#11056 | FileZilla freezing | moreinfo | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Since versions 3.22.0, 3.22.1 and 3.22.2.1 the program crashes a few seconds after the program opens. I've tried uninstalling the program completely and reinstalling, restart the computer, clean the windows registry and still the problem persists. If you use any version prior to 3.22.0 the program works normally. If I run the program in administrator mode the program works. |

#11057 | String conversion functions failure | closed | Patch | normal | libfilezilla
Description |
Some compilers (eg. mingw) library functions (surely wcsrtombs and, I guess, mbsrtowcs too) fail if the destination buffer size is 0, even if the destination pointer is NULL. In this case (NULL pointer) the function(s) returns the minimum between the real string length and the destination buffer size. So, if the destination size is 0, the return value is always 0. The attached patch turns the size parameter to -1 (this is a trick to set all the bits to 1 regardless of the parameter type) where the pointer is NULL. I see this issue only when behind proxy with ASCII character support only. |

#11058 | Pane reconnection no longer applies synchronized browsing, loses correct path | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When opening a server you can In the past this would preserve synchronized browsing, turning it on after reconnecting. While this used to work fine it is broken in filezilla since at least 3.21: Synchronized browsing will be turned off when reconnecting.
Additionally, the local pane will take the location of the previous loaded directory for that server, while the remote pane will take the location of the remote pane on the tab you were on when you created the new tab with As a result, if you open two tabs for the same server, change directory in one, and switch to the other tab and reconnect, the new connection will open with one directory in the wrong place. I've tested this bug in 3.21.0, 3.22.0 and 3.22.2.2 in windows, and in 3.21.0 in debian Reproduce:

#11060 | OSX Automatic update | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Every time there is an update available, instead of downloading the tarball and expecting the user to extract it, copy it over in the Applications folder (while closing the running instance first) seems like a very complicated process. Other software like SourceTree for example uses some magic to update the application in-place, getting another prompt after the package was downloaded to automatically restart to get the new version. |

#11062 | Filezilla window unresizable in wxGTK with HiDPI display | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I'm running Fedora 24 with Gnome 3.20.4 on a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. Filezilla opens to a very tiny (and unusable) window that cannot resize or maximize. There's no "maximize" icon and double-clicking the menu bar does nothing. Quick Googling led me to similar issues on the GTK side, and a patch was submitted and accepted upstream some time ago. More info on that here: https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=40161 http://trac.wxwidgets.org/ticket/17456 My short-term solution was to use the Gnome Tweak Tool to set my window resolution to "1", resize the Filezilla window and do what I need to do, then use the Tweak Tool to reset the resolution to "2" so I can go about my day-to-day operations. Because this was already patched in GTK I'm assuming there's something that might need to be addressed in Filezilla specifically. Thanks! |

When visiting https://forum.filezilla-project.org/ an error 500 is shown, without any content or specific error message other than the response header signaling a HTTP 500 error. FWIW, i found that https://forum.filezilla-project.org/favicon.ico does not return an error. |

The behaviour I'm expecting is just to see the bouncing icon in dock, without making FileZilla the foremost application. |

#11092 | password database corrupted; resynch needed | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla was working fine, until it suddenly stopped working. I’ve tried resetting my bluehost cpanel password repeatedly, but the below continues to occur. #11093 | Error message upon start in recent VCS checkouts, apparently associated with core dumps | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Recent VCS versions of FileZilla client show a warning message right upon start which seems to be associated with crashes / core dumps that sporadically take place after establishing connections. Both the error message and traces of the crash are attached to this report. Debug symbols were disabled, let me know if this isn't enough. The message is the same when wxWidgets are compiled against GTK 3 or 2. The crashes were seen under GTK 2 only so far which may or may not be by incident. Seen compiling 8034 against wxWidgets from current master on Arch Linux x86_64. |

