#3491 AVI doesn't display on the list Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Hi,

Sometimes, users cant see movies they upload in the display list whatever FTP Servers. In fact, only AVI files aren't displayed. Take an avi file, upload it, it will be in FTP but you won't see it with FileZilla. You need to use another FTP Client. More precisly, it's the file extension .AVI which isn't listed (MIME type isn't checked). Upload any files, rename it with the extension .avi, refresh, oh it disappeared !

Here is a video that shows the bug http://dl.free.fr/cIBQzTU0I/FileZilla_cant_see_AVI.avi

the attached file contains a "refresh" log with debug lvl 4. AVI files are on the server but filezilla doesn't display them.

#3493 Downloads a much bigger file than exists Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version 3.0.9.2 Windows XP SP2

Connected to a buddies FTP server to download a couple of .rar files. One file was 85MB and the other was 76MB. Everything looked fine until the file reached the expected size. At that point, the time remaining stayed at 0 and the file continued to download. It kept downloading and around the point where it was approximately 150MB, I copied the file to another folder to attempt to open it. I opened it, and the contents looked fine. It continued to download until it was 156MB and then produced the following error: The data is invalid. Error: Critical error

Same exact thing with the second file (except that one went until 145MB).

I extracted the file one more time after the download completed and again, the contents seemed fine, just the file itself was about twice as big as it was supposed to be.

#3495 Can't download some files Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I am having trouble downloading certain files from my webhost. I think this has something to do with the filename itself. The filename has 1 space, a colon (:), and underscores.

example file name: "2008-05-01 13:52:14NO_GAME_FOUND.txt"

I am running FileZilla 3.0.9.2 on Windows XP SP2

I have tried an older version of FileZilla (2.2.19a) running on Win 2000 Server SP4 and downloading the exact same file works.

I'm attaching the log file...

#3498 Doesn't see accented chars Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

3.0.9.2 - Ubuntu

This file is not seen on the server:

"prensa/Ramírez%20afirma%20que%20la%20autopista%20Ronda-San%20Pedro%20la%20propuso%20el%20PP.htm"

Whereas this one is:

"prensa/El%20PP%20promete%20rebajar%20la%20fiscalidad%20a%20los%20discapacitados.htm"

The full path is:

http://ppfuentedepiedra.com/prensa/Ram%C3%ADrez%20afirma%20que%20la%20autopista%20Ronda-San%20Pedro%20la%20propuso%20el%20PP.htm

Firefox loads it up fine (that's where the above url came from), so I guess Filezilla doesn't see filenames with accents.

#3499 BIG site: Slow listing, great CPU usage Bug report normal Other
Description

Hi,

I use Filezilla 3.0.9.2, Windows XP SP2, 1Gb RAM, to connect and download a full website, with user-generated content. This website has about 15,000 directories, with more than 20,000 files. About 7Gb everything.

When Filezilla gets 4,000-5,000 files it starts to slow down overall performance, and also CPU usage is going up to a continuous 50%.

It does not crash. It only makes the computer and the download very slow.

#3500 Active Mode Failiures Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The GUI shows the active mode been set with the correct external IP address but still teh server replies with the internal ip address (LAN IP) of the client and says cannot establish connection. On checking through a Packet Sniffer it can be seen that filezilla is actually sending the LAN IP altough in the console/log/gui it shows its sending the external IP.

Issue with 3.0.9.2 and also with 3.0.9.3 - nightly build

#3503 Display issues on win server using \ rather than / Bug report normal Other
Description

FileZilla used to display fine when I connected to this server. I haven't connected in several months, and now the display tree for the server isn't displaying correctly. FileZilla no longer seems to treat a back slash as a directory separator for display purposes. Actual functionality still seems to work correctly, so it is only a display issue. See the attached screenshot, as it shows the situation much better than words can describe. FYI, I am using FileZilla Client 3.0.9.3

#3504 mac ver issues Alexander Schuch Bug report normal Other
Description

installed new ver on a mac.

i originally downloaded the ppc ver, cause i own both, on the mac mini intel, it crashed a lot. so i downloaded the intel ver. turns out was a different problem, more details below. but switching may have caused issue 1.

