The Site Manager doesn't remember the default Remote / local Directory parameters for a given site. Basically if you set the default local directory and/or the default remote directory parameters then exit the site manager. The next time you enter site manager and try to exit you will get a message stating "Default remote oath cannot be parsed. Make sure it is valid and is supported by the selected servertype." It occurs when the servertype is set to default (Autodetect). |

#4380 | Queue Numbers | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I'm trying to create a utility for creating an XML file from a excel file for import of a queue setup in FileZilla. I've got everything but the remote server path. Example: If I try and transfer images in an Images Folder all the images get sent to the root. I can't figure out how to create folders and the folder structure used by FileZilla. I exported a queue I created with filezilla to see the xml source and there are strange numbers used Example: <File>
For the RemotePath why is there a [ 1 0 11 ] also before the folder CSS why is there a [ 3 ] ? why wouldn't the path be simple like: public_html/CSS/ |

#4383 | Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
FZ Version 3.2.3.1 The message "Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted" appers in the log and creates the impression that the llink is terminated. Nevertheless the active tranfer is continuing and (usually) completing without any problems. It only/mainly happens with large files, mos probably when the transfer exceeds a certain duration. Log attached. non specific information: (information might be helpful even if it is not accurate enough) appears somewhat since version 3.2.x where x might be 2 or 3. I can't tell this for sure, but it happens somewhat since about 2 weeks. It did not habppen before. I am using FZ already since a long time and did not have this issue before. When I upgraded (which I usually do close to any new version) about 1-2 weeks ago this error appeared. |

#4385 | Can´t drag any file from my remote folder to my computer | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | worksforme
Description |
I just installed Filezilla client 3.2.3.1. I installed no additional icons, no language files, shell extension activated, desktop icon activated. Whenever I drag and drop any file from a remote folder into my Desktop it shows this error: "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window." And then it creates an empty folder called "fz3-12385240204210". The folder name varies. Both options are wrong, I did install the shell extension and I'm dropping the files into the Desktop which is an Explorer window. I also tried to drop the files into another folder and it didn't work. |

#4389 | Queued files transfer status not accurately reported | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
When more than one file is dragged from the local site to the remote site and uploads are started immediately, the "Queued files" tab only shows that 2 files are being transferred (as seen by the progress bar and elapsed time) even though more than 2 files are actually being transferred. My test used 5 files at one time. Monitoring the server, I can see that all 5 are being moved at the same time and not just 2. |

#4390 | Screen res & background pic changed when updating | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
Upon launching my previous version of the FileZilla client today, I received a message to download an updated version. I did this, and then proceeded to install it. However, upon initializing the installation, my Windows screen resolution was altered from 1280*1024 to 1024*768. Also, instead of the desktop background I previously had, I now have a black background. I am unable to successfully revert my resolution back to 1280*1024 as well (have not attempted a reset at this point). |

#4393 | Not all sites connect | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
After update from FileZilla 3.2.3 to FileZilla 3.2.3.1 there are some connections who don't work anymore, downgrading to 3.2.3 again doesn't make a difference anymore it's also bad... The version before 3.2.3 also had the same problem. So the upgrade to 3.2.3 was very welcome cause I really need the not connected sites... Gives the errors Connection lost ; Can not connect to server. A little second notification of me is that you used new icon's in 3.2.3, they are changed into the old ones if updating to 3.2.3.1 Greetings, Trace7r. |

#4394 | When using SFTP mode with a passkey, FileZilla always asks for a password on every upload | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I connect to a SFTP server where I have to use a secureID to generate a unique password. I create a site profile in Site Manager. I set "Servertype" to "SFTP-SSH File Transfer Protocol" and logon type to "Ask for Password." I put in my username and leave the password field blank. When I log into the SFTP server, FileZilla asks for my password. I put in my secureID-generated password and choose "Remember my password for this session." Once I'm logged in, I try to upload a file, and FileZilla says, "Authentication Failed, Critical Error, Could Not Connect to Server" and asks me for a password again. I have to put in a new secureID-generated password to continue. I have to do this every time I upload, which does not make sense. I have tried other FTP clients and they remember the password for the session. Please investigate this. |

#4399 | Open menu item does not work properly | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
The detection method used by the "Open" menu entry when right clicking on the Local files list seems to be flawed. On video files associated with Video Lan Client it reports: The file 'E:\folder\file.avi' could not be opened: No program has been associated on your system with this file type. Double clicking the video files in Windows explorer or Total Commander works and VLC opens the video. For other extensions unrelated to Video Lan Client, like .txt, .doc, .pdf it works properly. The OS is Windows 2003 Standard, 32bit. I'm willing to run debug versions of Filezilla, just let me know. If it helps, here are some registry entries: HKCR\.avi\(Default) = VLC.avi HKCR\VLC.avi\(Default) = VLC media file (.avi) HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\(Default) = Play HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\Play\(Default) = Play HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\Play\command\(Default) = "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --started-from-file "%1" |

