#12949 | bug with screen reader | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Hello. I'm having a problem since some versions of Filezilla FTP with screen reader, because I'm visually impaired. We use the "tab" key to navigate between filezilla options such as host, user, password, port etc etc. When we arrive at the field, which is a read-only text field where the server logs are (messages of files transferred successfully, connections made or that an error occurred), we could no longer exit this field by pressing tab or shift+tab. I would like you to please look into whether there is any way to fix this as we use this FTP client a lot and it is the best ever. The screen reader I'm using is Open-source, available at https://github.com/nvaccess/nvda |

#12970 | Server and File Zilla Upgrade | closed | Other | high | FileZilla Server
Description |
Previously, we had Version 0.9.41 beta installed on Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise OS. We are updating our Server to 2019 and have installed the 1.7.2 version of Filezilla. Some systems connecting to our server is having problems with commands. Previously, the system would allow you to setup the ability to Read/Write/Delete/Append for Files and also Create/Delete/List/+Subdirs for Directories. It seems as though they are allowed to create a new directory, and copy a file to it, but when it tries to access a file inside the new directory, it is giving permission error. The same scripts were running on the previous version, but seem to fail on the new version. Please help, as we must update our PROD server by Oct of 2023. We are currently having issues on a test server. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] 220-FileZilla Server 1.7.2 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] 220-Please visit https://filezilla-project.org/ 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] 220 Hello and Wecome to Thermo Fisher EDI System for ETO 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] USER ROCSAPFTP 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] 331 Please, specify the password. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.412Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11] PASS 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 230 Login successful. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] SYST 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 215 UNIX emulated by FileZilla. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] RNFR Inbound 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 350 Directory exists, ready for destination name. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] RNTO Intemp 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 550 Permission denied 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] MKD Inbound 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 257 "/Inbound" created successfully. 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] CWD /Intemp 2023-08-23T19:15:00.459Z << [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] 250 CWD command successful 2023-08-23T19:15:00.475Z >> [FTP Session 22892 10.0.248.11 ROCSAPFTP] EPSV

Description |
When connecting to an Azure SFTP site, the file size is displayed wrong, showing only 28 bytes. However, in the column for owner/group, there's a 0 (a space) followed by what the true file size is. If you proceed to download the file, the percent progress bar goes immediately to 100%, but it will sit there and download the full file size, shown in the wrong column. I tried this on 2 different computers, a laptop running windows 10, and on a server running Server 2019. Hopefully, the image below will help describe what I see. Thank you! |

#13051 | The tab key will not move away from the log | closed | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
When navigating the main window of the client with tab and shift+tab, navigation seems to get stuck in the log. In other words, when keyboard focus is on the log, nothing happens when I press tab or shift+tab. I review the log often and I use a screen reader, so being able to use this kind of navigation is critical, and many screen reader users don't use a mouse at all. I discovered it is still possible to use the F6 key to move away from the log, which is a good workaround but not one that will be obvious to many. I do not know if this occurs on non-Windows operating systems but I did verify it on two Windows 10 machines. Marking high priority because even if it affects a small number of people, not being able to exit the log is arguably a blocker to being able to successfully use the client, and on the development side it seems like a small regression. |

#13091 | FZ 3.67.0 unable to open/use NTFS junction reparse points on Windows client | new | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client
Description |
Previous version(s) worked fine for years, so something has changed in the latest rev. to break the parsing of NTFS junction points. I have a media server (Plex)/storage mule with the following layout, where F: is a physical disk with a directory (HDMEDIA4) on it. F:\<other directories> are linked to that same F:\ root so they all fall under the same tree even though they're other physical drives -- F:\HDMEDIA actually points to L:\HDMEDIA on another physical disk, but NTFS junction reparse points make it all look like it's sitting under F:\. They're effectively symbolic links, except for directories only:
01/20/2020 12:47 PM <JUNCTION> HDMedia [L:\HDMedia] 12/01/2015 10:49 AM <JUNCTION> HDMedia2 [W:\HDMedia2] 12/01/2015 07:19 PM <JUNCTION> HDMedia3 [W:\HDMedia3] 04/02/2024 12:18 PM <DIR> HDMedia4 11/01/2016 11:32 AM <JUNCTION> HDMedia5 [V:\HDMedia5] 10/23/2022 05:31 PM <JUNCTION> HDMedia6 [N:\HDMEDIA6] 12/09/2017 10:56 PM <JUNCTION> Media [U:\Media] 11/05/2020 04:39 PM <JUNCTION> MusicVideo [L:\MusicVideo] With the latest FileZilla client 3.67.0, it won't let me enter any of those junction paths, either by the GUI (clicking) or typing it into the Local site: box above the local directory tree. On the FZ client in question, F: is a mapped network drive (mapped to F$ on the storage mule box), so for example, F:\HDMEDIA6 logically looks like this: (local FZ client F:) --> mapped to \\<IPaddr>\F$ on LAN client --> F:\HDMEDIA6 reparse point/junction to N:\HDMEDIA6 on storage mule box Again, this has worked consistently for a long, long time (yearssss). This has broken pretty much the entirety of using FZ to download stuff into the right paths. :/ Help? FileZilla Client Version: 3.67.0 Build information:

Enter the hostname or IP in Public IP or hostname: (leave it empty to use the local IP). Click OK. Open the configuration window (same as above) and it is now unset, do any changes and click okay. #7 | Wały napędowe i krzyżaki | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Basically, the problem is that FileZilla just doesn't seem to handle a queue of files to download that well. If I have a queue of files that I can order and the client is reconnecting to continue downloading after timing out, I want it to finish the file at the top of the queue before moving onto the next one - not throw the file to the bottom of the queue. Additionally, in the latest version (1.4?) FileZilla tends to stall on a timeout detected somewhere along the way through the queue. Rather than continue downloading. 1.0 is much more reliable in this regard and will handle a timeout much better. If this is unclear or you want more details, let me know :) |

#15 | Large directory download failure | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Hi, I noticed a strange bug using FileZilla 1.4 on windows 2000 SP2: FileZilla works well for downloading single files or simple directories. However, when attempting to download complex directories(i.e. including many subdirectories), it might fail. This doesn't seem to happen randomly (meaning downloading a directory producing such an error will always produce the error). This bug seems not directly linked to directory complexity. But downloading very large directory structures will usually result in a failure. An example: Hereafter I attempted to download following directory structure (coming from ls -alR under linux): .: total 12 drwxr-xr-x 3 a a 4096 sep 8 17:11 . drwxr-xr-x 3 a a 4096 sep 8 17:11 .. drwxr-xr-x 4 a a 4096 sep 8 17:10 Ada ./Ada: total 16 drwxr-xr-x 4 a a 4096 sep 8 17:10 . drwxr-xr-x 3 a a 4096 sep 8 17:11 .. drwxr-xr-x 2 a a 4096 sep 8 16:33 Booch components drwxr-xr-x 2 a a 4096 sep 8 16:32 winnt ./Ada/Booch components: total 376 drwxr-xr-x 2 a a 4096 sep 8 16:33 . drwxr-xr-x 4 a a 4096 sep 8 17:10 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 8398 sep 8 16:33 ACL.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 321747 sep 8 16:32 bc-20010513.zip -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 28720 sep 8 16:33 bc-html-20010513.zip -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 705 sep 8 16:33 bc-README.txt ./Ada/winnt: total 27920 drwxr-xr-x 2 a a 4096 sep 8 16:32 . drwxr-xr-x 4 a a 4096 sep 8 17:10 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 3103849 sep 8 16:32 adagide-6.26.exe -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 23500591 sep 8 16:32 gnat-3.13p-nt.exe -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 1930958 sep 8 16:32 gnatcom-1.3p.exe -rw-r--r-- 1 a a 295 sep 8 16:32 README It resulted in a failure, see session report (hereafter point 1.). #17 | Crash while uploading | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I am using version 1.4 in English Win2000. While I am uploading 12 files with Chinese and English naming. It is about 4-5MB each and total 51MB to a Linux Redhat 6.2 ftp server, it crash and exit the program after finished uploading 1 or 2 files. I reopen the program and upload again, it crash again. |

#18 | Unable to reset overwrite settings | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
There is currently no way to change the settings for how to handle matching filenames. You can choose to overwrite, overwrite if newer, skip, etc. on a file-by- file basis or make a choice and apply it to all files. However, once the choice is applied to all files, there is no further way to reset the choice. This can create difficulties, particularly where the server and client are out of sync on the clocks, which makes overwrite if newer problematic. |

Description |
I've tried uploading, from within FileZilla, the FZ1.5 Setup EXE to two servers and it gets to 100% and finishes with timeout. This has happened consistently on both servers about 2 tries each. I loaded up 1.4 and uploaded the same EXE and it worked fine. |

#25 | Transmission stalls in the middle | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I posted in the forum but seems no replies. It happened when I was downloading a one-level dir with some (about 40) pictures. The transmission simply stalled in the middle of a file. More accurately, the stalled files are put to the end of the queue with "too many retries". The error message in message log window is "timeout". I repeated this operation several times. Sometimes it is OK while sometimes it stalled again. I am running it on a Win2000 professional. Installed without admin previledge. The server is Serv-U ftpd 3.0 with no timeout settings. Fan |

