#3417 | data transferred incorrectly | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I ran into a problem using FileZilla: I upload a DotClear blog on a site and everything went fine, apparently (tried with different providers). When I try to run the install php file, it always fail to run (file not found error). I use WsFTP to do the same task, everything went fine. I tried different settings with no success. To reproduce the problem : -download the dotclear package (from www.dotclear.net) -unpack on local drive. -upload to a web site (www.mysite.com/dotclear/) using FileZilla. -try to run the install script: www.mysite.com/dotclear/install/index.php (script error line 33) -upload again with another ftp client (WSFTP) -run the install script, and the install page loads up. I cannot figure out what is wrong because when I check the files uploaded, eveything looks OK. |

#3418 | Linux configure issue for Filezilla 3.0.7.1 | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hi All, The --prefix option for configure seems to be ignored when searching for idna.h, I have most programs installed in a non standard location as I do not have root access so I point prefix to the base location for my installs. This usually works, but not for Filezilla, to work around this I did the following: I created an sh script and set a variable pointing to where I wished prefix to point to and then used the following: CPPFLAGS="-I/usr/include -I/usr/X11R6/include -I$PREFIX/include" export CPPFLAGS LDFLAGS="-L/lib64 -L/usr/lib64 -L/usr/X11R6/lib64 -L$PREFIX/lib" export LDFLAGS configure --prefix=$PREFIX This allowed configure to complete. I had tried setting --includedir and --libdir, but neither of these worked. Can this be fixed so all that needs to be set it the prefix location? |

#3422 | Files transfered/duplicated to wrong directories | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
This is a copy of the message I left on the filezilla forums about the issue. I can't explain this one. About 45 of 55 folders were duplicated into a folder locally when copying files to my machine. Here is the situation... I have a whole bunch of photo files I was copying from my ftp server on the internet to my windows machine. Most have .jpg extensions, but some didn't. There are about 55 folders with about 5+ gigs in there. I copied the files to my local machine by doing ctrl-a (select all) on the server and dragged them to the queue. I then went into the queue and removed the recycle bin, trash files, logs, etc files and folders that I didn't want copied to the local machine. After the transfer I checked that all the files transfered correctly by going from one directory to another and using the directory comparison. First thing I noticed was that all of the photo files without file extensions were the wrong size (larger locally). I figured out that they had all been transfered using Ascii instead of binary... this is no big deal... that was my fault. I didn't realize Filezilla would default to ascii instead of binary on files without extensions. I would think it should default to binary, but that isn't the reason I'm writing. Starting in the 12th folder(not counting sub folders) and continuing through the rest of the folders I started seeing files duplicated from the previous folder in the current folder. So the 12th folder contains the 12th folder files plus files from the 11th folder. The 13th folder contains files from the 13th folder plus files from the 12th folder, but not the 11th folder. The 14th folder contain files from the 14th folder and duplicates from the the 13th folder, but not the 11th or 12th folder. This was only locally and not on the server, so filezilla must have done it when processing or creating the queue. If what I am writing isn't clear, I'll try to diagram the files structure of my local machine 11th folder --11file1.jpg --11file2.jpg --11file3.jpg 12th folder --11file1.jpg --11file2.jpg --11file3.jpg --12xxxx.jpg --12yyyy.jpg --12zzzz.jpg 13th folder --12xxxx.jpg --12yyyy.jpg --12zzzz.jpg --13q1111.jpg --13q2222.jpg --13q3333.jpg I now have to go through and manually delete a whole bunch of files because they don't belong where they are, but I assume it also meant that filezilla downloaded almost twice as many files as it should have. BTW I'm using filezilla 3.0.7.1 on a Windows 2000 Pro Service pack 4 machine. |

I had a folder in my directory accidentally named with a space at the end. So the folder was named "57254 tn bkg utica " with a trailing space in the filename. #3427 | Unable to edit/open dot files (Windows) | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
I am using FileZilla 3.0.7.1 on Windows Vista Home Premium 32-bit. When I see a file in the local directory listing I can open that file using right mouse click on that file and select Open or Edit from the menu. This does however not work with .htaccess files. The error message: Opening failed The file 'c:\download\temp\.htaccess' could not be opened: No program has been associated on your system with this file type. But if I doubleclick a .htaccess file in the Windows Explorer, UltraEdit is opened. Also, the .htaccess file has an UltraEdit icon next to it in the FileZilla local file listing. When I rename the file to 1.htaccess, I can open and edit the file from FileZilla without any problems. |

