FileZilla client uses the default SSH agent, which is really useful. However, when the SFTP server in question only allows password authentication, the prior key authentications by the SSH agent used by FileZilla will prevent a connection (and no password is prompted).

As a workaround I have to temporarily shut the SSH agent down when using FileZilla with password-only SFTP servers.

A solution to this issue could be the introduction of a password-only auth option field or a toggle for using the SSH agent for a server.

How can I reactivate Filezilla Pro?

I have a few downloads where the orig filesize is 11 gb. The download window says 100% and the filesize is about 6GB higher than the original.... :( And it keeps on going and going..... What gives with that?

When you create a new Site in Site Manager you have to insert "host" value filling in address and port text fields.

In many cases can happends that for more than one Site the same host is used (usually because more than one website is hosted on a single server) and, in some unfortunate circumstances, the IP address of the server change; when this occour I need to update all Site Manager Sites to reflect the new IP.

It will be great if I had a "Host List Manager", where I can create a Host with it's Label, IP, port, access type and so on, and then use this "Host Object" in the Site Settings as an alternative to directly input IP and port.

So, when the Host IP would change, I just need to update the "Host Object" to make all relate Sites use new IP or new Authentication certificate ecc, ecc..

Since this is something really useful for Agencies and Professionals, maybe could be more appetible for Pro version, but litteraly, I would pay for it!

I have an FTP server with HostGator provider (CENTOS 7.9 Linux) and I only used their tool to access it. After an update it managed to connect, but it mistranslated the filenames. Now it connects and lists folders and files that I renamed to solve the translation issue. But now I can't download, just through Windows Explorer (windows 10 Pro x64). Not to mention that it was much slower to access via FileZilla and it was super fast. Now I can only transfer (upload and download) these files via Windows Explorer, for new ones I can use FileZilla.

Often I having problem with window position. Please add a feature to prevent saving minus X and Y position of FZ Window. This will allow to resume FileZilla without editing xml file to start it - with normal position. Its happen on multiple screens (monitors), I can figure out how - but this trick should help.

When I log in to FileZilla like I have before, it shows that it is attempting to connect, then shows the following Response: fzSftp started protocol_version=11 Command: open "0060100@…"22 Error: Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity Error: Could not connect to server Status: Waiting to retry...

And then it starts all over again. I contacted our I.T. department who checked to see if it was a problem on our end, but it's still not working.

1/ I have generated on Linux a key pair with ssh-keygen and a path-phrase. 2/ on windows 10 , I copied my private key 'id_rsa' and try to use it with FileZilla : he wants to convert it to .ppk (by the way why ???) , I say yes and ask my secret : I have only the path phrase : I type it and I get the error message on my french PC :

Time in log files is in GMT, not local. For example, there is a log entry "2021-09-18T10:53:00.059Z << [FTP Session 140..." In my case, local time would be 2021-09-18T13:53:00.059 +0300

I suggest an option to use GMT or local time in server's Logging settings

When user refresh Directory or change files name in Working Directory (Local site), It redirect to root Directory. So users always need to select working directory from Local site history Dropdown.

I don't know whether this is a bug in server or client, I just reported it for the server.

On logging into the shared Onedrive through Filezilla Pro, Filezilla does allow the login, but crashes back to the desktop on attempting to access the shared folders. When I select "log to file" then I see that the file is empty. Sometimes when I stop the server then suddenly the file is filled with all the log information. But not always.

So this feature does not work as expected.

According to this wiki page ​https://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Command-line_arguments_(Server) there are several CLI arguments. It seems as if this page is outdated as almost non of the parameters work:

Have just upgraded from 0.9.6 to version 1.0.1 and have found that systems can no longer authenticate. Traced the issue to the fact that usernames in the new version are case sensitive but not in 0.9.6

When I copy a modified file to a server, a pop-up windows opens which tells the file is already there on the server with a choice of overwrite options. Hovever, the checkboxes for always performing said action don't work at all: the next time the pop-up window reopens with uncĥecked always perform option.

My micro-server (Fritz!Box) lacks some security features such as TLS session resumption. Each time I connect I have to allow this connection again. The bug is that the option checkbox "Always allow…" works only during the current session. The next time I start FileZilla, the pop-up windows appears again with unchecked option.

So, this is a weird one, haha. I often use filezilla to update set & forget based websites by simply grabbing the file i need to edit and re-upload back again. In this case i used a extreme long folder / path (local) to store files on. Consider it as a chaotic way of working but it works for me. I encounter a issue where the use of a long local path leads to a Auth faillure while the login details are correct.

