2TB Time Capsule Thank you, Don Leckie |

#5057 | Folder Shortcuts Appear as Both Folders and .lnk Files | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
I'm using FileZilla Server 0.9.33 downloaded on 12/7/2009 (although the server interface reports it as 0.9.33 BETA) on Windows 7 x64 Ultimate and FileZilla client 3.3.0.1 on Windows Vista x64 Home Premium. I was trying to access UNC's defined to the server, but I couldn't get it to work as defined in the forum sticky, and there was no response on the forums. So I thought about it, and decided a shortcut in the Home directory might work. And it did. However, the shortcut appears in the client as both a folder and a .lnk file. The folder works as expected. The .lnk file can be downloaded. I also tested using Firefox 3.5.5 as the client, and both the folder and the .lnk file appear there, too. So I suspect this is a problem with the server. I suggest that shortcuts appear only as the objects they link to. In my case, I should only see the folder in the client. In the case of a linked file, only the destination file should be seen. Perhaps this should be an option in the server settings. But at a minimum, the .lnk itself should not be seen in the client, only the destination. |

#5064 | FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network. After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following: Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help. FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine. I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla. I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state. It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature. |

#5065 | Feature request: Diff against local/remote version of file | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client

It would be useful if Filezilla Client could show a diff of the remote file against the local version, launched via the context (right-click) menu. #5069 | Port number not saving in site manager | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hello, I am creating hosts in the Site Manager portion of Filezilla but the port numbers for some sites that do not use the default port 21 are not saving. I am having to connect to some SSL/TLS connections and they require port 990. After I manually put in port 990 in Site Manager for a site that requires an SSL/TLS connection I am able to connect but if I restart Filezilla the port number is lost and it tries to revert back to using port 21. The verion of Filezilla I am running is 3.3.0.1. Any help is greatly appreciated. Regards, Troy |

Our banking software uses a fixed set of commands to check and then send information to an FTP server. While testing Filezilla, all the commands sent work up to the STAT command. There are other commands issued after that as well, which are PORT, STOR FILES, and QUIT. I'd like to know if they work with Filezilla as well. |

#5088 | Client User Interface : Each server tab should have its own message log pane | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Since version 3.3, FileZilla Client offers a tabbed interface permitting to connect to multiple servers at the same time. But with FileZilla Client 3.3.1, all commands and messages of ALL FTP servers are displayed interspersed inside the SAME message log pane, without any indication of the associated FTP server. That makes the messages inside the log pane very difficult to interpret. In order to improve that, I suggest to attach 1 dedicated message log pane to each server tab. Thanks in advance. |

#5094 | Move cursor to end of file path box upon failing to change directory | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When you type a path in the local site path that is incorrect a message is displayed that indicates it failed to change directory. This is fine and good. What is not is that after you click OK or hit 'enter' your cursor is moved from the end of the Local site path box to the beginning. This is annoying because it requires that you hit right arrow or click to the end of the box to re-enter the new path in the box. If it removed the incorrect path and left the cursor at the end of the box it would be perfect. |

hi, it would be nice than when updating a folder with multiple files, filezilla would first upload any not already existing files , and then overwrite already existing files at the end. I got the feeling that filezilla, just update files in "order". Sorry if I'm mistaken. I think it should give priority to newly added files. By the way, when you overwrite a folder with an other, Win 7 does this: it copy without asking new files, and only at the end, ask if you want to overwrite already existing files. cheers |

#5100 | Portuguese Translation - suggested correction | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I had problems due to a bad translated item in the Portuguese language because the term used to translate the act of "entering a directory" (In portuguese up to now shows "Inserir diretório" - what is wrong in my oppinion) means "insert" and entering is one thing and inserting is another very different thing. The way it is now ("Inserir diretório") suggests that clicking the folder, a NEW SUB DIRECTORY will be created inside the folder instead of opening it. IMHO the best translation for the act of "entering/browsing a directory/folder" would be "Entrar no diretório" that means to "Go into the directory". This words "Inserir diretório" must be changed, this expression is only valid when you are CREATING a sub directory not when you are just browsing it. The correct translation for this item is "Entrar no diretório" |