(1) main problem that is going to force me to find a different client to use. can not save settings anymore.

it comes up with the settings that i had put in it before, but i try to save them is says cant find the file. at one point i had moved the program also. was going to run it from a usb drive/device.

is unclear to me witch part started the issue, due to can not get it working again to test.

i am able to save sites, in the site manager. is the preferances that wont save.

(2) crashing, appears is a permissions issue confected to an EX machine where the files are local network.

drag and drop to ftp window crashes most times. when drag to a sub dir on the server. if i open the dir and click it, it works.

and crashes every time if their is a file usage permissions issue. seems to only happen when i use winzip to zip the files.

#3505 Invalid Port Number Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

If you type a textual address into the host box in either the quick connect or the manager, the program fails with the message:

Could not parse server address: Invalid port given. The port has to be a value from 1 to 65535

This same message occurs regardless of what port number is used.

There is no reason, that i am aware of, why the textual host value should not work (it works in all browsers and other ftp clients). If text is not supported, it should mention that and ignore the port number, (which was correct) until a numerical value for the host is entered.

#3509 CPU usage, refreshing when deleting Bug report normal Other
Description

using most recent ver of FZ, on intel mac 10.5+

i was deleting several thousand log files in one dir.

the cpu usage on my machine was so high i had a hard time shutting it down so i could remote in to do it.

#3513 "Find as you type" can't handle underscores Bug report normal Other
Description

In the Local and Remote site file lists, there are support for "Find as you type", as in e.g. Windows XP. While this works fine for a-z, it doesn't work for underscores (_).

Reproducible: always

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a folder in the Local site pane that contains at least one file with a name that begins with an underscore (_) and at least another file that doesn't begin with an underscore.
  1. Select any file except the one that begins with an underscore.
  1. Type _ on your keyboard.

Actual results: Windows XP's "Default Beep" sounds, nothing else.

Expected results: the file that is named "_*" is selected.

#3514 Dragging Files to Remote File Window Causes Crash Bug report normal Other
Description

On Mac OSX 10.5.2 with version 3.0.10 of FileZilla when I connect to any FTP site and then click on a file in the Local site window and drag it to the Remote site window, before my mouse gets to the remote site window FileZilla freezes and a second later it crashes and I get the standard OSX crash dialog box. This happens every time.

Interestingly, the reverse operation does not cause a crash. If I drag a file from the remote site window to the local site window Filezilla does not crash and the file is downloaded as expected.

I had the same issue in 3.0.9.x on OSX

I love filezilla and have been a fan for years! I use it all the time on Windows XP and it never crashes there, but on OSX it does crash all the time.

#3515 Installer: Remember desktop shortcut choice Bug report normal Other
Description

Hi,

really small annoyance. This behaviour is present since version 3.0 beta until 3.0.10. At the end of the installation the installer asks me where it should put the shortcuts. And each time the desktop shortcut is unselected and I have to enable it manually. Can't you make it so, that the installer remembers that I had the desktop icon enabled with the old version of Filezilla?

#3518 File uploads Bug report normal Other
Description

When I upload either a single large file or a large number of smaller files, the program a minute or two into the upload indicates that the server disconnected. The upload continues to completion even though the upper status window is saying that the server isn't connected.

Note: there is a moinor difference between uploading a single large file and a large number of smaller files:

With a single large file, The upper status window and the right-side server windows both indicate that the server has disconnected.

With a large number of smaller files, only the right-side server windows indicate that the server has disconnected. The upper status window continues to converse with the server as the files are transferred and the bottom windows continue to indicate the decrease in the number of queued files and the increase in the number of files transferred.

This is very disconcerting especially for a new user of the program. When the program is telling you that you have been disconnected a lot of users may try to reconnect (I didn't try that because I could see that the file transfer(s)appeared to be continuing. I chose a wait and see attitude about it and it appears that even though the program was saying it had disconnected, it completed the file transfer(s).

