I use filezilla in passive mode to upload big images (4 to 6MB) to a lycos multimania account. If i touch my computer launch an program or browse the internet while the image is uploading the image doesn't upload correctly. It has either stripes, strange white lines, blocks. etc.

Latest update 3.2.6.1 doesn't download attachments with hashed filenames from SMF Simple Machine Forum software 1.1.9 as binary although I choose binary, and unchecked []treat files without extension as asci. BTW version 3.2.6 (yesterday) with settings as above did download them as binary. BTW ws_ftp and cuteftp have no problems, even on auto.

I transfered .htpasswd file to remote server selecting option as ascii. Hoever, when i access the transfered file, I see it as 'unknown file type(binary file) How to make sure the file is transfered only as ascii only.

Have had issues trying to transfer .mp4 video files via ftp to a server using filezilla client version 3.2.3.1. File transfer would fail at aprox 30 mb. Resume would fail to work. This has happened four times with that version.

I've since reverted back to version 3.1.5.1. This version, the binary transfer works as it should. The transfer isn't failing and resume is working as it should.

I tried to fix this problem all over google. Some reason when ever I try to conenct to FileZilla my screen goes black for a good 5-10 seconds then I get a blue screen. I can't find any solution I downloaded multiple versions of FileZilla and nothing worked.

Our company uses FileZilla to all our FTP accounts with all our employees on Windows 7. Up to 3.8.1, we have been running our accounts off a soft symbolically linked sitemanager.xml ( via mklink in cmd )file that is backed up offsite, and thus available to all our employees as they work on their specific version of FileZilla. When we updated to 3.9.1, FileZilla is now unable to see the mklink'd file's contents, and returns 0 bytes. As this has happened across all our computers, and we've re-linked the files numerous times with no success, we've reverted back to 3.8.1 so our business can continue to operate.

As a clarification, the file itself is not located on an internal server, as some of our employees do not work in the office. It has been setup on each pc's with a soft symbolic link that references a file in a local folder that is backed up offsite and each of our pc's have that cloned folder ( Dropbox ).

We'd love to provide any additional information to assist in this bug's resolution, as it is and has been an intricate part of our development model for many years.

In Options -> Directory Cache, if one or more of the "hours, minutes, seconds" entries has *no value* (i.e. nothing is entered there, and isn't zero), hitting OK brings up a blank prompt with nothing but an ok button.

There's no indication of what is wrong, and had I not remembered exactly what I had changed I might not have figured it out.

It might also be good to assume non-entered values here are zero.

Found the bug using FZ 2.2.4b, but confirmed in 2.2.4f on both win2k and winxp.

There should be something in the server interface where the administrator could set an X number of attempts to login to the server before the server bans the IP address

Dear Sirs, During the last update I got a blue screen. Two more attempts to update resulted in further crashes. Dowloaded the update file from your site but same problems. Uninstalled Filezilla. Ran registry cleaner. Tried installing Filezilla - blue screen (twice). Seems the initial crash resulted in some damaged registry files which will need to be removed manually. Are you able to help? i´m using the filezilla-client 3.7.3; with SFTP max. 2xConnections. This was the last version with no bluescreen´s. The problem occurs in version >3.7.3 after -> "Action after queue completion"->"shutdown system" (when the queue is empty)

I would like to have the feature with the drop down menu to connect to a bookmarked server (as in Filezilla v2). The little arrow next to the site manager button.

When I use the Manage Bookmarks feature, the items are ordered case insensitively. When I close the Bookmark manager, I see that the bookmarks are ordered case sensitively. I think this should be standardized to case insensitive. When you have the time ;)

One suggestion here was about "follow me", this is something similar but much simpler. Seen in FlashFXP.

The ability to bookmark folders. The button should be on the remote side. When bookmarking the remote folder is saved with the local (the current folders are written in the fields but you can browse for others), you might also name the bookmark. Then when clicking on a bookmark both remote and local folders change.

