After connecting to the server with a wrong password this pw is cached and can not be corrected. So Filezilla needs to be restarted in order to connect again. As Filezilla realizes, that the connection can't be opened, it should ask for the password again.

This is still happening in 3.29.0 even though response to issue #4491 says it would be fixed in next version. This happens when save password for this session option is selected upon entering password on a site where login is set to "Ask for password."

On a practical note, having a non-rDNS-style AppStream ID is problematic for users of GNOME Software and KDE Discover (and other similar software center apps) when Filezilla is available from their distros' packages as well as Flathub--which correctly enforces rDNS-style AppStream IDs. If the AppStream IDs don't match between these sources, then the software centers can't de-duplicate them and users confusingly see two entries when they search for FileZilla. Standardizing on the rDNS-style ID eliminates this problem (in addition to conforming to the spec).

I am unable to connect to the dropbox to sumbit our claims.

It looks like the 'dropbox' option was deleted from our server; however, it is still appearing as an option.

When opening FZ, all functionality is still fine. Soon as I click on "File" then "SiteManager" I loose my scroll wheel and right click functionality on all opera webpages. This issue does not influence Firefox nor OpenOffice. I still have left click function in opera main menu and tool bar. Only inside webpages I can only scroll with the up/down arrows on the keyboard. When I left click/right click inside a form or hover over a dropdown, nothing happens. (Could not fill out this ticket in Opera - had to open Firefox.) To get rid of the problem, I have to restart Opera while FZ is still open. I can then work in FileZilla and Opera - no problem. As soon as I disconnect from the server in FZ and go into "File" "Site Manager" again, the same thing happens. Opera mouse functions disappear on webpages.

If I have a slow connection to server, browsing the directory tree is very troublesome. If I want to go to certain path I already know, I need to wait every parent directory to load first so that I can expand their children. So I need to click twice and wait between. Usually this is avoided by allowing expanding unknown directory. After the directory has been loaded arrow can be hidden.

Browsing is also clumsy when I sometimes click wrong directory accidentally. Then I need to wait it to load before I can open the directory which I wanted. The previous directory retrieving should be cancelled if user changes directory during the operation.

With these changes browsing would be way faster also with a slow connection.

After installing newest release, 3.30.0-rc1, when I drag the cursor to select file names in order to drag and transfer them to the remote site, the highlight does not work properly, sending the cursor jumping to different parts of the screen.

Building libfilezilla fails on Mac OS X 10.6 and earlier:

Sorry, I have a lot of files on my server in one folder (over 38K files). Can this be handled with a bug fix? Client is running on Win 7 64 bit, also other OS are affected (but some aren't).

The last couple versions of had this bug, though not in versions past. In the file browser pane (either local or remote), doing any sort of mouse dragging (ie to select multiple files, etc.) suddenly slams the view all the way to the right of the pane. This only happens if there is a horizontal scroll bar present; if there's no scroll bar there's no issue, you can lasso documents fine.

• Connect to an ftp or sftp server by using FileZilla 3.30.0
• Enter a remote directory and rename a file in that directory
• End renaming operation by clicking outside of the file-name textbox
• As a result, you won't be able to click on any file from that point forward or click on "..." to switch to another directory.
• Refreshing file listview does not help. The only way to unfreeze file listview is to switch to another directory by using the remote site combobox other than closing the application and opening it back on.

It doesn't occur if you use Enter Key to finish renaming a file.

This happens after a couple of images have been successfully uploaded I have been using Filezilla for ages and never experienced the same issue.

• Select at least 6 files and move those into parent directory by using your mouse and dragging and dropping them into "..."
• Once all's moved, click on "..." to enter parent directory
• You'll see every file that's inside that parent directory was selected just like when we press Cmd-A keys

Similar thing occurs, say, you have one folder and 6 files inside a directory. If you were to move all those files into that one folder and then enter that folder, you'll see all files except the first one in that directory got selected.

