#12668 | Cannot select SSH keys for pubkey auth on Linux with KDE | normal | fixed | 2 years | 2 years
Description |
Hello, I am trying to SFTP to another box on my network. The workstation I am using is Kubuntu 20.04.4 LTS, x86_64, fully patched. Kubuntu uses KDE, and includes Filezilla 3.46.3-1build1. My network is setup for public key authentication only. All machines have the following: $ cat /etc/ssh/sshd_config.d/10-pubkey_auth.conf # Disable passwords PasswordAuthentication no ChallengeResponseAuthentication no KerberosAuthentication no KerberosOrLocalPasswd no GSSAPIAuthentication no UsePAM no # Enable public key PubkeyAuthentication yes I have my keys in $HOME/.ssh. I use them all the time for SSH and SCP: $ ls ~/.ssh authorized_keys id_dsa id_ecdsa id_ed25519 id_rsa known_hosts config id_dsa.pub id_ecdsa.pub id_ed25519.pub id_rsa.pub When I try to SFTP to a box with Filezilla, I am getting tripped up because the UI does not allow me to select a private key in the Browse for Key File dialog. The private keys are missing from the selection: The dialog also does not automatically select the private key based on a selected public key. (I have to select a public key because that's the only thing displayed). I don't know if this behavior is specific to Kubuntu, or if it is present in all Debian or Ubuntu derivatives. (This is my first time using Filezilla). |

#1222 | Cannot upload entire folder/directory to remote server | normal | 17 years | 16 years
Description |
I've used FileZilla for a while now and have never experienced anything like this. FileZilla will allow me to connect to my remote server just fine, it will allow me to transfer files (txt, html, php, gif, jpg, etc) over to my remote server just fine, but when I try to grab a whole folder/directory it does nothing. I used to be able to just grab say and "images" folder with lets say 10 images files inside the folder from my local machine, drag the whole folder over and that's it. Now when I try to do this very same thing it's like FileZilla doesn't even recognize that I'm doing anything. It doesn't come up and tell me that anything is processing, or going through, just sits there. I just reinstalled a clean copy of windows (fully patched and updated) on my machine today because of this problem (thinking it had to be something with my machine) and that did not solve it either. I AM using the newest version of FileZilla. I also have FileZilla in passive mode too. I would really appreciate any assistance I can get with this! |

#4385 | Can´t drag any file from my remote folder to my computer | normal | worksforme | 15 years | 15 years
Description |
I just installed Filezilla client 3.2.3.1. I installed no additional icons, no language files, shell extension activated, desktop icon activated. Whenever I drag and drop any file from a remote folder into my Desktop it shows this error: "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window." And then it creates an empty folder called "fz3-12385240204210". The folder name varies. Both options are wrong, I did install the shell extension and I'm dropping the files into the Desktop which is an Explorer window. I also tried to drop the files into another folder and it didn't work. |

Description |
Doing an FTPES connection to WebDomainNow.com (with any random username and password) gives a "Unknown certificate" message which says that the certificate expired in 01/01/1970 !!! Is the certificate faulty, or FileZilla ? By the way, this is the same certificate mentioned in bug #5693 so it's possible that those code changes caused the problem. #780 | Change password does not work in 2.2.9 | normal | 19 years | 17 years
Description |
If I try to change password with server\change password reports that odl password is not correct. If I try chmod works fine. This is because Filezilla adds quote on begining and end of paasword phrase. Exp. chmod passold passnew - this is right, but filezilla sends to server chmod "passold" "passnew" - wrong. You have to sent without quotes. Then works. |

#195 | Changing netware servers (and downloading files) | normal | rejected | 22 years | 9 years
Description |
When logged into a netware server it is possible to also access other servers in the same tree. This is done with the command CD servername/volumename/directoryname/ etc. etc. Filezilla removes the first / and sends /servername/volumename/directoryname/ which of course fails. Some way to override the default behaviour so that the other servers can be accessed is required. |

#4261 | Character encoding bug | normal | rejected | 15 years | 10 years
Description |
Create a folder named "パーソナル" (without the quotes) on a server using the SJIS character encoding (japanese). (Mostly Microsoft Windows Japanese-hosted) In the remote directory tab, it will display correctly. However, in the remote tree list and in the log, it displays as "p[/i" (without the quotes). It is possible to enter into that directory, but any operation done within it produce a bug - creating something in it creates it in the parent directory, it's impossible to download files that were put in there by another user, etc. |

