#1749 new Feature request

convert filename to upper or lower case before transfer

Description

The ability to force the case on files being
transferred in either direction to be either all lower
or all upper case, or left alone.

Extremely useful when dealing with files generated by
others that are in all sorts of weird cases, that
shoule be one way or the other.

Thanks

I also agree that this feature should be added!

This should not just work on files alone, but optionally on directories as well.

Maybe make this a per server setting and not (only) a global setting. -- Idea taken from "[ 813516 ] AutoRename Feature".

Hi tcosmas,

From the description, I understood the feature as follows :

For every file in the queue, there should be an option of changing the case of the name of files.

I don't think this should only be available in the queue. As far as I understand the request, filename case should be converted automatically, based on global or per-server settings. This means that adding a file to the queue already applies the configured filename transformation.

Summary: Force file case (upper or lower)convert filename to upper or lower case before transfer

If this is ever implemented it would be really nice if the user could convert only the extension of the file and not the name part. The reason we (where I work) would want this is that we need to pass to a Linux server the file names in a list along with uploading the files. Each name in the list is the books name and page number in a standardize format with lower “.jpg” added to the end. But through human error, and possibly the use of more than one image manipulation program, our jpegs are sometimes named “NamePage.jpg” and sometimes named “NamePage.JPG” (Note: only the jpg is randomly changing case). If FZ would just drop all extensions to lower during the upload then we would be in great shape.

I'd like to use FileZilla, but inability to force LOWER CASE for both file names and directories makes it an unusable product. IPswitch allows this.