Once we accept the certificate once, we never have the issue again (as long as we select to save our answer so it doesn't ask again) however, it would be nice if filezilla could authenticate wildcard certs similar to what IE and firefox do over regular https for wildcard certs. 2) There is no way to see the downloaded SSL certificates so that you can review the list / clear it if necessary to force an full SSL cert check again at the next connection. #5119 | Upload to FTP Server On Unix | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Product FileZilla Client 3.3.1 https://www.ohloh.net/projects/filezilla/download?filename=FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip The client version was downloaded on Wednesday, January 06, 2010, 6:47:07 PM. The client file name: FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip The link used to get the file: http://d10xg45o6p6dbl.cloudfront.net/projects/f/filezilla/FileZilla_3.3.1_win32.zip Originally, the file as shown by Windows XP, displayed a file size of 15,569 bytes. I uploaded the file to the Linux server and FileZilla read a file size of 15,501 bytes even though Windows reported a 15,569 byte file size. I discovered that one specific character within the file caused the problems. I believe it was a null (character 0) character that caused the problems. Anyways, I do not know if FileZilla 3.3.1 failed to report the size correctly or if the Linux OS failed to report the size correctly. FileZilla showed two different sizes for the files on the two different systems. I copied and pasted what I thought was text to a file but it had a character in it that SciTE accepted (but displayed as a space character Hex:20h, Decimal:32). I ran into this problem once before a long time ago, but I believe I used WS-FTP32 in that case. Anyways, the problem that exists with FileZilla, as I see it, is that FileZilla would be a little better if it analyzed the file before it uploaded it, and if FileZilla found a binary character in an ASCII (text) file, it probably should alert the user. One other thing, if it detects that the uploaded file is 15,501 bytes while the file to get uploaded (the source) is 15,569, I feel it should report that to the user with a possible explanation for the differences in size. #5128 | Filezila client timeout. | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client

With filezilla set to passive mode, a new connection to the server is created. This session will remain logged in for the duration of the server timeout setting. For whatever reason, the time out seems to change after a file is uploaded. |

#5129 | Filezilla forgets my default "File Exists Action" | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have my default "File Exists Action" set to "Ask For Action". I connect to a server by FTP. The first time I upload a file it asks me what action to take and I choose "Overwrite" and I do not select the "Always use this action" box. I can repeat this upload many times and it behaves correctly allowing me to choose to overwrite. After I have worked on something else for a while while leaving Filezilla running, making code modifications, for example, I then upload the same file again and it has forgotten that I want to be asked about overwriting. The client continues to fail to prompt me until I restart the application, then it behaves properly again for an undefined period of time. The method I am using to trigger an upload is to drag a file from an Explorer window into the file list box of the Filezilla GUI. The times it has occurred, Filezilla has always been partially hidden behind other applications but I don't know how that affects it. I will try some additional testing and see if I can reliably reproduce the problem. |

I am running Win <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>XP</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>SP2</font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>v3</font>.3.1 First of all when clicking the toggle processing of the transfer queue button on the toolbar doesn't stay depressed. Also if I double click on any local file it immediately transfers the file even though the button doesn't indicate that processing is enabled AND there is no check on the Transfer > Process Queue menu item. When there are files being transferred then both button and menu change to show that they are enabled from the disabled state. So what's the point? I would like to halt all processing and set up a transfer queue and once I'm done adding and removing files from the queue, I would like to toggle the processing and let <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> do its magic. I would also like to export/import a queue and I'm assuming that's what the menu items do but unfortunately I can't stop <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> from transferring in time to test that. Also if I manage to quickly hit the toggle button while it's transferring I can stop it, but as soon as I add something else to the queue it start back up on its own without any indication that I want it to. Thank you for all your hard work. <font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'><font style='color:black; background-color:Yellow;'>Filezilla</font></font> is an amazing utility. |

