When browsing our SFTP server using filezilla v3.8.0 on Windows the year in the modified date field is showing as 2014 when the correct date is actually 2013. I have confirmed the date is correct on the actual file and by browsing using Cyberduck and the date s only wrong when using filezilla.

Critical error, could not connect to server

is what I get when I try to connect. I spent hours on the phone with tech support trying to resolve the issue, seems like it's the Windows 8.1 firewall. But I have no idea how to fix the problem. I searched the forums and old tickets here too. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.

If there is lag when doing an file upload and file erasing, two popups will appear. The delete confirmation and the overwrite 'target already exists', and both will be unresponsive.

I cannot click in any button of delete popup neither overwrite one.

When running the latest 3.8 version, Filezilla client repeatedly crashes. Typically I'll select a bunch of folders containing files to upload (to an FTP system running Filezilla server on Windows 2008 R2) and after a few dozen files, I get the windows popup:

FileZilla FTP Client has stopped working - a problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.'.

I've also noticed at times it seems to hang more while connecting to a folder to display contents, with the log panel text indicating it's waiting for the connection.

Downloading files does not seem to cause the same problems; I recently downloaded a load of files from one place without incident, but on uploading them to another destination, encountered repeated problems.

I have tried setting the program to run in Windows 7 compatibility mode, and also to run as Admin (in case was in some way related to permissions) but neither helps.

Hello, i was editing a file directly on the server without a backup on my system after editing this file i clicked save adn closed it which it will ask if i want to save the file back to the server i clicked which i approved but immeditely i approved my system went off and after restarting my system i realized the file had been broken and the contents werent complete, please i dont have a backup of this file on my system only on the server and all the files are gone i need an urgent response.

Does not support Chinese character in the "Remote site" window. There will be a question mark on the folder icon in the Remote site window, if click the Chinese folder name, it will create an unreadable code instead.

Current implementation of recursive directories delete does not allow for over-populated directories (i.e. directories containing more files than the server's listing output limit).

I have recently bought a new laptop, and having been a long time user of FileZilla I have noticed a problem. When using other programs such as chrome - the F1-F12 buttons work as usual (F5 Refreshes the page, f2 to edit etc), however in FileZilla they default to the laptop keys (such as brightness and volume).

I hope this makes sense.

I just encountered an error where FileZilla repeatedly tries to transfer a file but it says it fails. I only noticed the problem on a handful of files.

The ftp server is pure-ftpd 1.0.36-1.1 running on Debian.

If I set FileZilla 3.8.0 to search for new nightly builds it correctly suggests the build 2014-05-29.

Now I have installed FileZilla 3.8.1-rc3. If I choose to search for nightly builds it says I have the latest version.

I have had a look at filezilla.xml. It seems FilleZilla got the correct info from update server.

During upgrade from 3.8.1-rc2 to rc3 I got the attached error message. The same message appears for libstdc++-6.dll and libwinpthread-1.dll.

Apparently, the files are in use by Windows Explorer.

If I uninstall FileZilla manually it says that a reboot is required to complete the uninstall.

Maybe the upgrade process should consider whether the uninstall requires a reboot?

I am Using Windows XP SP3 & my FileZilla Client Version is 3.8.0.

Today I opened my Filezilla to access my FTP Site & received an update for version 3.8.1, and I clicked 'Install New Version'

The FileZilla got closed abruplty, i lost my FTP Connection and instead it showed a dialog-box saying 'Unsupported operating system Filezilla requires atleast Windows Vista and may not work correctly on your system. Do you really want to continue with the installation?' I pressed 'No', and found that FileZilla was still Closed.

I understand that my OS(Windows XP) is not supported by the update, but Filezilla should not close abruptly, irrespective of whether I chose to Update it or not Update it.

As EMET is used in enterprise environments where it cannot be disabled by users, this issue prevents FileZilla from functioning. Downgrading to 3.8.0 fixes the issue.

With homes on DFS and %AppData% redirected to homes (roaming profiles) following paths d/dfs/.../.../%username%/%AppData% gets interpreted as d:/dfs/.../.../%username%/%%AppData% . So d/ is rewritten as the drive d:/ , this means settings in %AppData%/Filezilla/ are not written and you get a whole bunch of Error Messages "cannot write xml files".

In FileZilla there is an option to pause downloading files by clicking on process queue, but it stops all files to be downloaded.

Is it possible to stop just a single file while downloading?

It is oftenly required when we're downloading a lot of files of large sizes and for some duration want to use internet bandwidth for another purpose than downloading multiple files at a time.