#3429 | "Do you want to overwrite" when transferring lot of files | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Filezilla 3.0.7.1 on Windows XP Pro SP2. Using FTP with Ubuntu 7.10 ftp server from package "ftpd". Version 0.17-25. Server identifies itself as: Version 6.5/OpenBSD/Linux-ftpd-0.17 Use case: Transferring about 28000 files and directories from windows pc to linux server. There are about 10GB of files sized 1k-100k and 40GB of 5-20MB. Total size of transfer about 50GB. Transfer was over 1Gbit local ethernet. Destination directory was empty when transfer was started. Transfer was initiated by drag'n'dropping source directories into the target directory in FileZilla main window. This was done twice with different source directories. Using binary mode for all files (forced) and 10 simultaneous transfers. Problem: For four times during the transfer I got the "File exists - Do you want to overwrite file" -dialog. In two cases it reported the source and destination files to be of the same size and in two cases the destination file was smaller, as if a previous transfer had aborted for some reason. This is a problem because the destination directory was empty when transfer was started. After transfer there was nothing in "Queued transfers" or "Failed transfers" -tabs in Filezilla. I tried getting the verbose message log from retry of the transfer but I cannot find a way to redirect the log into a file and the message field is nowhere near long enough. |

#3439 | 3.0.8 freezes on every ftp upload attempt | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I updated from 3.0.7 to 3.0.8, and now FileZilla freezes uploading just a single small (6kb) text file via ftp. filezilla.exe and lsass.exe cpu usage each rise to about 8% "System" process cpu usage rises to 14% It does not get as far as listing the upload in the queue, or logging any ftp commands related to the transfer, though it does say "queued files (1)". It's like it fails doing something with the source file, and is retrying thousands of times a second. The text file being transferred is on a network drive (DFS) on a Samba file server. A previous version of the file exists on the destination. I'm running XP. |

I dont know if it's a problem from my internet provider (orange, france) or from the software. _ First excuse my english and I am only a user. I have a directory with 22,000 folders inside. It doesn't matter how long I wait, filezilla gets stuck on "Here comes the directory listing". Even if I try to drag the file into the directory I want without opening it filezilla insists on trying to get the directory listing (probably to check if file already exists?). |

#3456 | Show warning if default remote directory is not accepted | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
A warning message should appear in case the setting of the default remote directory is not accepted. If this message is not shown the user will always think that this is a nasty bug of Filezilla. See also discussion of bug 1927951. One can reproduce this by creating a new site in the site manager, select VxWorks as servertype and enter a default remote directory /sdlog/. The directory is *silently* dropped. |

#3475 | Account for server & client time difference | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
When target file exists, "Overwrite if source newer" is an excellent option, but its usefulness is degraded by time differences between server & client machines. Consider I'm on in EST and FTP Server is on PST, and I upload a file to Server at 5:00. Server accepts file and timestamps it as 2:00 (its local time). Now if I upload file again, FileZilla Client sees file as newer, always uploading the file even if there were no changes. Worse is if I'm PST and server is EST. I upload file at 2:00, server timestamps it as 5:00. Then if I soon change the file and re-upload my files (2:02) with this option, Client will not see this file as newer so it's not uploaded. Client should account for local time differences between client and server machines, and it can do so automagically as follows. The first time during a session that this option is used, Client can upload a dummy file to the server, collect its timestamp from the server (getting the server's local time), then delete the file. It saves a "time skew" for the session, which is local time minus server time. Then when comparing dates for the "if newer" option, it adds the time skew to the dates for file on the server, to get the files' timestamps in local time. In fact, you may even do this at the beginning of any session so that the Remove site files' Last modified dates are shown in local time. |

