#1277 | can't multitask/browse & upload different dirs | normal | 17 years | 17 years
Description |
in 2.2.32 and previous versions, when files are being uploaded in the queue and you are looking at one directory, you can't browse to another directory and upload those files to appropriate places. for instance, local:/www/jimm/i/a.gif-->remote:public_html/images/a.gif local:/www/jimm/i/b.gif-->remote:public_html/images/b.gif local:/www/jimm/i/c.gif-->remote:public_html/images/c.gif local:/www/jimm/p/a.pdf-->remote:public_html/pdf/a.pdf local:/www/jimm/p/b.pdf-->remote:public_html/pdf/b.pdf local:/www/jimm/p/c.pdf-->remote:public_html/pdf/c.pdf local:/www/jimm/v/a.mpg-->remote:public_html/video/a.mpg local:/www/jimm/v/b.mpg-->remote:public_html/video/b.mpg local:/www/jimm/v/c.mpg-->remote:public_html/video/c.mpg I can go to the next directory down (..) but I can't browse up anywhere. the program prevents it. |

#9452 | can't maintain connection, duplicate connections? | normal | outdated | 10 years | 9 years
Description |
I've made no changes to FileZilla. PC is clean of viruses/malware per a full scan. Trying to download current website content in prep for monthly updates. Filezilla pauses then restarts, but after a few iterations of this gives the error message: "421 Too many connections (8) from this IP" The full listing is: Waiting to retry... Resolving address if hbartleague.org Connecting to 74.124.197.191.21... Connection established, waiting for welcome message... 421 Too many connections (8) from this IP Could not connect to server My host checked on their end, and noted that if their server wasn't clearing connection, it'd crash soon. Kinda makes sense. Their only suggestion was to reinstall FileZilla, suggesting that a config file has become corrupted. Is this my only option? |

#3511 | can't handle long file names | low | rejected | 16 years | 10 years
Description |
When dragging files with long file names (or folders containing them) in 3.0.10 from a ProFTPD host to a Vista client, they are added to the cue, but not copied. (No error note is shown.) It's a problem solely in FileZilla, Vista itself can handle those file names without problems. So the workaround is, if one knows about this bug: rename the files to shorter file names, copy them, rename them back. Outside of FileZilla, because it cannot even rename them back on the Vista client. |

#10657 | can't drag filename with percent symbol ("%") between panes | normal | fixed | 9 years | 9 years
Description |
On Linux (issue does not affect Windows), attempting to drag a file from the local to remote pane does not work if the filename has a percent symbol ("%"). For example, if you attempt to drag a file named test%20test.txt from local to remote, nothing happens -- no message is appended to the message log; no item is added to the transfer queue. This issue is especially problematic when the user highlights and drag-and-drops multiple files, as they may not notice that not all of the files they selected get queued. If the user instead right-clicks on test%20test.txt and selects "Upload", the file is uploaded normally. |

#3915 | can't delete remote directories with 3.1.4.1 | normal | worksforme | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
Hi there, right clicking on a remote directory, choosing "delete" and answering "yes" to the following question deletes all the files in a remote directory, but not the remote directory itself (which I think it should). Same thing happens if I'm using a keyboard command. The directory is still there--even after restarting filezilla. So this doesn't appear to be a caching problem with the client. |

#6523 | can't copy or delete files on my server anymore | high | fixed | 13 years | 13 years
Description |
When connecting Filezilla with my FTPServer I can download all files, but I can't upload new ones or delete them. by pressing the delete botton it asks me if I want to delete but after clicking "yes" and refreshing the files are still there. When selecting a file to upload and clicking the "upload" botton nothing happens. I use FileZilla client version 3.3.5.1 and no antivirus or firewall is running. |

I have no problems with SFTP using SSH. When I attempt FTP over SSL (or TSL) with explicit encryption in passive mode, I get partial uploads and zero byte uploads. This is a critical failure of FileZilla, which I have hitherto loved. Tested with the Aug 21 release. Bug not present in the first version I use 3 years ago on windows XP. -- When client connected to the FTP, impossible to send/download files. The error message on the console is "530 sorry account already used, connexion to server impossible" I have to add the files I want to send/download to the transfer list, then disconnect from the FTP, and process the transfer list. I dont know if it's a problem from my internet provider (orange, france) or from the software. _ First excuse my english and I am only a user. Then I don't know if I use the good method tu report a bug. I search in the wiki/forum and in the present section but this bug does not seem to be reported. Plus I have to say that it is not easy to report problem, but maybe I don't use the good way to. -- Thanks for considering. |