When launching Filezilla (versions 3.7x and later) the position of the window is fixed. I cannot drag the window or resize it.

Workaround: I have to click out of the window and back in multiple times before I am allowed to reposition the window on the screen.

This started around six months ago and it hasn't been fixed as of the latest version (3.8.1).

Hi again, it would be a nice feature to be able to add a custom tab name for each connection, rather than having the auto generated ones.

So basically there would be another field in the Site Manager generals tab, that would you let input a 'tab name' that is then displayed in the tab of that particular connection. S

Can anyone confirm the status of the Filezilla client as to whether it is vulnerable to this latest issue ?

Try to detect the download folder, and select it by default (i.e. there is no 'last directory'). Otherwise, fallback to 'documents' directory.

This was left in an earlier commit, causing a compiler warning and still the runtime error.

Awesome new feature to automatically download updates to FileZilla, however, instead of in the user'sDownloads folder, the archive ends up in Documents instead. Only a minor nuisance, but still I think this should be corrected.

This isn't a showstopper on Mac where users can (and should) use the native Cocoa user interface (but one shouldn't assume that GTK always means Linux though). We provide wxGTK 2.8 as a fallback for programs that require wxWidgets 2.8. In this case I wanted to provide a wxGTK 3.0 fallback because some functionality in the Cocoa inteface isn't working properly yet on Mac.

But I'm afraid that this would be a problem on other OSes as well.

The latest nightly version (2014-06-17) fails to compile on Mac OS X Snow Leopard (10.6).

After updating to the 3.8.1 version it's not possible to browse or copy files with cyrillic names - "No such file or directory ". UTF-8 is set in configuration.

In Filezilla client on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, when I want to rename a file, I right click it or I click twice the file slowly, the file name is now selectable, I am able to rename the file, but if I right click the selected file name the program is like frozen, you can not do anything but kill it with the PID. Normally a menu should open where you can copy cut or paste for example, but here it simply does not open a menu, it just freeze the program.

Can you add link to putty into filezilla settings and add icon for execution to the panel? Like it's realized in winscp. If connection type is sftp, then if click on icon, then putty opens this connection with current auth params.

Then, after a check with CCleaner, one key remained in registry: --- ActiveX/COM Issue InProcServer32\ C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client\fzshellext.dll HKCR\CLSID\{DB70412E-EEC9-479C-BBA9-BE36BFDDA41B} --- And it was deleted manually too. All the above procedure was made TWICE, because after the first time, I reinstalled the new version, hoping that it has been only a defective installation but it has not. i´m using the filezilla-client 3.7.3; with SFTP max. 2xConnections. This was the last version with no bluescreen´s. The problem occurs in version >3.7.3 after -> "Action after queue completion"->"shutdown system" (when the queue is empty)

-the new version 3.9.0Beta i haven´t tested, the version 3.8 have the same problem!

I get the attached error message on exit.

Reproduction steps: 1) Start FileZilla. 2) Connect to a server. 3) Right click some file and choose View/Edit. 4) Exit FileZilla (answer Yes on confirmation dialog).

With FileZilla 3.9.0-beta1 the directory comparison function shows unexpected results in some cases.

Sometimes if a file or folder is missing on server, all following files or folders are shown as being missing although there are matching items.

I attached an example. FileZilla 3.8.1. with the same settings shows the expected result.

There seems to be a number of UI problems, but specific to OS X. More exactly:

The application starts up, and the main window appears. The cursor is in the "Host" window, but is not blinking. If you try to click in other text fields, the cursor does not move to them. If you type characters, they do not appear. But they DO seem to be registered; if you type in a hostname and click on Quickconnect, they will appear. There are other weird UI issues as well, those are only the ones that stand out right at first glance. All of these things happen with a FileZilla I build from source code as well.

When logging in to the system, everybody on my team gets the error I've posted below. For the host we enter 10.96.13.149. For the user ID and PW we enter dtftp. We then click on quickconnect and this is what happens:

Status: Connecting to 10.96.13.149:21... Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message... Response: 220 PEKAX149 FTP server (Version 4.2 Sat Feb 2 10:36:21 CST 2013) ready. Please make a filezilla for 32bit/64bit ARM as a download. Compiling is too complicated and I would like to use latest filezilla on ARM desktop.

I am using Filezilla version 3.9.0-beta1 and I get the following when closing Filezilla if I ever had a file open which may or may not of been already closed.

