When downloading a file from server to local directory and the filename already exists, selecting the 'Rename' option displays a pop-up and allows a new file name to be entered.

However when submitting that new file name input by hitting 'Enter' or clicking on 'OK' to download using the new file name, no download occurs and the 'Target file already exists' window pops up again.

Essentially this function which has worked for years is now experiencing a bug issue in that it does not register the new file name and therefore does not download a renamed file.

Conversely though, when uploading a local file to the server, the Rename tool works as expected.

FileZilla is a great tool and I have seen the former arguments to refuse the improvement of Password Security and I understood them fully.

Yes, it is not possible to have a tool that is 100% secure. But the point is to have a tool that is as secure as possible with respect to functions and usability.

The argument against a master password was, that an intruder or malicious code could capture the master password entry "as easy as reading out the config with the stored passwords".

Is it really exactly the same? No, it isn´t.

The probability for an intruder or malicious code to successfully read out the config is much higher then the probability to stay undiscovered in the system (for hours, days or weeks) an then be able to successfully capture the entering of a master password and then read out the passwords.

So FileZilla would with a small improvement be much more secure than today!

So please think over the old convictions and PLEASE add a Master Password to FileZilla to protect the FTP-account passwords in a better way than today.

When transferring files successfully the notification that tells you when ALL files have been transferred while you aren't in the FileZilla windows appears to be delayed and does not appear when the transfer has finished for another 1-2min.

The issue with this is that it locks my taskbar and I cannot use it until this notification is displayed.

Previously, Success message are shown in green and failure messages are shown in red, now all output log are shown in black. This only occurs in new version 3.21.0 and there's no way to change this in settings.

I just updated to Version 3.22 and tried to connect to one of my servers via sftp. but the connection couldn't be established. I can't connect to any of my servers.

After downgrade to 3.21 everything worked fine. So it's definitely a bug in new version 3.22.

One of my users upgraded FileZilla on her Windows PC to version 3.22.0.

When she tries to connect to an AIX server she gets the following message:

Today I updated FileZilla to the latest offered version 3.22.2. After that it will not launch.

Description:

1. See system and crash log in attached file
2. Working user account is non admin

3. After launching the previously installed FileZilla-Version it automatically offered an update to the named version. I chose to update.

4. After this update procedure FileZilla would not launch.

5. Checking all Gatekeeper and SIP-settings - even if disabling - the app would not launch.

6. Redownloading the bundle-installer, installing. But here also app will not launch.

7. Redownloading non installer, but the file FileZilla_3.22.2_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2. Moving the unpacked app to "Programs". Still app will not launch.

8. Repaired permissions through terminal. Restarted system. FileZille will not launch.

9. Started app from download-location. This time app launches with OS-warning. On choosing open anyway FileZilla will not appear with main window.

10. Logged out and logged in with admin account.

11. On launching FileZilla the OS prompted a warning that there was a problem launching FileZilla. The crash-log is attached to this report.

I never had such a behaviour with any FileZilla-iteration before. I always downloaded the new compressed app-file, unpacked, moved to programs and launched it without error.

This is a bug with Windows, but I believe FileZilla can do something about it as well. Duplicate of #10968 but it's rejected and I wanted to provide more information on how to trigger this.

1) Perform a transfer and get a notification about its completion 2) Perform a second transfer that completes while the notification is still up 3) Taskbar and other Explorer elements (win+e, win+d, win+r, win) are now frozen for what seems to be 90 seconds (however, alt+tab works). One cannot work on the computer anymore for as long it is frozen.

If you do a transfer while the notification is up that doesn't complete until the notification is gone, everything works as intended.

The only way to prevent this is to turn off notifications for FileZilla completely.

Since i upgrade FileZilla > 3.20.0, i'm unable to use SFTP protocol to connect Linux host (last test failed with 3.22.2): message "Unable to connect host" I downgrade my version to 3.20.0 and it's work well.

It happened in both 3.22.2.1 and 3.22.2.2. I almost will use FileZilla client to do the photo-downloading job every day from my smartphone in which a FTP server app will run. After downloading finished, I then will delete all the source pictures in server. While the deleting-job is running, if the server app works fine, everything will be OK; if the server app is unexpectedly shut down due to the phone's power-saving mode or my quiting touch, the FileZilla client will give a error message in message log area such as "connection failed". In such condition, One or several downloaded and locally stored files will be modified: the sizes turn into 0, which means the file bodies are lost and only names are kept. And after the server app is re-run and connetion is re-built, the names of those 0-size files will show again in the transfer queue area, not the queued-files page, but the failed-transfers page, it seems the client wants to download those pictures again from server, but failed because they also have been deleted from server already. Then I have to face the situation: I lose these pictures forever because the source in server has be earsed and the local copies have been modified into 0-size.