• I can login by FTP and view it's content

• I cant grab a file for download because it will end up with a Auth faillure

When i change the local path from

I think this is a bug because filezilla either cant create the folder or cant write to the folder or the directory is just too deep. It's one of m. I think you could reproduce it by replacing your desktop to "JG\gamxo-main\gamxo-placeholder\admin\somedomain.com\private_html\anotherdomain.nl\private_html\!\!\" and then try to swipe a file from a FTP folder to above folder.

If the local folder (no matter it's located in HDD or external USB drive) selected contains more than 10,000 files (in my case 14,600 JPEGs, with average file size <1MB), I quitted the FileZilla client and re-opens again, it takes at least 5 minutes to see the interface (not even started to connect to any server). My iMac was idle at that moment (no other software using significant resources).

Can the startup performance be improved?

With New FileZilla Server 1.0.1 want to setting " \ \IP\shareFolderName\path" to Native path, but return Error Message "Path must be absolute".

I shotdown the server, and modify "users.xml" in AppData, then restart server, the SMB path is work correctly.

Can fix the warning message and SMB path is ok in interface?

We cannot connect to our product via 43 port using the "Quick Connect" in the Filezilla with correct credentials.

Trying to update FileZilla from 3.46.3 to 3.56 on MacOS 10.15.7. Downloaded installer FileZilla_3.56.0_macosx-x86.app.tar.bz2. Unpacked it using WinZip, in Downloads folder. Double-clicking on the FileZilla.app icon gets this message: The application “FileZilla.app” can’t be opened. Version 3.46.3 works fine. Following error message appears when attempting TLS login:

A packet with illegal or unsupported version was received.

TLS login worked fine until the most recent update to 3.56.0.

Filezilla client version 3.56.0 64 bit for windows 10 I attempted to download a directory structure into a samba share on a linux machine running Ubuntu 20:04. I got many failures - can't open a file for writing. Investigation showed that the file's immediate parent directory did not exist. In think what is happening is that the directory create is not written to the disk immediately and the following transfer of files in that directory therefore fails. A bit of the log follows.

I created a server definition for a subdomain prior to the latest release of FileZilla. It works perfectly.

I just created a new server definition of another subdomain after the latest release. The remote folder is not displaying.

If I use the SPECIAL FTP access AND specify the REMOTE folder, then I can see the remote folder, but only then.

Note: I have the same problem with any new definitions I create, whether subdomain or not.

r10380 (user impersonation), breaks compatibility with OpenBSD. OpenBSD does not support shadow(3) and crypt(3) causing building to fail.

As a workaround introduce FZ_OPENBSD, which is similar in behavior as FZ_MAC.

#12554 fixes building of libfilezilla on OpenBSD. It does this by introducing FZ_OPENBSD, mimicking behavior of e.g. FZ_MAC.

Enclosed patch adds support for FZ_OPENBSD to filezilla client.

All SSH connections to different accounts hosted at Strato in Germany get refused suddenly on my Mac.

Solution: Had to replace Servername 'ssh.strato.de' with the ip-adress (which I found out by pinging ssh.strato.de). You should fix this problem, because the soliotion isn't obvious and not documented at Strato or elsewhere!

BtW: Connections to servers NOT hosted at Strato were not affected within the same client on the same Mac.

Connection to host works fine with FileZilla_3.52.2_win64. On installation of 3.56.0 connection fails with "GnuTLS error -8: A packet with illegal or unsupported version was received."

Reinstalling 3.52.2 restores ability to connect.

Please add 64x64 icon.

Dragging a folder onto the target server adds thousands of ".." onto the queue. This never resolves and the program must be closed. I have downgraded to 3.55.1 which is working fine.

Same problems occur on my colleague's machine (also Windows 10, but completely different hardware).

Filezilla shows the logged in user as owner of all files and directories instead of real owner

After updating to version 3.56.1 today, every time I transfer a file, FileZilla shuts down after the transfer is complete.

Since I uploaded the new version - 3.56.1 - uploading files works normally but at the end of the upload, the screen greys out and a window appears saying Filezilla has crashed and Windows will shut it down. This happens every time I upload files.

The nsis_appid sub project. What license is that released under?

In FileZilla Server 1.1.0 the behavior changed if a client sends an RETR for a nonexistant file.

this is a big problem, because our clients (not our software) make RETR until a service on that server created this file. with the new responses the clients send a quit after they get the 425

Workaround: Drop files from Windows Explorer into remote server folder on the right.