[Filezilla Error] File 'C:\Users\user name\AppData\Local\Temp\fz3temp-1\empty_file_yq744zm' couldn't be removed (error 0: the operation conpleted successfully.)

This isn't a show stopper more of an annoyance, I have also added steps to reproduce.

Steps to reproduce: 1: Connect to server using FTP and Type Normal. 2: Open any file for View/Edit. 3: Close file viewer/editor with the file opened in step 2. 4: Now close Filezilla. 5: You will be told by Filezilla that some files are still being edited or need to be uploaded, even though they are no longer open. 6: Click on the Yes button. 7: Now a Error dialog pops up with above error.

This never happened in the last version of Filezilla and I always update as soon as I am told Filezilla has been updated.

I tried file transferred to ftp server. FileZilla was notified success. but file size is smaller than original file.

I tested 2 server (pure-ftpd on Embedded Linux, ftpd on Ubuntu) and also tested another client that it is console ftp client on OS X.

console ftp was success and same file size. FileZilla was failed the size.

• Show remote directory tree
• Enable directory comparison
• Chose "Yes" in the dialog asking to enable local directory tree

Result Local directory tree icon is marked as hidden, but directory tree is shown.

Expected result Local directory tree icon is marked as shown.

Remarks It also works the other way round, by swapping local and remote tree and icons.

Tried just the new beta 2, and it does not show anything in the remote window at all, empty windows (display). Local window section is normal working, only whatever folder or file I use is not shown in the remote window section... A bit strange.

If an sftp connection is left open at the client and closed by the server? any attempt to refresh the remote directory display or reconnect will crash the client.

Hello I'm using internet behind NAT444. My ISP's NAT device allow port binding just for some time. After NAT device doesn't see activity on the port it will silently drop port binding to home's client.

To solve this You should add some option to send some null command for every X seconds. (Like in Putty)

but for particular issues I found is when I can connect to a server and then inactive for a period of time. Filezilla won't retry by restart a connection with the server when encounter an Error. Here the log:

Command: RNFR something.html Error: Connection closed by server

I expect when this happen it should restart connection with the server.

Either you resolve the issue by adding option to make some TCP activity periodically or retry when encounter an error is fine by me but I think both would be the best.

We have restricted the user to their home directory in ftpaccess.ctl. User is able to list the files when using FTP in Command Prompt whereas the same is not working while connecting using Filezilla 3.7.4.1.

Please advice on the changes to be made in Filezilla Client.

Half fixed maybe. it is OK if you work only on 1 tab. as soon as you open a second tab, it goes back to the very same problem state where your actions not reflected to UI, until if you maybe enter a directory etc...

Hi all! I read many tickets related to this issue, but no solution. We have 5 different PCs with Windows 8.1 Pro. On all PCs FileZilla is very slow when listing network folders and files, and increases going deeper into the tree of the folders, until every single file or folder (!) appears every half a second. It 's very difficult to browse folders and scroll through the lists in these conditions. FileZilla is fast on local directories. Do you have an idea or a worksaround? Thank you!

The file i wanted to upload is added to the 'successfull transfers' list. It should not be on that list as it's not successfully transferred.

File on FTP server is deleted (by another ftp user/client)

[Old listing still contains the file, but that was removed] Upload the file which already existed but was deleted in the step above

Filezilla asks what to do, but the file is already deleted and should be handled as a new file - without showing the dialog if the user want to overwrite/resume etc.

I've used Filezilla for many years, but after today's update (to version 3.8.1) I can't connect.

All goes well with my username being accepted, but when it gets to password, the response in green says "530 login authentication failed" and a red message appears "Critical error. Could not connect to server."

I've tried shutting down Filezilla and starting it up again, but always the same message.

In CuteFTP there are up buttons for both the client and the server panels. The other button is a bookmarks button which is CuteFTP's version of synchronized browsing.

Adding an up button just to the right of the drop-down menus for both the client and the server would eliminate the need for an unnecessary extra click and really make navigation slick because of synchronized browsing. Putting the up button on top of the grey background like the labels with the drop-down menu in between would probably be the best way to achieve visual consistency. Additionally since it seems customization is important the ability to remove the button via the 'View' menu would be great for those who want to remove the button.

This came with starting program

I upgraded from FileZilla 3.7.3 to 3.8.0. Upon startup, I receive the message that FileZilla is unable to find its resources, suggesting that this can be overcome by setting the FZ_DATADIR environment variable (presumably to point at \Program Files (x86)\Filezilla\resources) or by providing the --datadir command-line option. Neither of these help. Indeed, using the --datadir command-line option posts an error message "Unknown long option 'datadir'".