The timestamp bug is still when you trie to move files from last version of Filezilla (as FTP client) to a SFTP server (in this case Tectia).

When a file change dialog appears while the context menu is expanded the UI ceases to function until the application is left in the background for some time, or the application is forced to quit. Clicking any of the button options available on screen does nothing.

Every year, I upload a schedule.htm to my web site via filezilla. This year, when I opened filezilla, it had a latest version update (which I always do when given the option), and I then deleted old schedule, updated new schedule and I get the following: "404 not found, nginx/1.2.7". I have searched filezilla forums several ways and each time I get 0 results. I have contacted my server, deleted old htm files and re-uploaded. I have uninstalled and reinstalled filezilla, and no matter what I have tried, I continue to get this message and thus, cannot view my schedule. This affects my business, and as it is the start of a new year, this for me is a high priority.

Currently when Filezilla Server is configured to run with TLS 1.2 only there are 2 ciphers that are enabled that cause Filezilla Server to fail a PCI 3.2 audit/scan. These two ciphers in question are:

Hello after upgrading to 3.24.0 I am unable to connect to a site with an untrusted certificate. Similar tickets 11129 11131 and 11152 were closed REJECTED.

These bugs were REJECTED on the basis that a valid server certificate was required BUT IN PREVIOUS RELEASES CONNECTION WAS ALLOWED AFTER A DIALOG WAS SHOWN.

I would like the dialog RESTORED so that I can approve a connection to a shared server -- or a link to a previous release so I can access my business-related server. Thank you for your quick work on this.

I have a client with over 120,000 jpeg files that I backup to a local drive. It seems to take to long for FileZilla to determine if a file exists or not. I can do a CURL search of both directories and then a compare in lest than 8 seconds. If I just let Filezilla determine if a file already exists it takes over two hours to complete. Is there a better way to go? For some reason the dates displayed are not always accurate if a file has been replaced on the server.

Anytime I use FileZilla for moving a decent amount of files or largely sized files it just Times Out and won't get another good connection. This has been happening for the past 6 months, I should've reported sooner but I kept thinking it was fixed everytime I saw a fresh update. It's happened over various OS X versions as they keep making newer ones. It seems touchy and I haven't quite figured out how to fix this in a bypass sort of way.

So let's say I want to download a 1GB file from one of my servers, it is working just fine and then when it may get to, let's say, 40% it just pauses. Then it says Timed Out, continues to attempt reconnecting but fails. Some ways I've bypassed it have been: -Waiting 10 minutes to almost a week -Unprocessing the Queue and waiting, then Process it again -Disconnect, and waiting, then Reconnect -Restarting FileZilla Restarting my computer doesn't seem to fix it, as well as re-installing FileZilla, and I've also triedwiping the server data. This has happened on at least 4 seperate servers for me. And not all of the above work, like previously stated it's a weird bug and seems touchy. Some require multiple of the above to happen, sometimes it just takes a whole lot of time.

The servers run on professional hosts and have not reported any issues or downtimes and did not see why it was happening to me. I have spoken to other users on Windows and they haven't had issues using my servers.

From the last update on I face an issue :

Filezilla disapeared from menu & dock I checked in pamac : it is installed

If I launch it via CLI it is functional.

It appears that strange hidden characters are at the very beginning of the desktop file.

Solution : edit /usr/share/applications/filezilla.desktop, remove the first [ of [Desktop Entry] and any character on the left, then rewrite the [ , and save.

Could the desktop file be amended ?

I get this message when loading the 32 or 64 bit version and the program doesn't seem to be working correctly. I have it loaded on a different machine and it works fine but, this machine with windows 10 doesn't seem to let it load correctly. This is the error message:

Description:Found DLL injection in the FileZilla Client Version 3.25.2, successfully injected dllinject.dll into the filezilla process address space. On successful execution of the attack, temp file is created into E drive as I have written the same logic in the dllinject.dll.

Impact: On successful execution of DLL injection attack, an attacker can create windows user or other malicious activity as I have performed the text file creation.

Remediation: You can prevent this attack by hooking LoadLibrary. In your hook you check against a list of DLL names that you know are part of the process and that may be loaded, or you can check against a list of known DLLs you don't want to load. When you find a DLL you don't want to load SetLastError(ERROR_ACCESS_DENIED) then return NULL. That will stop the DLL from loading.

