Plz add support for transferring files with their names encoded in EUC (Japanese) for transferring files with an ftp server on a UNIX machine. Would be nice if this could be done per site in the advanced section of site configuration.

When you sort the Files by Last Modified it should still keep the Folders at the top instead of mixing everything up based on when the Folder was created. If you still want to sort the Folders by when they were modified then that's fine, but don't you think they should be kept at the top of the window? It's impossible to find a folder when you have a directory full of 1,000's of files! Very annoying. :(

When a file is downloading FileZilla shows the transfer data rate in the status bar. It would be very useful for me if you added in the log window the mean transfer rate for each file downloaded (for statistic purposes).

The "filetype" (extension) should be treated as a separate column like filesize, date, time, permissions, owner/group. and not be concatenated with the "filename"

This would allow sorting on the filetype, and make the tool that much better as often times only one filetype is needed and it would allow the needle in the haystack to be found lickity/split.

Running FileZilla 221b Connecting to FTP Server that is using VShell.

Scenario: users with certain access correctly see a folder for say... uploads and they cannot browse anywhere else. This functionality is correct for that group policy. The home folder is set to this location for these users via VShell. The user sees the root folder and only this upload folder. The group rights are set so that the user can upload to directory but cannot request a directory listing. The process is intended for a blind upload.

Problem: Cannot "PUT" files into the folder because ls/list/dir commands are blocked to users with this type of access. Why does FileZilla need to list directory to issue the put command (i.e. put <filename> ...c:\windows) Is there a way to execute "PUT" without FileZilla listing the target directory contents or issuing an ls command?

Since Im sure alot of dialup users out there use FTP, and the hosts they have dont have the ability to bring files from another server. Im one of those people. I would like to see the ability to have multiple connections open, with the ability to drag and drop between servers. As moving from server - hdd- another server can take forever for us dialup users.

Having the My Desktop, My Documents, etc in the directory list would be very useful as sometimes I just put an image on my desktop and I Want to quickly upload it. As well, if a user works out of their my documents folder a lot it will allow for quick and easy access to that data, and it follows the Windows look and feel spec a bit closer as well.

It would be nice to have the same "root" structure in Filezilla as in Windows : actually, it's a bit painfull to find your "Desktop" crawling through "Document and settings" and so on. As in any other software, Desktop is a "root" directory

As present in "CuteFTP", it would be so great to have the option "Add site to shell integration", in the site manager window. Then, it would be possible to directly upload files from windows explorer, when invoking a right-click on the file you want to upload. Bravo bravo for such a software!

An internal text editor in a panel at the right of the remote one could be usefoul to edit and upload a file withouth closing it, losing the "undo history".

I'm using filezilla to maintain code on a distant machine. I always have to propagate modifications on every version of the program, thats why i have to work on files which have same name, but are in different directories (/v0.1/, /v0.2/). This cant be done since the View/Edit feature first copies the file locally and then opens it. Editing files with same name leads to "file already exists" message. It would be great if the download process could rebuild the directory tree locally before editing the file...

Is it possible to have as options on Upload and (seperately) Download of an ASCII text file (eg .html) the Choice* between using

(a) Unix Line endings LF or (b) Windows Line Endings CR LF

Using FileZilla 2.2.1b on a Windows Me PC client, it appears FileZilla uses exclusively LF for upload (strips CR) and download. The Server (unix or windows) ought not care which line endings are used; browsers know CR, CR LF, and LF are equivalent for rendering purposes - the advantage to using the same line endings on both client and server is (1)At a glance comparision between ASCII file byte counts on upload or download - good confidence test etc and (2)Windows needs the CR for editing purposes if you download a text file - (unless one wants to look at the "black square" phenonmenon in Notepad etc.)

While there are settings for adjusting the sort order for the file list, it seems that the treeview always has an arbitrary sort (the directories). It would be nice to be able to adjust this setting so that when looking at mirrored directories, the local and remote treeview is congruent, making it easy to find the folder which requires transfer.

Currently in filezilla, when you click on a remote directory in the treeview, it opens the directory in the file list pane and expands the directory in the treeview. If you do this on the local treeview, it only opens the directory in the file list pane and does NOT expand the directory in the treeview. This is both an inconsistency and a nuisence (or to be more positive, it would be great if it worked this way ;)

I looked through the feature requests and I didn't see this mentioned before...