Downgrading to 3.7.3 provides a workaround.

If the connection drops during the first part of a "Create directory and enter it" operation, FileZilla will reconnect but resume with the second command. E.g.:

I'm using 10.9.4 Mavericks, and te latest version of Filezilla has issues with 'overscan'

Adjusting resolution, then switching back solves this issue.

Recently when I have uploaded files, the modification date on the remote site has not changed. The latest date shown is 06/07/2014 although several files have been updated since then

Some days ago I updated my OS. From that day on Filezilla forgets column widths after closing/reopening. I have this problem again and again. Sometimes the widths are remembered over e period of many month, then for weeks and month they are forgotten every time.

When the queue is finished I want Filezilla to shutdown computer but I have the error message "Failed to kill process xxxx" where xxxx is fzftp ID process.

fsftp has yet been killed but I still have the error message. This happens very often but not all the time.

By using the contron panel (CPANEL) I get to access my host/server and so on with the password I have created by using characters such as @. (at, period) and they are repeated in the password, but it seems that FileZilla doesn't get to connect with the server with a password like that, I got the error connection exceeded the time limit, it wasn't possible to connect to the server. But If I use the browser to access my control pannel I get to access with the same password. So, it is working ok on the server.

The problem is that when I try to upload certain files in passive mode, FileZilla tell if I want to overwrite it (although it wasn't present in the server) and the file is truncated to 1.4KB.

I attach the file that fail, "c8.d", and the same file with a byte less that don't fail, "c11.d".

I also attach the log of a complete sesion: connect to server, navigate to folder, put file, cancel overwrite question, delete file.

The ftp server is vsftp, I can't tell more of it until the server admin get in grace to tell me what version is.

A thing that is strange is the other files of more size get uploaded correctly.

The last 2 versions of FileZilla have downloaded to the wrong directory. (3.8.1 & 3.9.0) When a new version is available, I get a dialog stating that a new version is available and has been downloaded to my Downloads folder. This is not the case. Instead the versions are being downloaded to my Documents folder.

I would expect the archive to be downloaded to my Downloads folder, since this is where everything else ends up. (preferred) Or I would expect the dialog to tell me that the downloads are in my Documents folder.

I am unable to copy the filepath for Local Site or Remote Site as I was in earlier versions of FileZilla. I use this feature every day to send the location of files on our ftp to other members of my team. Can you look into it?

Just installed the latest version. Each time Select a directory or try to drag a file from the local site to the remote site, the screen goes black then comes back on. A a message says "Display Driver stopped responding and has recovered Display driver intel graphics accelerator drivers for windows 7(R) stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

When I start the application, and it completely ignores my set option in settings of "Check for FileZilla updates automatically:" "Never".

It then goes on to find an update. What's worse is that it alerts me every time I open the application, even redownloading the update if I go to Downloads and delete it.

This seems like a pretty major bug. It's been happening for years, but I never got this annoyed with it before.

Any idea when this can be fixed? Right now I'm in triage mode and have that program firewall blocked to the filezilla site it tries to reach for update information, but that's totally unnecessary.

FileZilla is overriding system preferences (Win 8.1 Pr 64)and using month/day/year rather than day/month/year. Started in 3.9.0 and is in current build 3.9.0.1

FileZilla updated while I was away from my download session, and now I can't drag and drop files at all.

I hope this wasn't intentional - a couple of hours ago I was able to drag things freely to the desktop.

When transferring a large batch of files on 3.9.0 (hundreds of files averaging between 2KB and 300KB), 10 simultaneous transfers at once, the UI locks up (although the app is still downloading and the command echo window is still scrolling through commands). The downloading slows to approximately 5-10% of available network speed (and I can see the echo window slows commands to this rate as well). Once all files have been downloaded, the UI becomes accessible again.

Note, I had no problems performing the same actions above on 3.8.1. On that older version, downloads were at full speed and the UI never locked up.

I confirmed that this is a new issue introduced since v3.8.1. I recreated the issue on 3.9.0, then I downgraded from 3.9.0 back to 3.8.1 and the issue went away (speeds went back to normal and UI was accessible during this download process). So that rules out an issue with my computer, OS, network or server.

I have not tested if this affects multiple simultaneous uploads as well.