At the conclusion of the file transfer, I was able to reconnect without any issues.

#3519 Strange thing happen Bug report normal Other
Description

Hi there,

I've been using Filezilla Client for Windows for a long time, and since I've installed Vista 64bits on my computer, there's a strange thing that happen.

Indeed, each time I launch Filezilla, my HDD stops and restarts...

I've tested it several times before sending you his bug report.

My HDD is a 200GB SATA (Maxtor).

Maybe it's Vista's fault, but I noticed it only with Filezilla...

#3524 .xml file problem Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I use a media player that uses an .xml file for the playlist. I tried uploading three instances of the player to some webspace last evening. None of the three would work. I have another instance of the player on the space that I had uploaded probably with a 2.xx version of FileZilla. I finally traced the problem down to the playlist which is an .xml file. When I was reasonably certain that the problem was with the .xml file I got FireFTP and uploaded my playlists with that program. The players all work with playlists uploaded with FireFTP. I have two computers and I tried with both computers. To check I uploaded the files using FileZilla 3.0.10. All the players broke again. Reuploading the files with FireFTP fixed the players again.

My Computers both run Windows XP Home OS. They are Core 2 Duo computers with 2GB of ram. I had version 3.0.5 running when I first encountered the problem. I checked for updates and updated to 3.0.10. I have attached one of the .xml files. I did not download one of the broken ones to compare.

#3525 Renaming the distant file crashes Filezilla Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I did it again.

Actually, I was wrong saying that renaming the remote file did freeze the computer. It only crashed Filezilla, but everything got very slow for 2 or 3 minutes. I did set the debug on verbose, but couldn't get any indication, and after the crash of Filezilla, nothing seems to remain.

This time, I did upload a file, then right-clicked to rename : it crashed.

After that, I disconnected / reconnected my computer to the distant server, then only tried to rename the file that was on it (right-click). It crashed Filezilla all the same.

When you first said that the "issue had been fixed", was it about that ? (before "ooops, wrong button" ?)

If yes, do you have an idea about the time I'll have to wait for the next version (roughly, one week, one month, more ?).

Thanks for your time reading me and answering my question.

Oops, clicked wrong button. If your whole system freezes, there's an underlying problem with your system, it's definitely not a bug in FileZilla.

#3537 Status show disconnect but transfer continues Bug report normal Other
Description

I'm using 3.0.11 on Vista Home Premium. This a new install of this version and I've uploaded the same file twice with similar results. After some period of time uploading, the log shows disconnected but the transfer shows to be continuing in the queue. The first time I noticed this, I reconnected and selected "resume" when I started the upload again. The result was a corrupted file. The size showing on the upload is correct but playback (it's a video file) stops long before the end.

On the second upload attempt, the same disconnect happened and the queue still showed progress.

I had no trouble with earlier versions, so I'll be reverting to one of those until this is fixed.

#3543 F5 Refresh window Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Windows XP, FileZilla 3.0.11

FileZilla does not refresh the changes in a directory by itself and neither with F5 on local drive and FTP. You have to go outside the directory and then go back to see the changes.

I mean when you ad or delete a file outside FZ the directory in FZ stay the same.

F5 was working before, I think.

#3544 Upgrade of FileZilla deleted sitemanager data Bug report normal Other
Description

To put this angry bug report in context, let me first of all, thank you gentlemen for making free software for me!

Opening filezilla today I was asked to upgrade to the newest filezilla. I am not sure it gave me the possibility of choosing not to upgrade, but probably it did. It should please do so more prominently.

Nevertheless, I would maybe have chosen to upgrade even if I could choose not to. Upgrading caused the following disadvantages to me that together add up to so much inconvenience that I would greatly have preferred not to upgrade.