I have been running FileZilla for many years with any major issues, but when I upgraded from 3.56.1 to 3.56.2 FileZilla Become unusable in my circumstances. I attempted to find and reinstall 3.56.1 so FileZilla would be viable to me again, but after a long search it seems like it no longer exists on the world wide web in binary install format. The directory listing window will not display folders nor files, except one just downloaded in the only the root folder of the selected drive. Can not even navigate drive C. Issue was first noticed on other drive letters, namely, drive B an internal SSD, and drive E an USB 3.0 SSD. Please provide access to 3.56.1 so that I can use FileZilla. Please correct the issue in next release so I can stay on most recent. Please provide a way to disable auto-updates so I can operate quickly until issues is corrected. Thank you.

I have an old NAS (Netgear Stora - 2010) which required flash to run, but I accessed it via the sftp and started to transfer the files, to my QNAP NAS, about 105,000 files I recall. The logs were all working, about 4,500 files did not transfer because of permission restrictions I think. I watched the queue progress OK. I think it finished but then just stopped. I could not close the app. I was able to alt-tab to other software and close that, but I could not use the PC (Windows 10). I had to power cycle the PC. Everything seems OK now. I would like to have seen the log files saved then I would know if it really completed. Also an option to continue if the queue was interrupted. The line for Minimum TLS Version is clearly in error -- surely this should be "1.2" not "2". Worse, when I make that change and run FileZilla, the number reverts to "2".

I get a message saying that it the file I wanted to drag to the server already exist. When I click cancel - I get a message saying the file transfer was successfully completed - which it is. So, it might be that the algorithm is trying to copy the same file twice?

Download an already existing file, when asked whether to overwrite or not answer with "Yes": the date and time of creation of the overwritten file will be of the previous file.

When downloading text file with UTF 16 LE, Should using binary transfer type. Otherwise the downloaded file will become unreadable. If the transfer type is set on "Auto", FileZilla will use ASCII mode to download the text file. For some green hands. they will consider it the file in the FTP server is bad. When trying to connect to the server, I receive the following error:

"Critical error: Could not connect to server"

I'm not sure whether this bug is reporting directory listing failures on client-local or server directories, but I'm seeing a very abbreviated server directory listing for one of my server directories.

I can see them all fine by logging in to the server via Putty, and I can't see any variation in the permissions that would prevent the listing.

Curiously, of the directory and files that are listed, only one of them actually exists on the server, all the ones from the synchronized client listing (which is accurate) also appear in the server listing (those include the one listed that actually exists on the server), and then there are two listed in the server listing that do not exist on either side.

This seems like a quite serious bug, disabling FileZilla when the bug is triggered. I have no idea what triggers it, not all directory listings seem as incomplete as this one I was trying to access today.

Please will you create a confirmation screen for local deletions. I have hit the delete key by accident on several occasions and deleted the very files that I wanted to upload! The "Always trust this certificate in future sessions" and "Trust this certificate on the listed alternative hostnames" checkboxes are greyed out and cannot be clicked.

Dialog pops up again next time the site is opened.

Altough the certificate is valid and officially issued, FileZilla shows a warning that the certificate is unknown.

We have shared some file/folder via Filezilla to our clients but some of them are getting permission issue. Can we get assistance for same.

I am unable to log in to Filezilla, it shows message Not connected to any server.

Keep getting an error that says "Lost connection with this server. Error:ECONNABORTED - Connection Aborted (106)" This is happening whenever I try to connect my server.

We have a contact using a 'slow' system that sends us small EDI files and after our upgrade to 1.1.0 started to received errors at the end of the session.

We suspect that during the session termination protocol Filezilla closes the socket quickly - creating a socket termination error on their side because they are still processing the 'Goodbye.' acknowledgement

Would you please consider adding a timeout value in MS (up to say, 5000 or more) in the configuration to allow for the client to process and disconnect from their side prior to the session destroy? Everything still works, but it generates a non-critical error for each session Thanks

I am running filezilla at Debian Bookworm (testing). On startup I use the option "Restart tabs and reconnect". Filezilla then shows the files of the local and remote (sub)directories, that were active at the previous exit of filezilla. This is a nice feature because often more than once files from the same subdirectory are changed.

Unfortunately at the reconnect the option "synchronized browsing" is not activated, although this option is set for the site. This option only seems to be automatically activated, if the site is manually connected using the site-manager at the default local and remote root-directory, but you almost never want to be at this directory.