#898 | bad upload of file shorter than previous version | normal | 19 years | 18 years
Description |
Hi there, not sure this is a filezilla problem but I at least want to report it. FTP client used: Filezilla 2.2.13c (WIN2000) FTP server used: Serv-U FTP-Server v2.5i for WinSock When I upload a file I've uploaded before, but that is shorter than the version already on the server, I've now 2 times encountered that the chunk of text the old file is larger, just got appended to the new file. so schematically: new file: (local) a b c old file: (remote) w x y z results in new file (remote, after upload) a b c z I've had 2 occurences of such file during one transfer (in queue) of multiple files. When I reuploaded the same/unchanged files (by drag&drop this time) the problem was gone. PS: during manual upload filezilla warned me a file of the same file size was going to be overwritten.... that's all Koen. |

#5219 | bad timestamps handling | high | outdated | 14 years | 11 years
Description |
Hi I am working under Windows XP SP3 with filezilla client 3.3.2 I am extensively using the "Folder compare" feature of filezilla client and I am using the option to preserve timestamps when uploading files. After uploading a file on the box, filezilla client still says that the files are not the same. There is a 1 hour difference in the timestamps. I am connected to a remote linux box throught its sftp server The linux box is not on the same timezone as I am. I don't get this behaviour when I use an other sftp client like winscp so I guess this must be a bug coming from filezilla. Thanks for looking into this Regards, Philippe |

Annoyance level bug. I connect from a machine in PDT Timezone, to a server (Linux, CentOS) in same PDT Timezone. FileZilla shows my times are an hour different. Both machines report they are PDT. For some reason, I can see at the beginning of the session this calculation (which is wrong): Status: Calculating timezone offset of server... Command: mtime "alp3" Response: 1330985224 Status: Timezone offsets: Server: -28800 seconds. Local: -25200 seconds. Difference: 3600 seconds. #10052 | associated command failed | low | duplicate | 9 years | 9 years
Description |
I'm having trouble with editing of files. When I open Filezilla, and edit a file, no trouble. If I close that file in the associated application, then try to edit again through the Filezilla interface, I get an error that reads: "The file myFile could not be opened: The associated command failed." myFile is the actual path and filename of the file I'm trying to edit. I'm editing with Notepad++. If I close Filezilla, and reopen, this error clears, but the process starts over - it only effects re-editing of a file that has already been edited. |

#10526 | ability to connect to FTP server depends on IP address | normal | outdated | 9 years | 9 years
Description |
Home network, three computers. Desktop computer with FTP server connected to router via a wired connection. Two laptop computers with Filezilla FTP clients connected to router via wireless connections; one runs Windows XP and an older Filezilla client, while the other runs Windows 7 and has the latest Filezilla client 3.11.0.2. Everything is DHCP. Router dynamically assigned 192.168.0.101 to the desktop machine. Both laptop Filezilla FTP clients have entries in the Site Manager to connect to host 192.168.0.101. Both worked just fine for months and months. Following a recent power outage, router dynamically assigned 192.168.0.100 to the desktop machine with FTP server. Site Manager on the Windows XP machine was updated to point to 192.168.0.100, and it works. Site Manager on the Windows 7 machine was updated to point to 192.168.0.100, but sometimes it works and sometimes it does NOT work. When it does NOT work, the router has assigned the Windows 7 laptop 192.168.0.101 (the previous address of the desktop FTP server). When it does work, the router has assigned the Windows 7 laptop some other IP, such as 192.168.0.103 (the most recent time it worked). When it fails, the messages are "Connecting to 192.168.0.100", "Connection timed out after 20 seconds of inactivity", and "Could not connect to server". The automatic retry yields the same set of errors. Meanwhile, the FTP server on the desktop machine shows no attempt to connect from another machine on the home network. And the Windows XP machine has absolutely no trouble connecting. Speculation: something in Filezilla "remembers" that the FTP server used to be 192.168.0.101 (even though the IP was changed in the Site Manager), so when the router assigns 192.168.0.101 to the Windows 7 laptop, Filezilla tries to connect to "itself" and fails. When the router assigns 192.168.0.103 (or 102, or 104, or 105) to the Windows 7 laptop, everything works just fine. I suppose I could learn how to configure the router so that it forces a particular IP onto a machine and that would get around the problem, but it sure looks like there is a bug in Filezilla. |

