#4399 Open menu item does not work properly Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

The detection method used by the "Open" menu entry when right clicking on the Local files list seems to be flawed. On video files associated with Video Lan Client it reports:

The file 'E:\folder\file.avi' could not be opened: No program has been associated on your system with this file type.

Double clicking the video files in Windows explorer or Total Commander works and VLC opens the video.

For other extensions unrelated to Video Lan Client, like .txt, .doc, .pdf it works properly.

The OS is Windows 2003 Standard, 32bit.

I'm willing to run debug versions of Filezilla, just let me know.

If it helps, here are some registry entries: HKCR\.avi\(Default) = VLC.avi HKCR\VLC.avi\(Default) = VLC media file (.avi) HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\(Default) = Play HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\Play\(Default) = Play HKCR\VLC.avi\shell\Play\command\(Default) = "C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" --started-from-file "%1"

#4404 No TLS-Encrypted connection possible Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I have configured my ProFTPD correct for working behind a firewall. So MasqueradeAddress and PassivePorts is set. Also a normal not encrypted connection is working in pasv-mode without any problems.

But using FTPES with TLS-Encryption always failed. There are several descriptions that this is a known bug and should be fixed in future Filezilla-versions. But now i am using a "future-version" 3.2.3.1 and it is still not working. :-(

Here the output from the connection: ====================================

#4412 Navigation Bar no longer viewable after upgrade to 3.2.3.1 Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

I upgraded to 3.2.3.1 yesterday and then uploaded a page. My navigation bar is no longer viewable. I find that even when I reload a page with a previously viewable navigation bar (and have not made any edits to the page), that page is also without a navigation bar.

Have you heard of this problem before? I couldn't find anything in your tickets or wiki.

I am working on a site which was constructed using FrontPage (I apologize) and has .asp extensions.

#4470 Server connection Problem Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When connecting to 1 ftp server I receive an error after it logs me in that it can not retreive the directory listing. See Attached. I am currently running 3.2.4.1

It only occurs on my WAN. On my cable modem at home, it connects and transfers with no error. I spoke with our network data center and they are showing no "backtalk" from the firewall or the remote server. This has always worked until I loaded your software update about a week ago (version before this one). When I use my MAC to connect, It has no problems. No problems with DOS or Windows explorer.

#4473 Mac UI Cocoa complient Feature request low FileZilla Client invalid
Description

Will someone in the know please make FileZilla Cocoa compliant. The UI looks terrible (same as the old Windows versions). Two thumbs up for whoever was involved in updating the icons and overall look of the Windows version - it's great. I use Windows at work and Mac at home. The Mac version is ugly (sorry, it could be prettier)!

Overall, everyone who makes FileZilla possible is doing an excellent job. I wish I could code.

#4500 Edit file uploads to wrong folder Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description
  1. Download a file.
  2. Right click on downloaded file and select edit.
  3. Navigate to a different remote folder.
  4. Edit and save the file.
  5. Filezilla offers to upload the file. It goes to the new folder, without any way to change back to the original one.

Expected result: Upload the file to the folder it came from.

Workaround: 1. Select "No". Navigate to the correct folder and upload manually.

  1. Remeber to navigate back before saving the file in your editor.
  2. Edit/view the remote file instead of the local one. (But the connection may drop.)
#4514 accents in french not recognised now Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

When I try to open a file without accent, there is no problem. When a folder has an accent, it's possible to go as far as the file required, but then it becomes impossible to take it from the FTP to open it. When I use internet Explorer 8, there is no problem. But when I use Filezilla I get the message 550/data/Administration/information ÃlÃ"ves (this represents élèves in French)

#4534 auto scroll for site manager quick list Feature request low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

It would be helpful if the up and down arrows on the site manager quick list could auto scroll when the mouse is over them rather than the current click to scroll down or up to the next item.

#4543 Scroll Bar in Site Manager Feature request low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

*I've attached two files to the ticket.

Problem: I have a problem with the site manager drop down. I have so many sites that the drop down extends beyond my screen's resolution, which is fine since I can then click and hold on a little gray arrow icon near the bottom of the list. However, the scrolling takes forever, and isn't really natural... If I want to scroll backup I have to move my mouse to the top of the list and click and hold on a different arrow icon.

Solution: Implement a vertical scroll bar in the site manager on the right hand side!

please see attachments for the original problem, and mock-up of the proposed solution

#4587 Editing of files is very cumbersome compared to another software Bug report low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Dear Sir/Madam, I donwnloaded the free File Zilla from your website and also, for comparison, the shareware trial version of Smart FTP.

