#11140 | WordPress wp-login.php is only transferred partially | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Hello. Since a while I encouter a bug with transferring files with Filezilla. I do not have this problem with other FTP programms (ie. CuteFTP pro), but I 'simply' prefer working with FileZilla :-) When I transfer all files from a WordPress installation from the (external) server to an EMPTY folder on my pc, most of the times the wp-login.php files is not being transferred. I get an error message (see attachment 1) "Target file already exists" (although the folder was empty when I started the transfer). When I click OK, the error message keeps coming back. When Ik click Cancel, all other files are being transferred. In the end, the transfer is 'hanging' for a while (see attachement 2), after which I again get the error message. When I click Cancel, I can see in the overview that the wp-login.php file has only been transferred partially (26 of 34 kB). It is quite annoying as in this way the backups I make are never complete. To achieve that I have to manually copy the original wp-login.php file from the corresponding wp version into the folder where my backup is and overwrite the 26 kB file. What is going wrong and what can I do to solve this problem? I am looking forward to your reply. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Monique |

#11141 | Update | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
When updating the app on a Mac from the pop up menu at start up, the app is unzipped into the Applications folder with the name appended with a numeral. This is counterintuitive & highly crappy. I don't understand the though process. It's beyond comprehension. Now you have two (or more as most people just keep clicking on the Update button and the dumb updater just keeps unzipping more appended versions into the Applications folder) versions with different names, and you have to go toss the old app & rename the new one or your shortcuts fail. Brilliant. The app should quit before the file is unzipped, the old app should be deleted, and the new version started. |

#11160 | Autoban failed attempts counter not using 1-hour sliding window as expected | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | wontfix
Description |
Let's start with the example.I have enabled autoban so it bans an IP after 15 failed attempts within 1 hour; a ban lasts for 1 hour. There is this client (single IP) regularly connecting to the server about once every half hour to check for files to download; they use 4 different accounts. Recently, one of the accounts being used was deleted, but the other side didn't get around to turning off their checks for that account. So every half hour or so, there are 3 successful logins and 1 failed login. The problem (besides the obvious: that they need to stop using the deleted account) is that every 7.5 hours, their IP gets banned for an hour, blocking the other 3 accounts. So instead of getting banned if an IP fails 15 times in an hour, they eventually get banned if they fail at all within a consecutive set of "ban for" timespans. Or, with an alternate scenario, if the settings were to ban after 10 failed attempts and they get banned for 999 hours, an IP that had 10 failed login attempts in under ~41 days would get autobanned (for ~41 days). (Tangent/Off-topic: No, I'm not implicitly asking that the autoban counter get reset with a successful login attempt.) What I saw in the FileZilla Server logsHere's a paraphrasing of a log from the other day; I'm not omitting any failed attempts for the sequence: ... 7:27 AM - 421 Temporarily banned for too many failed login attempts 8:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 9:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 9:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 10:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 10:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 11:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 11:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 12:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 12:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 13:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 13:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 14:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 14:57 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 15:27 AM - 530 Login or password incorrect! 15:57 AM - 421 Temporarily banned for too many failed login attempts ... autobanmanager.cpphttps://svn.filezilla-project.org/filezilla/FileZilla%20Server/trunk/source/autobanmanager.cpp?view=markup (r7278) In RegisterAttempt(), when an IP is already in the list, it simply increments the count and resets the timestamp (assuming the max hasn't been reached yet). And down in PurgeOutdated() it only checks that the latest timestamp is within the configured number of hours to ban in order to keep it from being purged. Which means there's no way the code could be doing what the UI promises. On a tangent, considering the changes to the file over the past decade, this could possibly be the same issue vaguely described in ticket #1369, but I really can't tell since there's not enough information in the description. Though considering the description in #4203, that person's walking a tight-rope. :) |

#11161 | Limit Number of simultaneous connections | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Hello, I need to connect to a board with a basic ftp which accept only one connection. Then, I selected Limit Number of simultaneous connections = 1. The problem is that FileZilla opens one connection for retrieving directory listing... but doesn't close it. So, when I want to download a file, a new connection tries to establish, but fails as the former one is not closed. So the parameter "Number of simultaneous connections" is not achieve ! Is there a way to solve this ? Best regards |