#4401 | Speed to a crawl | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
With the latest version 3.2.3.1 I found an issue with specifically uploading to Limelight networks. llnw.net (must have an account with them.) Uploading files found that the speed of upload would slow down to 1k after an initial burst. A 5mb file will upload approx 200k and then slow down to as low as 1k per second. I let the 5mb file upload and it took over 45 minutes to finish. I am on a dedicated T1 and testing the speed I show 1.15Mb/s download and 1.00Mb/s upload speed. I tried from multiple connection locations and different service providers with the same result. I checked with Limelight for issues on their end and found nothing. Initially 4/3/09 thinking that it may be net related I waiting till today to test again with the same result 4/6/09. The tracert to the server showed no significant slow down. Finally I tried a different FTP client and had no issues with the alternate cleint. |

Even asking to open this file, FileZilla opens the file from the wrong (folder11) folder. |

#4403 | Receiving "Response: 550 Failed to open file." on certain file names | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
The unix file system that our FTP server runs on allows for some very terribly named files. Although some FTP programs allow these names, FileZilla seems to have an issue with some. When attempting to download the file called "test33_PRHP01ELIG.TXT\ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ \ " This happens: Status: Starting download of /nfs/lan/temp00/ora_utl/test33_PRHP01ELIG.TXT Command: MDTM test33_PRHP01ELIG.TXT Response: 550 Could not get file modification time. Description |
I have configured my ProFTPD correct for working behind a firewall. So MasqueradeAddress and PassivePorts is set. Also a normal not encrypted connection is working in pasv-mode without any problems. But using FTPES with TLS-Encryption always failed. There are several descriptions that this is a known bug and should be fixed in future Filezilla-versions. But now i am using a "future-version" 3.2.3.1 and it is still not working. :-( Here the output from the connection: ==================================== Status: Auflösen der IP-Adresse für mydomain.mydyn.de Status: Verbinde mit 84.60.43.26:21... The Use synchronized browsing checkbox doesn't appear to be bound to anything. Synchronized browsing works appropriately for new bookmarks by setting it in the dialog, but changing it for existing bookmarks doesn't seem to have an effect, and it always appears unchecked even if the bookmark was created with it and it works. #4407 | After successfull connection attempt the server fails to send the list of files | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | rejected
Description |
First, the problem does seem to occur randomly, but often since the version 0.9.26 or so. I'm using the version 0.9.31. The server gets the connection attempt by the client, seems to reply correctly, until the client requests the filelist. The client never receives the list, and a timeout is the consequence. Heres a short log of a client who encountered the problem: answer: 150 Connection accepted answer: 226 Transfer OK command: MDTM fenster.png error: connection timed out error: directory could not be received On my side (the server): (000001) 24.03.2009 17:17:42 - (not logged in) (93.212.190.161)> Connected, sending welcome message... It also doesn't seem to be related to specific FTP clients, as we tried it with several, including the FileZilla Client. Sometimes it works quite well, so I suppose it has nothing to do with my personal firewall on my computer, or the NAT/firewall of my router (port 21 TCP is configured, and as I said, sometimes it works really well). In earlier versions this problem never occured, but I don't know the exact version with which I the issue began. |

When clicking on site manager the Error pops up: Site Manager already open The Site Manager is apened in another instance of FileZilla 3. Do you want to continue? Any changes made in the Site Manager won't be saved then. and "NO" and "YES" buttons. Yes opens the Site manager but nothing will save. I have looked at the settings and the .Filezilla folder is on the remote server instead of locally on the machine. Is there anyway to point the folder? or a fix for this issue? I am able to go to the sitemanager.xml on the server and put info in the xml it will appear in the site manager but it will not accept any new connections, and i have users who are always updating settings. |

FZ was showing all files modified 1 hour later than real. WORKAROUND: Login at least once on the server, this will update .bash_history. Fixed. Probably until the next time switch in October. |