  1. I had to reboot to uninstall the old filezilla.
  1. After reinstalling, all my hosts in my list (notably including their passwords) have been deleted. I am sure I can find most of them again, but it will be really cumbersome.
  1. to add insult to injury, the new filezilla starts out by throwing a message box in my face asking me to report bugs! Yes, now I damn well will. That message made me feel like you feel at liberty to test your buggy upgrades on me! You could have asked me whether I felt like taking a risk!

I do not know what improvements are in the newest filezilla, but I was quite happy with the old version I have, so I venture to guess that I would have been happier without your latest "improvements" to filezilla.

Yours sincerely, Tommy Olesen

#3548 "Target file already exist" error Bug report normal Other
Description

Queued a whole bunch of files, basically to backup the entire site to harddisk.

Several occasions, I got the "Target file already exist" error as in the screenshot included.

I'm downloading /httpdocs/cn/divisions/seals/arrow/01arrow.htm

to c:\random.com\httpdocs\cn\divisions\seals\arrow\01arrow.htm

And I get a pop-up that target file exists... but it's displays: Source file: /httpdocs/cn/divisions/seals/arrow01arrow.htm

There's a "/" missing in the Source file.

But when I choose the Overwrite action. The correct file is downloaded onto the harddisk.

This prompt shouldn't be popping up in the first place anyway, since this is a download to a fresh directory. There shouldn't be an existing file in the target location.

#3549 Cannot connect to server Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

After I got notified of the 3.0.11 update and installed it, I tried connecting to my server on the same segment of LAN, but couldn't get any connection at all with FileZilla. I can get through fine by pinging and PuTTY, I can even get FTP files from it with Firefox (but it's so awkward!), but with FZ, a tcpdump on the other host doesn't show a single packet getting to it. Now, I don't know my MS Windows administration as well as the *nix, but the built-in XP firewall claims to be completely off, and I'm pretty sure there's nothing else of the sort on here. I certainly haven't deliberately installed such a thing lately, and I haven't seen any popups asking to allow network access lately.

This is on a MS Windows XP Media Center box, with SP2 but I'm holding off on SP3 yet.

I am not sure if this is a bug of the new version of Filezilla or it's just on my server that has a problem. This situation only occured after I updated my version of Filezilla.

#3567 On z/OS - unable to switch from HFS to MVS file listing Bug report normal Other
Description

If z/OS server is set to default to HFS (Unix) the client is unable to switch to normal MVS file system. It appears that there is a mistake with the FileZilla directory information. If a user is in HFS the CWD prefixes with a "/". To go to native MVS file system the client should drop the "/" prefix. Here's some info from the log;

Command: CWD /'tsospw3.' Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() Response: 550 CWD cmd failed : EDC5129I No such file or directory. (errno2=0x05190050)

What I entered in the "Remote site:" box was;

'tsospw3.'

If I "Enter custom command" here's the log;

Command: cwd 'tsospw3.' Trace: CFtpControlSocket::OnReceive() Response: 250 "TSOSPW3." is the working directory name prefix.

However, even though I can do the custom command the GUI interface stuff still insists on using the "/" prefix. It seems that if a user enters something in the "Remote site:" box that is a single quoted (') string the Filezilla client should NOT attempt to prefix the string with the front slash (/).

#3568 SVN directories filter should include _svn Bug report normal Other
Description

Developers unfortunate enough to use Visual Studio 2003 can't use .svn directories, so there's a hack built into SVN/TortoiseSVN to use _svn directories instead. The "CVS and SVN directories" filter in the default filters collection should include _svn directories as well. This should probably only apply to Windows installations, though I can imagine situations where these files make there way onto non-windows systems before uploading.

Here's the modified filter, taken from C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client\resources\defaultfilters.xml in FZ 3.0.11: ---

#3570 Speed limit settings should be connection specific Bug report normal Other
Description

The speed limits are a good option to get sure that the bandwith of a remote connection is not consumed completely by an FTP download or upload.

The settings are now Filezilla global but additionally they should be also connection specific.

