You are updating automaticly, so I think these data are correct. Bug: 1. using a transfer of .gif or .jpg, Filezilla is sometimes forgotten it should be binary, so it transfers as a ascii file, result no image displaying. Nevertheless : these are not registered as ascii . 2. I use very often csv files ( comma seperated values = textfile ), can be dot csv , can be dot tsv or something else. Both are registered as transfer like ascii. Nevertheless : the software wants to transfer binary. Would be very nice, to solve this problem. |

#5684 | Don't use external IP's for local connections | closed | Feature request | high | FileZilla Server
Description |
I think that here you should implement a way to manually enter which IP addresses should be considered as local connections. I have hosts from outside that are behind NAT and I am behind NAT too, so i will need to manually enter which IP's should be consider as local which should be consider as outside in order the passive mode to be correct for the external host and for the internal hosts. I have internal hosts that have IP's like 172.11 and etc that FileZilla interprets as external!???

#5692 | File/folder permissions in v0.9.37 odd behavior | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Server
Description |
Environment: Windows Server 2008 Standard FileZilla Server v0.9.37beta Creating user accounts with the following structure: Parent (Home) folder with Read File rights and List Directories & Subs Child Folder 1 (Files from client) w/ R/W/D File rights & List Dir/Subs Child Folder 2 (Files to client) w/ R File rights only and List Dir/Subs In this configuration, a 550 error is generated on child folder 1 when the client tries to upload or delete a file However, if the Parent folder has the Write and Delete attributes set, the client can write and delete files.. but in BOTH child folders, not just child folder 1. Which tells me that there is a permissions issue in the server daemon. Based on a simple file permission model, I should be able to set the parent directory to allow only reads and directory listings, and then set my child folder permissions to the task they hold (i.e. writes only allowed in the folder I chose based on the granted permissions). Note - all file paths are short, do not include spaces or special characters and are being accessed directly (not via a network share) if that helps... I can't seem to find anything in the general server configuration that would cause this to break.. or.. is this working as according to design? |

#6492 | Deleting a symbolic link removes the linked directory content instead of deleting itself | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
When attempting to delete a symbolic link on a linux server, filezilla 3.3.5.1 deletes the content of the directory pointed by the symbolic link links to and does not delete the symbolic link itself. Tbhis is totally unexpected : FileZilla acts the opposite of the rm command. The expected behaviour is to have the rm command equivalent : When deleting a symbolic link, it should just delete the symbolic link. |

#6505 | Unrecognized characters after uploading file | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, I've been using FileZilla for years now but lately I have to move to another FTP Client due to some issues I'm having. FileZilla version: 3.3.5.1. Processor: AMD Phenom 8450 Triple-Core Processor 2.10 GHz RAM: 2GB System:Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bits. I am a freelancer, web developer, basically using Flash, PHP and MySql. Daily, I need to upload/download files from my Server or my Clients. After testing my applications in my local environment I upload it to my Server for a remote testing and allowing my Clients check work evolution and suggest corrections, changes, etc. Since last week I started to have issues after uploading files to my Server: a) although all files were uploaded properly, with no error messages and all of them being in its proper folder, application refused to work as it was working in my local environment. b) I observed that some files were having different size in my disk than in my Server. Since I have moved recently to a new WebHosting (Linux) I thought this could be due to a different method Linux had to calculate the space on disk, I don't know. c) some files, although displaying the same size in my disk than in my Server what lead to think it had been properly uploaded, when testing they refused to be loaded. This was easily detected with Flash movies (most of them forms) and graphics, simple graphics like backgrounds or headers (.png and .jpg). All of them small to middle file sizes (2KB - 200KB). FileZilla showed the files were in their proper folder, Server's FileManager application also showed that the file was in its proper location, Browser's "Source View" feature showed that the file/s were been called at the right places but the file/s didn't show up in the browser. d) Tracking the application step by step (logically, not with a debugger because the app was not able to start the debugger, the application didn't start at all!) I could detect that some text files were having weird content merged with the actual content (attached you will find one of the files snapshot). I really cannot say about other files content (like Flash or graphic files) since I'm not able to read their contents as one can do with a text file. But those text files, definitely had a different content than its corresponding in my local environment. e) trying to upload those files once and again (using auto, ASCII or binary) did not show any change: always the same weird content merged with the actual content (black diamonds with a question mark inside). I talked to my Server's support staff (InMotion) and they could not explain me what could this be due to. And I can't remember where these guys or IXWebHosting support guys (my former Server) that suggested this could be due to a FileZilla misfunction. I refused to accept their suggestion but, just in case, I downloaded another free FTP Client (Core FTP Lite) and the same files and directories were uploaded once again with successful results: no file was missing, no size was different and all files content (texts, graphics, flash, databases, etc) were exactly the same than in my local environment. I have been searching in previous reports of similar issues and couldn't find any similar to mine; then, I cannot understand what weird configuration should I have that may be causing this deformation. Since I love FileZilla, I feel very confident with it and very familiar with all its features after using it for so many years, I feel very extrange using any other FTP Client and would like to return to use FileZilla as I used to in the past. I would appreciate any suggestion/s you could give me and if you need further explanation, questions or whatever, please, do not hesitate to let me know. Best regards, Lautaro. |