Whereas the process of uploading files and deletion of files is quicker in File Zilla, Editing of files is very cumbersome.

On the other hand, Editing facility in Smart FTP (e.g. automatic opening of .html files in Notepad and .css files in Microsoft Frontpage) is good. Best Wishes Prof (Wg Cdr) Gulshan Kumar Director, B-School

#4663 My file will not upload/transfer Bug report low FileZilla Server outdated
Description

I use Windows XP. I am using verson 3.2.6.1 My files will not upload - they stop midway through and declare themselves "Failed files". I have been trying since yesterday - repeatedly. My host is ftp.forefactor.com I have deleted numerous files so that there will be room for the files to transfer. They are very large WAVE audio files (approx. 322,000,000) I have re-booted and re-started. The transfer seems to be very slow. There is a flashing red light at the bottom right hand corner of my screen (I thought this was supposed to be green).

When it fails it says the following: It disconnected from the server. Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

Previously, when it disconnected, the file continued to transfer. I do not understand why it completely disconnects now.

Please advise.

#4666 Force hidden files option does not work in windows XP Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Hello There,

Using windows XP pro SP3 Filezilla version: 3.2.6.1

The server > force showing hidden files does not work properly for me (no files showing). I've tested using a linux version and everythings is fine there. Actually the windows version I have sends "226-Options: -l" to the server where it should send "226-Options: -a -l".

Thank you for looking into this.

#4692 Remember file exists action Feature request low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I would like Filezilla to remember a previously set file exists action.

For example, let's I have a queue with three files in the queue. One is set to over-write if the file exists, one to resume and another to rename. If I close Filezilla and then restart, the queue should remember the settings I picked for each file, rather than re-prompting for each one.

I'm guessing this would be a simple flag which could be saved in the queue.xml file.

#4695 Extended delay starting client Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

There is an extended delay of around 1 to 2 minutes starting the client. Attaching a process monitor (logs attached) it can be seen that the process is trying to open the locale directory by traversing the hard drive. When the "locales" directory in c:\program files\filezilla is renamed to "locale" there is no delay.

#4708 Windows "Open With..." list in Local Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Greetings,

Excellent application, but it's really painful not to be able to right-click local files and open them in my favorite applications. The "Edit" command usually starts the wrong application. What is needed is "Open With..." dialog like in other Windows apps. Or at least "Explore this folder" to open the folder in Windows Explorer (so I can use it's context menu).

Here's how to display standard "Open With..." dialog for file named "filename" in Windows:

ShellExecute (0, "open", "rundll32.exe", "shell32.dll,OpenAs_RunDLL filename", NULL, SW_SHOW);

For more details about "Open with" dialog check out this article: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/192352

Thanks for your time and for making this fantastic application.

#4716 Can't drag files onto filezilla Bug report low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

This seems like the weirdest problem to have. I've been shown that its a simple drag n drop, but i can't drop my docs onto filezilla. This is keeping me from moving forward with my website. Is this a firewall issue? I have Mcaffe on my computer. Let me know if seeing the docs simplifies. Hope this is a simple solution. Thanks, Jill

#4756 Command sent for keeping the connection Feature request low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

As I see, there is not chance to define which command is used for keeping the connection. I'm also using the "total commander" and it's FTP client functionality. There I can set the command to "NOOP", which does - as the command implies - nothing, but traffic. I think it's the best command for keeping the connection.

#4764 Anonymous option for logon prompt Feature request low FileZilla Client worksforme

#4807 Site manager->advanced settings->remote directory does not support names with dots (.) anymore Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Just installed the latest version 3.2.7.1

"Site manager->advanced settings tab->remote directory input" does not support names with dots (.) anymore. It says "Remote Directory path cannot be parsed" This message is totally erroneous. It should let us enter whatever we want, and not perform validation. Furthermore, a lot of us can't tell what the underlying OS is...

For instance, I need to access the folder: ftp://server.com/example.com

I can't type "example.com" which is the subdirectory in which I need to go. Even when I select the "Unix" dropdown options.

Thanks for looking into this.

#4819 Upload keeps failing on charset conversion and blocks process queue Feature request low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Problem:

While trying to upload files I get the following error: Error: Failed to convert command to 8 bit charset

FileZilla then keeps trying to upload the file every 20 seconds, resulting in the same error over and over again, blocking the entire process queue.