It doesn't occur if you select and move less than 6 files

To refresh the client window (of files and dirs), the program currently supports only the F5 command key, but those F1-F12 keys are gradually being phased out by laptop makers. In most apps nowadays, the new standard is Ctrl+R to refresh a window. FileZilla should allow the use of Ctrl+R to refresh the window.

If you want to select files on the remote folder and press down mouse button and move the mouse up or down to select files, the mouse cursor jumps to the very bottom right edge of the screen. This bug only appears if I use FileZilla on a second screen and only in the remote file list.

I am using FileZilla 3.30.0 in order to connect from my Windows 10 Home 64 bit PC to my office server (Windows 2003 server) through a VPN internet connection.

I am able to upload (from my PC to the server) files of any size, but cannot download files larger than a couple of Kbytes: in the example below, the transfer fails after 2,920 bytes, restarts the loading (where it stopped, I imagine), fails again after the subsequent 2,920 bytes), and so on, until in the end it aborts the connection before having managed to load the whole file.

I hadn't used this connection in order to download contents for quite a while, but am pretty sure it worked well with my previous home PC (which was running Windows 7). This is a new machine, to which I copied the FileZilla parameters.

When accessing the contents of my FritzBox 7490 there is one directory which is listed in Filezilla but cannot be accessed.

Whatever I try for that one specific directory (rename, change rights, enter) fails with message "550: No such file or directory".

All other directories are not showing this behavior. I crosschecked with other ftp client (Filezilla, see attached screenshot), here, everything works out fine.

The directory's name is "awo_haan_dbbackup", it contains 110 files using 285 MB of space.

The "successful transfers" tab in the "transfer queue" window includes the skipped file transfers along with the actual upload/download transfers in a single list. So you can't tell which files were actually transferred and which were skipped. Could you please consider adding a separate "skipped" tab? Or maybe adding a "status" column in the "successful transfers" tab, with the appropriate indication "transferred/skipped"? Thank you in advance and please excuse my poor English.

The content of the certificate dialog ("Unknown Certificate") exceeds the screen height on Notebooks with a screen size of 1366x768 pixels (tested on my ThinkPad x230).

Though the "OK" and "Cancel" buttons are on screen, part of the content (and the "Don't ask again" checkbox) is not.

I'm proposing to just make the content scrollable.

When selecting files in directory tree with horizontal scroll, the cursor sharply moves to the corner of the screen or selection moves very slowly.

When there is no horizontal scroll - everything works fine.

I have an account inside the Digital Ocean Spaces, which uses the S3 technology, the same as the amazon, I do all the configuration of the Host, User and password, it does of the process, but points to the amazom server, even when I type the url of digital ocen, follows images.

There is a problem that present for a long time - FTP client built in TotalCommander have bad compatibility with current FileZilla server - it may sometimes show empty folders that are full of files or drop filetransfer after random file.

It loks like appeared from some FileZilla server update near 2 years ago. I'm not sure what is source of a problem, FileZilla server log not helpful in this case too. Also I'm not even sure that problem is on TotalCommander side or FileZilla server side (but official FileZilla client have no problems with same server). What I know - it not depends on connection way (SSL or normal, passive or not), but depends on client side - there is more prolems when client is an old slow PC and/or slow internet connection. From server side - there is more chance for interrupted transfer, if try to download a folder with a lot of small files (real example - saved webpages with all their resources/images/scripts)

Closing ticket as it must be a client-side issue, there is nothing in the server log that matches the described symptoms.

I've seen an increase in attacks against FileZilla FTP Server installs I'm administering.

While it looks like these attacks are unsuccessful, they are getting annoying, and I'd like to ensure my installs are as protected as possible. They are on high ports, but security by obscurity is not real security, only a deterrent until port scanners come along and information is passed around.

I would like to see an option to automatically implement kick and ban length already configured in settings for specific commands coming in that match attack patterns, even if I have to maintain my own list of patterns.

More complete logs can also be provided upon request, as there are a lot more entries with each attempt mucking up my logs and console.

