#5304 | Images transfer and then on the host are 0 bytes. | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Using most recnt client at this writing (3.3.2.1) I have previously and successfully transferred files to my cox.net host space. Today, whether it was a jpg, png, bmp, gif, or pdf the transfer went without error and in a proportionate amount of time for the file size, but on the host all times but one they appeared as zero bytes and were not usable. One time they filled in with the appropriate host file size, but were found to fail to display, and on refresh were zero bytes after all. I didn't try non-image file types so they may have had the same problem. I tried this multiple times in multiple sessions and after restarts. I also changed from AUTO to Binary, and turned passive on/off with no change in outcome. |

#5305 | Transfering a binary file to the target server will fail after few seconds | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I was trying to transfer a MSI file (TEST.MSI) to my web server. After few seconds or minutes FZ will no longer be able to establish the connectivity to my web server any more. FZ is trying to connect to my web server several times and ran into a time-out. Just viewing on my web server without transfering data to it works fine. I'm using the latest FZ v3.3.2.1 I assumed my web server has a problem, but with pure FTP from command line the file could be transfered successfully. One year ago I had the same problem with FZ and this could be fixed by installing an update as this was available. -Hans |

#5312 | Add a box for showing important msgs | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
A lot of times you get errors from servers, warnings that you really should pay attention to. Mostly failed attempts to upload or change files on the server. Currently this errors are shown in the log when they happend, but the log keeps going and the msg is swept away in the background. I hate to spend 15 minutes on a bug just to found out that the changes I make to the file where not saved because of permissions. Such things should be noticeable in a big red outline on top of my screen, along with any failed attempts to modify files on the server. A new feature that presents a 1 line* box on top of the toolbar could serve as an important notification bar for just those occasions*.

#5314 | drag & drop transfers parent directory instead of selected files | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
drag & drop of multiple files and/or directories from the remote file listing to the local active directory sometimes transfers the complete remote parent directory instead of the selected files. this means that instead of showing the expected "overwrite?"-dialog for existing files in the active local directory, filezilla creates a new subdirectory with the name of the server's parent directory and transfers all of its contents. this is very annoying since it takes 2 or 3 attempts until only the selected files are transferred to the right place and i can use the advantage of comparing file size & date when filezilla asks whether to overwrite or not. additional this means i have to cancel huge queues of files in subdirectories that i did not want to be transferred and delete the already transferred ones from the wrong directory on my harddisk. apparently filezilla does not recognize the active remote directory after navigating through the remote directory structure. sometimes it helps explicitly selecting another directory first and then the desired one in the remote directory tree before selecting the files for drag&drop transfer. this issue seems to happen on about 50% of remote->local drag&drop transfers. it never happened when transferring from local to remote. i noticed this behavior throughout all filezilla-versions in the last year, but never found a bug report. anyone with the same problem? |

#5315 | Alternative SFTP directory listing parsing | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When you name files on the remote server such that their names begin with a space character, FileZilla is no longer able to operate on those files. It always returns the error "no such file or directory" when trying to move, delete or rename the file. Another similar bug (#5292) was rejected because it related to a limitation of using the LIST command and the identification of padding characters. However, I am connecting to my remote server using SSH and FileZilla is using the "ls" command, rather than LIST. Another difference is that, when using LIST, if the file either begins or ends with a space, it becomes unmodifiable, while with ls, files ending with a space can be interacted with normally. Only files that begin with a space become problematic. Using FZ 3.3.2.1 |

With ver 3.2.x, this is not a problem. I downgrade to 3.2.4.1 and it works ok, upgrade to 3.3.2.1 then i get timeouts again. This is why i believe it is a bug. I only upload to 2 servers. Happened before i reformatted and reloaded Windows as well. Log files are attached. |