This problem exists at filezilla-3.52.2, filezilla-3.53.1 and filezilla-3.57.0.

The "synchronized browsing"-option is a very important option, because it avoids, that files are transported to the wrong directory.

If you forget to set the option and change directory without noticing this, the website will not work anymore.

So it is not only annoying to set the option each time at a reconnect, it also causes an unneeded risk of a not working website.

A weak property of this solution is that at a reconnect "synchronized browsing" also is set if the local and remote path are not in sync, because at the previous session "synchronized browsing" was disabled by the user. But this is general behavior of filezilla, which never checks, that the directories really are in sync, when the user sets the option.

I send a simple, validated patch for filezilla-3.57.0 (8 lines) which always sets the option at a "Restart tabs and reconnect" or by reconnect-button, if this option is specified for the site.

The patch-logic is also validated at filezilla-3.52.2, which was the current filezilla-release at Debian Bullseye.

I think this patch causes a more logical and user-friendly implementation of the "synchronized browsing" option for the site, avoiding unnecessary mistakes with downloads.

It seems as though updating from 1.0.1 to 1.1.0 has given me this bug

If I make a user, make a group for that user, then mount a drive as /group it will receive this error

The only way it works is if something in the group is mounted as "/"

Workaround seems to be to mount an empty folder as "/" then I can mount each folder

Is there something wrong with the way I'm doing things or is this a bug?

We have shared some folder using FileZilla server to our client , so that they can have access to the folder. However, the client is getting an error(Screenshot attached). Using latest filezilla version.

Using FileZilla to upload photos to Envato Market Place we find that files don't show up in the Envato webpage although it seems that there is no problem in filezilla. We've successfully transferred files for months with no problem and when we downloaded the newest version of FileZilla the problem started. When we finish the connection with filezilla (everything looking normal just like when everything worked fine) and connect again with the server, the files we tried to upload the last time (but failed to show up in the Envato webpage) are still in Filezilla which is not usual when files are uploaded successfully. We've tried many things and nothing seems to work. Thank you for your help in advance.

I have an app on all my Android devices: "FX File Explorer". Basically, it allows me to browse a remote device via an SFTP connection *or* my local files in a viewing pane similar to a Windows File Explorer window.

The biggest advantage is that I can stream any media file just by tapping on it. The explorer invokes the local device's media player, and streams the file, versus downloading and opening it.

My request is to add this functionality to FileZilla, where double clicking on a media file would invoke your local media player, and stream the media to your machine, with downloading switched to a right-click function.

It would be really nice if, on reopening a connexion, Filezilla would remember that I had toggled Synchronized Browing and go directly to the last local and distant folders opened.

Add a function that would enable speed limits on a schedule.

Example: From 8am to 5pm upload speed limit enabled. That way a long backup wouldn't interrupt other users as much during the workday, but would allow full speed at night.

Hi, I am experimenting an issue when connecting to the FTP server owned by a vendor of my company. The server is a Microsoft FTP and I am connecting from a MacBook Pro M1 through a VPN.

My connection is configured as:

• Require explicit FTP over TLS
• Logon by password (normal)
• Server type autodetect
• Transfer passive
• Transfer type binary (I have experimented with ASCII too)

Am I missing some configuration in Filezilla?

Using SFTP to a Rocky Linux 8 OS, manually setting the numeric value of a directory to 2755 does not set the sticky group bit:

2755: drwxr-xr-x.

2775: drwxrwxr-x.

2777: drwxrwxrwx.

6755 does set the SUID bit: drwsr-xr-x.

chmod 2755 over SSH also sets the sticky bit.

Error occurs when trying to perform a file transfer from Rebex C# emdedded client using FTP over TLS protocol. Command prior to the error is "MLSD." After error message is "550 Couldn't open the file or directory. No logs were created by Filezilla to post. Embedded client error when trying to transfer the file was "15:52:59.656 Error Info: Rebex.Net.FtpException: Couldn't open the file or directory (550)." Both a virtual and Native path were entered in the Users section - that do exist with full control to the user logging into via the FTP client.

using filezilla to download directories from a openVMS system. The OpenVMS system has a directory named "CON". filezilla creates a directory in windows called "CON" when I ftp the directory but it causes issue since this is an invalid directory name. Explorer wouldn't do anything when I tried to delete the 'CON' directory, cmd.exe gave an 'access is denied' when I would try to remove the directory. Checking security and trying to do anything on the folder that was created would just result in various errors about access denied, unexpected error, undetermined error etc. Researching I found that there certain keywords that are not allowed to be used as directory names and "CON" is one of those. I was able to eventually remove the directory but I had to search around to find a specific rd command to do this as the other options (rd, rmdir, explorer) wouldn't remove the directory.