#11172 | Surprising values of size of site | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I'm sorry, I searched a ticket about my problem but those I found didn't meet my expectations. I join a screen copie in order to be clear. The recap sizes displayed by Filezilla are consistent between local and distant site, but a far cry from reality. I don't understand this artefact because by clicking on each file, the size is good, but as soon as it is a folder, the value does not count up the total size of the folders inside. I don't think it is a bug (because this question has probably been put to you) or if it's intentional, but it's, for me annoying :-( |

#11175 | Be able to limit certain commands / display a popup confirmation | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Would it be possible to limit certain commands that can be used in fileZilla? (possibly a section under the site manager) As example stop the mv command from being run. I managed to drag and drop a folder by accident to the ... (which moved it up a directory) This happened to be a server folder, so all hell broke lose after that. Just thinking that maybe a popup confirmation (ie "Are you want to move x to x / Are you sure you want to download x from x etc.) or limiting commands than can be run on a per server basis might be a good idea. ofc if this is accepted it should be an option under the site manager so that not everyone has to have this feature turned on. Thanks |

Description |
First, Love the product and have had no technical issues with it. Jumped from version 3.19 to 3.24.1 and with that the Theme reset to default. Started working thru Settings>Interface>Themes. Have a large monitor and decided on using the max scale factor 4.0 to make larger buttons. Found that most of the different themes fuzzed at the larger scale factor. Running my Windows 7 Display at the default "Smaller - 100% (default)" setting. Looking for some more color in the icon bar. Thought that "OpenCrystal", "SuN" and "Tango" were the best at Scale Factor 4.0. Thank for reviewing my ticket. |

#11195 | Filezilla flashes on every file transfer | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Can Filezilla be fixed to transfer every file successfully quietly? Every time I alt tab away from Filezilla to a browser or other program it takes over my taskbar and flashes at me until I click it. It just wants to let me know that the file I trust Filezilla to normally transfer successfully transferred successfully. Maybe it could just do this when it DOESN'T transfer a file successfully and leave us alone to go back to our work when it does? I autohide my taskbar and it gets in my way every time I use the client. Why do we have to sit there and watch Filezilla operate when we could be using our time doing something better? Why does it force me to acknowledge that it did what it's supposed to do in the first place, that it successfully transferred the file? Can't it just do that and not blink at me every single time? You may know a good reason I haven't thought of for it to behave like this. But I've seen other clients not do this at all and I can't imagine any reason for it to behave in this way. Can Filezilla be fixed to stop flashing and taking over my taskbar every time I transfer a file? TIA! |

#11200 | Local file list not updated in Filezilla Client | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
Hi, This is maybe not a bug but an improvement, anyway I think that the local file list should be refreshed everytime that a remote file is transferred to local, since some local files could be deleted or added to the folder and this is not reflected on the current list of files. Right now, when files are transfered from a remote server to local, those new files appear in the local file list, but the actual content of the folder is not refresed or displayed properly. I think this list should also be refreshed when the window lost the focus and then is refocused (means that any other application had the focus). Regards, Carles |

#11201 | Can't Force Plain FTP in Site Manager | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
When creating a new site in the Site Manager, under Encryption, there is the option "Only use plain FTP (insecure)". If you choose this option and fill in the rest of the information, and then click OK or Connect, it still defaults to try and use TLS. In fact, it seems that no matter what option you choose under Encryption, it seems to default back to "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available". Steps to reproduce: 1.) Open Site Manager, and click New Site. 2.) Fill in the standard info, and under Encryption, choose the option you want. In my case, plain FTP. 3.) Click OK or Connect 4.) Go back into Site Manager, click on your site, and view the Encryption setting. It will not be what you chose, but "Use explicit FTP over TLS if available". |

#11205 | Filezilla 3.25.0 client crashes constantly on OSX 10.12.3 | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
I upgraded to the latest version of filezilla on all my mac computers and this version is horrible. All of my macs are updated to osx 10.12.3 and on every computer the new build crashes constantly. Sometimes I open it and it crashes right away Other times I am able to connect to my server, then when I go to load a directory it crashes almost every time. This is the most common issue I am experiencing. I can't load folders for long or it will crash. The odd time it works to browse and download, but sometimes when the downloads are complete, they freeze at 100% and the download hangs there and won't complete. I have a screenshot of this issue. Here is a crash log from when I try to load a directory Process: filezilla [11136] Path: /Applications/FileZilla.app/Contents/MacOS/filezilla Identifier: de.filezilla Version: 3.25.0 (3.25.0) Code Type: X86-64 (Native) Parent Process: ??? #11206 | Timed out SFTP sessions are not getting renewed. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Hi. Since the update to 3.25.0 my SFTP sessions don't come back when they are timed out (Disconnected from server). I make a request, mostly doing a refresh or a cd, the clients logs "Retrieving directory listing of /foo" in the status window and nothing happens. I have to close and reconnect a new session. Idk if it's the same for other session types, I only use one SFTP connection, but that one rather consistently on a daily basis, and the behavior in question showed up only after 3.25.0. |