The bookmarks are site-specific of course.

Easy deletion and editing of the bookmarks.

The bookmarks should be saved in an XML for easy backup.

The Use synchronized browsing checkbox doesn't appear to be bound to anything. Synchronized browsing works appropriately for new bookmarks by setting it in the dialog, but changing it for existing bookmarks doesn't seem to have an effect, and it always appears unchecked even if the bookmark was created with it and it works. I'm using v3.2.3.1 of the win32 zip package from SourceForge.

Even after my session has expired and the connection terminated, I get a "Break Connection?" alert when I attempt to re-connect. FileZilla should know that the connection has expired and not alert me.

In the Admin Interface, in the list control at the bottom, it shows outstanding connections and a column called Progress, which contains a really big number, that I cannot really read, because it is too many digits consecutively with no delimiter, and they keep changing so I cannot even focus on it trying to count out how many there are from one side to the other.

Adding commas every three digits (or every four, or whatever) would help a lot.

When downloading to USB drive in Windows 7, if the drive disconnects for any reason the file download stops and does not restart when the drive reconnects. The file name of the partially downloaded file is moved to the successfully downloaded window instead of the download failed window. This makes you believe you downloaded the entire file successfully but instead you only downloaded part of the file and you have to check each file to make sure you downloaded all of the file.

It used to work correctly in older versions of the client.

Since the last update I have issues with the FileZilla Client. evertime I download or upload an image on my FTP server with your product the file is destroyed u cant see what is on the image but the filesize is the same as efor up or downloading. If i use an other Programm for transfering data there are no issues

Hello, i was editing a file directly on the server without a backup on my system after editing this file i clicked save adn closed it which it will ask if i want to save the file back to the server i clicked which i approved but immeditely i approved my system went off and after restarting my system i realized the file had been broken and the contents werent complete, please i dont have a backup of this file on my system only on the server and all the files are gone i need an urgent response.

I have broken main menu icons on my mac book air. And it breaks every time I click on some buttons in main panel and stays broken next time. And after application restart too. I've attached a screenshot.

Files in the queue whose transfers are broken partway are always resumed by FZ, even if the server doesn't support resuming.

Resetting a file's queue status doesn't help; you have to remove the file from the queue and transfer again.

The ability to download files also on shared folders. The local site window could show additionnaly to the local PC the neighborhood (and why not even the desktop) like the windows file explorer does. Similarly it should be possible to enter paths like 'PC_NAME/Folder in the local path window.

FileZilla is a great program !

The ability to browse to the remote and local directories in the site manager would be really helpful. Some of my local default FTP folders are deeply nested and typing them in manually takes a long time.

Otherwise this is an awesome application!!

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION: When clicking on the Desktop folder shortcut appearing in the Local site's tree view (remote site is Linux, so I could not test if behavior is the same on Remote site's tree view), the hard disk of my computer starts spinning like crazy for about 10 to 15 seconds before control is given back to the UI.

This behavior might be related to a fix / enhancement implemented to solve tickets 1088 and 1089.

In the latest source code /tests/dirparsertest.cpp, there is a buffer overflow in function DirectoryListingParserTest::testIndividual().
len is the length of entry.data, not including the null character. So the sizeof(data) is len. According to the reference of memcpy​http://www.cplusplus.com/reference/cstring/memcpy/, we need to make sure the 1st parameter of memcpy is larger than strlen(2nd parameter)+1(1 means the null-character.) So we should change 1475 to char* data = new char[len+1]; data[len]=0;

To avoid overflows, the size of the array pointed by destination shall be long enough to contain the same C string as source (including the terminating null character), and should not overlap in memory with source.

The "directory comparison" and "filter dialog" icons in all themes are inverted!

The attached patch cahanges two classes. The fix should only affect MS windows systems.

All the extentions added to the file type associations table should be lower case and then when a file is opened in the local list view the extention should also be treated as lower case.