#31 | sort by date error | closed | Bug report | normal | Unknown
Description |
If you sort the remote file list by date ascending (i.e., the most recent file is at the top - two clicks on the "Date" column header), and you have various files with the same date, but different timestamps, then the sort order is wrong: the files created later in that same day are placed down, while they should be at the top of the list! I rephrase: in the situation I described, the days are sorted fine, but the times are inverted. I hope you got the point. The problem does not occur in the local file list, neither does when the lists are sorted with the most recent file at the bottom. PS: I'm amazed by your fast response to my feature requests... Great! |

Description |
Version 1.6 This is not really a bug but could be a security issue. When I extract a download queue it is put into a text file to reconnect again. The password is placed in the file as a plain text. A simple encoding algorithm could be use so it is not so easy to get someones password. |

Description |
I try FileZilla 1.6. Seem very interesting. It work well when I test it with "www.suse.de" I can see the directories and files on their site. But when I try on our NT 4 server, the connection is OK, but I don't see the list of files and directories! I only see the ".." entry. No other elements ! If I try simply in a DOS box, with the FTP client of NT4, it work. I can see the list of files with the "ls" command. I think the Telnet/FTP server on the NT4 server is Fictional Daemon v4.1 (http://www.fictional.net) How can I solde this problem ? I will also go on the Fictional Daemon web site to see if this problem is know... Thanks a lot Didier |

Description |
When I start up FileZilla, it switches the local directory in the bottom window to the correct directory. But the directory tree in the top is still at 'my computer' - so when I try to upload a file, it just does nothing. Literally. So what I do is click in the text folder listing (like c:\ftpuploads\) and then press the ENTER key, and it reloads both the upper and the lower, and then the file upload works correctly. |

I add a New folder and a site within it - exit the Site manager - when I go back into the Site manager, the folder (and the site within) are both gone! Also would it be possible to implement drag-n-drop within the site manager so that you can move existing sites into folders, etc. Lex |

In fact the problem is with the 1st text box you click on after pressing the New site button. If you then click on another text box the cursor shows fine (and all subsequent boxes until you create another new site). BTW - thanks for fixing the folder problem. v1.7a, Windows 95B, 128Mb RAM, 8Gb HD Lex |

#59 | Transfering filenames w/ spaces | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I am trying to transfer files from a windows 2k pro platform to a unix system running proftp v1.2.1. The files that I am transfering contain spaces. The application does not seem to recognize this and does not quote or escape the spaces when the remote host (unix) assumes that a space is a inter-file seperator. Ie. the file "this is a test" would look to unix as four files "this" "is" "a" "test". as a space is considered part of the IFS. To get around this the client needs to do some custome parsing if it finds the remote site is a unix host. (ie, escaping the spaces, or converting them (user definable?)). |

Several of the source files include stdafx.h, unfortunately how the file is referenced is inconsistent and may cause build problems. The project files in the repository do no cause the base source directory to be searched as an include directory. Files in the misc directory have statements that say "#include <stdafx.h>" or "#include "stdafx.h"". Either the project file should be changed to search the base source directory for include files, or the refernce should always be written as "#include "../stdafx.h". |

When I have gotten disconnected from a server (because of a timeout or any other reason) and then tell FileZilla to upload a file it tells me that I got disconnected, but nevertheless it puts the file into the Queue with the status "Transferring". From this moment on uploading and downloading does not work at all, because the file I chose to upload is the top task of the queue, you can't delete it from the queue or reset its status, and it never starts (or even finishes) to upload. The only solution then is to restart FileZilla, the file remains in the queue, but you can reset or delete it then |

#69 | Date/Time Sort Problem w/Remote FileList | closed | Bug report | normal | Unknown
Description |
First, let me just say that I absolutely love your program. I've used WSFTP, Laplink FTP, SmartFTP, FTP Explorer, and others that I can't remember the names of, but yours has the most useful features anyone could hope for. Unfortunately, there is a problem with date and time sorting in the remote connection window. When you choose to sort the file list in reverse chronological order by date, the time column is in ascending order. For example: I want to see the remote list of files from most recent to oldest. When I sort in reverse order by date, I expect to see the files listed most recent to oldest. Although the reverse order indeed works in the date column, the time column remains from oldest to newest, so the files don't end up being listed most recent to oldest. I tried sorting instead by the time column, but that doesn't help either. If I sort most recent to oldest time, the date shows oldest to newest. As you can see, this makes it tough to see which files might be needed to be updated onto my remote location, you know what I mean? Is there anything I can do, or is there a patch that addresses this? |

