Description
When I double-click (or choose "open") on a ".doc" file in Windows explorer, it opens in MS Word.
In Filezilla, if I choose "open" or "edit" on the same (local) file it opens Wordpad.
Wordpad it the second application in my "open with..." menu.
The same happens with other extentions: source code which opens with notepad, etc.
FileZilla should use the default/first application associated with the "open" action.

Filezilla should use the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\.log
This is the explorer behaviour hence the only "system" behaviour we want.
I don't know which key Filezilla is currently usingnor how to change it in windows, so it is definitely the wrong key.

[EDIT]
Filezilla should use the key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\FileExts\[FILE EXTENSION]

Windows XP is no longer supported.
Huge number of changes since ticket was created, please reopen ticket if issue still in latest version of FileZilla using a recent version of Windows.
Thank you.
I have version 3.5.1. The bug is still there.
This happens with most file associations.
I have checked "inherit system association", but Filezilla does NOT use the default system association (for the "open" verb). It uses some old (original) association.
I have Filezilla on several XP machines and the bug happens on all of them.