This request has two subsets:

First, IP access rules that allow IP banning, including IP range banning. Secondly, add configurable rules that allow the server to auto-ban IPs when certain conditions occur (such as hammering, too many connections, x number of failed logins, etc).

a good feature would be to be able to set a per-user or (more preferably) per-directory size limit, so that say I have a user that i don't want his home directory to grow any larger than a certain number of bytes. or say if I have a directory called /incoming where any user can upload, but i dont want it to be able to get any bigger than a certain size.

First off, I love your work!

Please consider adding an option to play a .wav sound upon completion of a transfer (for both individual files and for the entire queue). I frequently upload big files (several MB), and playing a sound would be a great way to notify me when one finishes to I do not have to check repeatedly.

There is only one client that supports HTTP proxy with FTP support - Total Commander. I hope that FileZilla will be the next :)

Could you implement support for secure file transfers via sftp?

A lot of site restrikt der downloads/uploads to sftp connections.

If you choose "Edit File" for a file on the remote server, the file being edited should be downloaded, opened with associated program (or Open With") and ask/automatically uploaded (by remembering the file date/time and doing a comparison) to the remote server each time the file is saved on the local machine (or if easier, when you exit the editor). A prompt asking the user "The file has been changed locally, do you want to update the server with the new file?" should come up as a confirmation.

It would be nice if the filezilla client and server icons were different, that way when both are minimized to the systray they can easily be distinguished. (maybe just adding an S to the FZ for the server icon?). Also, it would be nice if the client icon changed depending on its connected state as well, maybe red for not connected, yellow for connected but not transferring files, and green for transfer in progress. not major issues, but something that shouldn't be too difficult to do, no?

Filezilla is a very cool file transfer application but it seems to lack a feature surprisingly trivial: user profiles. All users share the same bookmarks that are stored in a system wide configuration file. On my home PC there are two users and this is impractical to find my own bookmark mixed with the other user's ones, figure it in a more etherogeneous environment like scools, universitie or offices... IMHO it should be better and *safer* having them stored into user's document folder (it can be found, for example, by inspecting USERPROFILE or HOMEPATH environment variables), and eventually check for a common configuration file (for default values or shared bookmarks) into Filezilla installdir or more consistently, into the path specified by ALLUSERPSROFILE environment variable.

I think it would serve very well to have a total transfer speed, especially with multi-threaded downloading. This should be very simple to do, and it could be stuck down in the status bar.

The only thing I have found missing in FileZilla is a way to save the connection settings to a file.

I have lots of connections, and it would be great if these could be exported. That way I could quickly give these to another person, or back them up and restore them easily.

There already is a way to export interface settings to an XML file, but not the connections.

If I understand correctly FileZilla uses the Mozzilla rendering engine which supports skins. The abiility to alter the appearance of the application and possibly extend it's functionality with custom buttons or menus would be nice.

right now, I can only get into log file and see what users are downloading now. it will be good to have something like table listing, so I know what files they are downloading now, and the speed for each user. thanks

I need to move files in an other directory... Deleting them to reupload them a minute later is a miraculous waste of bandwidth when you are limited on the server side. I would be great to add an option to do this with a single file and a group of file (Drag/Drop, or something like this)

For large downloads (like linux distros) where MD5 sums are offered, it would be really nice if FileZilla could compare its downloads to the sums offered to verify that everything was gotten correctly.

It appears that some strings are harcoded in the code of the filezilla server interface and in the Filezilla Server Service code.

Would it be possible to move them to the .rc in order to allow a full Localization only by modifying resources ?

In a second time, would it be possible to store resources in an external dll or res file (with regional information embedded in the name). That would allow to change only the localization appart from the rest of the application.

Servers behind NAT may give the wrong IP when they give the host/port info in their response to the client PASV.

I just experimented, and I can simply substitute the original server IP instead of using the one the server passed in the response.

I think this would make a nice option.

I'm seeing this matter when the server's NAT gateway can fix the outbound info in unencrypted channel (so I have no problem there), but the server's NAT gateway can't fix it in encrypted channel, so I can't connect unless I hack the code in CFtpControlSocket::List to switch IPs.