#5323 | Associating "Public" permission with a windows user or group for CHMOD commands. | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Server
Description |
Hi, As you know, CHMOD command is for Unix like systems. But there is a solution for Windows. And the ftp servers that support custom SITE commands can do CHMOD command. If Filzezilla server supports assigning "public", "group" and "owner" permissions to a windows user or group, we can use chmod commands even if the os is windows. But how? The answer is here: IIS has anonymous users to access the file system. For example, if a php script can access to a folder, it can access via iis_domain.com user which is an anonymous user account in Windows. And IIS run php script with this user. So, if iis_domain.com user doesn't has any write access to a folder, php script can't write to this folder. In unix, the user can use CHMOD to give write permission to public (anonymous) user. So, If there is an option in filezilla server, we can assign a windows user to "public" permission of CHMOD. For example, we can assign iis_domain.com to "public" permission, and if we send, SITE CHMOD xx6 A_Folder filezilla server will execute this: cacls.exe A_Folder /E /G "iis_domain.com":C So CHMOD can be used in windows host. It is very very useful for shared web hosting. Every chmod's public permission command has equivalent in windows permission: xx4 => :R (Read) xx6 => :C or :RW(Change) xx7 => :F (Full) xx2 => :W (Only Write) xx1 => :X (Only Execute) xx5 => :RX etc.. Regards. |

#5325 | Spaces in filenames don't open properly | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
If the filename has a space or spaces midway through the filename, then when you try to open the file from within Filezilla (from the right-click menu) it will open a list of files instead of the single file you wanted to open. For example, if you try to open "Template for prototypes.docx", it will respond by attempting to open "Template", "for" and "prototypes.docx", all of them in OpenOffice, and because OpenOffice can't find any of the three, it will pop up three errors of not being able to find each of those three files. Would it be possible for Filezilla to escape the space characters in a filename or to wrap filenames in quotes? This occurred while running a version of Filezilla (3.2.7.2) obtained through apt-get on Ubuntu 9.10, x86. |

Hi! In FileZille 3.3.2.1 (portable as well as installed version) I encounter a bug if the local and the remote computer have set a summer system time (daylight saving, timezone CEST). This bug is a bit annoying when comparing the files. The files on the server always seem an hour "newer". The bug randomly does not occur (about 30% of my FileZilla runs), but I was unable to find out the pattern. #5347 | Windows 7: network card crashes on multiple connections | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
In the current release 3.3.2.1 on my win7 x64 system I recognized a strange behaviour that causes my wired network card to "crash" which gets only working again after a reboot. Following is happening, I reproduced it as described about 5 times: Downloading a huge amount of files and data from a standard webserver. To increase the overall speed, I usually download several files at a time time, mostly about 4. When 1 *bigger* file is currently downloading (> 40MB) and other *little* ones (> 5KB & < 100KB) are downloaded too, it stucks from *one moment to the other*. The described issue results in a completely freezed network card. No connections can get in or out anymore. From then it is impossible to change the IP address manually (or automatically), enable/disable it to refresh the network card or even send a ping to a known computer in the network. It seems that only a reboot of the system does help (if windows shuts down correctly, otherwise human needs to be stronger than computer by pressing the power off button) (In the past I had a similar problem too, which was caused of too many open ftp connections because of many little files and an overhead for tcp connections, which then resulted in a stopped queue. But this queue could be continued after some minute when the server has ended all open connections in timeout and other network functions still worked.) As already mentioned, I reproduced this about 5 times and while trying to find out if this can be avoided, following helps a bit:
Below is the currently used filezilla version, if you need additional detailed hardware/os information (dxdiag whatever) or more information that I might have forgotton here, let me know. Thanks. btw. I really really like filezilla! great job :) Conrad Version: 3.3.2.1 Build information:

#5349 | remote site address backslash replacer | reopened | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
In Windows, if one pastes a linux-style path into the location bar, the OS automatically deals with the fact that the slashes are pointing the wrong way and takes you to the intended location. It would be awesome of FileZilla could do the same thing when someone pastes a Windows-style path into the Remote site location bar. In that case, of course, the backslashes would have to be converted to foreward slashes. This seems like an easy feature to implement and would actually save me a lot of time as I go back and forth between my local Windows file system and the file system on a web server. |