I've been having issues with all my pages I create rendering me a 404 not found error which I heavily researched for days...and I'm still having issues with these pages not showing up online.

Since I know I should have this solved like days ago, I'm shocked and have checked everything except a Filezilla issue.

I have version 3.9.0.6 because I like the way it's set up.

So...can you please tell me if that version is still working and still able to use? That's 'all' I need to know. Because if it's still working, I can move on to other troubleshooting.

Hello, I need these features to be added in filezilla.. plz have a look:

1. option to remember yes/no option in "File has change" dialogue and we can revert this option from settings too...

2. if I choosen as Yes from "File has change" and also ticked "Remember option", then whenever a file being edited and saved, it'll be automatically uploaded like it do when we click yes...

3. option to change default option on double click/enter on the files list, means, we can set default option to either open/edit on double click/enter pressed...

4. please, provide keyboard shortcuts for actions like edit etc.

I am facing below error to connecting site entries.

Error: Primary connection and data connection certificates don't match. Error: Transfer connection interrupted: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

Even i am able to connect same entries in other PCs & Laptop but these issue occures in 4-5 PC since many days.

We changed the SFTP server settings to a new value but after couple of weeks notice that the settings are reverted to the old server details.

Could you please help investigate this issue.

I'm a new FileZilla user using Mac OSX 10.12.5. FileZilla successfully logged onto my hosting server. Now trying to delete some server-side files. Not finding the functionality/workflow to do that. Web hosting provider could not help me either. Would you please point me to the procedure for this.

Alternative, brute-force procedure is cumbersome and potentially dangerous: GET the whole site, selectively delete files/folders locally, PUT the entire site to a new server folder, then ask host to delete the old one on their end.

My understanding is that SCP is working on Filezilla. I work at Skyboxsecurity and am trying to connect to our Linux server. The connection constantly times out with a unauthorized user. This is not the case with WINSCP with the same credentials. Suggestions?

I accepted the update for the FileZilla program and now I cannot login. It does not ask for username anymore. I had my coworker try to connect and she did not accept the update, but she could not connect to the server either.

I must login quickly to retrieve a file. I also had my IT team remove the program and re-install it. Still not able to connect. I am confident I know my login credentials, too.

I am trying to login to FileZilla and I get the following message:

I get the following error message when I login. I accepted the update and this is when the issue occurred. My IT removed the update and I have the old version 3.26.2. I received a new password and confirmed the Host, username and port are correct. Still cannot login. It is urgent that I get this resolved as I have to download a file Thursday morning.

I'm using FileZilla since Ubuntu 12.04 LTS - here it was 3.5.3. Now I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS - it has 3.15.0.2.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Install FTP server which support both connections types - plain FTP and FTPES.
2. Try to connect in both modes from FileZilla:

2.a. write ​ftp://server in Host field to connect with plain insecure FTP in QuickConnect toolbar 2.b. write ftpes://server in Host field to connect with explicit FTP over TLS in QuickConnect

Expected results:

• Previous version (3.5.3 in my case) reacts on user input as expected. It connects as FTP when FTP was requested (​ftp://server in Host field) and as FTPES when FTPES was requested (ftpes://server in Host field).

Actual results:

• Modern FileZilla uses TLS even if user requested plain FTP in QuickConnect field.

I understand that you care about user privacy, but please make FileZilla respect user configuration. User may want to use plain FTP from QuickConnect bar, not from SiteManager.

Running macOS 10.13 using fresh upgrade to Filezilla 3.28.0 on MBA 2011. After launch and login in host server, attempted to upload files to destination directory. Received continuous (every 5 seconds) 530 authentication error. Unable to upload files at all using this version. Am still using version 3.27.1 on my other machine using the same logon credentials and it works fine. See attached log file.

All of current technologies that provide File Transfer Protocol re upload whole updated and edited file(s) even if the file changes by a minimum of one byte. This is not sufficient in term of upload time, bandwidth usage and logic. While this can be solved and proposed a solution to the stated scenario. By enabling the FTP client and FTP server to treat only the differences between local files and remote files. Thus for this will amazingly reduce FTP transfer time and speed up the process.

FileZilla sends a constant "request-id" in each packet. According to RFC ​https://tools.ietf.org/id/draft-ietf-secsh-filexfer-13.txt:

Each request from the client contains a 'request-id' field. Each response from the server includes that same 'request-id' from the request that the server is responding to. 'request-id' is 0x00000100 in this packet. Replay should contains the same number.

The problem is that FileZilla always sends the same 'request-id'. It makes the log analysis very difficult especially that according to the standard, the SFTP commands don't have to be send in the same sequence. I have tried other client software and this behaviour is present only when using FileZilla client.