I think it would be nifty to have an Advanced option something like

"Use original Server IP in PASV connection"

for this case, to avoid having to hack in the cpp code myself :)

I might be able to submit a code patch for it, if I can (a) figure out the original server IP (which shouldn't be hard, but when I was hacking, I knew the server IP and just put in a hardcoded one, so I didn't solve this part), and (b) figure out the GUI stuff (probably much the harder part).

3D-FTP is known for being the fastest when it comes to uploading files, I myself used it before the trial period expired. The reason for it's speed is multi-threading!

Our webserver has been running Filezilla Server for some time now without any problems. Just recently, however, one of our clients has requested that we provide anonymous FTP access for their site. I would VERY much like to use Filezilla for this except that I would be unable to differentiate this client's traffic from our own.

Is there any chance of adding an extra field for each log entry, which is the amount of data transferred?.. Or even for each file that is transferred would still be extremely helpful.

If you're not connected to a server and you process the queue, the FileZilla client tells you when connects to the server(s) and when it processes each item in the queue, but it doesn't tell you if/when it disconnects from the server(s).

There is currently, as far as I know, no way to change the order of the items in the queue. It would be great to be able to drag and drop to change the order (as in virtually any other ftp program) or a context menu option to "move to bottom" and "move to top".

Is there any way of turning on a timestamp in the message log window so I can see exactly when I connected, disconnected, etc. Basically, I want to know when every single occurrence happened.

Example: [20:30:04] Status: Connecting to 127.0.0.1 ... [20:30:10] Error: Unable to connect! [20:30:11] Status: Waiting to retry... (999 retries left)

Which shows me that at 8:30pm, I tried to connect to localhost and failed.

As someone who rather uses a directory-view instead of a treeview I would really appreciate it if FileZilla could remember the last setting. It is quite a hassle to click on "Show/Hide local treeview" each time I fire up FileZilla. I would guess that this should also be applied to the remote treeview.

Another thing concerns the size of those three parts of the GUI. Whilst the message log most seems to be far to huge to me, directory listing are far to small. And as FileZilla does not remember changes I made to the arrangement I am forced to resize them every time. As within the above point this should be stored when closing the program as well.

A feature that allows a 'phonelist' of Filezilla Servers that you can have sync themselves would be very useful.

The introduction of folder - user - server customisation options may or may not be helpful, but the basic, "Server1 make yourself look like server2 please!" checkbox would be great.

It seems that I must currently set my firewall to allow outgoing connections on ANY port > 1024. Could we please allow the user to specify a limited range of ports for Filezilla Client to use, allowing the firewall to be configured more tightly? Maybe the GUI could be integrated with Feature Request 875817, also related to PASV connections. And, my thanks for this great software!

I nearly lost a lot today with a download->upload of a folder with file patterns like...

... which, when I downloaded ended up looking like...

ab123.zip ab123.exe

... and then uploaded, with half the data missing!

Please do this ASAP, for your owns sakes!

A good option would be to remember the remote site directories, so I would appear always in the Remote Site drop list. There could be an option to delete the list at any time. This is useful for webmasters especially if they have a large number of directories in his sites.

FileZilla is a great program, but I'm missing the possibility to edit target file/directory for a file in the queue. (Like CTRL-E in FlashFXP).

A "pause quene when current file(s) finish" would also be nice. (Not aborting current uploads/downloads)

As an ex ws_ftp user I find filezilla superior in nearly all aspects. Two things that I miss 'though:

1. Sounds - often I transfer a lot of files in the

background while I'm working on something else and I minimise my ftp client. A .wav to confirm that the transfer is complete (or there has been a problem) would be very useful. Some people may find sounds annoying, but they could always be switched off...

2. Transfer button - the upload / download buttons with

arrows in ws_ftp that sit between the server side and PC side files are more intuitive than double clicking or right clicking to transfer.

I have to go thru a firewall with anti-virus that send no data until the download is complete and the file is analyzed, and then, send the whole file at once.

for large files, even on fast remote servers, the download can take more than 999 seconds.

is it possible to allow larger timeout ?