#3346 | Check for compiler version only works with gcc | normal | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
In the configure script shipped with FileZilla 3.0.4, line 19659 reads:
However, most non-gcc compilers don't have a --version flag, so this results in "Unknown version" being displayed in the "About FileZilla" dialogue box if $CC != gcc. For HP-UX 11.11, the closest I could get for HP's ANSI C compiler was:
But then the same command on HP-UX 11.23 and 11.31 doesn't work (the output from 'what /usr/bin/cc' is completely different - there isn't even a line with a 'Compiler' string in it...). I don't know what the solution to this is - my gut feeling is that, say, Sun's own C compiler on Solaris might have similar issues. Maybe it's best just to not include the compiler version and do a "uname -a" or something similar and have it as "Build system: " line. |

#11109 | Check for update fails to apply the update. | normal | worksforme | 7 years | 7 years
Description |
I have always had a problem getting updates to apply after "Help->check for updates" downloaded a new update. I believe I have figured out what is causing that, though. When I start FileZilla, I usually go ahead and connect to a site immediately using "File->Site manager". Then later, after I finish what I am doing I do the "Check for updates" or the program itself may notify me there is an update available. After the update downloads, it almost always fails to install on its own. This time though, I tried to apply the update BEFORE I connected to a site and the updated applied successfully. At this point I can't go back and try it again without uninstalling FileZilla and intentionally installing an older version, but I wanted to pass this along to you for investigation. This has always been a troublesome problem for me. I like to use FileZilla. It works very well. Thank you. |

Filezilla client v3.64.0 under Windows asks me to update almost every time I launch it, because there's a new version available, but: 1) Check for FileZilla updates automatically is set at "NEVER". 2) It doesn't even know what the new version is and only shows "Unfortunately information about the new update could not be retrieved." #3331 | Checkbox logic of "Always" actions if Target already exists | normal | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
Transferring a file with the same name as one existing at the destination will trigger the "Target file already exist" dialog. In that dialog, there are three check boxes: Always use this action Apply to current queue only Apply only to downloads I think that when the user clicks one of check boxes 2-3, checkbox #1 should also become selected. In Filezilla 3.0.4, this doesn't happen, and checking #2 or #3 without checking #1 has no effect on subsequent items in the queue. |

#5252 | Click to rename files | high | outdated | 14 years | 9 years
Description |
Hello, I am a Filezilla 3.3.2 user on Mac OS X 10.6.2. When I am sending my files to a remote server I click and drag them to the right side of the window and release the mouse button, so far so good. When I am sending just one file, that's when the mess happens: All files are unselected, OK? I click in one file and the line get's a blue background. When I click again (and hold) to drag the file to the other side of the screen, the line changes to rename. So far, no damage on my files. If I don't do anything, the cursor stays there, to rename the file, if I click outside, it gets renamed OK. If I click up there to order for filename, filesize or last modified, the file (for renaming, with a cursor for type waiting) stays in the same place on screen, it doesn't go to the place it was supposed to go, stays in front some random file that was ordered there, if you click outside to stop the renaming... I AM SURE THAT THE FILE THAT IS BEHIND, ON THAT POSITION GETS RENAMED TO THE NAME OF THE FILE I WAS RENAMING, AND THIS FILE (THAT I WAS RENAMING) GETS DELETED FOREVER! I lose a lot of files for this matter. You can do this to make sure (I just did). 1) Create 5 files: 1.txt, 2.txt, 3.txt, 4.txt, 5.txt, put them in the same directory, open them and just put a number on the file and save them. Then we get: 1.txt = 1. 2.txt = 2, etc... 2) Now open Filezilla and locate the folder. We get this: 1.txt 2.txt 3.txt 4.txt 5.txt Now click ONCE on 2.txt to select this file, then click again on 2.txt (the cursor to rename appears). 3) Now click on filename (up there) to reorder by filename DESC. The screen is now like: 5.txt 2.txt (to rename) "4.txt is behind this" 3.txt 2.txt 1.txt 4) Now click outside. The 4.txt file just vanishes and if you open 2.txt, what's inside? 4 Now imagine this with a big web system, a lot of files missing and a lot bad renamed. I think it's a pretty serious bug because I use a lot the "Last modified" column to order, to make sure to send the files that was last modified. Sorry my bad english, it's not my primary language. |

#13052 | Client 3.66.4 Uninstall fails to clean up after itself | normal | worksforme | 3 months | 3 months
Description |
Original issue was that I had FileZilla displaying on 2nd monitor attached to my notebook. Thereafter, without 2nd monitor attached, FileZilla displayed at the extreme right edge of the screen and I was unable to drag it over. This is the kind of situation a clean reinstall should resolve, but after uninstall, reboot, and reinstall, the problem persisted. I had to go through Windows registry and delete every FileZilla key I could find to resolve the issue. Then it displayed correctly upon reinstall, but another problem appeared, as reported in bug #13048 "new Bug report". I was getting "error loading the transfer queue from "C:\User\patri\AppData\Roaming\FileZilla\queue.sqlite3". This required uninstalling again, then deleting the FileZilla folder at C:\Users\userAppData\Roaming\. After another uninstall, reboot, reinstall, finally everything working well. |