When you close FileZilla and re-boot using a monitor with a different resolution, the location and size of the window is quite wrong. The size and position should be saved in a resolution-independent way (rather than raw pixels) so it will look similar when switching monitors/changing resolution. (my laptop has 4K screen, but often use with HD external monitor; restarting with a different config can result it FileZilla almost entirely off the right-hand side of the screen).

We are a web agency that uses Filezilla for FTP purposes. We have many clients and around 50 FTP accounts in the Site Manager. The problem is that the Manager List is not practical for choosing a Site which is on the 40th position for example in the list. We have to keep clicking on the down arrow in the list and wait till we arrive to the 40th position. My suggestion is to have a scroll bar in the list which will make it more quicker to go down rather than clicking on the arrow and keep waiting.

When use scroll in LocalSite file & folder, it show the bottom of LocalSite file & folder.

I run Linux Mint 17.3 Cinnamon 64 bit. This error occurred on February 23, 2018 and I've been running through possible solutions thus far. Before Feb. 23, I've been using a Mac to connect to the same server without any problems. The server information is (areas with <* *> are sensitive areas and are ommitted):

I'm having trouble logging into the FTP server. I've used the only password I use for most things and it isn't working. I was wondering if it's possible to recover it? I have the host and username if that is needed. I've already tried a way that I thought would work... exporting Site Manager entries. It only shows my last attempt password and not the actual correct one. Is there anything I can do? Please and thank you.

When files are moved from folder-to-folder on a connected server, the cursor icon shows the Windows traditional "Copy" cursor. This is very deceiving because it actually NOT COPYING the file, its MOVING it. I have accidentally broken a number of websites because I thought I was copying a file, when I was actually moving it. The cursor types should be synchronized with Windows standards, which traditionally show a "+" cursor for copy, and an arrowed cursor for moving.

Not possible to delete one shot more than 4000 files. When you have to delete more than 4000 files, Filezilla will stop between 3000 and 4000. To erase more, you need to wait or disconnect and wait the synchronisation. It is painful when you have 10000 or more files to erase (storage of security ipcam images for instance). Thanks for helping here as it is time consuming.

When connecting with a server with e.g. a homebrewn or invalid certificate, the info dialogue displayed is too big even on a 1080p screen if increased font size is selected. The "OK" and "Cancel" buttons cannot be read.

This could be solved by embedding the group boxes into a scrollable widget.

These settings are not actually that big. I personally find the behaviour of the dialogue box quite annoying. I can imagine how annoying it must be for someone who has to use even bigger fonts. By the way: The same issue might occur in other large info boxes like the one in Menu Help->About.

Filezilla doesn't browse to that folder. It says:

Directory 'I:\_PHPStorm_\DIG.MX\con.dig.mx' could not be created (error 267: el nombre del directorio no es válido.)

Problem with an OVH Cloud 3 VPS loaded with Debian 9. Problem also with Debian 9 on my PC. Although the password is good, the connection is refused with a network error.

At home I use a desktop computer for development, but when traveling I use a laptop. As my site list changes, I want to export from Filezilla on my desktop and then import on my laptop, replacing all of the existing sites. However, import ends up duplicating any sites that already exist on the laptop so I have to laboriously delete every site manually in the Site Manager before importing.

My request is to add a checkbox in the Import dialog that indicates that all of the existing sites are to be replaced by the sites in Filezilla.xml.

The checkbox Conditions are case sensitive is enabled, when the Edit filters configuration window is opened and no filter is selected, although the checkbox is filter specific like the checkboxes below the title Filter applies to: right under it.

This can create some confusion, as it can be assumed that the checkbox is universal for all filters, especially because the two checkboxes below are enabled when a filter is selected, highlighting the otherness of the first-mentioned checkbox.

It's slightly irritating that the interface launches on each logon. How about a pref to disable this?

I am a new user and have 3.31.0 installed. I have uploaded a revised page to a recently converted web site to HTTPS/SSL and am receiving an error message that TLSv1 is enabled in my uploaded data. How can this be changed to TLSv2 or disabled?

The settings page gives users the option of whether to check for updates, but not whether they want those updates automatically downloaded or where to save the file. The user should have the option to select either the download path or whether to download updates at all.