Suggested Solution:

move transfer to failed transfers, and possibly build a feature that certain characters automatically get replaced (should be a user specified setting of course). Either way, please make sure these failed transfers don't stall a 4106 file upload at 0.1%

System info:

FileZilla version: 3.2.7.1 System (client) info: Windows Vista SP1, Pentium Dual Core T4200 (Dell Inspiron 1545) System (server) info: Linux based NAS (Synology DS107+)

Here's Ticket 849 that was closed and said to be fixed 2 years ago:

For example, my linux server uses UTF-8 as a default charset, and my WindowsXP laptop uses CP949 (EUC- KR) as a default charset. There should be some charset conversion for FileZilla client to get files with correct names, and FileZilla should be able to cope with conversion failure.

#4841 Wrong routing when downloading some exoticly named files Bug report low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

I had an occasion where the remote filename was .\www\automate\LISTE.csv, and it created a local folder ./www/automate/LISTE.csv to accomodate it...

I agree that Windows wouldn't like to welcome this file as is, with that filename that is, but putting it into another folder is worse. Maybe a middle solution could be negotiated? Like replacing unauthorised characters with '_' or ?

#4899 Site Manage Drop Down Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

I consider this a bug, but you may consider it a 'feature request'. Here is the break down of what happens.

I have many many sites saved in the Site Manage, when I click the down arrow on the Site Manage icon, I have a list so long that I can't see any of the sites past 't' in the list.

There is an arrow on the top of the list, but not on on the bottom to scroll down the list.

For sites below 't' I have to go into the site manager and click connect.

Not a huge deal, but I would LOVE to see a version update that included this feature/bug fix. As it would make my life a tad bit easier.

ctrl-pgup/ctrl-pgdn should also switch tab, per Windows convetion

rolling the mousewheel over the tab bar should also switch tab -- not convention, but used in a few apps and very useful :)

#4975 Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle / not working Bug report low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

These two toggles (Remote and Local Directory Tree Toggle) are located in the top bar under the Main Menu Bar. They both have a weird behavior. Both were OFF upon start.

The weird behavior appears as soon as the tabbed interface is activated or a little later on while using it.

This behavior is characterized by:

  • Clicking the button indents it (visual active state) but the panels for remote directory/local directory tree do not appear.
  • The buttons do not respond to any further requests once in this state.

I am using the latest version of filezilla (updated 10 min ago.)

I have restarted filezilla and the buttons work again until I create a new tab. Unless now only the "remote directory tree" is affected by the bug. The local directory switch works properly. Then I create a new tab once again and both toggles work properly again. Then again I leave one tab open (the tab-panel disappears) and create a new tab - the problems appear again.

Truly a strange thing.

#5017 Download stop randomly without any reason Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi,

Since the 3 last versions (3.3.0.1, 3.3.0 and 3.2.8.1), from time time, when I download from my server (Ubuntu Desktop 8.04) a list of files, the download stops without any error message and without reason. I just do a right click, then uncheck 'Traiter la file d'attente' and then recheck and the download restart until it stops again at a later time, on the same file or not. I was unable to focus a type of file, a file size or something.

I never have this problem with the 3.2.8 and previous versions.

Description

Hello I am running windows 7 and was using version 3.2.8.1 which was working OK, then I upgraded to 3.3.0.1 and it ran after the upgrade. But after closing the program, I always get the message missing mingvw10.dll and please reinstall the program. The mingvm10.dll is in the FileZilla folder. I have tried to reinstall the old version and now I have the same problem. I have to reinstall the program to get it to work one time.

Any Ideas?

#5050 Filezilla abandones files with zero length after trying to upload Other low FileZilla Client invalid
Description

I decided uninstall filezilla. It seems to be irresponsible software. While cute ftp insists untill the file is totally uploaded, Filezilla when encounters some difficulty in the connection, simply abandones files with ZERO length in the server side because it tryied to create new file but had problems in the connection.

I can not continue using a software that leaves zero length files in the server side when something happens to the connection. I use Cute ftp because it is more eficient.

#5145 Uploaded/downloaded file count in Transfer Queue Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Currently the Transfer Queue only has three tabs: Queued files, Failed transfers and Successful transfers.

However, when doing a sync, files get listed in successful transfers list regardless of the action (skipped or transferred).

It would be nice to be able to see those counts. Maybe a new coulmn in the Successful transfers tab called "Action" where you could see (and sort using that column) if and which files have been transferred and which have been skyped. It could possibly list the reason why it was detected as different (diff file size, source file newer etc.)

