The ability to move files either remote or local. I'm requesting to be able to drag-n-drop files on either the remote or local side that will move them to the folder that is highlighted. Currently, I dont even have the option to move files at all.

(I posted this in the public FZ forum some time ago, but there was no reply, so maybe this is a better location).

Would it be posible to store users and settings for FileZilla Server in an XML format as well?

I would like to run FileZilla server as a service on my web server. But because the users are stored in the registry (hkey local user) it means that it does not run properly unless I am logged in.

If the settings were not stored in the registry this problem would not occur.

Also an XML file would make it very easy to create a web-based configuration console to manage the server.

The ability to browse to the remote and local directories in the site manager would be really helpful. Some of my local default FTP folders are deeply nested and typing them in manually takes a long time.

Otherwise this is an awesome application!!

Can FileZilla have an option to pause a several second when message like "Too many user in this server" receive? It is because when I process the queue, FilleZilla repeatly send the login request to the server (10 times per second!!!) when this message appear. Some FTP sites will block my IP to login again if I try to login too many in a few second. However, this feature is present if I connect the site by site manager!!!! (strange) But I cannot always sit front of the PC and wait the site manager to connect the server and press down the button to process the queue.

The second request it that the file in the queue can clear by press some button? I find it the queue is present when I execute Fillzilla again. I know this is the feature to remenber the queue file. But how about I no longer need to transfer such file any more? It seems need to selected the queue files and right click to remove the queue files. If there is a few files, it is not a problem. How about several hundreds files? I need to selected all file for a few second and press too many page down button......and no select all function for me to delete the hold queue..... also can me to delete the file from the specific host in the queue?

For me its rather important to be able to save the server screen text to a text file. Actually there should also be an option where it is automatically appended to a log file at the same time it is being written to the screen.

Currently, there seems to be no way to even copy the screen to the clipboard other than "print screen" which is too limited.

BTW... I'm very impressed with both the server and client.

I understand that selecting Overwrite and using the checkbox to always preform the action, but what if I only want to apply it to what's currently in my queue?

A simple option to dump the contents of your queue would be nice.

I would like better control of the grouping of users, for instance I would like to create a group with all its attribs and just drag-n-drop users in to it, making the gropus attributes apply to those users.

And the account GUI should get easier, its not very straight forward when compared to other FTP servers.

In short I would like more control over the user accounts.

A tool to compare filenames of local and remote folder, selecting the diferences.

The Proxy close the connection after 10 seconds. But Filezilla send a keep alive command after min 15 seconds. If it possible to reduce the minimal time to 5 seconds? An other solution, can be to disconnect by proxy, and display the remote site window after the disconnection. Then the user change the ditrectory or transfer a file, filezilla reconnect to the remote server. Sorry for my awful english.

Hi, I'd suggest an improvement to Filezilla Server's user management. It would be nice to have separated:

Authentication (which is a general matter):

• Integrated with: local machine accounts/LDAP or

Active Directory - Database

Authorization (which is specific of the application):

• Stored into Filezilla server or database, with infos like:

quota, virtual dir etc..

I think an FTP URL Fetcher would be in it's place, "feeling" if you copy a FTP URL into the copyboard, it will bring up a questionbox saying "Connect to url blabla? yes/no"

When uploading from Windows to Unix, can the date/time on the Windows system be reset to the one assigned on the Unix system? This would greatly facilitate web site synchronization.

I suggest add language selection to main menu. If a user selected a language that he does not know by mistake, It will be hard for him to go back to the right language. I like FileZilla very much. Wish it get better and better:)

Would it be possible to total up the file sizes for a selection (possibly recursively if dirs are included in the selection) and display the total as a right-click option?

i found out that FileZilla_Server_0_8_2 do not support mdelete or dir with wildcard for example:

dir un*.txt <will not work> mdelete un*.txt <will not work>

Ability to accept a different address from the PORT command, thus enabling the server to send files to a host other than the person logged in.

Like Webdrive or Internet Neighborhood. Another option is to immitate Sendto FTP, but according to the author, windows can only handle 10 or so files through sendto at one time.

I was wondering if there was any way to connect to an IBM MVS OS mainframe with Filezilla. In IPSwitch's WS_FTP, you have the option to choose operating system.

The current version doesn't appear to work because it auto-adds the forward slashes in the directory name. The mainframe doesn't like that. Any information you could provide would be helpful.

For those of us who upload files to an FTP server for backup purposes, it is crucial that the files' date & time be preserved. As it works now, the date/time is changed to the present time upon upload. The option of preserving date/time for downloads does not seem to affect this.