It's frustrating when the Downloads folder gets polluted with files from an assortment of programs with no sense of organization, and you have to go through and sort them out one by one just to be able to find anything. Having Downloads as the default path makes sense, but users should have some say in what gets put into that folder.

If you are using an asterisk ("*") wildcard in any query (i.e. contains) except the regex query in the search remote files dialog, there will be no results.

As a workaround, a regular expression can be used, which is working as expected.

The update never gets placed in the Temp directory for the update. It's been doing this for a month now, below is the log for the error.

Just ran into this issue. If one side supports UTF-8 characters in either the filename or directory name, and the other side does not, the transfer fails (and can never succeed.)

The main issue here is that the error message is a terribly generic "Could not start transfer".

The easiest fix for this is simply showing a better error message (Took me a while to figure it out.)

A better solution would be to use some system function to determine and invalid path characters and add them to the list of invalid characters for filtering.

In this case, as I was downloading a site backup (new client,) they had images (from god knows where) that included the width and height as 57×57 instead of 57x57 (first contains a, new to me, UTF-8 x whereas the second contains a normal x.)

Let me know if you need additional logs or anything else.

I've been using FileZilla client for a long time and i always wondered. Every time there is an update available on mac, i have to: manually close Filezilla, go to the downloads folder and move the install to the Applications folder. Is it a security issue to build this feature in? Is there a way the community can help implement this feature more easily?

The server appears to be pulling the servers SSL certificate and not the sites. This is demonstrated by the error message shown to me and the servername not matching the site name. The SSL has been issued by Let's Encrypt.

This bug applies to all version of FZ Server, even the newest one, while using Windows Explorer and Clover extension for Windows Explorer (in order to have folder tabs).

During drag&drop operation between local folder and ftp folder managed by FZ Server, FZ Server will delete file if drag&drop operation was unsuccessful (if source file is dropped on ribbon bar).

If you successfully drag file from ftp folder and drop it in local folder tab (folder window), file will be copied and source file will remain intact.

If you accidentally drag&drop source file to the Windows Explorer (in my case w/Clover) ribbon bar, FZ Server will delete file (with DELE command.)

It's better to check this soon, because today I've lost my files just by doing plain drag&drop operation. It may be not even FZ Server bug, but it's better to be sure it's Windows Explorer or Clover to blame for.

Hi there Thank you for a nice program. I very often have to update FileZilla, and then I thought you might be able to include a small feature that I'd wish could be in FileZilla. I have been using FileZilla for about 2 years. I almost only use it to download and upload large audio-files. (Mostly .wav-format). I can sort the files after "filename", "filesize" etc.. 6 different column options in total. But tt would be really really helpful if it was possible to see the length of the files. And to be able to sort/list the files after length. That would help me a lot when working with the files in FileZilla. And speed up my workflow. In Windows 10 etc. you can sort the files after length and all kinds of coloumn options. Maybe you could be so kind to add a few more to FileZilla, and to my big wish, the "length"-option.

Filezilla Pro has issues with locating the local drives and files. it only recognizes the download folder and lets you download files only there. The free Filezilla has no issues with that. Please help!

Hi Guys, I start having a weird problem uploading to webdav. It was working before but now when I upload folders it shows that it transfers/transfers is complete and not showing as failed/, but there is no folders nor files in the remote drive. At the same time if i manually make the folder on the remote drive and upload only files into it works just fine. I made a screen video to show you how it acts.

Changes made to site are instantly changed on IE, but on firefox, they don't change.

I'm using newest Zilla. They used to change under an older Zilla (about 4 updates ago) Please advise what to do.

our company reqires not to store passwords permanent. So we use interactive credential mode in FileZilla client.

The problem: The password doesn't become stored temporary for the whole session. That means, if you're using 10 parallel SFTP connections, you first have to enter the password ten times. Some seconds after the first SFTP transactions, password gets lost and for new transactions you have to enter it ten times again. That's very uncomfortable.

Can you find a solution for that?

