#9228 | Slow double click to rename file then right click freezes whole interface. | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
This happens to me farely often, I will click a file slowly twice usually by accident, and then right click (my initial intended action). If you right click in that text box that appears after the slow double click it freezes everything. I can still Exit through global menu but that is about it. I think i am an overclicker so this may not have come up for other people :) I am using Ubuntu 13.10 and filezilla 3.7.3 I have had this issue for a long time over several versions of each. Just tested on OSX and it is not an issue there. Thank you filezilla! |

#9233 | Parallels Compatibility Issue? | normal | outdated | 10 years | 7 years
Description |
I recently installed Parallels on my Mac and since then have been experiencing errors with FileZilla that I did not have prior to Parallels. I am wondering if there is some sort of compatibility issue? Here are the issues I’ve been encountering. I cannot access any SFTP sites. The user name and passwords are correct, (double checked with the site owner), but it will never let me connect. FTP works as far as pulling up the site, but disconnects me from actually making any changes. This is the most recent error code I received : Error: Could not read from socket: ECONNRESET - Connection reset by peer Error: Disconnected from server I am the only person in my office experiencing this issue with the same sites, and the only one running parallels, thus leading me to believe it's a parallels issue? I appreciate your time! |

#9318 | 'Overwrite if newer' overwrites file even if they have the same timestamp while uploading. | normal | fixed | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
Using version 3.7.3 the options 'Overwrite if newer' works correctly. However, after upgrading to version 3.7.4.1 all files are overwritten even if the files have the same timestamps. I tested it with identical directories and files. First I uploaded files with version 3.7.3. Everything works as expected. Only files that actually were newer got transferred. Then I set-up exactly the same files and directories and use version 3.7.4.1. All files were transferred, even the files having identical timestamps. I also noticed that the files have correct identical timestamps in the treeview (see attachment for just one file). Settings the server timezone offset +1 solves the wrong file-overwrite behavior. However then the times in the treeview are not displayed correctly. The logging for transferring 1 file that has identical timestamps at both the server and the client (test.txt) looks as follows: Status: Verbinding aangemaakt, welkomstbericht afwachten... #9337 | Transfer not retried after code 530 | normal | wontfix | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
Windows, version 3.7.4.1. Imagine I attempt to transfer/upload 20 files to my FTP site (not FileZila server). My FTP server supports 10 connections. I set the transfer to support 10 connections. Sometimes, the server fails with code 530 (see log below). Bug is, when that happens, it doesn't attempt to re-try file upload. I have attached a log file. In is it the initial attempt to upload the files. Then, there are 2x more attempts to upload the files that didn't initially transfer. I understand that the retry logic is tricky. However, the minimum it should do is -- at the end of the transfer, it could show a dialog saying something like "7 of 20 files failed to transfer". Keep up the good work! Sean |

#9365 | file upload indicated it failed when it didn't | normal | outdated | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
I frequently upload a file "roster.php". It has always worked the first time, But, over the past month or so it indicates "Accepted data connection" followed by another request if I want to overwrite the existing file. I respond yes and it repeats the sequence about three times then then says file transfer failed. But when I look at the file the file has been updated. It didn't fail after all. Today I chose to hit cancel in the 2nd request to verify that I wanted to overwrite the file.It then told me that the file transfer was successful. I've attached a screen clip. Now that I know that all I have to do is hit cancel I can live with it, but thought you should know. |

Encryption is Use plain FTP (same for all sites). Logon Type for all sites is Normal. User and password boxes are filled out with correct data. I am using the newest version, 3.8.0, and it is doing this same error as the older version I had (I don't remember the previous version). |

#9423 | All my passwords were deleted for no reason | normal | rejected | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
FileZilla turned off the storing of passwords (including ticking the box in settings) which led to me losing all my passwords. This is what I did:
When googling I found this forum thread (https://forum.filezilla-project.org/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29878&start=15&sid=35e6379be2d519696199a78e6d9dbf14). The same thing happened to me as to the people in the thread. But I did not today and haven't for weeks used the quick connect toolbar. I realize this is not enough information for anything. And my simple attempt to recreate the problem resulted in nothing. I'm putting this here in hope someone else who is affected by this problem has more information. My installation of FileZilla is from regular FileZilla update, I don't think there was one very recently. Heres my system information: FileZilla Client Version: 3.8.0 Build information:

Getting the below error while doing ftp to server on port#990. If i do ftp with server name for ex- abc.example.com over 990 port, if fails with below error. However, if i do ftp with real IP address on port-990, it works fine. This issue is coming only in new FileZilla 3.8.0 version. With Older version 3.7*, it works fine. Response: 220 Server () ready. #9441 | Latest GnuTLS breaks compatibility with a number of servers | normal | rejected | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
As of v3.8 FileZilla is not able to connect over SSL/TLS to a number of FTP servers; Tested against ZFTP Server and Syncplify.me Server, maybe there are others. Older versions of FileZilla Client work perfectly. Servers have not been updated, therefore it must have been something in the FileZilla Client 3.8 update. |

#9443 | Need To log On twice | normal | outdated | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
When logging into my work server I need to log in twice. The first time it always hangs at the:- "command Type 1" When logging in again it gives me the option of cancelling the current log in and retrying. When I select this it then completes the log in and it works fine. This fault has been apparent since an Filezilla upgrade some months back. |

#9452 | can't maintain connection, duplicate connections? | normal | outdated | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
I've made no changes to FileZilla. PC is clean of viruses/malware per a full scan. Trying to download current website content in prep for monthly updates. Filezilla pauses then restarts, but after a few iterations of this gives the error message: "421 Too many connections (8) from this IP" The full listing is: Waiting to retry... Resolving address if hbartleague.org Connecting to 74.124.197.191.21... Connection established, waiting for welcome message... 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP Could not connect to server My host checked on their end, and noted that if their server wasn't clearing connection, it'd crash soon. Kinda makes sense. Their only suggestion was to reinstall FileZilla, suggesting that a config file has become corrupted. Is this my only option? |

#9454 | Target File Shows 0 bytes | normal | invalid | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
I am using the most current Filezilla version. I transferred the file 1harry.html onto my Website http://www.igs.net/~awhp. The file 1harry.html shows 1,190 as the file size from my computer files and 0 when I upload it to the site. I double click on 1harry.html to upload and get the window twice "Target file already exists," with action as "Overwrite" since I'm attempting to upload an updated version of 1harry.html. The transfer starts at Queued Files, looks like it's transferring with the numbers increasing. The message at the bottom says,"Failed transfers(1) and the message "Could not start transfer." Before, the upload would say successful but show the new file size as 0. I have checked the forums and attempted all the recommendations listed but without success. This issue has been ongoing for three weeks. Log: Status: Resolving address of www.igs.net Status: Connecting to 206.80.254.73:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... #9468 | encrypt websites data, irrespective of application password | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
Five years ago (Ticket #4565) this request was rejected, with the conclusion "On a secured computer plain text passwords are secure". There is no such thing as a secured computer, and recent events prove this without doubt. If you trust your door lock, then you may conclude that you dont need to lock drawers, but in reality you do: you are protecting at different levels; you may want your kid not to have access to the drawer but you still give him a key to your house. The drawer lock may not be foolproof, but it does deter from prying. Website data needs a drawer-level security. Stating that "A (security) chain is only as strong as its weakest link" does not mean that making things more difficult to an intruder is useless. I wish the developers take a different stand on this issue. Until then, I will replace FileZilla with a client more respectful of this point of view. Bye FileZilla. |

But I have no idea how to fix the problem. I searched the forums and old tickets here too. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me. Thank you very much. |

#9517 | Filezilla client repeated crashing while uploading | normal | fixed | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
When running the latest 3.8 version, Filezilla client repeatedly crashes. Typically I'll select a bunch of folders containing files to upload (to an FTP system running Filezilla server on Windows 2008 R2) and after a few dozen files, I get the windows popup: FileZilla FTP Client has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'. I've also noticed at times it seems to hang more while connecting to a folder to display contents, with the log panel text indicating it's waiting for the connection. Downloading files does not seem to cause the same problems; I recently downloaded a load of files from one place without incident, but on uploading them to another destination, encountered repeated problems. I have tried setting the program to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and also to run as Admin (in case was in some way related to permissions) but neither helps. Here is what gets logged in event viewer: Faulting application name: filezilla.exe, version: 3.8.0.0, time stamp: 0x53354246 Faulting module name: filezilla.exe, version: 3.8.0.0, time stamp: 0x53354246 Exception code: 0xc0000005 Fault offset: 0x001d9021 Faulting process ID: 0xa68 Faulting application start time: 0x01cf6aa7a3177082 Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\FileZilla FTP Client\filezilla.exe Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\FileZilla FTP Client\filezilla.exe Report ID: 0a7c5e1c-d69c-11e3-bf67-005056c00008 Faulting package full name: Faulting package-relative application ID: I installed the 3.7.4.1 version from SF, and this seems to work fine. |

