#8371 | Remote Path Handling Feature Request | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, I download a pair of files each day. The name changes based on the date. So I use the search feature/binoculars. Every day, I have to change the remote path handling to 'Flatten remote paths, download all contained files directly into target directory.' because that is my preference. I would like to make that the default. I don't want to have to choose that option each time I go to download files out of the search results. -Mike FileZilla Client Version: 3.6.0.1 Build information:

I'd like the option to hide local files/folders from the Filezilla Client. It's important for me to always show hidden files in Windows, as I need to see .htaccess .htpasswd and other such files when I'm developing. However, other files/folders should be hidden, such as:
So, I'd really like the option to hide these from my interface so they're not accidentally uploaded. It would allow me to select all and upload, rather than selectively going through each directory. I don't want |

#8377 | Whole internet onnection breaks down when uploading | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Everytime I am uploading something (joomla in this case) after a certain time (around 1-2 minutes) the whole Internet connection brakes down -> Router is blinking; Windows says that there is a problem with the DNS Server etc. So, then it'll take some time again (up to 10-60(!) minutes, even with a router reset) until the internet connection is working again. In fact, I copied the corresponding files from my USB stick onto my system hard disc (Desktop) [regarding: http://forum.wdlxtv.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=2796] and set an upload limit to 300 KiB/s ... Didn't change anything. |

#8380 | Massive Memory and CPU utilization with large dataset Uploads | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla 3.6.0.2 Windows Server 2008 R2 running under VMware Workstation 8 Two Intel CPUs 2 GB memory Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit physical machine. 8 Intel CPUs 16 GB memory I have been trying to use FileZilla to test an FTP server implementation and how it scales using millions of files. My data set contains 10 million 1 KB files in a fairly deep directory structure. What I have found is that after a few minutes, FileZilla becomes non-responsive. A check of the memory sees it climbing very high. Some test runs, I'm able to get it to crash when the memory gets to ~2 GB consumed, probably because its a 32-bit process. Other times, the CPU just spikes to 100% and the process just looks like its hung when looking at the logs on the server side. This is pretty simple to reproduce on the two machines listed above. I personally think it has something to do with the queueing mechanism and how much memory is consumed per item. The queue can grow quite faster than files can transfer leading to rather large lists on the queued side. |

#8383 | Filezilla client Feature request - retain open sessions upon restart | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I always have about 6 connections in my filezilla client for the projects I'm working on. Each time my MS updates force a system reboot overnight, I have to try and remember what connections I had open and re-open them. Of course I just realized that I can store a local default directory for each connection, so that is a great help...but is it possible to store open connection tabs upon shutdown so they are ready when I re-open filezilla? Even if they just re-open on the screen without making an active connection, that would be huge. Thanks for reading and keep up the great work. Filezilla is the best. thanks, Andy |

#8398 | UNC path error | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla Client 3.6.0.2 is unable to normally download a file from ftp, if resulting path name exceeds MAX_PATH limit. Which is already reported, see related bugs: 6193,4791 ,4792,6193.
Though, I've just tried to manually input an UNC path to "Local site" field. Like " And now I was able to download needed files. Although files were downloaded OK, there were multiple error messages: "Directory ':\temp' couldn't be created (error 3: the system cannot find the path specified). If I close this message - new one won't pop up immediately, though, after some time - it would, for sure. Here's 45sec screenvideo I've captured. Also, please find filezilla.log attached (sorry,in fact, it is not the one related to the video, it was a separate run.) At the end of the log, I've canceled transferring, though, once again - this error message does not affects transferring, it just continues. |

#8400 | Lacking Service Controls over Command Line | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
"FileZilla Server.exe" /active is not supported. there are almost no controls over command line (except /start and /stop), almost everything must be done through GUI, and this makes automatic control impossible as we all know, FileZilla do have an auto-start option. but things here is, the FileZilla Service can be auto-started, it's not "Active"! i.e. the Service process is running, but it won't automatically listen on port 21 (or whatever port in settings) thus, you have to click "Active" on FileZilla Server Interface every-time after reboot further more, I can't find a command line or option to "Active" server automatically this really makes remote-management suffer! how can we "click" Active within a .bat script? and connect to service from localhost (127.0.0.1) still needs authentication, makes it more difficult to develop a TCP plugin to send controls to the service (not everyone is an expert and have the patience to read all the source code just for an auto-Active feature, isn't it?) my suggestion is to add more command line support, at least: "FileZilla Server.exe" /active should be supported to Active server automatically within a .bat script |