#4450 | Directory Comparison feature not fully finctional. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
See attached screenshot. In the image, it shows the popup for the directory comparison feature. Yellow and Green both seem to function OK, although Green is a bit pointless, as the file that was transferred will always be reported as 'newer' than the original. More importantly, the filesize difference, which is the far more critical indication (of an incomplete upload, for example), does not seem to show at all. In the screenshot, note the file highlighted on the left. There is a size discrepancy between it and the corresponding file on the right, but there is no indication of this on the screen. I did an upload the other day where I sent several hundred large files, and there were a number of them that uploaded incompletely. Was very time consuming to go through them item by item to spot the ones that were not complete. Thanks! Great app overall. -Thomas- Version of FileZilla is 3.2.4. I found the bug on an older version, and downloaded the latest one to see if it still exists, and it does. |

#4462 | Downloaded new update, now directory listings don't show. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | invalid
Description |
I've been happily using Filezilla for over a year now with no problems. Just an hour or so ago 4/27/09 I downloaded the latest update you sent. Now nothing shows up in the directory listing. It is connecting just fine, but no directory listing, even though the message says directory listing successful. I've changed nothing but downloading the new update. Any suggestions? |

#4463 | Cannot download or upload into UTF 8 named directorys. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
I found a bug in FileZilla client 3.2.4. I connect via SFTP to my university server. This server is a linux system and I access this server with Samba at Windows XP. When I create directories with special chars (e.g. German Umlaute ÄÖÜß), then Windows can read the directory names correctly, but Linux reads the name wrong because it is not decoding the UTF 8. So "Ãbungsblatt 1.pdf" is actually "Übungsblatt 1.pdf". But that's not the problem. The problem is, that if I have a directory which is named e.g. "Ãbung 1" (this is the linux-filesystem name!), then I cannot download something from this directory. Some file actions like rename or uploading are working, some file actions doesn't work. Probably, FileZilla can only handle ASCII directory names. A log (German): Befehl: cd "bbb" Fehler: Directory /home/d.marschall/public_html/Informatik Bachelor 2 (SS 2009)/Techniken der Programmentwicklung/Ãbung 1/bbb: no such file or directory Fehler: Verzeichnisinhalt konnte nicht empfangen werden Please look at my screenshot. |

#4464 | Hidden file silently overwritten | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
When the option 'Force showing hidden files' (which should be in the View menu btw) is turned off, FileZilla will overwrite hidden files on the server without asking for a confirmation, even when confirmations are set to 'Ask for Action'. If I turn on the option 'Force showing hidden files' FileZilla behaves as expected. I feel this behaviour is undesirable. Even though the hidden file cannot be seen in the file list, doesn't mean it should be overwritten if it exists. I am using version 3.2.4 of FileZilla Client. |

#4468 | Password Change Problem in Server | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | rejected
Description |
Situation #1: Multiple user accounts with multiple passwords. Want to change the passwords slightly. What happens: If the same password is kept but the case changes on the letters - the server does not seem to update the password. (So abcd1234 -> ABCD1234 does not seem to change.) Instead, I have to change it to something like "a" and then change it back to "1234abcd". Situation #2: If I change the password for someone but keep the same length, the password doesn't change on the server. What happens: If I have abcd1234 and I change it to 1234abcd - it does not change. (Fix - same as above.) Situation #3: If I remove the server from a system and then later on re-install it, the old settings are retained. However, they are not shown (ie: There are no accounts shown). If I try to recreate the accounts the server will sometimes say "That account already exists" even though it is not there - or - the account will have the old password. Possible Solution: Since I'm not one of the people who are working on this project but since I do debug lots of programs; my best guess is that the server is not actually deleting the account information either when it is uninstalled or when the administrator says to delete the accounts. (I know - kind of obvious! :-) ) Anyway, just upgraded to the latest release earlier this week. (0.9.30). Almost forgot: When the "X" is clicked on (Windows OS version) this kills the server. Could there be an option to not kill the server and instead just close the dialog? Can't tell you how many times I've accidentally clicked the "X" instead of the "-". :-) |

When connecting to 1 ftp server I receive an error after it logs me in that it can not retreive the directory listing. See Attached. I am currently running 3.2.4.1 It only occurs on my WAN. On my cable modem at home, it connects and transfers with no error. I spoke with our network data center and they are showing no "backtalk" from the firewall or the remote server. This has always worked until I loaded your software update about a week ago (version before this one). When I use my MAC to connect, It has no problems. No problems with DOS or Windows explorer. |