#11104 | Permissions Change to 644 During SFTP Transfers | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
We're having an issue with permissions during SFTP transfers to an Ubuntu 14.04 cloud server. It looks like this is a client-side issue within Filezilla. Uploaded files are being set with 644, instead of the desired 664. Working with Rackspace support, the umask is set correctly on the server. We've verified files created in SSH sessions retain 664 permissions. We also tested with CyberDuck and file uploads are correctly set with 664. We are wondering if there is a setting we can implement within Filezilla to preserve 664 file permissions, or if you have any insight into what may be causing this issue. |

#11105 | FileZilla Client ignoring failed SSH_FXP_CLOSE | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Dear developers, I am currently working on an SFTP-Proxy project and I noticed a bug in your software. When closing a file handle, according to the SFTP specification version 12, page 35 it states the following:
In my case this is exactly what happens. When a file is not permitted through the proxy, the CLOSE will fail. The SFTP_Client from the command line in Fedora 25 respects that and will display an error if the upload is not permitted. Screenshot from SFTP from command line: However, FileZilla will mark the upload as a success, even though it may have failed. The only way to verify this is to look into the directory, where the failed file will not appear. However, this could be very confusing for our users and can lead to data loss. #11106 | Toolbar icons/buttons vague and button status hard to determine | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
After upgrading to v.3.23.02 on Mac OSX, I was pleased to find new toolbar icons/button. However, the meanings of the buttons are vague. Even more, the status, active or inactive, of a button is very hard to determine visually. As to the vague meanings of the buttons/icons, I leave that to the designers, but I think some more thought should be put into the images to better represent their function. For example, the synchronized browsing icon and the refresh icon are similar but cannot visually tell you what their purpose is at a glance. I realize this is a challenge... On the "status" of a button, turning some features on or off in the toolbar makes so minor a change to the icon, it is very hard to tell if it is active or inactive. I would suggest either a much more bold coloration on the "active" buttons and when a button goes inactive, make it very faint and grayscale only (not just faded version with colors). I am sure there are other good approaches to making these toolbar selections VERY obvious when active or inactive. Maybe consult the Apple Human Interface guidelines for some ideas. They seem to be pretty good at UI design. |

#11109 | Check for update fails to apply the update. | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have always had a problem getting updates to apply after "Help->check for updates" downloaded a new update. I believe I have figured out what is causing that, though. When I start FileZilla, I usually go ahead and connect to a site immediately using "File->Site manager". Then later, after I finish what I am doing I do the "Check for updates" or the program itself may notify me there is an update available. After the update downloads, it almost always fails to install on its own. This time though, I tried to apply the update BEFORE I connected to a site and the updated applied successfully. At this point I can't go back and try it again without uninstalling FileZilla and intentionally installing an older version, but I wanted to pass this along to you for investigation. This has always been a troublesome problem for me. I like to use FileZilla. It works very well. Thank you. |

#11116 | Connection issue, File upload issue, and File edit issue | moreinfo | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
On file upload, the client claims the file already exists, prompting the overwrite/skip options. On client start, when attempting to connect to an SFTP server, the following message appeared in the message log and the connection appeared frozen: Error: Unknown command: "99" The following also appears to be related to the file already existing: Error: get attrs for [file path]: no such file or directory When attempting to open a file, the client does nothing the first time "View/Edit" is clicked. I must click it a second time to open the file. This issue seems specific to version 3.23.0.2 as the issue did not exist in previous versions. Apologies if any part of this exists as a bug report already, but upon skimming 400+ open reports, I failed to see a report specific to these issues. |

#11128 | Multiple instances of a USB volume are created; won't go away even when USB volume is not attached | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
This only started recently though I don't know exactly when. I have a USB drive with a volume name "K8IE" When I plug K8IE into my laptop, a phantom volume is created called K8IE x where "x" is a numbered instance of this phantom drive. So now underneath my local volumes I am showing K8IE, K8IE 1, K8IE 2, K8IE 3, K8IE 4, &c. The files on this USB drive only appear under the last of the instances, e.g., if K8IE 4 is the highest instance, I see my files under it but no files appear under the other instances. The volumes are persistent. If I remove the K8IE volume, all of the volumes remain showing in the Filezilla local drive window, even after a refresh. I cannot delete these bogus volumes, either. I have a screen shot. |