I have a folder with the name "Chill EDM: Relax | Calm | Lowkey | Melodic | Vibes |" on my vsftpd server, however when I access my FTP using FileZilla, it shows the folder name without that ending '|' and when trying to enter it I receive a: "Response: 550 Failed to change directory. Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing".

Hey guys, thanks for the great work. Just a small one. I have a lot of FTP details that I store for different clients web hosts. So when I click on the dropdown arrow next to the Open Site Manager button, all the clients that I have, populate on the list. The problem is, if I want to scroll down to the bottom of the list, I can't use the mouse wheel to scroll quicker, I have to click on the arrow at the bottom and it scrolls really slow. Just thought it would be useful if you want to access a clients host space quickly, to be able to use the mousewheel. Thanks. Keep up the good work.

My windows laptop recently got updated to windows 10 1803 (x64).

Since then I lost the ability to drag and drop files to windows explorer.

I get the message:

"Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window."

I've tried register the extension (fzshellext_64.dll), rebooted, re-installed, installed both 32 and 64 bit versions and nothing.

If you delete a group that is assigned to users it will ask you to either assign it to a new group or delete the affected user accounts. The cancel button is in German ans says "Abbrechen" my system is in English so I would say this is a bug.

Hello, I've googled filezila not saving port numbers and note that it does not display known default ports. I'm using 3.27.0.1 under win7. I'm trying to connect via sftp using port 22. I'm able to connect when I manually type in port 22. but if I connect with the default setting without the port 22, it does not connect at all. I believe this to be an issue with the software.

I'm making mistake in drag-drop directory unexpectedly. Especially remote directory's case is getting critical. So I suggest to display confirm dialog like "Are you sure?" when drag-drop directory, we can avoid unexpected trouble... Thank you.

Unable to connect to the SFTP site. Gives a error of Failed to retrieve directory listing Reverted to version 3.27 and it works I have attached the log file FileZilla Client

After updating Win 10 Pro to version 1803 on 1 May I can no longer Drag&Drop snapshots out of FileZilla to a file on my desktop. I am using FileZilla 3.32.0. I get this message when I attempt to Drag&Drop "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn’t drop the files into an Explorer window."

I downloaded 3.32.0 to a laptop which uses an earlier version of Win 10 and the Drag&Drop function worked perfectly. I suspect a mismatch between the latest version of Win 10 and FileZilla.

En ocasiones se consultan Servidores con estructura de directorios muy parecidas o iguales. A veces se trabaja con un Servidores de Producción y Desarrollo, y por su contenido similar, se pierde noción de donde se explora. Es muy útil poder establecer preferencias distintas en algunas de las pestañas abiertas (color de fondo, fente, etc...) para una referencia visual más clara del contenido que se está consultando y editando.

Sometimes you explore Servers with very similar or identical structure of directories. Sometimes you work with Production and Development Servers, and because of its similar content, you lose track of where you are exploring. It is very useful to be able to establish different preferences in some of the open tabs (background color, font, etc ...) for a clearer visual reference of the content that is being consulted and edited.

Each time I attempt to install the latest version this is blocked by a message which says:- 'C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\filezilla.xml~' could not be removed (error 5: access is denied.) but Search fails to find this file ??

The test suite no longer passes for me with 0.12.2 on Arch Linux. Not sure what is going on here and the test log doesn't seem too helpful, but maybe you know what's wrong.

If you need any more info please tell me. Sadly it seems I don't get a core dump and I'm not sure where that's disabled

When I connect to my A-Drive account via SFTP I can't stay connected long enough to do anything. I can't open any folder that has more than a few files in it before the connection times out and resets. The connection times out after 20 seconds, and Filezilla can't open a folder and list its contents in 20 seconds if there are more than a very few files in it. Sometimes even when there are only a few files or sub-folders.

I had no trouble like this when I started using Filezilla a month or two ago, but since early this week it happens every time.

I am using the latest version of Fileailla, 3.33.0. I just updated from this site yesterday, and updating makes no difference.