On FileZilla 2.2.27, go to:

Edit->Settings->FTP Proxy Settings

and select any Proxy Type, then enter some details in the Proxy host, Port, User and Pass fields and save these.

Next go to Edit->Settings->FTP Proxy Settings again and try and remove all the entries you put in the fields and click on None for the proxy type.

You will get a /!\ dialog box with no text. If you press OK for the dialog box and then press OK for the settings window, you will get the same dialog box and cannot get out without pressing Cancel.

In FileZilla 3 I get the following Errors: Error: Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

This only happens on one server I connect to and I can connect and do a directory listing successfully to other servers on the same domain. It doesn't happen in FileZilla version 2 and I can connect and do a file listing on this server with KFTPGrabber so it seems to be an issue with FileZilla 3. I have found that if I go to the view menu and click refresh that sometimes it will reconnect and the directory listing will work but sometimes it won't. It's a difficult bug to squash I'll bet. I have seen others having this same issue in the forum. So just to be clear, I can connect, the error occurs when FileZilla attempts to execute the directory listing on the remote FTP server. The remote FTP server is running Microsoft FTP Service (Version 5.0).

I think I have found a bug in the Options dialog. When trying to assign a default program to open files, unless I click the <Ok> button for every entry nothing is saved. This requires me to reopen the Options for every program I want to assign.

I have encountered a bug which pops up whenever I click on Edit - Settings - File Transfer Settings. An error message pops up saying "An unsupported operation was attempted", and then there are no options there for file transfer.

Previously when a user used SFTP and exceeded a storage quota Filezilla would report an error indicating the user had exceeded the quota and would not upload the file. With the recent update this no longer happens and the user does not receive an error message but only a 0kb file is uploaded. User thinks upload is successful. Please see attached log file.

When using FTPS, the file is not uploaded however the system tries repeatedly to upload the same file over and over and over again. Please see attached log file.

Attached log file is for a user with a 0 storage quota uploading a 82,751 PNG file to the server.

I'm not sure whether or not this is a windows 7 issue but I doubt it.

The program will not allow me to open/edit any files from within the program using dreamweaver CS4 even after setting the file type associations which creates a lot more work for nothing!

Here's the exact error:

The file 'C:\DW\premierparts.ca\acceptDecline.php' cannot be opened: The associated program (WX_DDE#"C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS4\Dreamweaver.exe","C:\DW\premierparts.ca\crm\acceptDecline.php"##System#) could not be found. Please check your filetype associations.

The whole problem is that if two files are named the same. e.g. rules.php and one is on the remote server and the other on the local disk, then editing this on the local disk causes that it overwrites the remote server file.

The Filezilla server requires a welcome message or it'll crash...tested it with a standard install...and added one simple user account... However if you have already succesfully logged in with a message currently, you'll have to reboot to see this for yourself...I'm absolutely sure this is a reason why it was failing for me... to filezilla supporters-> keep up the great work and happy new year! ..:-)

Hi ! I am using File-Zilla for the first time & saw that it's a very nice tool. But, have 4 issues, which are as follows: -

1. Due to any reason, if system get restarted or shut down, it don't keep the track that which of the files are in download/upload process, how much %age is completed & how much is remaining, how many files are their to be downloaded.

2. Suppose a RAR/ZIP file is getting downloaded or uploaded & say it's size is 315 MB. If, in between Internet gets disconnected or by any reason Connection between Server-Client interrupted. Then after resume, File-Zilla continues the Download/Upload process even after 100% process graph & when we see the size of file at the download location then it's size is greater than original size & the file is of NO use.

3. Verfication & Synchronization after download - both of these options are missing.

4. If we set - "Action after Queue completion" to "Close File-Zilla" then it closes the File-Zilla software WITHOUT DISCONNECTING THE CONNECTION FROM SERVER. I personally saw this issue that after completion File-Zilla closes itself & when I check at the Server then in FTP current connection the connection is active. In this process, I suggest that after completion, File-Zilla first gets disconnected from Server & then closes itself. This process should be following in two more actions - Restart system & ShutDown system.