I installed the latest FileZilla Client 3.9.0.1 yesterday, and every time I open a new directory now the screen goes black for a second, and I get a warning that says the Windows driver had recovered from a problem. If I try to do anything even slightly complex, I get the blue screen of death and have to restart (x3 so far today). Hopefully a patch will come through to correct this issue. Hi, we have the problem that filezilla opens a new controll session when starting a filetransfer. So the server will disconnect the first controll session and filezilla got an error about that. The filetransfer gos on and end with no errors.

Previous to the most recent update, upon completion of file upload the window focus remained in the local side with the files still selected, making it easy to simply hit 'return' to quickly upload those same files again. Now after a file is uploaded the window focus changes to the Host input box.

I updated to FileZilla 3.9.0.1 today and am now accidentally downloading a ton of files because if you left click and then immediately right click a file it's treated as a double left click and is downloaded. Normally I will left click a file, then right click so I can edit it and this is disrupting my workflow pretty significantly because I have to wait several seconds before right clicking so I don't accidentally download it.

Option to disable prompt when auto file change detected and automatically upload file.

After updating to 3.9.0.1, pressing the Tab key no longer stops in the local or remote file list, when the directory trees are hidden. The caret moves from the Local site: address immediately to the Remote site: address. When the directory trees are shown, the caret will stop in the file lists.

As of the recent update to 3.9.0.1, when I connect to a site, my screen goes black and windows reports that the display adapter has crashed. It then comes back on with FileZilla not as the window in focus, but still open and I can push/pull files at that point. If I click F5 to refresh a directory listing the same thing happens.

Hi, since the last release (3.9.0.1), the focus on the last selected file ist lost if I use another app and come back to Filezilla. This is frustrating as I need to use the mouse to select the file again. A similar problem occurs when I open the Site Manager : i cannot simply press "Enter" anymore to connect to the last Site I connected to. It was also possible with the previous release.

Our company uses FileZilla to all our FTP accounts with all our employees on Windows 7. Up to 3.8.1, we have been running our accounts off a soft symbolically linked sitemanager.xml ( via mklink in cmd )file that is backed up offsite, and thus available to all our employees as they work on their specific version of FileZilla. When we updated to 3.9.1, FileZilla is now unable to see the mklink'd file's contents, and returns 0 bytes. As this has happened across all our computers, and we've re-linked the files numerous times with no success, we've reverted back to 3.8.1 so our business can continue to operate.

As a clarification, the file itself is not located on an internal server, as some of our employees do not work in the office. It has been setup on each pc's with a soft symbolic link that references a file in a local folder that is backed up offsite and each of our pc's have that cloned folder ( Dropbox ).

We'd love to provide any additional information to assist in this bug's resolution, as it is and has been an intricate part of our development model for many years.

I am running Filezilla Client version 3.9.0.1 on my Mac. I am unable to open multiple server sessions in different tabs. I connect to one server but when I connect to another it just opens in the first tab and the other tab says "Not Connected." I have tried this with multiple servers with the same thing happening each time, the server that is open in the first tab is closed and the new one I selected opens in it's place. Please see attached image.

I was able to do it in the previous version but something happened in this current update.

Since updating to FileZilla 3.9.0.1, I am no longer able to copy and past the local site path to the Remote site path like I have been able to in the past. Was this feature disabled on purpose and if so would you tell me the reason?

I keep the same path on my local drive as I do on my server and it just means less typing.

I update to the latest patch 3.9.0.1 and for now on I got driver problem, my screen goes to black and windows show me a message with a driver issue problem. I update my windows, I uninstall FileZilla, reboot and re-install and still got this problem.

I also have a problem with the drag&drop outside the application, this is not working.

Please help and fix.

While the File Queue Tab and the Failed Transfers Tab correctly show files in queue and files that failed to transfer, respectively, the Succeeded Transfers Tab stays completely empty.

This error occured since version 3.9.0.0

Note: the actual Tab names may be a little different, since my Filezilla Client is a brazilian portuguese version and I just freely translated the tab names from protuguese to english.

This is the little problem but most required. 1) i selected local files 2) press "TAB" 2 times 3) now i am in list of files on FTP 4) Select files/dir of ftp 5) now go back by press "SHIFT + TAB" to local files list 6) when focus go to this local files list it set focus on local dir list where selected MY COMPUTER and drives list in files list box.

there should display on got focus opened files list which was displayed before got focus. after i update file zila this is happening.

I've updated filezilla to 3.9.0.1 and all my sites under 'site management' where lost.

I use a symlink to a dropbox account to sync my sites over several computers. When i copy the sitemanager.xml to C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla everything works. However, when I create a symlink from that location to the dropbox location, no sites are available.

It worked like a charm in the previous version, can you fix it?