#4472 | Sumary status onm selected files/directories is wrong if multiple selection is used | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | fixed
Description |
The summary status on number of selected files / bytes is wrong (too many files) if multiple files are selected using CTRL, SHIFT+CTRL keys. once wrong, the status stays wrong until a single files is selected. Also the sum of file sizes is wrong. It looks like a file is calculated in two times if it was selected using CTRL+left mbutton if CTRL+SHIFT+left mbutton is pressed to extend the selection. The wrong behaviour exists both for local and remote file selections. Example / how to reproduce:
Example attached (see ..._ex1.png) Additional info: The problem always starts when you use CTRL+SHIFT+MOUSE. e.g. select single file 1, CTRL+SHIFT+click file 5 shows "6 files selected", although only 5 are selected. if I continue to CTRL+SHIFT+LMB click alternating on file 1 and file 5 there are still only 5 files selected, but status grows by +5 files (and their size) everytime I do this. Example attached (see ..._ex2.png) |

#4483 | FTP Server on local network - Replace 3 times | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Hi, Our FTP server is on a local network, so when I FTP files there, they go really fast, not sure if that's the cause of the problem. Basically every time I drag-drop a file to FileZilla to upload to the FTP server, it asks me 3 times if I want to overwrite the existing file. The first time it actually displays the old file size and the new, but after that I'm overwriting identical files twice. This is very annoying just having to click the ok button multiple times, but even worse when moving multiple files, I can't tell if all were moved successfully because I keep getting a bunch that say failed and that are getting moved multiple times, so the counts are off, and they aren't actually failing. |

#4505 | file exists | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
Hi, When uploading a group of files & subfolders to an empty folder, I got several times (not only during the same upload) the message "file exists". This is not possible as I just did a drag and drop to an empty folder. It seems that the same file could be queued several times. Olivier |

#4507 | Recent servers list save's passwords unencrypted | Bug report | critical | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
Recently I found out that Filezilla saves the passwords of recent visited servers in an unencrypted file: recentservers.xml Making it really easy to steal the passwords as soon if you have access to the computer. This is in my eyes a security threat that should be taken care of. PS: a little thanks to "Smash" who told me of this bug on the forum of my hoster. |

#4512 | Filezilla client over ftp proxy | Bug report | high | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
since the last 3 versions of filezilla client we experience that if we use an ftp proxy ( witch we are obligated ) to connect to the internet FTP servers that downloads from ftp servers resume over the actual filesize. Meaning that if you download a file of say about 300MB it doesn't stop at 300MB it always gives an error message at the end of the file concerning retry and it starts downloading the file from scratch. But it still gives the download completion as "> 100%" and this goes on and on untill you end the download. After enough searching I stumbled on the fact that it was related to Filezilla client. I tried the same setup with another software like Core FTP LE and there the file just ends at his size and is saved. Can you investigate this, |

Description |
Just download a zero byte file. In my case, I put a zero byte file in the root of my site for Google indexing: GOOGLE*.html and when I tried to backup my site, the file was not created on my local disk, and the file was placed into the failed transfers. #4514 | accents in french not recognised now | Bug report | low | FileZilla Client | rejected
Description |
When I try to open a file without accent, there is no problem. When a folder has an accent, it's possible to go as far as the file required, but then it becomes impossible to take it from the FTP to open it. When I use internet Explorer 8, there is no problem. But when I use Filezilla I get the message 550/data/Administration/information ÃlÃ"ves (this represents élèves in French) |

#4515 | Port change doesn't take effect until FZ client restart. | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
I use filezilla to connect to a FTP server (NAS drive) in the office LAN. Sometimes we change the port that the NAS FTP Server hears. These are the steps:
I have only tested this in a local FTP server with 2 devices (a Lacie NAS and a Freecom NAS). I have not tried with a server in Internet. Best regards, and thanks for your software, from Spain. |

#4517 | file list not being updated | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Server | rejected
Description |
after creating a user and assigning a folder to that user, we add files to the folder. When the user logs in for the first time through the FTP client there are no files or folders listed. This happens through the firewall as well as locally on the same intranet with no firewall between the client and server. I can delete the user account and recreate it with the same home directory and the next time the user logs in with the FTP client the files show up. It seems to be an issue with Filezilla not showing updates to a folder after the user is created. We have connected with the Filezilla client as well as Windows Explorer client. |

Description |
FileZilla client does not appear to interpret large directories correctly. Instead of showing the correct date it will show an erroneous date like 1/1/970. This only appears to be happening on larger directories that are 15 meg in size. Windows XP SP3 Version: 3.2.4.1 Build information:

#4519 | Occassionally doesn't stop downloading | Bug report | normal | FileZilla Client | outdated
Description |
This was posted years ago, but was listed as closed and fixed years ago also. Occasionally, when downloading a file, it will reach 100%, pause, then continue downloading. I also noticed the possibility listed that the server could be sending out the wrong file size, but I have also set up my own FTP server and was able to replicate the problem. In this instance, the file size reported was correct, just a couple megabytes, but continued to over 5 gigabytes. |