At University of Sussex we would like to use FileZilla to give access to secure FTP from all our open-access PCs running Windows 2000.

The students use mandatory profiles and the program will be run from a NetWare server.

My problem is that we add a number of sites to the FTP client, each site prompting for both username and password.

I have been unable to get FileZilla to save the sites in sitemanager unless a username is added - then, of course, all the users are presented with the same username.

Is there anyway of using a wildcard to force FileZilla to prompt for username whether using the SiteManager or the button on the Toolbar?

Also, could you add Tooltips to the Shortcut Bar??

The ability to force the case on files being transferred in either direction to be either all lower or all upper case, or left alone.

Extremely useful when dealing with files generated by others that are in all sorts of weird cases, that shoule be one way or the other.

The only thing which is making me use BFTP-Client nstead of FileZilla is the possibility of the BFTP-Client to monitor local files an load them up in the second they are changed.

This is great when you work on several files and change and save them alot...the client works in the background like I would work on the files directly on the server...and I can focus on programming and testing.

While downloading .avi files from a fellow machine, I sometimes get corrupted downloads. In that case I have to individually select each file and tell it to overwrite.

As the program can check the time stamps and knows the size of the file, I would find it useful if it would be able to compare the two files for a size difference and than use that for the basis of whether or not to make another attempt.This way I could just download the directory again.

This is on a campus network. The files may end up corrupted due to disk space usage and the programs used to free up some space.

I've been trialing FileZilla Server, and have found it to be very fast and stable so far. I have noticed a few things missing, most of which have already been pointed out (users changing passwords, speed throttling, etc.), but I do feel it worthwhile to ask that the server gives a valid responce to the HELP command. When looking at an FTP server for the first time, this is one of the things a site admin (or indeed an experienced user) goes for, to see which commands are accepted, and, of those, which are implemented. Try the command 'quote HELP' from a commandline FTP client to some different servers to see what I mean.

Hi, i use FileZilla server in several computers and I have to also include DirectUpdate for re-setting of my dynamic IP into the dyndns.org Dynamic DNS service, it would be nice to have that functionality on FileZilla Server.

IPv6 support in FileZilla would rock my world.

Right now the double-click action for clicking on a file is upload/download. I think it would be nice to be able to set what the double-click action is.

You have to right-click each file individually then select View / Edit. I want to be able to have multiple files selected and then right click and select View / Edit to View / Edit multiple files.

Bulletproof has excellent Ratio support. It's one of the things I still miss in FileZilla.

To use when a site has a ratio, for example to download 1MB I first need to upload 1MB.

How it works: I have a number of files selected to up and download. The top of the list holds the download queue, the bottom of the list the upload queue. Now when I try to download a file but don't have enough credits, it will upload a file and try again.

Why does Filezilla expand a folder as soon as I select it to download?

I'd really like it when it would just place a folder in the queue, and when it would try to download it, then it would get the list of all files inside and upload or download them.

Of course the files in this folder should then be placed at the TOP of the queue, not on the bottom like Bulletproof does. :-)

A preference of "Files first" or "Folders first" for when there are more subfolders in this folder would also be very nice then. :-)

Currently one can copy all/part of the local URL by selecting, right-clicking and selecting copy. It would be a little quicker to also be able to use Ctrl-C (on windows). I use this to syncronize the live server's directory with my local directory.

It would we great to have the option to remember the sort options in both local and remote directories. I constantly upload/download "latest" files and have to resort by date (descending).

Also, it appears that after the initial connection, FileZilla re-connects during the first transfer. Can this reconnection be eliminated?

The log-reports are often needed for documentations. Developers of webprojects and webmasters like me use these to protocol their work to clients and to have a chronical overview. At the moment I have to divide manually the long reports into client referenced parts. Therefore I have to search, copy and paste a lot. My requests are:

1. Is it possible to implement a divider at the top of every

login? Could be a simple lign with signs like "*".

2. The best way would be the choice in the program

Please add the current Transfer Type (Auto/Binary/ASCII) as one of the panes in the status bar. I have often made a mistake uploading or downloading a file with an unusual extention (or none at all) when the current transfer type is set incorrectly. It would be good to get a quick visual reminder of the current setting in the status bar.

I have never seen an FTP program that can do this before but if you could have yours auto detect zend encoded php files and maybe a checkbox in options to turn this feature on or off when the program comes to a file that is php extention it will read the first few bytes and decide whether or not it's zend encoded and then automatically upload it in binary format instead of ascii (like the rest of the non-encoded php files).

Are there any plans to enable the user to have filezilla to force lowercase filenames when transfering to a server? This feature is necessary for me.

