Authentication failure when using Quest Authentication Services on UNIX

Description

We use Quest Authentication Services (QAS) on unix to authenticate users.
Using filezilla 3.0.6.2 (client) on windows 7.
Trying to connect to UNIX HPUX Version 11.31 running Quest Authentican Services for login authentication

Please talk to your system administrator for this issue.

It seems as if FileZilla connects to an FTP server (WU-FTP), which is not the same as an SFTP server. Can you connect to that FTP server using another FTP client, for example the command-line based ftp.exe or Firefox, or any other browser? Do you use any special characters which might not be encoded correctly due to different character encodings (CP-1252 vs. UTF-8, for example).