This is what the log looks like. Picture the same entries repeating over and over, and that's what I get when I keep trying:

When I try to select multiple items in file list by drawing selection rectangle using mouse, the mouse cursor 'teleports' to corner of the monitor on specific condition. (bottom-right or top-right of virtual screen)

I did not check the Linux version of the Filezilla Client has same behavior. (I'm using CentOS 7, but they does not provide most up-to-date version)

• Reproduce procedure (100% reproducible)

1. Run Filezilla Client
2. Make sure you have horizontal scrollbar on the listview by resizing window and scrollbar should not reach at right end. (Just you can place scrollbar on left end)
3. Click (and hold) empty place of listview to draw a selection rectangle.
4. Move the cursor.
5. The mouse cursor teleport to bottom-right of monitor. (or top right)

Since updating to 3.32.0, SFTP shows files and folders duplicated by 4 times. Our server is running on Linux.

I am attempting to access coton.champlain.edu and have verified my login credentials. I have followed all of the instructions for connecting to the site but I receive an error each time I am trying to connect. The errior I receive is: Waiting to retry... Hi! I have noticed a bug: I cannot Drag & Drop from a folder on a remote site in the client, to the desktop on my computer, or a folder in Explorer. I can do the reverse though and drop & drag to the remote site. The drag & drop also works perfectly both ways IN the client, between the local site field and the remote site field.

When the error occurs, the client also creates a folder with a "random" name: e.g. fz3-15266500045150, instead of the actual file that is to be transfered. I have attached such folder, the error message, the client version info and a log file.

This error does not depend on a certain site, folder or file. I have tested a couple of sites and files.

In settings, there are options to set default double-click options when browsing directories, but when downloading from the search window, settings must be confirmed each time as to whether or not to keep the directory structure intact, download now/later, etc. I would like to be able to set my preferred actions for downloading from a search as defaults so that I can simply double-click a file from search results instead of going through these extra steps every time. Also, if I could have an option with this to automatically create a "downloads" folder in the current folder of my local directory, that would be more beneficial to me than the name of the remote directory. I.e., I regularly go on and download reports from directories called 2017 and 2018, and I do want them kept in separate folders from the current files I'm creating using the old data, but I would prefer they be together in a single folder instead of their respective separate folders. So, for example, if I am working in a May 2018 folder, and need to download two files on a single project that happen to be from separate years, I would like to highlight the two files, hit Enter, and have the program automatically create a "downloads" folder in my May 2018 folder and push both the 2017 and 2018 file into it.

Amazon S3 integration is great. However, there is a huge limitation. Whenever, I upload new files through FileZilla, they do not get the appropriate permissions of the containing folder.

What's worse when I try to mass apply the permissions to a selected group of files, the interface only applies permissions to a single file.

The only workaround is a 2-step process of upload using FileZilla and then reapplying the permissions on the folder level of Amazon S3 bucket using the AWS management console.

Possible solutions would be to 1.) iterate through the selection applying the permissions to every file in the selection. OR 2.) allow the applying of permissions on the folder level (currently the interface just shows a dialog as though it were connected to a Linux server, so there is no way to set permission on a folder within Amazon S3 using FileZilla 3.) automatically apply the appropriate permissions of the Amazon S3 folder immediately after the initial upload

I'm using FileZilla version 3.33.0, on macOS High Sierra on an iMac, 21", Mid 2011. To use the "at" (@) key on my Spanish ISO keyboard I must pres Alt + 2 (both keys together). This works in all applications and screens o the system, but it's not working in the top most fields of Filezilla , where you enter Host, Username, Password and Port for Quickconnect. It seems to be using some other keyboard layout, just for that part. Specifically for the "@" character it shows nothing. If I use the keyboard on other places of Filezilla client (comments, etc.) the keys seems to be ok. This didn't happen with the previous version.

Currently I am using Filezilla to change access rights to directories and files in the server. But when I have to change the owning user and group of the file, I am bound to use Putty. I think it would be a very good and comfortable feature if you allowed changing owning user and group of the file/directory in the File permissions/attributes window.