I hope this makes sense. |

Today I opened my Filezilla to access my FTP Site & received an update for version 3.8.1, and I clicked 'Install New Version' The FileZilla got closed abruplty, i lost my FTP Connection and instead it showed a dialog-box saying 'Unsupported operating system Filezilla requires atleast Windows Vista and may not work correctly on your system. Do you really want to continue with the installation?' I pressed 'No', and found that FileZilla was still Closed. I understand that my OS(Windows XP) is not supported by the update, but Filezilla should not close abruptly, irrespective of whether I chose to Update it or not Update it.

#9582 | FileZilla "hardcodes" inclusion of GTK2 even when wxWidgets use GTK3 | normal | fixed | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
I have wxGTK 3.0.1 installed (I'm using OS X 10.7, but I'm almost sure that this isn't OSX-specific and could be reproduced on Linux; I didn't try though). $ wx-config --cxxflags -I/path/to/wxGTK/3.0/lib/wx/include/gtk3-unicode-3.0 -I/path/to/wxGTK/3.0/include/wx-3.0 -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -DWXUSINGDLL -D__WXGTK__ $ wx-config --libs -L/path/to/wxGTK/3.0/lib -framework IOKit -framework CoreServices -framework System -framework ApplicationServices -lwx_gtk3u_xrc-3.0 -lwx_gtk3u_webview-3.0 -lwx_gtk3u_html-3.0 -lwx_gtk3u_qa-3.0 -lwx_gtk3u_adv-3.0 -lwx_gtk3u_core-3.0 -lwx_baseu_xml-3.0 -lwx_baseu_net-3.0 -lwx_baseu-3.0

This isn't a showstopper on Mac where users can (and should) use the native Cocoa user interface (but one shouldn't assume that GTK always means Linux though). We provide wxGTK 2.8 as a fallback for programs that require wxWidgets 2.8. In this case I wanted to provide a wxGTK 3.0 fallback because some functionality in the Cocoa inteface isn't working properly yet on Mac. But I'm afraid that this would be a problem on other OSes as well. |

And I found that only when uninstalling AND deleting the following files BY HAND, the issue disappears: --- fzshellext.dll libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll libstdc++-6.dll libwinpthread-1.dll --- In fact, I selected "Uninstall " and after process finished, it asked to reboot. Upon restart, the directory where the program was installed is full with all the files, and the issue persisted. I manually deleted all the files, but the previously mentioned were not deleted, indicating that they were used by Windows. I had to reboot to the option "Safe mode with command prompt" in order to be able to delete the files and directory. Then, after a check with CCleaner, one key remained in registry: --- ActiveX/COM Issue InProcServer32\ C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client\fzshellext.dll HKCR\CLSID\{DB70412E-EEC9-479C-BBA9-BE36BFDDA41B} --- And it was deleted manually too. All the above procedure was made TWICE, because after the first time, I reinstalled the new version, hoping that it has been only a defective installation but it has not. I hope that it is corrected for the next version because it is a very useful tool. Thank you in advance. |

#9608 | Multiple UI problems with latest unstable | normal | fixed | 10 years | 10 years

There seems to be a number of UI problems, but specific to OS X. More exactly: The application starts up, and the main window appears. The cursor is in the "Host" window, but is not blinking. If you try to click in other text fields, the cursor does not move to them. If you type characters, they do not appear. But they DO seem to be registered; if you type in a hostname and click on Quickconnect, they will appear. There are other weird UI issues as well, those are only the ones that stand out right at first glance. All of these things happen with a FileZilla I build from source code as well. |