#11000 | [gtk3] "Rename" gui issues when GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0 and there are scrollbars in the pane | normal | worksforme | 8 years | 8 years
Description |
using FileZilla package provided by my distribution, Fedora; it's compiled against GTK3 ... GTK3 has a new "overlay scrolling" feature which makes it so that scrollbars aren't visible until you put the mouse over the pane. This feature can be turned off by setting the environmental variable GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0. I have turned the overlay scrolling off in this way. in FileZilla, if GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0 and the pane has a scrollbar, the "Rename" function usually (if you try more than once, you will likely see the problem) does not produce the inline input box GUI (instead the file just remains highlighted). in reality, you can still rename the file by using the backspace button and typing characters, but you do so blindly as you can't see any of this is working (e.g. you can't see the characters you type) until you press enter and the filename is in fact changed. |

#10623 | [REGRESSION] Site manager window is huge and cannot be resized | normal | outdated | 9 years | 9 years
Description |
I opened the Sites Manager. The window is ridiculously tall, as you can see from the screenshot. It even exceeds the height of the screen, though fortunately the buttons are accessible (but what if my screen had been smaller?!?) What is much worse, the window CANNOT BE RESIZED. I tried to resize in the standard way as you do in Ubuntu. The resizing cursor does appear when you hover the mouse over the upper borders or corners of the window (the lower ones are outside the screen; note that if you were on mac you could only resize the window from the bottom), but clicking and dragging doesn't resize the window as expected. This issue has appeared after I upgraded from Ubuntu 14.04 to 15.04 (through 14.10). So this is a regression somewhere between whatever version was distributed with 14.04 and whatever version is distributed with 3.9.0.5 |

#11074 | Wrongly deleted local downloaded files while performing the deleting job on FTP server | high | rejected | 7 years | 7 years
Description |
It happened in both 3.22.2.1 and 3.22.2.2. I almost will use FileZilla client to do the photo-downloading job every day from my smartphone in which a FTP server app will run. After downloading finished, I then will delete all the source pictures in server. While the deleting-job is running, if the server app works fine, everything will be OK; if the server app is unexpectedly shut down due to the phone's power-saving mode or my quiting touch, the FileZilla client will give a error message in message log area such as "connection failed". In such condition, One or several downloaded and locally stored files will be modified: the sizes turn into 0, which means the file bodies are lost and only names are kept. And after the server app is re-run and connetion is re-built, the names of those 0-size files will show again in the transfer queue area, not the queued-files page, but the failed-transfers page, it seems the client wants to download those pictures again from server, but failed because they also have been deleted from server already. Then I have to face the situation: I lose these pictures forever because the source in server has be earsed and the local copies have been modified into 0-size. #3697 | Wrong/Unwanted driver information | normal | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
Brief setup explanation: On my web development setup, I have a server where all my work files are stored. Each project is its own folder in this server, and each folder is shared independently (the Projects folder isn´t shared). Then, on my machine (Windows XP SP2) I map these shared folders into VIRTUAL DRIVERS. This way, all my projects appear to be in HDs, whereas they are actually shared folders on a network. I can then LABEL these drivers (just like I can RENAME a real driver). All the drivers share the same REAL NAME (the server´s name), but Windows allows me to label (not rename, just label) them differently so I name each of them after the PROJECT NAME. FileZilla displays the DRIVER NAME (server´s name) instead of the DRIVER LABEL. So all my 13 virtual drivers are named the same in FZ, and I have to rely on Driver Letter to figure out which one is the one I need at the moment! Soooooo easy to fix! I was using an eval version of SmartFTP, and that little software gets the virtual driver label correctly, so a solution is attainable. FileZilla is the closest thing to SmartFTP in usability, and I see a LOT of potential in it! I would also like to participate in the development. |