FileZilla currently allows to specify only three-digit numeric values to change the file attributes of a file or directory, which means that one cannot set for instance any sticky bits (which require a 2xxx, 4xxx or 6xxx value). Would it be possible to change this in a future version of FileZilla, so that one can set attributes with the standard interface rather than having to use the raw FTP command?

In the FileZilla Server Interface, it would be usefull if the "Connect to server" dialog shows the list of all connected servers instead of only showing the last one.

The port number should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP).

The password should also remembered (associated with the server name/IP too). Maybe for security reason, it should be not remembered but then the behavior of the dialog box is changed from the original one, so the question of non-remembering of the password can be requested later if necessary.

The Filezilla Client Installer does not search automatically for ressources in the current directory.

Considering the following example :

o the user wants to install the FileZilla FTP client

in french

o the french documentation ZIP file is in the same

directory than the EXE installer file.

The user select a french installation, so the french documentation is selected for installation by default. To avoid the download of the documentation (for example if the user is currently off-line, or if the user is a system admin who needs to install FileZilla on several PCs), the user need to activate the "local directory" checkbox and set the directory where the requested ressource (ZIP file) is. This is not very user friendly...

The installer should so modified to :

1) first, look in the current directory to see if the

ressource

is available;

2) if not, try to download the ressource.

Thanks for the great work. We are about to deploy filezilla in our school, but there is two bad things which stop us :

• The quickconnect bar only support ftp. It should

support sftp (and the 2 others).

• The quickconnect save all the info used to the xml

file, it's very annoying and dangerous. Saving password should be done only when user wants it (IE in the site manager)

When I minimize FileZilla to system try, I dont get any information about connection status. It would be great if system try icon changes color when disconnected/connecting/connected(/transfer/idle) or show balloon tips if connected/disconnected etc.

One feature I miss from WSFTP was the ability to choose the default action for a double-click on a file. You could choose between transfering the file (as is currently implemented in FileZilla), or simply opening it for viewing editing. I check my log files every morning, and often just want to see a file's contents rather than download it, so for me, view, not transfer, is the preferred default double-click action. I also thing that transfer is the more "dangerous" action, so having it as non-default means I have to think for a fraction of a second more before I up/download a file.

fixing bad (LAN) passive mode ips as a per site setting. Because only some sites makes bad pasv answers.

Filezilla should replace the given pasv ip with the serversip. This should only be an option, since this "bad" ips are needed for fxp, which should also be implemented ;)

The default retry delay should be 60 seconds, not 5. With such a short delay many sites ban you for hammering.

Currently, the local tree view can't display local network structure. How it can do so in the following release. Thank you.

Could it be possible to map a FTP site as a network drive. There are shareware programs that do that like Internet Neighborhood?

A parameter for each site should be added to specify the umask value (example 002). After connected, filezilla should send the ftp command "site umask 002" (with 002 that is example if user has configured his site profile with umask=002)

This is required for thoose who wants to have their file to have a particular group, user permissions automatically, according to the site profile, with no need to change permissions on each file after a transfer.

I really like FileZilla, but the one thing I miss from LeechFTP is the toolbar buttons to quickly switch between ASCII/Binary/Auto. I realize I can do this from the "Transfer -> Transfer Type" menu, but toolbar buttons would help me out a lot, and it seems like a fairly simple enhancement.

I would like SSH with Kerberos /GSS authentification. I have to use SSH to get through the firewall and I have to use Kerberos/GSS authentification to get on the system.

Together with "Use multiple connections" in Queue menu, another "check option" "Use speed limit" to obey or not the speed limits set in the configuration, for downloads and uploads.

Would be nice to have my Windows "favorites" links available in local directories, or the "Links" folder on the desktop--easier navigation.

I would think that it would be good if FileZilla could (optionally!) automatically ignore certain filenames when uploading. These files would for example be:

• CVS directories
• thumbs.db (thumbnail file automatically created by

I currently use serv-u because you can setup groups for different area's of your ftp and just add the gorup to the user's you want to access the restricted area's. Currently its impossible in filezilla to add a user to more then 1 restricted section.

Very useful feature for web developers doing work on Windows, but uploading to Unix servers - the necessity to force remote file names to lower case during transfer.