Description |
The 0.3 Beta version of the FileZilla FTP server correctly adds domain users (users whose name is of the form domainname\username) to the NT registry. It does this by making the username a subkey of the domainname key. When reading this information back, however, the code only reads the domainname and interprets this as the full username. I have fixed this (open source is wonderful) via the attached modifications to UsersDLG.h & cpp: Thanks for the great server. |

Compared with 1.7b (which works), there was no PASV command issued after STOR. It just goes straight to "data connection." That has to be the reason it's messing up.. right? I tried it real quick to upload to a proftpd server and i got the same error. I hope it's not just me. thnx |

#74 | Multiple folders download & upload | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Whe I try to download & upload (with version 1.8) a complex structure of files and directories, Filezilla presents two different problems: a) When downloading more then a folder, it sometimes seems that it just download the first one. It just happens when you put them directly on the queue. If you download a single folder with multiple folders within, it works correctly. b) When uploading, it doesn't create new folders correctly. If you have an empty folder (i.e.: without files) that has some directories, Filezilla tries to create those directories directly, without creating first the folder. The result is that no one of them is created. |

I had hoped that Queue Import and Export was a method of storing a complex download scheme for reuse - this feature is not documented in the help file as to how and why it may be used. I tried to get it to work for a single file in the queue as well as a more complex file structure. The Queue export feature appeares to be working correctly ( it creates a text file showing file transfer information ) but the import feature seems to do nothing.

#88 | Date/Time Sort Problem w/Remote FileList | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I uploaded a file tonight using both 1.7b and 1.83 versions, and experienced these problems regarding date and time: 1) Both versions report the file date as 2001, instead of 2002. 2) While version 1.7b does at least refresh the destination file window, 1.83 displays question marks. You have to manually refresh the window. I actually had to use another FTP program to verify the problem reporting dates was indeed a FileZilla problem. |

#89 | Shift-TAB is inconsistent | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
In the main window of Filezilla 1.9 final, pressing shift-tab is inconsistent. Within the Quick Connect toolbar you can get from edit field to edit field consistently. But for the Quickconnect button and the rest of the interface (local/remote directories, file listings, and the queue) does not respond to shift- tab. The shift is ignored, so you have to tab forwards always, instead of being able to shift-tab backwards. |

#90 | Deletion of empty Folders | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
Version 1.9 If the directory structure contains empty folders then the deletion of the empty folder from a higher level does not occur. Fileziller just reports that it is an empty folder. Also, a number of 'Illegal Ops' at upload have occured. Will investigate and report back. Bye Clive |

#91 | Denies existance of krb5 tickets | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
I have two machines with Filezilla installed; one runs Win2K and the other Win98. Filezilla 1.8 on the Win2K machine allows me to connect to a kerberized ftp server; Neither Filezilla 1.8.3 and 1.9 on the Win98 allows me to connect to the same kerberized ftp server. I receive the error that Authentification failed, probably because I do not have kerberos 5 tickets. But I DO have kerberos 5 tickets. I run Leash32 and get tickets before running FileZilla. |

Client: FileZilla 1.8.3 on WinXP Pro. In particular: 1) Remote site - Column FileSize - shows "???". 2) Queue - Column FileSize - shows negative number 3) Queue - shows total of "0 bytes +" |

#93 | 2 probable bugs | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
The first, when I delete something in version 1.9 final, not the new 1.9.1 version (going to test this one now), the file would remain there, a refresh problem like in the prior version, except now it deals with deleting. The second, when I try to upload a file it crashes the client, using windows 2000 pro, tried to upload a 1kb htaccess file in text format and it crashed, it's not really reproducable so I don't know the problem, so... and I am going to 1.9.1, will see if this one fixes it and the other. |

#94 | Uploaded File Dates Still Don't Refresh | closed | Bug report | normal | Unknown
Description |
Upon uploading files, the remote file list still does not refresh properly. The remote file displays ????? instead of the date. Obviously, this results in Date/Time file sorting problems. |

#95 | Remote List Refresh Prob. Part 2 | closed | Bug report | normal | Unknown
Description |
I forgot to mention that part of the original bug was indeed fixed, in that if you perform a manual refresh of the remote file list window, the dates then display, and are displayed with the correct dates. Thanks Tim! |

#96 | Another sort by date problem | closed | Bug report | normal | Other
Description |
The local and remote file lists behave differently regarding sort by date: when sorting by date in ascending order, the local list shows folders FIRST, while the remote one shows folders at the bottom. The opposite happens if you sort by date in descending order. |