Description |
Dragging and dropping folders on server from one location to another (but still on the same server) is a "move" operation. But the mouse pointer while dragging is adorned with the "[+]" indicator, suggesting that a copy operation will happen on drop. This is clearly misleading. Therefore: On drag&drop, the mouse pointer should reflect correctly the type of file operation that is going to be performed on drop: "copy" (mouse pointer with [+] indicator) or "move" (mouse pointer with [<box>] indicator). |

#5563 | Wrong filesize shown (2 GB for a file of 1.079.192 bytes) | normal | fixed | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
Hello, I recently wondered that a file that should be around 1 GB was shown as "2 GB" in the FileZilla Client v3.3.4.1. After downloading from the Linux/Debian server, the file also had "2 GB" on the local disc - according to FileZilla Client. However the Windows Explorer is quite sure that it actually only has 1.02 GB. If I change to more than 0 decimals in the settings, FileZilla shows a size of 1.03 GB. Therefore I guess FileZilla rounds up the filesize in a suboptimal way. BurninLeo |

Description |
I connect to SCO UNIX ftp server. I use polish version of FileZilla Client. Files/directories with modification date in October ('październik' in polish) have wrong name in server side view panel. I can't use this files/directories (get, open, ...). I think diacritical character 'ź' is the reason for this bug. Name of directory is: 'mounth day time realname', for example: 'paź 21 9:21 adm' (modification date of this file/directory is 21st October) Example of this situation you can see on attached picture. Sorry for my English. |

#3838 | Wrong display of Time/Date | normal | rejected | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
I am currently running the latest version of the Filezilla-Client and the latest Version of the vsftpd-server. Setup for vsftpd is set so "use local time", means, it should display the time and date on the server. After uploading a file with filezilla, the change/creation-Date and Time for the new or changed file is set two hours into the future. Trying the same with other ftp-clients like fireftp, smartftp, total commander etc, the changedate and time is displayed correct. I could change the Timezone and Setting for each Server within the servermanager, but due to the fact of summer/winter-time this is a bit annoying. Greetings Marcel |

#7803 | Wrong date - Same problem as Ticket #3698 | high | duplicate | 13 years | 10 years
Description |
Same problem as Ticket #3698 I get wrong date when listing the remote directory. sFTP on FreeFTPd ver 1.0.11 on win 2003 SP2 FileZilla Client is 3.5.1 running on windows 7 FreeFTPd is 1.0.11 on win 2003 SP2 From the log: Command: pwd Response: Current directory is: "/" Command: ls Status: Listing directory / Status: Calculating timezone offset of server... Command: mtime "2010-08-17" Response: 4294967295 Status: Timezone offsets: Server: 1293629340 seconds. Local: 7200 seconds. Difference: -1293622140 seconds. Status: Directory listing successful The dates listed in FileZilla is wrong. 2011-10-28 are listed as 1970-04-04. It can possibly be a problem in FreeFTPd, but WinSCP lists it correct. In WinSCP there is a switch "Misinterprets file stamps prior to 1970". This is set to Auto in my case. Would this be possible to implement in FileZilla? |

#10837 | Wrong context menu for file on recursive delete progress | normal | fixed | 8 years | 8 years
Description |
I realized that when it is clicked with the right mouse button on the files, on the server side list, when are removing folders in recursive mode on the server, is active the message "get into the folder" in context menu. But this option should not be possible since right clicking a file is not possible to enter the folder, since it is a file. The option that I believe is possible is to disable all the options from the right-click menu on this case (right click on file when recursive removing is in progress). |

#4798 | Wrong Italian translation in dialog for overwriting files | normal | fixed | 15 years | 10 years
Description |
When you start a file transfer and a destination file already exists, a dialog appears asking if you want to overwrite it etc. The dialog shows info about the SOURCE and DESTINATION files, to let the user compare them, but in the Italian translation they are labeled as LOCALE and REMOTO, which becomes plain wrong when you are downloading a file from a remote server to your local computer, becaus the remote file will then be labeled "local" and the local one will be labeled "remote"! The correct translations for SOURCE and DESTINATION should be used instead, i.e.: SORGENTE e DESTINAZIONE. |

Description |
If the user tries to upload a file to a remote directory that they don't have write access to, a dialog will pop up saying that the file in question already exists and prompting for actions in that case. Also, the file will appear in the directory listing until refreshed. This can be very confusing if the user doesn't realise they're trying to write to a write protected folder. Bug observed in FileZilla 3.0.0 under Windows XP. |