#8401 | Client crash when open non-English local folder/directory using "Open" in the right-click pop-up context menu | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client

Client version: 3.6.0.2 Character set for non-Unicode programs: Traditional Chinese - Taiwan (950) Crash happens when try to open a local folder with non-English path in Windows Explorer, using the "Open" function in the right-click pop-up context menu. Crash happens both in the file pane and the directory pane. Specifically, crash happens when opening the folder path that contains non-English and not-within-the-default-language characters. For example, when opening the folder path contains Simplified Chinese or Japanese characters, the client crashes. But when opening the folder path contains Traditional Chinese characters, the client does not crash, but still does not open the folder in Windows Explorer. I tried this bug on two different computers, and both has this problem. Both machines are using Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64. |

#8406 | When a new directory created, focus the new directory in listviews | new | Patch | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When a new directory created, filezilla refreshes the corresponding local or remote listview and leaves the focus where it was before. I think it should set the focus to the newly created directory since the user most likely will want to go in that directory. The attached patch implements this behaviour for both the local and the remote listviews, also it adds the [ctrl]+[shift]+[n] keyboard shortcut for the "New Directory" menu item (does the same thing in windows explorer or nautilus and Thunar on linux). The remote side implemented extending the facilities added in r4868 with setters and a new conditional. Maybe these functions/member variables need a new name. Since i'm not 100% sure on the remote side's implementation, i'm attaching a patch only for the local side and the keyboard shortcuts. Sidenote: On my system, i couldn't compile a clean r4872, compile failed with: src/interface/listctrlex.cpp:1179 col 36: error: passing ‘const wxListCtrlEx’ as ‘this’ argument of ‘wxScrolledWindow* wxListCtrlEx::GetMainWindow()’ discards qualifiers [-fpermissive]
This can be fixed easily enough with a - wxRect windowRect = GetMainWindow()->GetClientRect(); + wxRect windowRect = const_cast<wxListCtrlEx*>(this)->GetMainWindow()->GetClientRect() |

#8408 | Freeing the "transfert done" list from 100'000+ files takes 5 minutes | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I sucessfully transfered more than 100'000 files from an archive to local. The log pannel of sucessful transfers contains the 100'000 names of files. I select all the log by ctrl-a and press the del key. It takes about 5 minutes to clear the list - a huge time. Observation: at the beginning of the freeing, memory is released by 5ko/interval (monitoring the processes), than by 24 ko/interval and finally at 200ko/interval. I bet that the algorithm used fro freeing the list and memory is not optimal. The same "long time" was observed at least 3 times and is always present. When the list is "short", the time is short - a few seconds or so. Is a much faster ? |

#8416 | DOUBLE CLICK FUNCTION | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Double clicking in Filezilla Double clicking on a file is universally used to 1 open a file if the file’s associated program is open Example: .html file opens into Firefox 2 open a file’s associated program if not open, then the file into that program. Example: As above but first opens FF
In my experience the use of double click in FZ is highly unusual, confusing and detrimental. Double clicking to upload or download a file means those used to double clicking for the above will result in an unintended down or upload. If the settings are set to not ask if you want to replace, then you have just wiped out a file. In addition if you did not know this was the function of double click you may not notice that the down or upload has taken place as there is nothing to indicate the event. So files could be lost without the user even knowing. FZ has drag and drop AND right click menu to up or download files so the double click is surely not needed. Double click in the local folder could open the default editor or default browser ans in the remote folder open in appropriate viewer/prog or "no effect." Please consider changing this function. Many thanks, Ralph Graham |

I start a file transfer from remote FTP site to local machine, and during the transfer "Toggles processing of the transfer queue" is enabled and "pushed down", and "Cancels the current operation" button is disabled (see attached screenshot). And when I press "Toggles processing..." button, the transfer is actually cancelled. What I actually expect is "Cancels..." button is enabled and cancels the current/last active transfer. |

#8442 | Resume creating larger file than the original file | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have several files sized 734,003,200 bytes (split of a larger file.) If the download is interrupted (by my network changing on my laptop), and the download "resumed", every time the resulting file is larger than the original file. I don't recall the exact size of the resulting file, but it is around 1-10MB more. When the status shows [ > 100% ] and the file is larger than expected, I decide to stop. This happened about 7 times with none being resumed successfully. FileZilla Client Version: 3.6.0.2 Build information:

#8459 | Client over SFTP, reports upload errors. Some spurious. | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Using client 6.6.02, Win 7 Pro client machine. target machine is Red Hat Enterprise server. SFTP. Filezilla reports errors when it needs to create a directory. it then creates the dir OK, and then reports errors on a file upload to the new dir. Then uploads file OK later. The errors appear to be spurious but continally demand cross-checking that files did actually upload. These errors are consistent and completely repeatable. They are not random upload errors as might normally occur. Log excerpt below. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. All the best folks. |

Although the folder TEST2 is successfully moved to TEST1 using this approach, the TEST2 folder's icon will still remain where it was. Resulting in seemingly 2 TEST2 folders. (please reference the submitted image). When this happens, slicking 'Refresh' will not help as long as the original TEST2 folder icon is highlighted. |

Description |
Right now, it's nice that you can put FTP URLs in the quickconnect bar, but the functionality isn't quite usable. For example, if you copy ftp://190.144.167.33/planificacion/VAD&Hepp/Metodo-participativo-VAD.pdf from your browser and you want to download it in filezilla. When you paste it in the quick connect "host" field, you get the following error: Connecting to 190.144.167.33:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220-Microsoft FTP Service Status: Connected Status: Retrieving directory listing... Command: CWD /planificacion/VAD&Hepp/Metodo-participativo-VAD.pdf Response: 550 /planificacion/VAD&Hepp/Metodo-participativo-VAD.pdf: The directory name is invalid. Command: PWD Response: 257 "/" is current directory. Ideally, it would CDW TO /planificacion/VAD&Hepp/ then start a download of Metodo-participativo-VAD.pdf |

#8473 | File corruption when transfering file to QNX Neutrino Host | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, I've found a reproducible issue regarding corruption when transferring files. How to reproduce: 1) Install FileZilla 3.6.0.2 client on Mac or Windows 7 - both reproduce this issue. 2) Install QNX Neutrino 6.5.0 SP1 OS in a VM or native on an x86 machine. Easiest way is to download the Virtual Machine posted here: http://www.qnx.com/download/group.html?programid=20905. Once QNX is installed, edit /etc/inetd.conf and uncomment the line of text beginning with "ftp". Then run "inetd" if it is not already running. Also note the IP address. 3) Open FileZilla client and transfer the attached binary file "helloworld" to the FTP server running on the QNX host. 4) Checksum the file (cksum utility) before and after transferring. You'll see that the checksum is different! 5) You can copy the file from QNX back to your machine by tarring the file, e.g. "tar cvf helloworld.tar helloworld" then using FileZilla to transfer the file, or by using any FTP client other than FileZilla to ensure the file doesn't get corrupted a second time. You can then hex dump the files to see the specific differences before and after the corruption. Notes:

#8478 | ftp/s does not support certificate-auth (no password) | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla does not appear to support client-certificate auth (no password) mode. Examples where this does work via cURL include: curl -v -k --ftp-ssl --ftp-pasv --disable-epsv --key userkey.pem --cert usercert.pem ftp://user@server curl -v -k --tlsv1 --ssl --ssl-reqd --ftp-alternative-to-user "SITE AUTH" --disable-epsv --ftp-skip-pasv-ip --key userkey.pem --cert usercert.pem ftp://server I can provide output and trace logs if desired, but since the traces show certificate detail, I'd prefer not to do it in public. RFC 2228 specifically states that the server can accept AUTH info as sufficient for login, and provides FTP response codes for doing so, bypassing the PASSWORD prompt. The ability to specify a certificate for a particular connection profile would help here, keeping the connection from trying the wrong certificate (this would also help SFTP connections avoide the error noted in bug report 8476 (http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/8476) |