#12162 | Client build fails on aarch64 because of incomplete putty source | normal | fixed | 4 years | 4 years
Description |
Building the FileZilla client fails on aarch64 as observed on OpenBSD/arm64, but the problem is generic and should affect all Unix-style operating systems on aarch64 (64-bit ARM). ld: error: undefined symbol: platform_aes_hw_available
... Linking fails because the functions
are undefined. The problem is in the included putty source. On aarch64 (#if HW_AES == HW_AES_NEON), the missing functions are called from sshaes.c, sshsha.c, sshsh256.c. In the original putty source, they are provided by unix/uxutils.c. However that file was omitted when the putty source was included in FileZilla. Simply adding putty's unix/uxutils.c and adding it in Makefile.am will fix the problem. |

Description |
When you edit files while a queue is being processed, there is a rare chance of having two dialogues open at the same time, cancelling each other out. That's because when you edit files, there is a chance of the "Selected file already being edited" dialogue popping up. After this dialogue shows, a second dialogue can pop up, asking the user whether to overwrite an already existing file, since the queue is still running in the background. This results in a freeze, since neither the dialogues nor the main program can be closed anymore. |

Description |
Using client 6.6.02, Win 7 Pro client machine. target machine is Red Hat Enterprise server. SFTP. Filezilla reports errors when it needs to create a directory. it then creates the dir OK, and then reports errors on a file upload to the new dir. Then uploads file OK later. The errors appear to be spurious but continally demand cross-checking that files did actually upload. These errors are consistent and completely repeatable. They are not random upload errors as might normally occur. Log excerpt below. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. Other FTP clients do not do this in exactly the same situation - same machines, protocol, SFTP user etc. All the best folks. |

I had the transfer settings set on Overwrite by default. I was downloading several files and folders from a webserver. I realized I had already transfered one folder over, so I moved it into a "finished" folder on the remote server (using remote desktop) without removing it from the FileZilla client's queue. When FZ 2.2.22 got to those files, it wrote 0 bytes over each one (eg. because the client was opening them for writing, and the server was responding that the files weren't found?). That is how it appears anyway. |

Description |
I had an old version of Filezilla (2.1.12?) and used the menu Help/Check For Updates to upgrade :- 1) This downloaded FileZilla_3.2.7-rc3_win32-setup.exe from sourceforge. 2) I uninstalled the old version using the uninstall option in the program folder. 3) I ran the new .exe file to install. 4) Running this new version said that there was a later version to install, so downloaded this. This was a file called FileZilla_3.2.7_win32-setup.exe. 5) Trying to install this however, fails. Running any Filezilla exe file now just starts Filezilla itself. This includes the uninstall program (from the program folder or directly from the file). 6) I now cannot run several programs, as Filezilla client starts in the place of them. An initial list (but not exhaustive) is below :- Run/cmd (DOS command line window) Control panel/Add/remove programs Notepad Windows Media Player Calculator 7) Some programs start alongside Filezilla, eg Firefox. 8) The only program (so far) that runs alone is Microsoft Outlook. I have a logfile at debug level 3, but it is empty as no processes have been carried out within Filezilla itself. I notice that a download from filezilla-project.org now downloads from cloudfront.net. Please, is there a patch for this? |

Description |
When connected to a client's ftp site(a fortune 100 company), I often can't successfully download or upload files. The process gets 95-100% complete and then puts up a pop-up 'target file already exists' when it tries to restart. If I choose 'Overwrite', the same thing happens again. Sometimes, usually with smaller files (< 10MB), filezilla works. The windows command line client always works. I used to use LeapFTP and it always worked. I'd like to move to FileZilla but 50% of the times I need an ftp client, it is for this site. What kind of traces can I get for you to help figure this out? Unfortunately, the site is restricted so I don't have a way to tell you how to recreate the problem yourself. |

#11409 | Close FileZille Once not working | normal | fixed | 7 years | 7 years
Description |
Hi I asked for a new feature which I understand you had included in the new release I downloaded today. I.e. when updating a large file / files I wanted fZ to close itself afterwards automatically. However after setting this option FZ kept closing itself. The new feature would allow FZ to be set to CLOSE ONCE only. I tried it out now and could not activate any of the options in the drop down menue. I.e. only NONE works. Small bug I am sure. Hopefully this will be fixed asap as this new feature is GREAT and will be used by me and others a lot. |