Why? I have the following problem: I am sitting in a centre that is connected to several stations. Some of them are connected over satellite links, others are connected with high speed internet. In case I want to download files over a satellite link I have to ensure that the common productional traffic is not constricted by the FTP download. Therefore I have to use the speed limit. But this speed limit is not useful when downloading over a high speed internet link. Reconfiguring the speed limits before each download is very error-prone. Therefore the speed limit setting should be connection specific.

#3576 Failed upload - local file remains locked Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

O/S: Windows XP SP2 (English) Filezilla: 3.0.11 (English)

An attempted upload fails becuase I do not have write permissions on the server for the file in question [expected].

FileZilla retains a lock on the file in the local filesystem [unexpected].

Filezilla restart is required to release the file (even a successful upload after fixing file permissions does not release the earlier lock).

Full log below.

PS in case it's relevant: I was asked to respond to a "target file already exists" dialog box three consecutive times as part of this single upload attempt.

#3582 shortuts don't work Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

I just updated to version 3.0.11.1, which caused the following problem: In the local site "Filename" window, I'm no longer able to click on shortcuts. The shortcuts appear as .lnk files which cannot be opened.

This was not a problem in the previous versions of FileZilla.

Please fix because the program is basically unusable now because of this.

Thanks!

#3583 Issues opening local ASP files Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

In version 3.0.11.1 running on Windows XP Pro SP 3:

When I right-click on an ASP file and choose Open, I get an "Opening failed" dialog saying that there's no associated program assigned on my system. The .asp extension is associated with Notepad++ on my computer; double-clicking ASP files in Windows Explorer opens them in Notepad++. Thanks.

#3584 Issues opening local Access databases Bug report normal Other
Description

In version 3.0.11.1 running on Windows XP Pro SP 3:

When I right-click on an Access database (.MDB) in my local site list and choose Open, the open process is initiated twice -- I get two Access windows. I also get a Filezilla Error dialog with the following message: "DDE execute request failed: a request for a synchronous execute transaction has timed out." The latter is probably due to me not responding to the Security Warning dialog in Access quickly enough. Thanks.

#3586 times out Bug report normal Other
Description

I have been sending a 4Gb file and experienced a disconnected from the server 3 times.

#3587 "Dropping" a file on an area next to a folder Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version 3.0.11.1, Win XP

When uploading a file, I drag it from the local folder into the upload folder. If I drop it in a space in the same row as a subfolder in the remote site window, the file goes into that subfolder.

I believe it should go in the current folder as putting it in the subfolder has undesirable consequences - uploading to a folder with lots of subfolders and maybe one file becomes tricky, and its easy to upload files to random subfolders without realising.

#3588 "ask for action" setting doesn't behave as expected Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version 3.0.11.1 , Win XP, Fresh install.

After install, I was asked for confirmation for all uploads. Once I was uploading a bunch of files, so after one confirmation, I've clicked the "always do this" action.

Now it does this for all uploads - transfers without confirmation - even though I've selected in the Transfer settings "Ask for action" for both uploads and downloads.

#3589 folder chain not cached when server disconnects Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version 3.0.11.1, Win XP

When I navigate to a subfolder of a remote site, and then do something else for long enough for the server to time out, I have to reconnect and navigate through the whole folder tree again.

I would expect to be able to continue navigation from the last folder I selected when resuming a session from a server non activity timeout

#3590 agent environment variable is wrong Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

The environment variable used to locate an SSH agent should be SSH_AUTH_SOCK (with underscores) rather than SSHAUTHSOCK, in order to comply with what the rest of the world has already been using for the past several years.

#3591 subfolder LIST fails Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

After upgrading to 3.0.11.1 subfolder LIST fails 90% of the time.

#3592 initial directory passed by URL is interpreted wrong Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

URLs with the syntax "ftp://user:pasw@host/dir1/" will connect to the FTP but then try to CHDIR to "/dir1" instead only CHDIR to "dir1". This is a difference compared to IE or FireFox since it will overwrite the servers user initial user directory setting. The directory "/dir1" does not exists on the server but "/home/user/dir1" in my case.

#3593 Crash if getting disconnected during OnMenuEdit handler Bug report normal FileZilla Client