#11140 | WordPress wp-login.php is only transferred partially | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hello. Since a while I encouter a bug with transferring files with Filezilla. I do not have this problem with other FTP programms (ie. CuteFTP pro), but I 'simply' prefer working with FileZilla :-) When I transfer all files from a WordPress installation from the (external) server to an EMPTY folder on my pc, most of the times the wp-login.php files is not being transferred. I get an error message (see attachment 1) "Target file already exists" (although the folder was empty when I started the transfer). When I click OK, the error message keeps coming back. When Ik click Cancel, all other files are being transferred. In the end, the transfer is 'hanging' for a while (see attachement 2), after which I again get the error message. When I click Cancel, I can see in the overview that the wp-login.php file has only been transferred partially (26 of 34 kB). It is quite annoying as in this way the backups I make are never complete. To achieve that I have to manually copy the original wp-login.php file from the corresponding wp version into the folder where my backup is and overwrite the 26 kB file. What is going wrong and what can I do to solve this problem? I am looking forward to your reply. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Monique |

Description |
When updating the app on a Mac from the pop up menu at start up, the app is unzipped into the Applications folder with the name appended with a numeral. This is counterintuitive & highly crappy. I don't understand the though process. It's beyond comprehension. Now you have two (or more as most people just keep clicking on the Update button and the dumb updater just keeps unzipping more appended versions into the Applications folder) versions with different names, and you have to go toss the old app & rename the new one or your shortcuts fail. Brilliant. The app should quit before the file is unzipped, the old app should be deleted, and the new version started. |

#11146 | During client install, choosing "Only for me" does not change default install directory | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
During installation of the client, the installer offers to install for "everyone" or "only for me." Presumably, if you choose "only for me," the installer should not require admin rights. However, during installation, the "only for me" option still attempts to install to C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client, which standard users would not typically have write access to. More preferably, when "only for me" is chosen, the default directory would be something more akin to C:\Users\<USERNAME>\AppData\Local. This could either be a bug or a feature request, but I would categorize it as a bug since many users, especially in a typical enterprise, don't know what they do and don't have write access to. |

#11160 | Autoban failed attempts counter not using 1-hour sliding window as expected | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
Let's start with the example.I have enabled autoban so it bans an IP after 15 failed attempts within 1 hour; a ban lasts for 1 hour. There is this client (single IP) regularly connecting to the server about once every half hour to check for files to download; they use 4 different accounts. Recently, one of the accounts being used was deleted, but the other side didn't get around to turning off their checks for that account. So every half hour or so, there are 3 successful logins and 1 failed login. The problem (besides the obvious: that they need to stop using the deleted account) is that every 7.5 hours, their IP gets banned for an hour, blocking the other 3 accounts. So instead of getting banned if an IP fails 15 times in an hour, they eventually get banned if they fail at all within a consecutive set of "ban for" timespans. Or, with an alternate scenario, if the settings were to ban after 10 failed attempts and they get banned for 999 hours, an IP that had 10 failed login attempts in under ~41 days would get autobanned (for ~41 days). (Tangent/Off-topic: No, I'm not implicitly asking that the autoban counter get reset with a successful login attempt.) What I saw in the FileZilla Server logsHere's a paraphrasing of a log from the other day; I'm not omitting any failed attempts for the sequence: ... 7:27 AM - 421 Temporarily banned for too many failed login attempts 8:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 9:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 9:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 10:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 10:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 11:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 11:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 12:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 12:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 13:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 13:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 14:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 14:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 15:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 15:57 AM - 421 Temporarily banned for too many failed login attempts ... autobanmanager.cpphttps://svn.filezilla-project.org/filezilla/FileZilla%20Server/trunk/source/autobanmanager.cpp?view=markup (r7278) In RegisterAttempt(), when an IP is already in the list, it simply increments the count and resets the timestamp (assuming the max hasn't been reached yet). And down in PurgeOutdated() it only checks that the latest timestamp is within the configured number of hours to ban in order to keep it from being purged. Which means there's no way the code could be doing what the UI promises. On a tangent, considering the changes to the file over the past decade, this could possibly be the same issue vaguely described in ticket #1369, but I really can't tell since there's not enough information in the description. Though considering the description in #4203, that person's walking a tight-rope. :) |