I'm not considering this behaviour as a bug since standard says it is not a mandatory to have an unique id, however it is very important feature request for troubleshooting purposes.

When I have a long queue to upload and then one file with same name happens to exist already, a dialog will appear asking about action for existing file. Like in file explorers usually, these verifications are asked after the whole queue has processed. With FileZilla they are asked according to queue order. Therefore an unpleasant surprise waits if you have left your computer for hours expecting that all the uploaded files are uploaded. I know that I can choose default action but it depends on the situation.

I am using the last filezilla version 3.30 64bits and I wanted to inform you about this strange behavior : When a generic proxy is used and configured in Filezilla (FTP connection is send through HTTP CONNECT), after BASIC authentication on the proxy and logon on the remote FTP server, the Filezilla client send the following command :

"Request: CLNT FileZilla"

Most of the remote FTP server breaks the connection when this command is sent. Without a proxy configured, Filezilla don't send this command and the connection work fine. Other client like "Total Commander" don't send this CLNT command, so we need currently to use this tool to connect to FTP servers through our proxies. Whould it be not better to remove the sending of command "Request: CLNT FileZilla" when generic HTTP proxy is used ?

My website is hosted on the wordpress hosting I want to access my .httaccess file and other directories so initially I was receiving a message of 'time out' so I changed the time limit but I am receiving this Status: Connection attempt failed with "ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out".

I use Filezilla to bulk upload images. However, I don't need it to upload Thumbs.db every time I upload a folder.

I'd like there to be a list of filenames that are automatically ignored, if not hidden, from Filezilla. This can extend to other hidden and system files like the .bridge files Adobe Bridge makes when a folder has custom view or rating settings.

This could potentially be used to hide .tmp files of all types as well.

When transferring files of large sizes the server appears to lock the file out and then won't allow you to write to it again.

No AV is install on the system and everything is allowed through the firewall. It will resume normally but after a point it stops resuming and gives a "550 Writing to file failed" in the log. Permissions to the file and everything are okay and deleting the file and starting again gets it uploading again but it inevitably fails.

Currently attempting to change block size to see if this helps with the problem. The file in question is almost a terabyte in size.

When trying to log on to FileZilla Server from a specific client machine, i receive the following entries:

Since a couple of versions of filezilla it is not possible to select files and directories simply by pulling an area around them.

The mouse pointer shows very erratic behavior when doing so (It jumps immediately to another monitor).

What I have tried so far: deleting config file. that didn't help, downgrading filezilla, that didn't help either. Try to downgrade wayland didn't help either.

I can successfully use MS-Windows cmd FTP I login and get this message OK. Current restricted directory is /

Ticket #10832 showed this as closed in v3.17.0.1. I just updated a machine with v3.33.0.0 and our AlienValue issued similar message as in Ticket #10832 (below).

I'm getting a False Positive for my installer file created with reputable Tarma.com installer. The error is Win.Trojan.Antifw-172 I have been using Tarma created installers for many years without incident. I finally was able to upload the file as a Zip using another FTP client. Hello, In previous version 3.34.0 it was possible to edit/delete:download from the search module. With the version downloaded this morning 3.35.0 it is not the case anymore. Is it a bug or normal behaviour due to a chnage of Policy ? See attachment. Rgds.

Running the following command: "C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client\filezilla.exe" ​sftp://[creds]@[site] --local="X:\local path"

In 3.34.0 this opens the remote site and the local directory just fine.

In 3.35.1 this opens the remote site, but defaults the local directory to last used local directory (if I was in "C:\Users\[username]\Desktop\ for example, it would use that) and not the local directory specified on the command line.

From version 3.35.1, all command line options are not working, except -h and --help.

At least I have confirmed -s, --site-manager, -c, --site=<str>, -a, --loal=<str>, --close, and not even -v nor --version are not working, and FileZilla client just starts as no command line option is fed.

The app keep telling me there is a new version, when downloading and install my Imac (10.11.6) chrash every time. I want to disable new version or have a fixed version.

Since the most recent update I've been unable to launch filezilla. I've even deleted the app and re-downloaded it from the website to be sure I'm using the latest version.

I hunted for files in Library to delete to have a completely fresh install but couldn't find any supporting files.

I've looked in Console and it's reporting the following lines which appear to be related to code used the launch the app:

Recent versions of FileZilla will not download certain text log files which contain very long lines or weird escape characters. I know one or the other causes the issue, but I can't tell which is the problem. I can upload these weird text files using FZ, but they cannot be downloaded using FZ. I have tried "auto", "text", and "binary" modes when downloading.