A simple check box in the File Transfer option would be great - I always use the force to lower case, saves a lot of heartache and time, going through the remote file system and doing it manually.

quota for users or folders would be great. So i could say for example user alex can have at max. 50MB in all directories. Or quote per directorey including subdirectories when more users have access to the same dir. This is very important when you are a webhoster or wanna give people imited disk space. Because windows support for quota sucks :D

up and download traffic in the logfiles per user would be very so. In w3c or some other common format. Then it would be possible to make stats with wevalizer, awstats and other common tools.

The client supports ssh2 and it would be nice if the server also supported SSH2, SSL, and so forth.

I miss a synchronization feature between local and remote directories. The one that FTP Voyager has is quite nice.

One thing I've seen in other FTP clients is the option to overwrite where the filesize is smaller or larger. This is useful in conjunction with the option to download based on "last updated" date. Sometimes file transfers will break and the client's error detection will fail. Having the option to overwrite based on filesize is also good when files on the client have been changed, but you still want to overwrite them with files on the host side. Sometime, files on the host will have a newer "last updated" date than on the client, without having actually been changed (they were only touched), and therefore overwriting based on date causes a lot of unnecessary transferring and overwriting.

I've read through the last 100 or so feature requests, and this hasn't popped up, (though I imagine it has been requested before). This would be a great feature for us windows users, as it allows us to forget about the local tree view and use explorer (from run) to find the directory listings were interested in. Although the most recent versions have enabled drag and drop into filezilla, this is only really half way effective, (as again, it does not remove the necesity of the local tree view).

I love the program, and use it, but this is the sticking point for many other users in my communities.

I've told them that one of my favorite filezilla features is the involvement of the developers, and the community. Thanks, I hope I can see this implemented in FZ3!. I'm dying to see it released.

It would be great to have an icon demonstrate that a SSL connection has been made - much like the padlock icon that appears in HTTP browsers.

There should be a right-click/context menu in the remote treeview as there are in the local treeview and both file lists.

I'd like to see this feature implemented in FileZilla. It should go with the site manager. When adding a new site, the user would have the option to specify a default local and remote path for that site only. For example:

SomeJobSite (ftp.whatever.com) -> Default local path: C:\Coding -> Default remote path: /home/someuser/httpdocs

SomePrivateSite (255.255.255.123) -> Default local path: C:\ebooks -> Default remote path: C:\FTP\SomeUser\Uploads\ebooks

I am the technical director here at Verisign responsible for the development of a plug-in to IE, Outlook and Outlook Express to provide support for IDNs ("International Domain Names") As part of our development effort we have packaged an open source C library that can be integrated into application such as FileZilla. This completely free library provides all the necessary encoding/decoding required when taking a domain name in non-ASCII characters and converting it so that DNS can understand it.

Companies such as SmartFTP (www.smartftp.com) and CoreFTP (www.coreftp.com) have taken this library and have integrated it into their products with others currently under development.

With Netscape, Mozilla, Firebird and Camino now also support IDNs natively based on the suggestion of a collegue I am posting this request. IDNs are now being offered by most of the major gTLDs as well as ccTLDs.

IDNs being supported in dotCom and dotNet they are now also supported by the following ccTLDs: dotNo, dotSe, dotDk, dotDe, dotCh, dotCn, dotHk, dotJp, dotKr, dotTw, dotVn, dotCc and dotTv. Shortly dotLt, dotInfo and dotAt will also be making IDNs available in their respective markets.

Attached to this message is our SDK which can be reviewed for suitability of purpose. Unfortunately the attached ZIP file includes both our Java as well as C implementations so you'll need to sort through to pick out the pieces of the C lib.

Finally, we have set up an external FTP Server to faciliate testing and I would be pleased to provide suitable information should it be of value.

If FileZilla is opening a remote folder, but I want to open another instead, it should automatically cancel opening the first and open the second. At this time, it just beeps at me and finishes loading the first.

With this feature, whenever a user click Refresh, Filezilla would highlight all the files that have been changed since the last refresh. This includes new files that are uploaded to remote site. An example of this implemetation can be seen in SmartFTP.

Altough most Dutch speek Englisch; is it possible to get FileZilla in Dutch ?. I am looking for a good FTP program for my father.

If someone provides me with a list of "FileZilla words" I'll translate them.