#5352 | Reading the file to be sent simultaneously with ftp send | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
scenario: connected to my company network via. vpn (not exactly fast). trying to send a file that resides on company network to a remote ftp server elsewhere in the world (definitely not fast). I currently notice that the predicted time to complete is 10 hours. However, if the same file is local to my client machine the time to send is about 6 hours. The time to simply copy the file to my local pc is less than 2 hours. This leads me to infer that Filezilla is reading a block from the file and then sending the block, repeated till the send is done (appologies if this is incorrect). If my vpn connection is full duplex it should be possible to service file reads at the same time the ftp send is in progress, thereby saving time in sending files that I can only access over the same network adapter I use for the ftp send. I guess this would mean multithreading the file read and send, but I will leave the design to you geniuses. |

When there are pending files in the upload queue from a previous session and new files for upload are added, the new files are uploaded OK, but after that the transfer stops leaving the existing files pending. The remaining files are uploaded if "Process queue" is checked (when the transfer of the new files is done, "Process queue" is unchecked). |

#5362 | "Really delete 1 file?" | closed | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi: As it is now, when deleting a Filezilla file, a window pops up and on the window are the words, "Really delete 1 file?" It would be great if when deleting a file the pop up window said, "Really delete Horses.gif?" (The Horses.gif is just an example) With "Really delete 1 file?" it's easy to make a mistake and delete a file that is important and was never intended to be deleted. Thank you Norm Augustinus |

#5364 | large files upload fails | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I have no problem with small file upload such as html or images on this server of mine, but when I try to upload a large video file I get a strange behavior. The log attached refers to the file Ali_my_Slum_my_Korogocho.flv which is 105 MB. The upload progress bar reaches 100% in few seconds (!!) then stops there. After some time (30 seconds or so) it gives a file transfer failed or connection time out error. It then retries to upload the file few times but it failes even before the progress bar is displayed. Finally it asks me if I want to overwrite the file alredy present on the server (which is truncated at a size around 1MB). CuteFTP initially does the same with the progress reaching 100% but then it restarts the transfer with the progress at 3/5 % and it starts uploading the file in chunks giving a bunch of "ERROR:> Temporary completion problem reply." but it eventually succeed completing the file. Here's the log: Status: Connecting to 85.25.120.199:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... #5366 | Files downloaded after a file has been modified server-side report incorrect total size | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
If you load a folder in FileZilla, modify the file on the server (adding bytes is where I encountered it), and then download the file, the size of the file in the download queue uses the cached file size. For example, I recently did this:
The size of the download in my queue was ~1.0gb while the actual file size is over 2.0gb. Therefore the progress is reported as 100% at 1.0gb while there is still at least 1.0gb more to go. Just an annoying issue with what I assume to be the cached information on the file from when I initially loaded the folder. |

#5367 | 7-hour error on timestamp for all sent files | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Two parties have verified that text files sent via FileZilla 3.3.2.1 show a new "last modified date" that is seven hours ago. Yet, others looking at the same files on the remote server using SQL Tools 1.5 see the correct timestamp. I am using Windows XP Pro SP3, and the files are being transferred to any of several servers. In the Site Manager, we have the timezone offsets set to zero (in fact, the seven-hour error is in the wrong direction for this to be the difference between PDT and GMT.) Here's the kicker: if you drag the affected file back from the remote server, it keeps the same wrong timestamp! Love the product, just trying to help make it better... |