#11161 | Limit Number of simultaneous connections | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hello, I need to connect to a board with a basic ftp which accept only one connection. Then, I selected Limit Number of simultaneous connections = 1. The problem is that FileZilla opens one connection for retrieving directory listing... but doesn't close it. So, when I want to download a file, a new connection tries to establish, but fails as the former one is not closed. So the parameter "Number of simultaneous connections" is not achieve ! Is there a way to solve this ? Best regards |

#11172 | Surprising values of size of site | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I'm sorry, I searched a ticket about my problem but those I found didn't meet my expectations. I join a screen copie in order to be clear. The recap sizes displayed by Filezilla are consistent between local and distant site, but a far cry from reality. I don't understand this artefact because by clicking on each file, the size is good, but as soon as it is a folder, the value does not count up the total size of the folders inside. I don't think it is a bug (because this question has probably been put to you) or if it's intentional, but it's, for me annoying :-( |

#11175 | Be able to limit certain commands / display a popup confirmation | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Would it be possible to limit certain commands that can be used in fileZilla? (possibly a section under the site manager) As example stop the mv command from being run. I managed to drag and drop a folder by accident to the ... (which moved it up a directory) This happened to be a server folder, so all hell broke lose after that. Just thinking that maybe a popup confirmation (ie "Are you want to move x to x / Are you sure you want to download x from x etc.) or limiting commands than can be run on a per server basis might be a good idea. ofc if this is accepted it should be an option under the site manager so that not everyone has to have this feature turned on. Thanks |

#11179 | Theme Icons fuzzy at Scale Factor 4.00 | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
First, Love the product and have had no technical issues with it. Jumped from version 3.19 to 3.24.1 and with that the Theme reset to default. Started working thru Settings>Interface>Themes. Have a large monitor and decided on using the max scale factor 4.0 to make larger buttons. Found that most of the different themes fuzzed at the larger scale factor. Running my Windows 7 Display at the default "Smaller - 100% (default)" setting. Looking for some more color in the icon bar. Thought that "OpenCrystal", "SuN" and "Tango" were the best at Scale Factor 4.0. Thank for reviewing my ticket. |

Description |
When a new version of the FileZilla client is available, it gets downloaded. All well and good. However, the client displays a message that says that the newly downloaded file is in the "Downloads" folder. In fact, it gets put into the "Documents" folder. Either the client should be updated to give the correct folder name in the message, or it should be updated to use "Downloads" instead of "Documents." (I would personally prefer the latter, since it makes sense to use the "Downloads" folder.) |

#11195 | Filezilla flashes on every file transfer | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Can Filezilla be fixed to transfer every file successfully quietly? Every time I alt tab away from Filezilla to a browser or other program it takes over my taskbar and flashes at me until I click it. It just wants to let me know that the file I trust Filezilla to normally transfer successfully transferred successfully. Maybe it could just do this when it DOESN'T transfer a file successfully and leave us alone to go back to our work when it does? I autohide my taskbar and it gets in my way every time I use the client. Why do we have to sit there and watch Filezilla operate when we could be using our time doing something better? Why does it force me to acknowledge that it did what it's supposed to do in the first place, that it successfully transferred the file? Can't it just do that and not blink at me every single time? You may know a good reason I haven't thought of for it to behave like this. But I've seen other clients not do this at all and I can't imagine any reason for it to behave in this way. Can Filezilla be fixed to stop flashing and taking over my taskbar every time I transfer a file? TIA! |