It would be nice if the passive switch were moved from the settings menu to individual servers in the site manager list. Some servers require an active connection and some require a passive connection.

a simple bookmark for the folders on the remote site!

instead of navigating to /usr/local/stupid/app/lib/config each time I connect I should have a small drop down with the bookmarks.

Bonus: Options so the bookmarks can receive a meaninfull title to be displayed or display the whole ugly path. In title mode mouse over should give the full URL as tooltip

For all users which try to use Filezilla Server behind a Firewall it would be a great improvement if it would be possible to use a URL instead of a IP in the customized passive settings.

My server is behind a firewall which routes all needed ports directly through to my machine. But clients behind firewalls can't connect to me, because standard passive mode is impossible. With customized passive mode settings everything works great, but my network is connected via dialup. So, my external IP changes relatively often. Changing the settings everytime is very annoying.

Isn't it possible to add an option which resolves a dns everytime passive mode is initiaed, or checks the correct IP every x minutes, etc.

I'm sure, that this wouldn't be a great afford to implement and would be very useful for a lot of people.

Provide a "Duplicate Site" in the site manager window, along with Delete and New Folder. It would avoid to duplicate all datas when having many sites on same server for example/

It is so simple that there is no doc. Just providing a doc that says it would avoid loosing much time looking for it.

I think that a usefull feature will be the possibility for the user to send the program in a sistem tray (such as the windows of download of GhetRight). For long download (such as iso and so on), this command will be really usefull because have the window of FileZilla only reduced for many hour is not so functional (sorry for english, but I'm a italian boy..)

I frequently set a ftp connection going, minimise the client, and continue elsewhere. It also frequently happens that while connecting to a BUSY site (try Red Hat after a new release ;-) the connection is established... and timed out!

I think a good feature will be to let FileZilla to connect to two FTP servers and so be able to move files from one server to another.

This is usefull when you have to admin different UNIX machine and copy files around after you have installed the reference machine.

Your software is really good, but the only one thing that is not implemented and that i need is to created a scheduled task. It could be interesting to say to FilleZilla to execute a download or an upload at a specified time of the day, or someting like that. But i'm patient so i will continue to run my download myself, and i'm waiting for this feature. I hope it will come soon... thanks a lot.

it should be possible to save view Settings. In version 2.1.5, disabling "View->Quick Connect Bar" and "View->Message Log" does disable these items, but only for the current program session. Exiting and restarting the app resets the view to defaults again which re-enables the above items.

It would be very nice if it was possible to synchronize local and distant files in order to update them.

In the next release I would like to have the ability to set the PASV option for EACH site I have listed in my Site Manager.

I am a web developer and use FileZilla as my FTP client cause its the best I have come across. However, some of the servers my clients have chosen to use are flaky when using PASV.

If I could set PASV to be on or off for each individual connection, it would save me from having to change the global setting each time I wish to connect.

Can I suggest an improvement on the user administrator of the server product.

I'd like to see something integrated with Windows authentication (either through Active Directory, Domain Authentication or Radius) so I can just assign a user to a group, and once the user connects using their password, they are allowed in if they use their network password.

As another nice-to-have, how about having the users home directory created automatically once they log in.. that would save me an awful lot of admin.

An option to exclude hidden files from upload would be most useful for ignoring such large files as Thumbs.db, the automatic index file WinXP creates for folders with graphics. Excluding system files should have other useful uses too.

Could there be a rename option in the site manager ?

it would be nice if remote and local directories could be "locked" to each other, so that changing the local directory also results in a directory change on the remote site

I think there needs to be an options for to set the FTP server to be able to limit the upload and download speed to a certain amount of KB/sec. I know i need it as my line slows down to almost a complete halt when browsing when people are downloading from my FTP server with lines that my upload can barely feed.

It would be great to play a .wav sound on a successful connect. When connecting to busy sites, it would be nice to select the site and walk away and just wait for the connect WAV. Also, after the last retry fails, it would be good to have a different WAV sound. Important: No sound on each individual failed connect attempt while in the retry sequence. That would be very annoying.

Of course, the sound should be browsable.

The way it is now, when I add a tree (folder) to the queue, it explodes the tree (reads all files and folders, and adds them all individually to the tree) the moment it's dropped in the queue.

Could you please make the queue store just the folder, and explode it only when I press the 'Process the queue' button?

This way I wouldn't have to wait for it to scan thru the folders on the remote ftp site when I add a folder to the download queue, for example (on the local machine this isn't much of a problem, since scanning folders locally is a lot faster).

hi, first off would like to say excellent work on this great program, so far it is the only ftp client i have used that doesnt constantly crash. The miles of code in this are impressive!