Steps to reproduce: 1: Connect to server using FTP and Type Normal. 2: Open any file for View/Edit. 3: Close file viewer/editor with the file opened in step 2. 4: Now close Filezilla. 5: You will be told by Filezilla that some files are still being edited or need to be uploaded, even though they are no longer open. 6: Click on the Yes button. 7: Now a Error dialog pops up with above error. This never happened in the last version of Filezilla and I always update as soon as I am told Filezilla has been updated. Thanks Paul |

#9624 | No retry after failed to sent a command. | normal | fixed | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
Hello I'm using internet behind NAT444. My ISP's NAT device allow port binding just for some time. After NAT device doesn't see activity on the port it will silently drop port binding to home's client. To solve this You should add some option to send some null command for every X seconds. (Like in Putty) but for particular issues I found is when I can connect to a server and then inactive for a period of time. Filezilla won't retry by restart a connection with the server when encounter an Error. Here the log: Command: RNFR something.html Error: Connection closed by server I expect when this happen it should restart connection with the server. Either you resolve the issue by adding option to make some TCP activity periodically or retry when encounter an error is fine by me but I think both would be the best. |

#9660 | Never Check for Updates not working | normal | worksforme | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
When I start the application, and it completely ignores my set option in settings of "Check for FileZilla updates automatically:" "Never". It then goes on to find an update. What's worse is that it alerts me every time I open the application, even redownloading the update if I go to Downloads and delete it. This seems like a pretty major bug. It's been happening for years, but I never got this annoyed with it before. Any idea when this can be fixed? Right now I'm in triage mode and have that program firewall blocked to the filezilla site it tries to reach for update information, but that's totally unnecessary. |

#9663 | 3.9.0.1 Lost Drag & Drop | normal | fixed | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
FileZilla updated while I was away from my download session, and now I can't drag and drop files at all. I hope this wasn't intentional - a couple of hours ago I was able to drag things freely to the desktop. Thanks, Chris Benson |

#9667 | Multiple simultaneous downloads on OS X locks up UI and slows downloads significantly | normal | fixed | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
When transferring a large batch of files on 3.9.0 (hundreds of files averaging between 2KB and 300KB), 10 simultaneous transfers at once, the UI locks up (although the app is still downloading and the command echo window is still scrolling through commands). The downloading slows to approximately 5-10% of available network speed (and I can see the echo window slows commands to this rate as well). Once all files have been downloaded, the UI becomes accessible again. Note, I had no problems performing the same actions above on 3.8.1. On that older version, downloads were at full speed and the UI never locked up. I confirmed that this is a new issue introduced since v3.8.1. I recreated the issue on 3.9.0, then I downgraded from 3.9.0 back to 3.8.1 and the issue went away (speeds went back to normal and UI was accessible during this download process). So that rules out an issue with my computer, OS, network or server. I have not tested if this affects multiple simultaneous uploads as well. |

#9668 | 3.9.0.1 causing crashes | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
I installed the latest FileZilla Client 3.9.0.1 yesterday, and every time I open a new directory now the screen goes black for a second, and I get a warning that says the Windows driver had recovered from a problem. If I try to do anything even slightly complex, I get the blue screen of death and have to restart (x3 so far today). Hopefully a patch will come through to correct this issue. Sorry, I wish I knew something more specific to tell you, but please email me if I can help. |

#9673 | Left Click Right Click is treated as a double click in 3.9.0.1 | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
I updated to FileZilla 3.9.0.1 today and am now accidentally downloading a ton of files because if you left click and then immediately right click a file it's treated as a double left click and is downloaded. Normally I will left click a file, then right click so I can edit it and this is disrupting my workflow pretty significantly because I have to wait several seconds before right clicking so I don't accidentally download it. |

#9678 | Connecting to an FTP Site causes Display Adapter to crash | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
As of the recent update to 3.9.0.1, when I connect to a site, my screen goes black and windows reports that the display adapter has crashed. It then comes back on with FileZilla not as the window in focus, but still open and I can push/pull files at that point. If I click F5 to refresh a directory listing the same thing happens. |

#9683 | Problems with focus | normal | duplicate | 10 years | 10 years
Description |
Hi, since the last release (3.9.0.1), the focus on the last selected file ist lost if I use another app and come back to Filezilla. This is frustrating as I need to use the mouse to select the file again. A similar problem occurs when I open the Site Manager : i cannot simply press "Enter" anymore to connect to the last Site I connected to. It was also possible with the previous release. |