#8488 | Incomplete File Transfers to Server | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
With recent versions of FileZilla, we have been seeing a number of incomplete file transfers. Here are our steps to reproduce: 1) Connect to the FTP server (on Windows CE device). (No encryption, anonymous FTP). 2) Transfer a file of size > 1MB from client to server. 3) Often the file transfer will "complete" after only ~200kB have been transferred. Sometimes a client PC will get stuck in this state, unable to transfer larger files. 4) The file remains on the server with a size of ~200kB. The reason why I suspect FileZilla is the culprit is because other FTP clients (such as Microsoft command line ftp client and Windows Explorer) work OK from the same machines that have trouble with FileZilla. Furthermore, I once took a Wireshark capture during the transfer and it seemed evident that FileZilla was dropping the ball on the communications. This seems to happen with 3.6.0.2 but not with 3.6.0. However, I am not certain of that. Thank you for your assistance. Please let me know if there is more information I could provide that would be helpful in tracking down this bug. Description |
While downloading some folders from my webspace with ftpes (explicit ftp over tls), I tried to rename another local folder in the left area in filezilla, where i can see my local folders. I made a right-click/edit on it, and it turned editable. Then I clicked on it directly after its name (downloads|) because i wanted to rename it to "downloads-old". When i start to type the first letter ("-"), the "edit-mode" disappeared/closed , and so it is impossible to rename this or another local folder. I had to open a filemanager of gnome to rename the folder. This problem exists only When downloads are active. Without any downloads, the renaming works without problem. The 'Download-Mode', where the problem appeared, is: "overwrite if filesize is different or file is more actual". I renamed about 20 of the 48 .JPG files in the 'photos' directory in my PC mirror of my website. Instead of manually renaming them on the website, I created a new '@swap' sub-directory there, and dragged and dropped the files to be renamed to it. Then on the PC I selected all the files in the 'photos' directory and uploaded them to the website's 'photos' directory, responding to whether to skip overwriting the files that were not renamed with 'skip' and 'all'. It all worked fine. Before that upload was quite completed, on both the PC and Website, I changed the window focus to another directory, my 'ph' directory in each window. The I tried to upload its '@…' file, but the file was not added to the queue. I tried changing the directory focuses in other ways and coming back to try again with no effect. I opened a new connection to the website and went to the 'ph' directories and it had no effect. I closed and reopened FileZilla and went to the 'ph' directories and the file uploaded as usual, prompting me to overwrite the old one. The version it occured on was: 3.5.3 then I installed current version: 3.6.0.2 |

Description |
Try to launch FileZilla Client (without "run as admin") and go to Windows\system32 folder on 64bit system (i.e. Windows 7). List your local files and try to identify aclui.dll. Note the size. Launch cmd.exe as admin and try to dir \windows\system32\aclui.dll. Compare sizes of your files. Now try to dir \windows\syswow64\aclui.dll As you can see Filezilla tells that displays data from system32 and in fact displays the content of syswow64. The application should be 64bit aware and use real folders without redirection. Look at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/aa384187(v=vs.85).aspx for additional info. |

#8564 | Option to save current Quickconnect entry to Site Manager | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Title should explain - I hope this hasn't been requested before! - didn't see it... Should have option on Quickconnect to quickly save entry to Site Manager. I suppose it should then open a 'new' entry using host as name with host/uid/password filled in by default. I saw a reverse request?: http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/3007 but no one requesting ability to add *from* Quickconnect menu? (which makes much more sense to me). |

I always miss this little detail. You must take the file and put it into the dir, one change an do it again. I will thank this little button that I would use to upload new version of a file that i'm editing, but i would do twice (up and down) Actually you need to edit a file directly from ftp to do some like this. The idea is make it on local server files. my two cents. thank you. |

#8587 | Race condition in upload: Collisions with previously failed transfers (?) | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I'm experiencing a race condition when uploading. Approx. every 300 files, a file that's being uploaded already exists, and I'm prompted what to do. Typically the file has 0 bytes, sometimes it has <100% size. These files are from previously failed attempts in the same queue - NB that the target directory was empty before. I'd expect FileZilla to retry failed uploads non-interactively. I'm using 8 concurrent transfers, and the remote server is "flaky" in that it likes to terminate connections randomly every once in a while. So here's my hypothesis: 1) Thread A uploads file foo, is kicked off the server before upload completes. This leaves the file in the transfer queue (does it?). 2) Thread B finds foo in the transfer queue, tries to upload, and finds the incomplete file created by thread A in 1). If this is true, the solution might be to do the collision handling cross-threads, i.e. B should know that A just failed to upload foo, and retry non-interactively. I'm happy to set up a test account on this flaky server. The race is pretty easy to trigger by uploading, say, WordPress (maybe 2 or 3 times). Also, and I assume this is related, there are files in the "Failed transfers" list. Shouldn't those be retried? (Should I open a new bug for the latter issue, in case it's not related? Or is it even a bug?) |