If I export my connections list, which have some passwords stored, the XML generated has the passwords publicly displayed. Hi FileZilla Support, I have searched high and low and tried to figure out the settings on how I can make these changes as follows: We are a construction company that posts PDF files for numerous construction projects. I understand your software to create and post the documents. What I am struggling with is on the public domain side. We want our trades to go to the source FTP link and download the documents freely without asking for a username and password. Is there a way to do this. Your help is greatly appreciated in this problem we are having. Thank you in advance of solving this problem. Regards, Blair |

#5373 | Resuming a upload | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
When my internet crashes or something stops my upload, I used to be able to re-drag the file and it would give me a screen with several options. I used to just press resume and it would continue uploading from where it started. However it does not allow this anymore, once the internet has crashed I cannot do anything with the partly uploaded file, I cannot resume or delete it etc. The message states that the file is still in use. I used to then have to restart the computer for it to release the file so i could delete it or resume the upload, however now that is not even working and I have to rename the file on my desktop and start the upload from scratch. |

Response: 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP Error: Could not connect to server So in the File->Site Manager->Transfer Settings Tab I edit "Limit Number of Connections" I set to 6 connections max. Yet when I connect to my server to upload a bunch of files again I get the same exact error with too many connections (8). This has been a very annoying bug for a long time, which I should have reported earlier but I kind of thought that someone would have run across this by now but I guess not. |

#5381 | Intermittent massive memory leak when transferring files | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Occasionally when transferring files, FileZilla client uses 100% of the physical memory available (I have 8GiB in the machine, and FileZilla goes up to approx. 92% of that) and the disk starts to thrash, significantly degrading performance. Nothing is logged during this. Once the file in the queue finishes, the memory is all released correctly and the operating system eventually recovers. FileZilla Client version 3.3.2.1, built 2010-03-21 but this problem has been happening for at least the last 6 months in various versions, if not longer. Seems to be more apparent on larger files (several gigabytes) but this could just be because they take longer to transfer, so the chance of it happening increases. It generally happens suddenly in the middle of an existing transfer. Unfortunately because it is so sporadic, it is hard to replicate. |

I've reproduced this several times. I've seen this happen with several different files and queues. Including resuming them and with a fresh one. The following is the information Windows 7 pops up after the crash Problem signature:

#5396 | Remembering overwrite action for current tab | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Pretty much what I described here: http://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?t=16418 (+tnx to boco for his comment) FEATURE REQUEST: When transmitting a file that already exists, you get the overwrite/skip/etc dialog, with the option "Always use this action", and sub-options "Apply to current queue only" and "Apply only to uploads" (or only to downloads if you're downloading). How about adding another sub-option: "Remember for this tab", which would remember the action for the current tab only (i.e. until I close the tab or entire program). Or perhaps make it "Remember for this tab/server", i.e. it should also forget the action when I connect to a different server within the same tab. This would be REALLY handy when I'm connected to a server, and drag some files in there every few minutes (which happens quite often when I'm incrementally updating a site or server or backing up stuff or whatever). I hope you will consider adding this... It would definitely make my life easier and I'd love FileZilla even more! |

Feil: Critical file transfer error */ It would be really helpfull if I add to a list all file extensions who should be removed for that server. Eg. .CBL, .COB, .SQL, when files with this extensions is tried transferred TO my server it should be removed. It could also be helpfull with a conversion when transferring from MVS to Windows. Eg. a list with dataset filter to a fileextension, *COBSRCE*=>.CBL, *DDL*=>.SQL. |

When going to certain sites (using SFTP), it gets there, BUT when I try to "Drill Down" into the site, it immediately crashes. This only occurs on a couple of the sites on my web server. It did not occur until I upgraded from Fedora 12 -> 13. I initially used the Fedora install of filezilla, and since the crash was occurring, uninstalled it and downloaded/compiled the most recent version from your site. Still happening. Weird thing is, I have WindowsXP installed on this machine in VirtualBox and filezilla works fine there. |