#5153 Unable to find mingwm10.dll Bug report low FileZilla Client fixed

I re-install 3.3.1 and it works - once. Then I have to go through this process again. Why is this happening?

I use Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 with all updates applied except Service Pack 3.

#5156 "Selected files/folders" counts wrong when using Ctrl+Shift Bug report low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

When selecting multiple files or folders using Ctrl+Shift in the local or server file browser, the number of Selected files/folders is shown wrong. It seems that the real number of selected files is just added to the previously displayed number of selected files.

Example: Selected 3 files e.g. using Shift (FZ displays "Selected 3 files."). If you go on selecting 2 more files with Ctrl+Shift there are 5 files selected but FZ shows "Selected 8 files." (5 real + 3 form before). Go on selecting 2 more files, FZ shows "Selected 15 files." (7 real + 8 thought from before). And so on..

#5230 Umlaute, Sonderzeichen in File-Names Feature request low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

#5268 Speedmeter while Upload is very lazy Bug report low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Hi, I am using FileZilla on Windows 7, I was transfering many files to my FTP Server. Mostly small files, but few big ones. After all small files are transfered one of the Big files left. The Speedmeter isn't korrekt from that moment. Its as small as while the Uploadbandwith ist divided by multiple transfers, but now there is only one. In my taskmanager i can see that the full bandwith is used, but not showed in the Speedmeter in the Filezilla transferlist. It's growing but slow! I think you have to improve the calculation of the actual Speed, if there are big differences in short time.

#5310 "Empty directory" when not connected Bug report low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I am running FileZilla 3.3.2.1. I have the default pane layout with "Remote site" on the right hand side. When not connected to a remote site, either after startup or after disconnecting, the status bar (is that the correct word?) under Remote site displays "Empty directory." This text implies that a certain directory is targeted but that it does not contain any file to display. In my view that is incorrect, because there is no directory that this refers to. It would be better if the text read "Nothing to display" or "No files to display".

#5317 UI Issue: dragging files shows either the wrong mouse icon or carries out wrong action Bug report low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

Currently dragging a file to a subfolder shows a mouse icon with a "+" symbol next to it and the file is moved - however in explorer this means that the file will be copied to the subfolder

In filezilla (in the remote pane) either the icon is wrong (and it should be a normal mouse icon) or the action is wrong (and the file should be copied not moved)

Minor but hope this helps

#5370 Subversion Icons Feature request low FileZilla Client wontfix
Description

It would be awesome if FileZilla could display Subversion (SVN) icons when inside of a local SVN directory. A lot of work we do has us uploading files to a SVN server. When everything functions fine locally we'll upload files which have been marked as updated, then commit to our SVN server. If we could view the icons inside of FileZilla, it would be much nicer than dragging and dropping the highlighted files from Explorer to FileZilla.

TortoiseSVN updates the appearance of icons in Explorer, including save as and open dialog windows. It might be easier to hook into the Explorer API when displaying local icons than to fully integrate an SVN library.

#5375 SetAsyncRequestReply called to wrong time Tim Kosse Other low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

I am attempting to transfer tens of thousands of files, totaling over 50GB to a SFTP server. They all show up in the queue and everything starts out OK.

After transferring approximately 1GB of data, the transfer stalls. It happens both with lots of small files, or one giant file. I have tried with a maximum of one upload and also with two simultaneous uploads and the result is always the same.

The problem seems to revolve around the negotiation of a new key.

The server is running ubuntu 10.04. The client is running Windows XP Pro SP3 (with FileZilla 3.3.2.1).

#5379 Critical Servr Error Bug report low Unknown rejected
Description

Hi. I have found this kind of bug here yet there was no solution.

After installing FTF registry entries from my servwer, entering the right data of the server and port name, experimenting with the the options in site manager menu (passive upload, proxy avoidance, anonymus user) - nothing has worked.

Here is the exact message of several attempts of connecting to my server

#5383 multiple concurrent uploads fail with SFTP Bug report low FileZilla Client rejected
Description

This may be related to this bug:

http://trac.filezilla-project.org/ticket/3477

Two years old and long since closed, but this appears to be the same (or a similar) issue.

Uploading multiple files in multiple folders, over SFTP, with multiple concurrent uploads (5 is my setting), doesn't work with all servers.

The problem is, the client makes no intelligent decisions about the order in which uploads are processed.