I do have a few small requests i'd like to add for maybe future versions (tried to find the code to fix myself and failed...newbie c++ user)

1. Have an option that lets you choose double click on

file action (ie: transfer, execute, or view file)

2. Option to switch/position Transfer, Dir, and Status

window placement (ie: status at bottom, files/dirs at top, qeue in the middle etc)

3. On successful connection auto fill-in the quick

connect with current server values (maybe only if quick connect fields are empty)

4. Have the list on the left in the options dialog full

length and place the buttons at the bottom, in horizontal position, relative to right frame (this is just personal preference and not important)

5. Transfer and connection settings should all be per

connection

6. Tooltips on the toolbar buttons?, in case statusbar is

hidden...

7. Scheduled uploads and downloads would be a great

addition! :)

I have moved to using Filezilla from FlashFXP - which has the option to edit files directly from the server. It downloads the file to a temporary windows directory and launches it in an internal text editor. You edit, save changes - and it brings up a dialog to upload it again.

This is one feature I miss (and still use filezilla for) as it saves time and hassle when debugging php for example.

I've been running the server for a month now, easy, simple, reliable... but not secure.

Are there any plans to integrate OpenSSH or OpenSSL with the server to take a bit of advantage of the already secure capable client (and other SFTP and SCP clients out there)

I am using WinXP at home and it creates a file called Thumbs.db in any folder that I browse with Windows Explorer where the view is set to Thumbnails. I would like to request that FileZilla have an option to automatically exclude certain files either by full name, eg. Thumbs.db or by type, eg. *.db.

Love using FileZilla, have been recommending it to many people.

Bei copy asccii files from Windows to UNIX you have special escape sequences, example ^{M for "Enter", and you can't use this files on UNIX without unix2dos command. Can you implement this command in you client? I hope you undestand my terrible english...}

I think is useful to preserve file time/date on uploading on both standard 'FTP' and 'FTP over SSH' [SFTP].

I would like to see on the fly threads changing. For example, i can pick how many threads should be opened for download/upload on the fly instead of going to settings. Something like LeechFTP would be nice :) keep up the good work

I've got a small home network and on my gateway filezilla server running (just the server no interface). To add users to the server I log in via network from my working mashine: Here are my suggestions:

1)

If I add a User from remote and try to share a folder of my server the browseable list only shows my local drives wich are not accesable from the internet. Instead it should show the drive structure of my server

2)

An upload and download progress bar would be usefull to monitor server activity easily (maybe for each user separate)

3)

A free disk space would be nice to monitor the free disk space on the remote mashine

4)

It would be nice if the Server log history (only the one which is at the moment shown in the interface) would be stored in the server so that after a reconnect (at least the last 100 lines) could be seen

5)

Change the structure of the Log file (as option?)

So that only One Line Per Login one per attemp and one each file transfair is loged

6)

Maybe add a logoff message and a server full message (like the welcome one) to the settings

1) I have to go through a bunch of sites and update passwords. 2) I want to go through a bunch of sites and modify either the remote or local default path. etc....

That way we wouldn't have to "Save and Exit" and

then return to the site manager for each site we need to edit.

doubleclicking the label "Local Site" should bring up a browse window to locate a folder quicker, as the normal treeview/address is too small, especially because of the vertical layout and the remote view. also, "Desktop" should be one of the options

Sometimes FileZilla will list properly, other times it doesn't.

For example, using the DIR command at the DCL, I can see that there are 50+ files in the directory. When I browse to the same directory with FileZilla, only one file is displayed.

Allow the user to specify the PuTTY session to use to retrieve SFTP information. Otherwise, provide the ability to specify the private key, and password to use by site.

I would like to have the ability to create aliases for directories. For example, the C:\FTPROOT\TEMP directory is displayed to the end user as "Upload" (as opposed to "TEMP") when they do a directory listing.

Would it be possible to use the proxy settings that are set through the Control Panel? i.e. the setting in Control Panel >> Internet Options >> Connections >> LAN Settings

How about showing hidden files, for example .htaccess on apache servers?

That way you should be able to edit these special files without using telnet.

The software is amazing but it could be interesting to be connected to multiple FTP servers in the same instance (as in CuteFTP Pro) using tabs to separate the connections.

I am often browsing mutiple FTP server at the same time when working on my web projects, that is why it misses me.

I wait on possibility the assignments "User" of several "dirs".

File Transfer Settings

In the option of multiple connections add a check box "for the same server".

Ex: when downloading from 2 diferent servers and a setting of 2 max connections per server i can download 4 files at same time. if the server it´s diferent filezilla will use the max number of connections again.

And make a diference between Uploads and Downloads.. ;) .