#5406 | Passive FTP isn't passive on the second connection | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi, SW: Filezilla Client 3.3.3, Windows XP SP3 I'm testing a PROftp server (externally hosted, on the Internet) to debug something. To help, I've also set one up internally on my LAN, and wanted to use Filezilla as the client. I'm testing on the LAN server first so I understand the ports in use etc. However, Filezilla doesn't switch to PASV on the second time I connect to the server. I define the server, and make sure that under Transfer Settings, its set to Passive. I then login (log 1). you can see Filezilla correctly sent PASV. All looks good I then disconnect, and re-login again (log 2) by clicking on the drop-down toolbar. You can see from the log that the client doesn't switch to PASV. The only way I've been able to re-connect in passive, is to close Filezilla and restart it. I can't find this in the existing buglist. Client and Server are on the same LAN. #5411 | regex based file selection/manual file selection with check boxes within a directory. | new | Feature request | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
This is a feature request to have a toolbar, to be attached to either local or ftp site windows, that would allow regular expression based search patterns to find a file, a group of files, or folder within that directory and filter to show only those files found. This regex filter toolbar would have to be an 'always active' filter and modify the currently listed files via a local cache of the directory as soon as characters are typed into this filter. Currently softwares like Directory Opus support this feature. This regex filter toolbar should not include in its actions filtering of subdirectories, or files within subdirectories, but only what is listed. This toolbar can also be settable as a preference option to work in 'AND' mode or 'OR' mode with existing 'Filename filters' In addition, ( 2nd feature ) if a checkbox could be allowed next to all filenames or folders in a listing to manually select/override the regex filter selections using a mouse. These selections would be remembered prior to right clicking and adding to queue. |

#5419 | Automatic resend of queued file when sending to mainframe | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I'm having a problem sending some files to an IBM mainframe system. Sending small files causes no problems, only larger files. After initiating a transfer to the mainframe, the connection (over what I guess is port 21) is dropped after about 2 minutes, but the file transfer continues anyway. When the transfer is finished, the mainframe shows a successful end message on the log, but FileZilla then restarts the transfer and keeps resending the same file until manually terminated. This seems to be related to the dropped connection during the transfer as it doesn't happen for smaller files where the transfer finishes before the drop of connection. As mainframe file transfers often are difficult to test, I should be able to provide a test environment for you to help debugging this problem, should it be necessary. The official FileZilla 3.3.3 is being used. |

#5421 | md5sum of files over 2gb changed | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
after downloading a file using filezilla (the file was 10gb)and checking the md5sum of the file, the md5sum of the resultant file differed from the md5sum of the original file. whats more the file differed at byte 2147483648, the point the filesize would overflow a signed 32 bit integer. i have re-downloaded the orignal file using ssh on linux (opposed to how it was originally downloaded using filezilla on 32 bit windows server 2003) and the md5sum matches, i transfered it to the windows machine using samba and the md5sum STILL matches, which takes windows out of the equation as the source of the corruption. also being that it occurred AT 2147483648, corruption from download seems unlikely. |

#5432 | Simultaneous connections error | new | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
FileZilla Client Version: 3.3.3 Build date: 2010-06-13. I did a search on Simultaneous connections and found a couple old tickets that gave little info and said they were fixed. However, I had an older version (don't recall how old) that did not have this problem but I'm now having it with the new update which I downloaded today. To best describe my problem, below is a log of my exchange with support with my host. Unfortunately, I cannot attach the log file as logging was not on by default as I discovered when I hunted trying to find the location of the log. I've changed that setting so that I'll be able to provide a log in the future. So the snippet will have to do for now. By the way, I will be posting a couple of feature requests based on my experience with this problem (haven't yet looked to see if already requested). 1) Under menu item Transfer, you have Process Queue but no Stop Process and no Erase Queue. Both are needed. 2) A way to synchronize the contents of a local folder with the contents of a remote folder. I've gone back and forth with the TicketSubmissionGuide and my ticket, and hope that I have followed all the guidelines correctly. If I've left something out, please ask.
