Description

I have just installed FileZilla Client v3.0.9 and it crashes when I connect to any ftp server. The standard "... has encountered a problem and needs to close" Windows dialog appears.

I tried to open the Settings dialog, to enable "Trace messages..." and "Show raw...", but I get the same crash.

My operating system is Windows XP Professional with all the updates. I'm using the latest FileZilla Client, and it was installed over the v3.0.8.1 version, as I did everytime a new stable version was released.

You can try to rename the directory "\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\FileZilla" to something else so that FileZilla starts up with its default settings. Does this help? If not, delete the newly created directory and rename the previously renamed directory back.

I have installed the new 3.0.9.1 version and the problem is solved.

Shouldn't there be a mention of this bugfix in the new version's release notes?

Thank you!

Excuse the interruption. :)

Why won't FileZilla start anymore?
This could happen if for some reason your FileZilla installation or the settings get corrupted. First try to reinstall FileZilla, this won't change your settings. If that didn't work, try to delete the %APPDATA%\FileZilla directory. (e.g. "C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\FileZilla" under XP and "C:\Users\username\AppData\FileZilla" under Vista.)