When I change or rename any files in my PC with my HTML editor and save them back on my PC, the files on the left panel in Filezilla remains unchanged as they were before - with old filename and not ordered by date of change untill I refresh the panel. I need to reopen my directory in filezilla or refresh to see the changed files. Is it possible to sort the files automatically when they are changed? For example Total Commander works with automatic refresh - when I change any file, the file is automatically changed on opened list too. |

#7227 | Directory and filename parsing issues with OSX machine bound to Active Directory | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have a PC running Windows and an Intel iMac running Leopard (10.5.8) which is bound to Active Directory for user authentication. SSH was enabled via the "Sharing" Preference Pane (aka Remote Login). When I use FileZilla to SFTP into the Mac, it incorrectly parses the folder and file names. Specifically, the "Group" name seems to be throwing it off. I've attached an example of what I see in the File and Folder panes in FileZilla. If I attempt to double-click on, say, the Desktop folder to open it I get: Error: "Directory /Users/hunters/advanced administrators 1054 Mar 1 14:01 Desktop: no such file or directory". I can provide more information if it helps. Have also verified that the Mac version of Filezilla client also has this bug. |

I have been using FileZilla and PCTools internet security concurrently without problems for 5 months now. The new version of Filezilla appears to modify it's own binaries after EVERY command line sent/received. This means I have to "allow" it 5 times just to make a connection, let alone navigate or upload/download. Filezilla Version 3.4.0 PC Tools Version 2011 8.0.0.608 If the new FileZilla does modify its own binaries, wouldn't there be problems with most firewalls/security software? It seems that data should be stored externally in some sort of database. |

#7346 | incomplete and corrupt file transfer | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Filezilla version: 3.4.0 Compiled an executable on linux using:
when I upload the file to an embedded linux system, t is not complete and some of the bytes that is transfered, is not the same as the original ones. original: size = 93117 bytes remote: size = 92867 bytes But if I change the name of the file to t.run, then the transfer is ok! Used ghex to compare original and remote version. It is the same at file start but after a while they differ, so its not just a truncated file transmission. Attached files: 1) original file: t.original 2) remote file: t.remote Kind regards, Mattias Aronsson P.S. Your ftp client is really nice looking! D.S. |

#7357 | Request client-side ASCII conversion for SFTP | closed | Feature request | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
I understand this is a "as designed" in the sense that the protocol does not directly handle it, but other clients can do this (converting CR/LF to LF for unix is not rocket science), so I am posting it as a bug. I love FileZilla except for this lack of an important "feature". It might be nice to at least warn the user the first time an ascii file is transferred over ssh to a unix system because several of us have spent a lot of time trying to get it to work until we finally found a forum entry that said this was as designed. I understand this, but again other clients have found a way to deal with it. I am forced to abandon FileZilla for the moment. Even a disclaimer on the transfer type config page would help. This has been incredibly frustrating and even caused us issues during deployments since this causes a silent failure. |

#7376 | 425 Can't open data connection | closed | Other | high | FileZilla Server
Description |
I am Touseef from HP trying to replicate customer's issue. Customer uses external ftp site hosted on Filezilla Server 0.9.34 beta. They use our scanner to send to ftp but it fails saying "unable to write file at this location, please use someother location". It works fine from Windows and other scanners sending to same location. I have been able to replicate the problem sending to the customer's ftp site. I captured network trace on both working and non working device. The difference i found was the non working device uses EPRT command to open connection for transfering data and the ftp server responds saying "425 Can't open data connection" where as the working one uses PORT command and it works fine there. I downloaded the same ftp server application and tried replicating, but was able to send fine from the non working device. Now i am wondering what setting on the ftp server can we configure to make ftp server accept connections on EPRT command. Your advice will be really helpful. I have attached screenshots of the network trace for your reference. |

#7377 | Nervewrecking error popups when forcing win proprietary encoding | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
I'm using filezilla 3.5.0 to connect to an ftp server which is also used as a ms windows remote drive, thus file encoding must be the one used by the windows "remote mount" dialog (where it cannot be configured). Since the machine is used by German locale clients, the right encoding is "Cp850", and up- and downloading using this configuration works with files containing e.g. umlauts. Filezilla however displays nerve-wrecking error pop-ups "cannot convert from the charset Cp850", which is simply wrong. |