I'm running Ubuntu Linux 9.04, gcc 4.3.3, libwxgtk2.8-dev 2.8.10.1-0.

I'm trying to build filezilla 3.9.0.2 on Arch Linux and I get the attached build errors (starting around line 200). I'm building against wxgtk 3.0.1.

Is this an issue with wxgtk or filezilla?

Greetings, It would be very handy if I could see which tranfer type is set. Now I have to go to the menu (transfer->Tranfer type) to see which is selected. Buttons on the toolbar to change the tranfer type would be handy. Ther could be 3 buttons (one for each type).De color of the button could indicate if that trnafer type is selected.

The administrative tool at startup displays a "Connect to server" windows, there are two buttons, one is "Ok", the other displays "Abbrechen", what does it mean?

Due to various reasons, sometimes I want the bandwidth limits in place and sometimes I don't. It would be nice if I could toggle the bandwidth limits using a button on the toolbar.

In Site Manager, when logon type is normal (not tested in anonymous), when "bypass proxy / firewall settings" is checked, FileZilla try to connect to proxy, when one is defined.

the bypass proxy feature was really useful to me in version 2.x but was lost in the version 3.x So here are the patches that made this feature "alive" again. I build the patched filezilla under mingw (cygwin) and all works fine.

I'm using FTP 3.37.0 (compilation date 2018-09-17) under Windows 10 Enterprise (Version 1703, 15063.1324), all in french.

Settings:

I've a site registered :

• FTP Explicit with TLS if possible;
• Host name setup, no port setup (21 used)
• Normal authentication, login with a '|' and a regular password
• Second tab is left empty/default;
• Third tab is set to passive transfer mode, nothing else modified;
• 4th/last tab left as default.

It's not a public ftp so i can give it by mail but not in public.

Usage: The certificate is expired, and is well raised as expired with a pop-up, with expiratino date in red (level 0). But when i use the drop-down list to see intermediate certificate (n°1) and root certificate (n°2), the expiration date is colored red, even if their expiration date is in the future.

Abnormal behaviour: It seems that the red color of the 'expiration date' zone is kept red for other level than level 0, even if they are not... Shouldn't it be only the expired one that must be in red, and not the other ones ? If in red, we can think that it's expired, even if it's not ;-(

The return value of CAsyncSocketEx::IOCtl() should be inverted. CAsyncSocketEx::IOCtl() calls ioctlsocket() which returns 0 if success, and SOCKET_ERROR if not success.

CAsyncSocketEx::IOCtl() therefore should return TRUE if ioctlsocket() returns 0. This is not the case at the moment. This causes problems in WindowProc() of AsyncSocketEx.cpp when processing the FD_READ event.

A correct implementation of IOCtl() would be:

When you simply click in the local drives the CD/DVD Player, you'll get the error: Cannot enumarate files in directory <<YOURDRIVELETTER>> (Error 21: The device is not ready)

I cannot delete a file because I do not have permissions to. I chmod the file to 777 but the response is: Command: SITE CHMOD 744 index.php Response: 550 Could not change perms on index.php: Operation not permitted

Chmod the directory to recurse into the file doesn't work either.

It would be realy nice if there whas an option to chmod only folders or only files within an folder or subfolders.

Now i have to browser to every folder manualy.

PS: Mabye as an extra feature, but not realy needed, is to do this for specific file types.

I am using XP Pro

After changing the access attributes of a Folder, the new attributes are not refreshed in the client. In this example the existing attributes before CHMOD were 755

Right click on the folder afterwards --> File attributes and it shows the old settings before CHMOD was applied (755). Close FZ and launch it again. It now displays the correct current attributes (777).

In the previous version (the 2...something), you could have changed the file attributes in Linux AND Windows, but now you simply execute a simple "CHMOD" command, which of course does not work on Windows servers.

