F1 F12 buttons on laptops

Description
Hi There,
I have recently bought a new laptop, and having been a long time user of FileZilla I have noticed a problem. When using other programs such as chrome - the F1-F12 buttons work as usual (F5 Refreshes the page, f2 to edit etc), however in FileZilla they default to the laptop keys (such as brightness and volume).
I hope this makes sense.

Do you still have that problem even after rebooting your computer? Do other programs have this problem as well? Which operating system are you using?