Description |
Hi, Here is my problem. When I do Directory Listing of an SFTP Server running ProFTPD 1.3.4b with mod_sftp 0.9.8, I see Filezilla Client 3.5.3 reporting me that there are some directories whose name are including their last writing date : "avril 8 14:48 <directory name>" I checked the same server with Windows client version, Linux Client version : it's the same problem. I checked with WinSCP client under Windows and all is OK. I checked with the last version of proftpd 1.3.4c and the problem still appear with FileZilla Client I want to say that during last month, everything was OK with proftpd 1.3.4b/Mod_sftp 0.9.8 versions. I checked sftp with openssh soft and everything is OK. But, the difference I noticed is that with the same host, running directory listing under mod_sftp returns me a list of files whose date are in french (eg : 'avril' for the 4th month) whereas with openssh, the same directory listing returns me a list of files with a date in english (eg : Apr for the 4th month). Can you confirm me that there is a FilleZilla issue ? |

#8592 | Common Name in SSL/TLS certificates is not checked against the server name connected to | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When connecting to a site using FTPS (SSL/TLS) the common name of the certificate is not checked against the server name. Although a warning is displayed that the certificate is untrusted it is not explicitly stated that the server named mismatches the CN. This could be easily overlooked by unexperienced users. Steps to reproduce: In servermanager: config server A: serverA.domain.com (explicit TLS) Setup an FTP Server serverA.domain.com presenting a certificate with a common name of "someotherserver.domain.com" Connect to server A, a warning is displayed that the certificate is not trusted. The fact that "serverA.domain.com" and "someotherserver.domain.com" do not match is not explicitly stated. As this is a strong indication of malicious activity, the user should be warned about it in an urgent manner. |

#8595 | UTF-16 line endings get corrupted by uploading and downloading | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I uploaded a UTF-16 text file with the following content: FF FE 48 00 65 00 6C 00 6C 00 6F 00 0D 00 0A 00 57 00 6F 00 72 00 6C 00 64 00 Note the correct BOM for UTF-16 little endian and that every second byte in the text is set to zero. After downloading it again the content changes like this: FF FE 48 00 65 00 6C 00 6C 00 6F 00 0D 00 0D 0A 00 57 00 6F 00 72 00 6C 00 64 00 FileZilla transmits the file in text mode and because of that the UTF-16 line ending chars get corrupted to 8 bit ASCII line endings. In this case only 0A 00 got corrupted to 0D 0A 00, because of Windows -> Unix -> Windows. The file is now 1 byte longer (an odd byte count for UTF-16 files is already invalid) and the content is broken. Uploading in binary mode avoids this problem, so I suggest that FileZilla detects UTF-16 using BOM or line endings in 0D 00 0A 00 format and uses binary mode for these files by default to avoid corruption. |

#8596 | Crashes Occasionally | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
We host a filezilla 0.9.41 server on a Windows Server 2003 R2 box. We are aiming for 100% uptime, however the service infrequently crashes. For example so far this year it crashed Jan 19 and April 10. It was up without restarts in between that time. We discover the problem when a user reports they are unable to connect. (Windows service monitoring based alerts were not triggered, interestingly.) The server interface shows unable to connect to server. The event viewer application logs at this point show no problems. Attempt to launch filezilla server.exe and service comes back up. #8607 | Out of memory | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When transferring huge amounts of data (Filezilla Client) I get out of memory errors. I can see in the taskmanager that FZ is using more and more memory. It starts reporting out of memory after slowly climbing from 57.000 kb to 340.000 kb in taskmanager. I am copying around 50 domains with WordPress sites. It does not make any difference to free up memory by killing processes after FZ has started. |

#8611 | Automatically upload on file save. | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
There are so many people requesting this, and, I love FileZilla and have used it for years, but I have to be frank - the devs come off as arrogant saying it is not technically possible or it is gambling with your data. Absolutely, set this option as 'off' by default. If you implement it, make the users go into menus and specifically turn it on only if they know what they are doing. Give a warning about it. But let the users make the choice about whether they want to gamble with their data or not. Don't make the choice for them. When I am doing web dev., the data is always in my text editor. If it were lost in transmission, this would never be a problem, because I always have it saved locally in my editor. For some things - like tweaking small CSS things to get things just right - having this feature would cut my time by 50%. Literally. It is a HUGE feature missing, and the reason I don't use filezilla any more. I agree with your reasoning, of course. But, understanding it is a risky behavior, let the users choose it if they take consciously accept to take that risk. Please, please, please. Alternately, create a tray icon that you can click on to upload a changed document. Save from hunting for the FZ window. That would also help alot, and would be nearly as good. It makes me sad, because I like FileZilla best of all FTP programs, but have stopped using it solely for lack of this one feature. |