#11207 | "Never" check for updates automatically | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I'm unable as a user to disable the auto-update check: I select this menu item: Edit - Settings Then I select the page: "Updates" In the pull-down menu "Check for FileZilla updates automatically", I select: "Never". Guess what?! A few days later, when I open FileZilla, it shows a window telling me that it is busy downloading a new version. What!? It also shows: "New version available". No, that is not what I expected. |

#11208 | Mac OS FileZilla client crashes when change directory | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Running the client on macOS Sierra 10.12.3 (16D32) found the problem in FileZilla Client 3.25.0 using FTP protocol, english version Everything seems to work fine until I change to a specific directory on the server. ("db") Then filezilla crashes. I tried deleting my configuration files in ~/.filezilla this did not help out of desperation searching other tickets, I tried a recent nightly build mentioned in another ticket. same problem, but hopefully a more useful dump

#11209 | "Never" check for updates automatically | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
This occured in version 3.23.0.2 but when I wrote that in the "Component version", the bug report was being rejected because it is not the latest version. Duh, I can only report this type of bug in an older version. If I would download the latest version now, and wait for this problem to happen again, then it would be rejected again, that loops forever. So I lied when filling in the "Component version", sorry. |

#11211 | Connection through a FTP proxy is not possible anymore | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Hi, since v. 3.25 (in 3.25.1 the behaviour is the same) it is not possible anymore to connect to FTP Servers through a FTP proxy. When you try it, FileZilla shows the messages "421 InterScan VirusWall FTP address missing '@'" and "Could not connect to server". A downgrade to 3.24.1 solves the problem immediately. Best regards, BW_Acc |

#11215 | Add date and timestamp to message log | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
It would be a lot more useful if the message log entries were time and date stamped. I had an error occur, but I have little idea which entries in the message log relate to this, well of course the last ones, but how far up? e.g. if I have been trying to get something copied but it's silently failing, how do I know if the message log entries even have entries relating to my issue? Also if an issue has been occurring for about 5 minutes, then I know roughly which errors in the message log relate to this. p.s. Thanks for your continued efforts, in the best FTP app for OSX! :-) |

I've been noticing this for years and I hoped it would be fixed at some point, but unfortunately it hasn't been. Links are shown as directories, which is more than just confusing. When I use a commandline sftp client the files are shown as files/links. The information is available, thus Filezilla should be able to show them as links and not as directories. |

#11232 | "LAN-only" mode, please | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Server | rejected
Description |
I'd like a one-click option to configure FileZilla to only serve files to my LAN, please. I think this would greatly simplify setup and probably avoid many of the issues I end up messing around with every time I put FileZilla on a new machine. At a minimum, I'd really like a way to disable this warning, please: "You appear to be behind a NAT router. Please configure the passive mode settings and forward a range of ports in your router." I've found that FTP is generally the most pain-free way to move things around between different devices without being a networking expert. |