Ver 1.3 doesn't allow to change the CHMOD of a selected group of files and/or directories, you can only CHMOD one by one. Please allow that in the next release. Thanks for this great program!

I'm running the latest Filezilla (2.2.13) and the latest Gene6 FTP Server (v3.5.0 (Build 10)). Gene6 requires CLNT to be sent before OPTS UTF8 ON. According to the Gene6 programmers, this is the correct method. I have their full response in the forum post above.

I saw that the CLNT before UTF8 was listed as a fixed bug in 2.2.13, but it's still broken for me. Here's the relevant output from a connection:

RaidenFTPD is one of the ftp client that requires CLNT before OPT UTF8 ON. However, the CLNT detection on FZ v2.2.15 fails to detect the CLNT requirement since the reponse of RaidenFTPD is something like:

That is, there is a single quote mark "'" (ASCII 0x27) prefixing the CLNT string such that CFtpControlSocket::DiscardLine method defined in FtpControlSocket.cpp could not catch that and not set 'm_hasClntCmd' to be 'true'.

The attachment is a small patch that adds " 'CLNT" and " \"CLNT" pattern into the CFtpControlSocket::DiscardLine. I'm not sure it will work since I have no VC++ to rebuild on my box. ;-)

CMD+C to copy a file name does not work in the file list.

CMD+A does not work for marking all files in the file list (local and server).

The problem of viewing and operating with cyrillic-named (Codepage 1251) folders on remote FTP (f.e. 85.118.227.108).

In "Site manager" I tried both "Autodetect" and "Custom charset" with no effect.

CP1251-named folders look correct in list view and incorrect in tree view (above the list view).

A small patch regarding this both commands CPFR / CPTO that are *really missing* to the standard FTP protocol and be very usefull for FTP server.

But I know:

• This is non standard and, AFAIK only proFTP has currently implemented this
• Due to the functionality itself, this can be a huge security issue also, so code has to be checked and reviewed several times before being committed
• Once again (don't hate me yet please) I did a quick patch using notepad, I need to verify if it's compiling and that it's working but I submit it here so at least it is saved somewhere for now.

Pending your feedback on the concept (adding a non RFC commands but a "defacto" FTP commands) and meanwhile I will try to submit a clean, working and tested patch.

-Using filezilla 3.0.0-beta8 on linux (seems to happen on Windows too -> ​http://filezilla.sourceforge.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3433 - When transfering lots of file, the CPU load drops to 100% after a short time. It seems to be due to the log of commands/response displayed while files being uploaded. If you right-clic -> clear all, the CPU Load comes back to a normal level. Confirmations?

CPU Usage 99% on Windows 2000 FileZilla Client using FileZilla_3.2.8.1_win32-setup.exe The client loads and starts, but stays at 99% CPU usage. The menus are not clickable. I cannot close the application, says the debugger is still running. The only way to shut down the application is to do a shutdown>reboot

I am using filezilla 3.9.0.6 on linux with wxWidgets 3.0.2.

After starting filezilla, without connecting to a server or doing anything, the filezilla process uses 99% of a CPU Core, and the X-Server process raises its CPU load from 1% to about 60%.

i was deleting several thousand log files in one dir.

the cpu usage on my machine was so high i had a hard time shutting it down so i could remote in to do it.

every time it deleted a file, it would refresh server files listing. with on occasion would show the change, it could not keep up, and takes a long time to delete them all.

and for me, i dont care. refresh when it is done.

When I start filezilla from the command line in the directory where I installed filezilla, I get the error message in the terminal window but the filezilla window opens and appears to function properly.

Note that the error message appears as the filezilla window is being drawn. I have not interacted with the filezilla window at this point.