#7436 | Failed recursive directory upload | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
case: filezilla 3.5, ssh connection, uploading whole directory It seems that filezilla improperly handles the response to the SSH_FXP_REALPATH command. According to the ssh drafts the server can reply with the the SSH_FXP_STATUS upon failure (Specified file path is invalid. reason=2; File not found reason=2) and from then on it is client responsibility to act upon those responses. Server side responses: Sending SSH_FXP_STATUS: : /00149642: Specified file path is invalid. reason=2 Sending SSH_FXP_STATUS: : File not found reason=2 Usually when a directory does not exist on the remote server, the client will receive such error message and then should issue the make directory. Attached is the filezilla log in debug mode. |

#7457 | Failed to retrieve directory listing, therfore FZ fails to upload files | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Our FTP server (Globalscape) has a no list files permission, so clients uploading cannot view or list the files on the server (security reasons). This has been working fine with previous version of FZ (3.1, 3.2), however in the latest version of FZ 3.5, this no longer works. Other FTP clients work fine also. As it used to work fine on previous versions of FZ, and now on new v3.5 no longer works, then I would categories it as a bug. Our problem is that we recommend our users to use FZ, as it's very simple robust, but were now getting clients reporting problems as they upgrade. Problem occurs on both the Windows and mac clients. Description |
Filezilla 3.5.1 cannot connect to sftp servers with either key based or password based methods. Logs with debuging/verbose=3 attached. I have verified that this is not a function of my system by repeating on an independent box with the same results. As well, I am pretty sure that nothing is wrong with the server because I used "sftp -P 34451 facade@mars" from a shell and connect just fine. As well, using gftp, I am able to connect. The Host OS is Archlinux x86_64 which is up-to-date (Arch is a rolling release). |

#7744 | At 16,385 files, Filezilla goes into an infinite loop | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have done 3 times. I am using FileZilla 3.5.1 on my PC, MS-Windows, Ver 5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_....:Service Pack 3) I want to transfer 62,424 files, with names like PHO_0xxxxxxx-5_1003457.HL7;1 to an USB drive (E:) on my PC. I am connected to a VAX OpenVMS V8.2. To gather the names (LIST in FTP) takes about an hour. I then do a CTRL-A on the names in the "remote directory" screen, and put it into the "Home" screen. I am also watching My "Task Master" Perforamce tab, to watch the CPU Usage screen. After about 45 minutes, CPU Usage becomes 100% usage and no more files are being copied. I "stop" Filezilla and check the number of files on my USB "Memery stick" and all 3 times the same number files, 16,385. 16,385 = 214 + 1. These files are anywhere 1KB big to 120KB big. And they are 100% text files, or HL7 files. If possible, let me know. Thanks |

#7759 | User Experience Problem - move right click's Reset & Requeue up one | new | Feature request | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, I'm always scared that I'll completely remove a failed file transfer because of a problem with the user interface. Basically, when a file fails, it goes into the failed tab - as you know! You then right click it and there are a list of options. The first option is 'Remove', the second option is 'Reset/Requeue'. Great. Now, it goes to the Queued files area. You right click again - but 'Process Queue' is in the first position - on the other tab, 'Remove' is in the first position. It would be nice if 'remove' was the SECOND right click option on the 'Failed Transfer' tab, as it would create a better User Experience and make it easier to requeue and restart the failed file. I hope this makes sense! I can include screenshots if not. I've ranked this as high as new users may expect these options to be in the first position, and may accidentally remove failed files (and it's almost impossible to tell which were removed if there are a lot). Thanks!! :) Great software. |

In WinSCP there is a switch "Misinterprets file stamps prior to 1970". This is set to Auto in my case. Would this be possible to implement in FileZilla? |

#7821 | Make kiosk mode available in the preference window and set it by default to 1 | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
So it's about the storage of unencrypted password ... I know a lot of ticket has been posted about this, but there is a reason for that. I perfectly understand your reason to do that and I understand it's "by design". I know you can fix that problem with the kiosk mode option in the filezilla.xml file. I just think that : 1) This option should be available directly in the preference window of the client gui. It's not an "advanced" setting, it's a critical setting so you shouldn't hide it in some xml file. A lot of people want to change that behaviour of storing the password, and so go to the preference window ... and find nothing. Adding that cost you nothing, even in term of "design" or "philosophy". 2) When first using this software you don't know your password is gonna be logged in clear text, nothing tell it to you. In the whole software industry nobody do that, even Micro$oft with Int€rn€t €xplor€r ask before storing a password. User should be aware of that. So there is 2 solutions : you ask the user the first time at the first use or you put the default value of kiosk mode to 1 (so you still log an history of servers but without the password). To conclude, I can understand that by design you want to make your users life easy, but I can't understand that you want to store ssh (sftp) password in plaintext without him knowing about it. I'm just asking you to make users more aware of that choice, to help them make enlightened choices. |