#12881 | Close tab X icon is huge | normal | fixed | 15 months | 15 months
Description |
The X icon (close tab) in any given tab is HUGE. It used to be tiny, but now it's nearly as tall as the tab itself. It seems to have happened within the last few stable versions, though I don't know exactly which one. I first noticed it in January 2023 and thought it would be fixed in a later update, but it hasn't changed. In Settings, I have tried adjusting the theme and theme scaling, but that didn't affect this icon. I've also tried different interface layouts and gone through every setting I can find, but no dice. Steps to reproduce: Open multiple connection tabs, look at X icon on tabs. |

#10615 | Closing tab button doesn't work | normal | outdated | 9 years | 9 years
Description |
When you have at least 2 tabs, there is a little cross on the right side of the tab, presumably to close the tab. But when you click on it, it doesn't work. The tab can be right clicked to be closed. Steps to reproduce : Open two tabs Click the cross to close a tab Expected : the tab closes Bug : nothing happens. Gif of it in action: https://i.imgur.com/7Z6JVI7.gif This bug is present in Filezilla client version 3.12.0.2 on GNU/Linux plateform (Archlinux). I can't reproduce it on Mac OS X. This bug was first reported two years ago (https://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/8889) with Awesome WM, now I'm using BSPWM, and the bug is still here. Regards, ~k |

#1230 | Colon in directory name not replaced | normal | 17 years | 17 years
Description |
When transfering a directory structure from an FTP sever which supports colons (:) in file and directory names to a Windows system, the colon in file names get replaced by a _, but colons in directory names do NOT get replaced, resulting in the error "Could not open the local file <filename>" and "Download failed" when trying to transfer. |

With version 3.0.0: Downloading files with colons in their names from environments that allow such things to an environment like windows that does not results in unexpected behavior. Reproduce: Have four files named '4:30.jpg' through '4:33.jpg', and try transferring them to a Windows machine. The result will be a single empty file with name '4'. |

#1135 | Color choice makes it hard to see status | normal | 18 years | 18 years
Description |
In the progress bars that appear when uploading/downloading, it appears that the windows "highlight" color is used for the bar itself. The percent (as text) seems to be using the windows foreground color. When the highlight passes over the text, the text seems to to white. The problem with this is that if the user uses a light color for the highlight, it becomes difficult (if not impossible) to see the text. Ideally, if the highlight color is used for the bar, then the Windows foreground color should be used as the text. (The idea here is the user will have already picked colors that have good contrast.) The rule here should be that if using a color from the windows scheme for one part of a control, then windows colors should be used consistantly throughout the rest of the control. |

#4817 | Column separators not visible in file browsing windows | normal | outdated | 15 years | 15 years
Description |
In filezilla 3.2.2.1 x86-64-pclinux-gnu build date 20090227 compiled with gcc 4.3.3 with flags -g -O2 -Wall -g -fexceptions from the ubuntu repos, the two filebrowsing windows' column bars, those draggable bars to reveal more or less of the file name, modification date, filesize, filetype etc are not visible. I can still mouse over where they should be and click and drag them to reveal more or less of a filename though. |

#4849 | Columns on remote server do not display properly if reordered | normal | fixed | 15 years | 15 years
Description |
In FZ 3.2.8 under WinXP SP3, if I right-click on the remote server's column headings (the gray area above the current directory's file listing that reads Filename | Filesize | Filetype | etc.), check all six boxes, then use the Move Up/Move Down buttons to move Permissions to any position other than the fifth, the column headings move as requested, but the data in the column do not. So, for example, if I exchange Permissions (which was originally in fifth position) with Last Modified (which was originally in fourth position), the Last Modified information shows up in the new Permissions column (which is now in fourth position, where Last Modified was before the exchange), and the Last Modified column contents (now in fifth position) are blank (except for the header). Also, sorting of the date-last-sorted data in the "Permissions" column no longer works properly. Restoring the column headings to their original positions fixes all problems, but of course this defeats the purpose of having the column heading portability feature in the first place. |

I can login to ComCast but it flatly refuses to "LIST" the files. Maybe an active/passive issue. FZ 3.1.5.1 I had the same problem with 3.1.1.1 WS_FTP_LE, NotePad++, FireFox FTP work fine. This only is a problem FTPing to/from ComCast. This is a FZ issue, other FTP clients work fine. I can use FZ to contact GoDaddy and 1and1 with no problem. #3488 | Command Connection Timeout kills running Dataconnection | normal | 16 years | 16 years
Description |
Filezilla-Client: 3.0.9.2: PASV-Mode On long-term single-file Data-Connections for up/download, the Command-Connection may time-out. Thats OK. The Bug is: This brings down the actual PUT of a really huge file. But in the case of a running upload/download there is no need for a open command-connection, FileZilla should detect the time-out and show it on screen, but dont bring down actual up/downloads!