Everything is perfect on PC. Moving to a MacBook with an M1 processor. Exported settings etc. on PC and then imported those settings on the MacBook. FTP connects as it should but the uploads "stutter". A few files will upload and then the upload stops and the server disconnects because of no data transfer. FZ reconnects and the process repeats. Uploads that used to take 15-20 seconds now take 5 or more minutes. Apple care found no issues on the MacBook. The router setup has not changed from the PC. The Debug report is attached.

FileZilla client 3.57.0 Windows 7 x64 Russian with all updates No antivirus Playstation 3 Slim [CFW] 4.88.2 EVILNAT COBRA 8.30 with FTP Server(passive mode).

When uploading files via FileZilla client to Playstation via local network(Wifi), there are dropped connections. When you select the resumption function, start's new uploading but not resumption. The file size does not affect the situation. There is no such problem in the FlashFXP(5.4.0 build 3970) client. Everything is dresumption normaly.

Server upload permission used to be read [Y/N] and write [Y/N]. On my server you can login anonymously and download files from the virtual "/" which is physically "c:/downloads". this directory is Read:Y write:N. I have another virtual directory "/upload" which physically links to "c:/uploads" but it has the following permission "read:n write:Y". You cannot view this directory nor can you download but you can upload files.

It is important that the upload and download capabilities lie in separate directories so that random people cannot use my server as a file storage location.

in filezilla server 1.2 the directory permissions are R or R+W. W-only no longer exists.

Please add Write-only as an additional option in the next version.

I use FileZilla on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

It used to be the case that, when FileZilla finished uploading or downloading a bunch of files, if FileZilla was not the currently focus application, it would emit a baloon notification on the bottom right of the screen just above the tray icons, system clock, etc. I'm not sure what those notifications are called.

Now it has stopped doing that, and I haven't touched any configuration.

When using curlftpfs or gio (gnome library to access ftp) to connect to a FileZilla Server running on Windows they fail to list the contents of any directory because they use the 'LIST -a' command which is not accepted by the server. Is it possible to just ignore the non-standard '-a' flag and the command to behave just like regular 'LIST' ?

Wen I press the 'Refresh the file and folder lists' button for a connection where I have configured a 'default local directory', the file browser for the local side changes to display that folder. I usually do not want that, but just to reload the remote side and stay in the same directory locally.

I encounter sevral problems to configure the server via the administration GUI, the keyboard navigation could be difficult and the screenreader NVDA version 2021.3.1 doesn't work with all components of the GUI.

The biggest problem is the datagrids, for example the configuration for users dirrectories access but all components of this type are problematic. When I use the "tab" key to focus this type of elements it's not possible to move in it with keys or to quit it with "tab" (I must use a shortcut). So it's not possible to select an item in the array and to configure it correctly, this is a big regression cause with the old GUI these problems wasn't present. Also, the datagrids are not announced correctly by the screenreader if I try to modify something in it, I must exit the settings and reload them to have a small access.

Also, when I add a new user or with the list elements of this type, the focus is blocked in the list with the possibility to up or down the selected item but I haven't access to the other options and, if I navigate without adding a nex element, I can't move up or down the selected element. I don't know if this happen also when I modify or copy the selected element but it's also a big problem.

An other problem, the dialog box creation for a SSL certificat has a strange behaviour with the tabindex so it's realy difficult to use it only with the keyboard.

I've also see something that I haven't understand, in the user configuration in the "General" tab, my screenreader indicate me a combobox just after the password field (always using "Tab" key to navigate) but I can't interract with it.

In conclusion the old interface was realy better for the accessibility and keyboard navigation, using a contextual menu in lists was far better than this new interface, etc..., this new interface is probably more modern than the old one but very less usable for visualy impaired people or for those who don't use the mouse. I hope this can be fixed, I realy apreciate Filezilla Server but for now the only solution that I have found is to install an old version (under 1.0.0), configure it and reinstall a new version but if I want to change something it could be realy difficult.

The new impersonation code does not build on (Net)BSD. crypt.h and shadow.h are Linux-specific. I'll attach a patch to show what is needed to make this compile on NetBSD, but of course proper support would be preferred.