For years I have relied on FileZilla to overwrite existing files as a method to change the existing item. What I ended up doinf is deleting and then uploading the new file. Now after trying numerous times I get the message "Critical File transfer error". At first I thought it was my upload speed but its not, as I successfully changed files last week. The only difference is that I receive updates from Filezilla and because I chose to let it update for me, it would appear that trying to overwrite is next to impossible. Any suggestions?

Upload on Filezilla 3.7.0.2 of css files from Win7 to GoDaddy arrive corrupted and with smaller file sizes. I upgraded to 3.7.1 and found I could not connect at all, so I downgraded. When files are uploaded directly through GoDaddy they arrive intact.

Prior versions did, but this shortcut no longer functions.

Expected: CTRL+S is bound to the site manager UI

On opening Firezilla I get: Subclass 'CTToolbar' not found for service 'ID_TOOLBAR', not subclassing!'

Also, I am running version 3.3.4. I have downloaded v. 3.3.4.1 but when I try to install it I get an 'already running' message. I have no version open, and Task Manager does not report either an Application or a Process running.

After connecting to the server with a wrong password this pw is cached and can not be corrected. So Filezilla needs to be restarted in order to connect again. As Filezilla realizes, that the connection can't be opened, it should ask for the password again.

This is still happening in 3.29.0 even though response to issue #4491 says it would be fixed in next version. This happens when save password for this session option is selected upon entering password on a site where login is set to "Ask for password."

When downloading 100GB backup files the overwrite/resume prompt window shows old (cached?) size info about the local files after an unexpected reboot during long download (Enforced Windows Update reboot).

The Local site file listing also shows old data. Hitting F5 multiple times to refresh sometimes updates the window to the current file size. Without knowing it has to be refreshed, FileZilla will redownload large parts of the file.

Event Sequence: Start downloads at 9 am after backup finishes. File download is progressing to 80GB. Unexpected reboot happens at night. Restart the machine and reload Filezilla. Local site and overwrite/resume window show the file progress is at 50GB (the last server reconnect perhaps?) and resumes from 50GB point. Window Explorer shows file was 70GB before download resume.

I uploaded a file to my server through FileZilla. I realized a typo in the file name so within filezill I renamed it to the appropriate name. I then when to check within a web browser if the file was viewable and it was not. The permissions are all correct and it is in a publicly viewable folder.

Further looking into it I found that the file that filezill was showing versus the files that were on the server were different. Out of the 4 files in this folder the one I had change with filezill had not been changed on the server. The server was reporting the old info.

I called the hosting comapny, host gator, and they had no issues with the server or the ftp. So I remove the filezill version I had on my PC, windows 7, wiped all the info out and got the newest version from your site. I added the folder from the zip file to my comp and ran the program. When I ran the program it came up with all the server information already in it.

Two questions,

1. How did it come up with the server info if I deleted the older program and

2. Why is the program not showing the correct files or uploading them.

Hello, I have a big problem with caching and I don't know how to clean up cached files on my FileZilla. After editing a file I uploaded it successfully but later found that the file has not been changed.

I've had some problems with the timezone offset, mainly due to the fact that it doesn't take Daylight Savings Time into account. I've seen some other bug reports/feature requests for that.

What I'd like to see is if you would be willing to add an automatic timezone offset calculation. Dreamweaver does this by creating a new file on the server, getting its creation time/date, deleting the file and comparing the time/date with the local time/date. It's a pretty simple procedure that would make life a lot easier.

Of course, it wouldn't hurt if you could auto-adjust for daylight savings time as well. If not, the auto-timezone calculation would need to be repeated at least once per day.

When I call FileZilla.exe from the Win2K command line by entering "filezilla", the program crashes. When I enter "filezilla.exe" or run the program via the start menu or Windows explorer, the error does not occur. Under Windows 98 SE the error also does not occur. It occurs only with Windows 2000.

I create a separate thread in the destructor of ControlSocket. But the server exited unexpectedly and I couldn't stop the server from the service console. Can I do something asynchronisely when the user disconnected with the server?