#5164 | Accidental single click file renaming | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When navigating through folders a single click very often leads to a file or folder renaming. More than that, sometimes when I double click on the folder - it requests this folder's contents AND activates renaming feature, so when it finishes listing new folder - old renaming box stays on the screen, as if now you are renaming a file or a folder inside this new listed folder. If you hit Return - then a file in this new folder will be renamed to the name of a file from a previous folder. I think it's a high priority bug, since I had to stop using Filezilla completely. |

#5166 | Completely hide the local directory pane | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Because FileZilla supports drag-and-drop, i thing it woulod be a neat option to have a button next to the two "Toggle display for the local/remote directory tree" with "Toggle display of the local file borwser" which would hide *both* the directory tree and the file list of the local file system. Rationale: in this way i can add in the registry a new action "FileZilla..." attached to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\Shell" and to "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell" which would simply open the FTP client window without the local file browser view, and then i can just drag-and-drop files and folders from explorer (or nautilus or whatever) to/from the remote FTP window. I think it's such an easy thing to do that it'd worth the half-an-hour effort. |

Very often when using FTP, I find myself editing two or three files in different folders (for example I might have CSS, Javascript, images and HTML/PHP all in different folders). When it comes to uploading though, I have to switch folders constantly to upload them. It would be great if there was a mechanism to assign files to a "repeat upload" state, then when I've edited them, I click one button to upload them all. The only thing that comes close currently is you can go to the "Successful transfer" tab, highlight some files and choose "Reset and requeue" from the context menu, however this only works once - you have to do the above again for subsequent uploads - plus you have to click another button to "toggle processing of queue". |

#5168 | gcc compiler switches -O2 and -O3 generates bad code. use -O | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have written a SHA512 implementation for my own use, and I could not get get the right test results with integer calculations using gcc -O2 or -O3. So I am saying that gcc -O2 and gcc -O3 both generate corrupt, improper code. gcc -O generates good code. SHA512 involves a lot of shifts, multiplies, adds. I understand packets (if you are doing that) require calculations as well, for calculating length, size, checksums, etc. so there may be some similarities in the calculations. I suggest you stay away from using -O2 or -O3 and stick with -O for compiler optimization. You may find some bugs disappear once you switch to -O. Suggest you do the same with FileZilla Server. I also use mingw. I used to use mingw, but now I use mingw-w64, since it has TR1 and it can compile 64-bit code. There is also a known compiler bug I discovered (gcc folk won't fix it - talk to them?) that -fpack-struct does not work with iostream, locale, fstream C++ libraries. It will generate huge numbers of errors. They said something like it is not supposed to work together or something like that. (bolderdash) These are not a problem with microsoft or borland commercial compilers. I am basing this bug on the information I obtained in the Help|About dialog where it says "Compiler Flags": FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.1 Build information:

Description |
I have a feeling I already know the answer to this request :) however, it needs to be asked. I would like to have pass through authentication on the Filezilla server to the host os security provider. Specifically, I would like the ability to map an FTP Login (ACustomer) to a Windows Account (ACustomer) for two purposes: 1 - to use the Windows authentication (so password is only stored once) 2 - to use impersonation to validate User Access Permissions to files and directories in the Windows File System. To the user, everything would still look like / behave like vanilla ftp; but this would simplify the administration side of things. Life is too short to duplicate my os/file system security settings in the FileZilla Server UI. |