#11140 | WordPress wp-login.php is only transferred partially | normal | rejected | 7 years | 7 years
Description |
Hello. Since a while I encouter a bug with transferring files with Filezilla. I do not have this problem with other FTP programms (ie. CuteFTP pro), but I 'simply' prefer working with FileZilla :-) When I transfer all files from a WordPress installation from the (external) server to an EMPTY folder on my pc, most of the times the wp-login.php files is not being transferred. I get an error message (see attachment 1) "Target file already exists" (although the folder was empty when I started the transfer). When I click OK, the error message keeps coming back. When Ik click Cancel, all other files are being transferred. In the end, the transfer is 'hanging' for a while (see attachement 2), after which I again get the error message. When I click Cancel, I can see in the overview that the wp-login.php file has only been transferred partially (26 of 34 kB). It is quite annoying as in this way the backups I make are never complete. To achieve that I have to manually copy the original wp-login.php file from the corresponding wp version into the folder where my backup is and overwrite the 26 kB file. What is going wrong and what can I do to solve this problem? I am looking forward to your reply. Thanks for your help. Best regards, Monique |

#7347 | Won't reconnect after timeout (input_pushback not null!) | normal | duplicate | 13 years | 12 years
Description |
When connected to a server via SFTP, and it times out and disconnects, FileZilla doesn't automatically reconnect when selecting a remote folder in the folder tree. Instead, it gives an 'input_pushback not null!' error, followed by another error: 'Failed to retrieve directory listing.' Clicking on yet another folder will force a reconnect. It's just selecting the first folder that gives this error. It used to work fine, but has been broken for 6 months or so. |

#5020 | Windows: FileZilla update uninstalls previous version | normal | rejected | 14 years | 14 years
Description |
When FileZilla updates on Windows automatically (latest update was to 3.3.0.1), it uninstalls the previous version first. This is annoying, because the startmenu sorting is broken afterwards when sorted alphabetically. It also forgets the folder "Local site:", which needs to be set again manually after an update. The NSIS installer should be changed to just overwrite what needs to be overwritten without uninstalling the previous version first. |

#9589 | Windows explorer crash after installation | normal | outdated | 10 years | 9 years

After several years of satisfaction of an excellent product, I found the following issue in the last version: It makes Windows explorer crash when clicking right button (Win 7 32 bit) , with the following result (from event log): --- Nombre de la aplicación con errores: Explorer.EXE, versión: 6.1.7601.17567, marca de tiempo: 0x4d6727a7 Nombre del módulo con errores: ntdll.dll, versión: 6.1.7601.18247, marca de tiempo: 0x521ea91c Código de excepción: 0xc0000005 Desplazamiento de errores: 0x0001f9e2 Id. del proceso con errores: 0xbdc Hora de inicio de la aplicación con errores: 0x01cf8cac208c6a5f Ruta de acceso de la aplicación con errores: C:\Windows\Explorer.EXE Ruta de acceso del módulo con errores: C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\ntdll.dll Id. del informe: 79185d62-f89f-11e3-a81c-eca86b715b7e --- It makes crash with right click is used on any file. And I found that only when uninstalling AND deleting the following files BY HAND, the issue disappears: --- fzshellext.dll libgcc_s_sjlj-1.dll libstdc++-6.dll libwinpthread-1.dll --- In fact, I selected "Uninstall " and after process finished, it asked to reboot. Upon restart, the directory where the program was installed is full with all the files, and the issue persisted. I manually deleted all the files, but the previously mentioned were not deleted, indicating that they were used by Windows. I had to reboot to the option "Safe mode with command prompt" in order to be able to delete the files and directory. Then, after a check with CCleaner, one key remained in registry: --- ActiveX/COM Issue InProcServer32\ C:\Program Files\FileZilla FTP Client\fzshellext.dll HKCR\CLSID\{DB70412E-EEC9-479C-BBA9-BE36BFDDA41B} --- And it was deleted manually too. All the above procedure was made TWICE, because after the first time, I reinstalled the new version, hoping that it has been only a defective installation but it has not. I hope that it is corrected for the next version because it is a very useful tool. Thank you in advance. |