It kept downloading and around the point where it was approximately 150MB, I copied the file to another folder to attempt to open it. I opened it, and the contents looked fine. It continued to download until it was 156MB and then produced the following error: The data is invalid. Error: Critical error Same exact thing with the second file (except that one went until 145MB). I extracted the file one more time after the download completed and again, the contents seemed fine, just the file itself was about twice as big as it was supposed to be. |

installed new ver on a mac. i originally downloaded the ppc ver, cause i own both, on the mac mini intel, it crashed a lot. so i downloaded the intel ver. turns out was a different problem, more details below. but switching may have caused issue 1. (1) main problem that is going to force me to find a different client to use. can not save settings anymore. it comes up with the settings that i had put in it before, but i try to save them is says cant find the file. at one point i had moved the program also. was going to run it from a usb drive/device. is unclear to me witch part started the issue, due to can not get it working again to test. i am able to save sites, in the site manager. is the preferances that wont save. (2) crashing, appears is a permissions issue confected to an EX machine where the files are local network. drag and drop to ftp window crashes most times. when drag to a sub dir on the server. if i open the dir and click it, it works. and crashes every time if their is a file usage permissions issue. seems to only happen when i use winzip to zip the files. |

There is no reason, that i am aware of, why the textual host value should not work (it works in all browsers and other ftp clients). If text is not supported, it should mention that and ignore the port number, (which was correct) until a numerical value for the host is entered. |

In the Local and Remote site file lists, there are support for "Find as you type", as in e.g. Windows XP. While this works fine for a-z, it doesn't work for underscores (_). Reproducible: always Steps to reproduce:
Actual results: Windows XP's "Default Beep" sounds, nothing else. Expected results: the file that is named "_*" is selected. |

#3514 | Dragging Files to Remote File Window Causes Crash | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
On Mac OSX 10.5.2 with version 3.0.10 of FileZilla when I connect to any FTP site and then click on a file in the Local site window and drag it to the Remote site window, before my mouse gets to the remote site window FileZilla freezes and a second later it crashes and I get the standard OSX crash dialog box. This happens every time. Interestingly, the reverse operation does not cause a crash. If I drag a file from the remote site window to the local site window Filezilla does not crash and the file is downloaded as expected. I had the same issue in 3.0.9.x on OSX I love filezilla and have been a fan for years! I use it all the time on Windows XP and it never crashes there, but on OSX it does crash all the time. |

#3515 | Installer: Remember desktop shortcut choice | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Hi, really small annoyance. This behaviour is present since version 3.0 beta until 3.0.10. At the end of the installation the installer asks me where it should put the shortcuts. And each time the desktop shortcut is unselected and I have to enable it manually. Can't you make it so, that the installer remembers that I had the desktop icon enabled with the old version of Filezilla? |

#3518 | File uploads | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
When I upload either a single large file or a large number of smaller files, the program a minute or two into the upload indicates that the server disconnected. The upload continues to completion even though the upper status window is saying that the server isn't connected. Note: there is a moinor difference between uploading a single large file and a large number of smaller files: With a single large file, The upper status window and the right-side server windows both indicate that the server has disconnected. With a large number of smaller files, only the right-side server windows indicate that the server has disconnected. The upper status window continues to converse with the server as the files are transferred and the bottom windows continue to indicate the decrease in the number of queued files and the increase in the number of files transferred. This is very disconcerting especially for a new user of the program. When the program is telling you that you have been disconnected a lot of users may try to reconnect (I didn't try that because I could see that the file transfer(s)appeared to be continuing. I chose a wait and see attitude about it and it appears that even though the program was saying it had disconnected, it completed the file transfer(s). At the conclusion of the file transfer, I was able to reconnect without any issues. |

#3519 | Strange thing happen | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Hi there, I've been using Filezilla Client for Windows for a long time, and since I've installed Vista 64bits on my computer, there's a strange thing that happen. Indeed, each time I launch Filezilla, my HDD stops and restarts... I've tested it several times before sending you his bug report. My HDD is a 200GB SATA (Maxtor). Maybe it's Vista's fault, but I noticed it only with Filezilla... Best Regards, BluePyth |

#3521 | Sort order won't stick | closed | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client
Description |
Version 3.0.10 running on XP Pro The local file list won't keep sort order; it always reverts to sort by name ascending. The remote pane does retain this setting. I even tried manually editing <Setting name="Local filelist sortorder" type="string">0 0</Setting> in filezilla.xml; it always reverts to "0 0" on program exit. |