The attached "access_log_search.2018-08-01" file is an Apache server log file in text format from my hosted site. This file is a compilation of a certain type of SQL hack. This type of attack has no affect on my site, but the very long lines or an escape character prevents me from downloading the server log for that day. This is VERY annoying and so I must fall back to other methods to download the log file. While every line in my example log file is weird, just ONE of these weird lines in a log file causes FZ download to fail on that line.

I can understand that if "text" or "auto" modes were used to download, an extremely long line-length or perhaps some weird escape characters inside the file might cause FZ to fail. But I don't understand why the file download hangs if "binary" mode is used. FZ should not process the file contents in that mode. It should just flow the data to my computer.

This download error type seems to be due to a relatively recent change in FZ. I've downloaded these rather strange log files many times in the past. From my experience, the issue seems to have been introduced within the past 6 months.

However, I cannot decide if this is a FileZilla issue or an FTP host issue. My hosting company (Web.com) says this is a FZ issue. I do not have any problems using the online file manager to download these weird log files. But using the Web.com online file manager is a nuisance.

From the verbose mode FZ debug log below, the error line which appears to describe the problem is....

"Error: File transfer failed after transferring 1,400 bytes in 20 seconds"

The retry gives this similar error line...

"Error: File transfer failed"

The full verbose level 3 debug log from is attached as "filezilla.log". I also appended the status screen log from an earlier attempt in "filezilla status window.txt".

By the way, all personal information was masked in both FZ logs. This is a security issue which should be corrected in the FZ log files. The debug logs do NOT need to include FTP hosts, URLs, usernames, or IP address specific to an FTP host.

I have not used FileZilla for a few months. I need to update some of my website files, and when I opened FileZilla to transfer them, there was a new update option. I updated to the newest version, 3.35.1.

I always move 1 file first to test and make sure everything is okay. I moved 1 file over to update. Filezilla said that it updated successfully and the last modified date is today. Then I went to the website to be sure the changes were reflected, and there were NOT!

I checked the source code on the website and it shows that it is still the old file. I am not sure if this is a server or client problem.

All I know is that the new file, with today's date shows up in the public_html area in FileZilla on my computer. And the udpates do not appear on my website and the source code on the website reflects the old file.

Also, when I opened FileZilla, I had to connect to my site. It did not connect automatically. I thought that it used to connect automatically when opening FileZilla. I may be remembering incorrectly here.

I am using Filezilla Server with FTPS.

I was working on our one of the servers to disable TLs 1.0 and fix other security issues.

1) I found that Filezilla FTP server(FTPS 990) supports TLs 1.0 even though I disabled on windows server 2012 R2.

2) I disabled "Secure Client-Initiated Renegotiation" on my server, but while connecting FTPS (port 990) it is supporting "Secure Client-Initiated Renegotiation".

Is there any way to disabled TLs 1.0 support and "Secure Client-Initiated Renegotiation " in Filezilla server by means of configuration. Or can you provide a hotfix for the same in software for configuration?

1. Is there a connection limit for the Beta version of FileZilla Server software
2. What is the time limit for connection?
3. Is it possible to transfer multiple files at the same time and break the connection?
4. What is the upper limit of the number of simultaneous file transfers?
5. Is there a formal or enterprise version of the software?

With the version 3.37.0 of FileZilla Pro on Mac (3.37.1 doesn't exist yet on the store) it became impossible to recursively delete full directories on normal FTP servers. If I try to delete a full directory, no matter what's inside (1 file or 100), I get this error: "451 Delete operation failed (Fsys error=145, server error=1015)".

The issue is software related since with the previous version I could do it and with any other FTP clients (even on my mobile phone) I can perform the operation without any problems on the same tested servers.

Hope there is a solution or that my info can help.

There are quite a few issues when using the Dark UI on MacOS Mojave Dark UI.

Hello, I am using Ubuntu 16.04. When I open filezilla I saw this alert everytime

The file '/home/username/.config/filezilla/filezilla.xml' could not be loaded. No document element found at offset 7495.

For this session the default settings will be used. Any changes to the settings will not be saved.

So for everytime I have to select editor, please help me resolve this issue . I have tried so many thing to resolve this but unable to solve it.

Having issues with uploading files to remote servers.

When uploading, the directories are created, however, the individual files are failing to upload, even though FileZilla reports ALL files successfully uploaded.

I have confirmed this problem using different computers, as well as uploading to different servers using varying configurations. The program specs are below. Note, this issue is present with Windows servers as well as Linux servers.

I CAN go into the individual directories and upload the files without issue.