#11237 | Incorrect filename parsing | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | wontfix
Description |
There seems to be a issue if a filename starts with a space character (or multiple spaces). The FTP client will trim out all spaces from a filename and display the rest of its string (this can also be a issue with a space as the last character) I've discovered this after some users reported that they can't delete there own files (They have full read/write access) and the message was that "550 The system cannot find the file specified.". So I've start investigating the issue and with multiple FTP clients: WinSCP, FileZilla, Total Commander, etc... All with the exact problem. The file can't be renamed/deleted/open/etc. The server is a "Microsoft FTP Service - Windows 2008 R2" which seems to accept filenames starting with one or multiple space characters :( Command: DELE A D R E S A Document1.doc Response: 550 The system cannot find the file specified. Command: RNFR A D R E S A Document1.doc Response: 550 The system cannot find the file specified. I know, is one of the weirdest names I've seen so far.... So, to solve this I've used old school FTP command line ftp> o my.ftp.server Connected to my.ftp.server. 220-Microsoft FTP Service [...] 230 User logged in. ftp> cd file/path 250 CWD command successful. ftp> dir 200 PORT command successful. 125 Data connection already open; Transfer starting. 02-27-17 07:54AM 544768 A D R E S A Document1.doc 02-27-17 08:45AM 753624 A D R E S A Document2.doc 226 Transfer complete. ftp: 119 bytes received in 0,00Seconds 59,50Kbytes/sec. ftp> delete "A D R E S A Document1.doc" 550 The system cannot find the file specified. ftp> mdelete * 200 Type set to I. mdelete A D R E S A Document1.doc? yes 250 DELE command successful. mdelete A D R E S A Document2.doc? no ftp> delete " A D R E S A Document2.doc" 250 DELE command successful. So, by using a buggy FTP server witch accepts unusual filenames (starting with space characters) combined with weird people writing those names the result is no more access to those files anymore. Please redesign the filename parsing for "LIST" command, so it will accept those anomalies. |

#11241 | Add option to move files and dirs only if key is pressed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client | duplicate
Description |
It's very easy to move files and dirs and destroy a site as there is no undo that I am aware of. It would help if there was a preference to only move files and dirs if a key was held down (for example, Command in Mac OS and Control in Windows). IMV, it should be default and if user tries to move, show a preferences dialogue box in which user can uncheck and move files and dirs without pressing a key. #11248 | "File exists" preferences (resume, overwrite, etc.) are lost on Filezilla update | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Hi, when I download a file from a server and the file already exists on the client the "file exists" dialog pops up. I check "resume" and I also check "do this everytime / for all queues" (I use the german version so the naming might be a bit different in english). This works fine for all future file transfers until I update the Filezilla client. After the update my choice of "global resuming" is lost. Is it working as designed or is it a bug? |

#11249 | Server unexpectedly closed network connection | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I'm able to send files to and retrieve files from an IBM (now Toshiba) 4690 OS server quite successfully. But now and then, the server (or intermediate network hardware?) goes into a state where it will only allow some data to be retrieved from the server before the connection is closed. FileZilla tries over and over again but it doesn't get very far before it logs that the connection is closed. When this happens, I'm able to use SecureNetTerm to retrieve the same file from the same server with no problem! And if I then try to use FileZilla ... it still has problems. I wonder what SecureNetTerm is doing differently from FileZilla? |

#11254 | OS crash on Mac using any recent FileZilla build | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
For > 1 year, loading a directory list causes a crash in Mac OS. Installed multiple OS updates, multiple FileZilla updates, etc. Crash generally happens on directory listing but sometimes takes opening a few directories before the crash happens. I would also note that NO OTHER APP causes anything like this and I am a software developer so please do not blame the OS -- just workaround any OS issue if there is one. Very, very easy to repro. Let me know if you need more info but I think the Mac version, Mac OS version, and FileZilla version are included here. #11258 | Cannot connect using FTP with AT&T Hotspot | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I can connect to my FTP site with no problem whenever I am using a Verizon Hotspot (MiFi7730L) using FileZilla, however, when I tried to use an AT&T Hotspot (Unite Explorer AC815S) the connection always times out at 20 seconds and I am unable to connect. Can you advise as to why this happens and is there a solution to this problem? It is annoying to have to switch my hotspot settings every time I have to use FileZilla. Please advise. Thank you. The compilation command is missing A workaround is specifying the necessary flag manually: LDFLAGS="-lcppunit" ./configure Note that cppunit 1.14 is libreoffice's fork. #11297 | 3.26.2 on Debian 8 crashes | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Been fighting writing this up.. But now with the latest 3.26.2 package still having filezilla crash. My Debian 8 was just updated to the latest code as of 6/12/17.. So if i attempt to see if there is any new updates.. filezilla will crash. I have 10 objects under "site manager" if i attempt to switch from one of these to another one it will crash. Now I have had to update my passwords on each of these objects. So not sure if that bug is coming into play.. There have also been time were just attempting to bring up filezilla that it would crash.. This i noticed several segment faults being seen. I gathered some data.. See if it is usable.. thanks Brent |