Resume worked in earlier versions tried. This is now version 3.3.1. I connect to the server, which failed on a 5GB upload with a timeout. In debug logging, instead it says: 08:21:36 Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted It then repeats the whole cycle, over and over until I actually do abort it. Attached is the full log from connection to giving up. 08:21:00 Status: Resolving address of rbac.com 08:21:00 Status: Connecting to 208.68.104.122:21... 08:21:00 Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: 220 192.168.30.26 FTP server ready 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:00 Command: USER rbacinc 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: 331 Password required for rbacinc. 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:00 Command: PASS 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: 230 User rbacinc logged in. 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:00 Command: SYST 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: 215 UNIX Type: L8 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:00 Command: FEAT 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: 211-Features: 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: MDTM 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:00 Response: REST STREAM 08:21:00 Response: SIZE 08:21:00 Response: 211 End 08:21:00 Status: Connected 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:00 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:00 Trace: CFileZillaEnginePrivate::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:00 Status: Retrieving directory listing... 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:00 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ChangeDirSend() 08:21:00 Command: CWD /Viewpoints 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 250 CWD command successful 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ChangeDirSend() 08:21:01 Command: PWD 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 257 "/Viewpoints" is current directory. 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ParseSubcommandResult(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ListSubcommandResult() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 1 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 1 08:21:01 Command: TYPE I 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 200 Type set to I 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 08:21:01 Trace: code = 2 08:21:01 Trace: state = 1 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 2 08:21:01 Command: PASV 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (208,68,104,122,150,29). 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 08:21:01 Trace: code = 2 08:21:01 Trace: state = 2 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 4 08:21:01 Command: LIST 08:21:01 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnConnect 08:21:01 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnReceive(), m_transferMode=0 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file list 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 08:21:01 Trace: code = 1 08:21:01 Trace: state = 4 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferSend() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 5 08:21:01 Trace: CTransferSocket::OnReceive(), m_transferMode=0 08:21:01 Trace: CTransferSocket::TransferEnd(1) 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferEnd() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:01 Response: 226 Transfer complete. 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::TransferParseResponse() 08:21:01 Trace: code = 2 08:21:01 Trace: state = 7 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CControlSocket::ResetOperation(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ParseSubcommandResult(0) 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ListSubcommandResult() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 3 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::SendNextCommand() 08:21:01 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ListSend() 08:21:01 Trace: state = 4 08:21:01 Status: Calculating timezone offset of server... 08:21:01 Command: MDTM 2010-02-08 RbacBaseCase 09q4Base complete.bak 08:21:02 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() 08:21:02 Response: 213 20100209050928 08:21:02 Trace: CFtpControlSocket::ListParseResponse() 08:21:02 Status: Timezone offsets: Server: 0 seconds. #5180 | Large file upload generates damaged file | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Uploading a 16GB file to my FTP in the local LAN (vsftpd on debian stable) ends up with a different file size than the original (tried twice, once smaller and once larger than the original) as a consequence the MD5 is different too and the file unusable. |

#5181 | Add connection history | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Please add a menu pull-down that has a list of saved connections so they can be re-established by the click of a menu choice. This would basically be an extension of teh Reconnect function, only giving some choices of recent connections. I am in customer service and frequently have to revisit FTP sites/directories 3 or 4 times per day, with other connections in between to archive customer data. I may be working with several customers during a day and collecting debugging data from each one, sometimes more than one time during the day. It is time consuming to have to drill down through the same directory tree over and over again. You already have the technology. The Reconnect function is great. It just needs to be expanded to give choices of several recent connections. I have no suggestion for how many connections to remember. Ten or twelve might be enough for me, I haven't thought that far ahead. Thinking more about design suggestions, comparing for duplicates and not saving them would be good, too. In my case, I would need to see more than the FTP server name because I connect to the same archive server for each customer, but the session is unique by the connected directory, which your reconnect function does save. Then how or when would the list be purged? Roll out the oldest entry when the maximum for the list is reached? User can purge at any time? You folks have designed a very nice tool in Filezilla. I'm sure you can come up with a great design for this added function. Thanks for considering my idea. John |

#5182 | Return to parent directory | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
This has been ticketed as feature requests before under http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/1878 but I think it is a bug. On returning to parent directory FileZilla jumps to the first entry on the file list but should stay on the folder just exited. See standard file browser apps how to behave. Navigating with keyboard is essential in a utility like this. Regs, Zsolt. |