That is, if you're uploading "folder_a/file_a" and "folder_a/file_b", the order in which these happen to occur, is unpredictable - it depends on whether or when a thread happens to be available.

So when "file_a" begins to upload, the folder is created - but if at the same time "file_b" begins, and assumes the folder has been created, but the previous request didn't complete yet, it will fail.

#5453 pause the transfer queue Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

the stop/resume transfer queue (the "Q" icon) works, but what about adding a "pause" button? pause means: complete actual transfer, then stop the queue.

#5454 Priority status of queue Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

Is it possible, without removing the item from the queue, to set a "Don't transfer" priority/status to a certain item, directly as option with a right click on the item in queue?

#5455 Order the columns of the queue section Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

The queue items are shown in columns: local and remote file, direction, size, priority, etc. It would be nice if you can sort the queue by a click on the column's title: click on "size" and items are shown in ascending order by size, another click and order is descending. It's only a layout request: order won't influence priority status.

#5560 Keep getting asked which action to take despite specifying it Feature request low FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

This is very similar to #4891, except this is on Windows using 3.3.4.1

FZ says "Target file exists"

And I say "overwrite if source newer" and also "always use this action".

FZ then keeps asking me anyway.

Please make this work properly - really, really annoying when dealing with lots of files, as I do throughout the day.

#5561 Reconnect button not working Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

The reconnect button on version 3.3.4.1 is not working

#5570 Server options settings copied to another machine not working Bug report low FileZilla Server worksforme
Description

Copied the "FileZilla Server.xml" and "FileZilla Server Interface.xml" to another computer, and the settings are not imported, just the user settings.

Original settings are from FZ 0.9.33 beta; new version is 0.9.36 beta.

The xml files does contain all info, but the new computer just doesnt recognise de server message, ip filters, etc.

Not even after stoppping service and restart. I will include here the procmon checking and writting the new xml file.

Any way, awesome program. Thank you. Adelino

Description

Please implement it in future. As usual, with 'support/require/do not check' options. And maybe an option to restrict each user/group to specific certificate.

#5643 "Check For Updates" Does Not Work When There Is A HTTP Proxy Feature request low FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I have to use a HTTP Proxy to communicate with the Internet; if I stop using the proxy and use a direct connection to the Internet, I cannot access HTTP via my Web browser.

Ever since I have had to use the HTTP Proxy, the "Check For Updates" cannot access the FileZilla information over the internet. Here is a log:

Status: Disconnected from server Status: Downloading /updatecheck.php?platform=i586-pc-mingw32msvc&version=3.3.4.1&osversion=5.1&osarch=32 Status: Resolving address of update.filezilla-project.org Status: Connecting to 62.75.138.232:443... Status: Connection attempt failed with "ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out", trying next address. Status: Connecting to 213.239.222.5:443... Status: Connection attempt failed with "ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out". Error: Disconnected from server: ETIMEDOUT - Connection attempt timed out Error: Disconnected from server Error: File transfer failed

However, when I access the URL "https://62.75.138.232/updatecheck.php?platform=i586-pc-mingw32msvc&version=3.3.4.1&osversion=5.1&osarch=32" from IE, which is using a HTTP proxy, I obtain a respose; here is the response:

nightly 2010-10-19 http://filezilla-project.org/nightlies/2010-10-19/i586-mingw32msvc/FileZilla_3_setup.exe sha512 365565943362ae605ae680c09c9260c1dbc915d11d63899700f304a85cb5090f0d257f9096e608bf1c731297ba843677d1d0b81d93cc829edfae4fbcdc7484a1 release 3.3.4.1 http://downloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_3.3.4.1_win32-setup.exe sha512 d4e0b0eaf4f3767e37df12063e7d79f74ac8005535e829b99e1feb0f0541c3343570fc892e020f99087d31de20d01e797d7476ab2cfd94c28a78d0e8b732e0cd

Can the "Check For Updates" be modified to use a HTTP Proxy, either using the one configured in IE or one configured separately in FileZilla?

#5662 Error - access violation / segfault in all menuitems if you double-change language Bug report low FileZilla Client fixed
Description

Filezilla client V3.3.4.1

I get an access violation / segfault:

The instruction at "0x00a1a8d9" referenced memory at "0xc80202e0". The memory could not be read.

It is 100% reproducible.

Steps to reproduce:

1) Open filezilla, assert that language is set to "Default system language" (otherwise do it and restart filezilla).

2) Settings -> switch to language English (en). Press OK

3) Setting -> switch back to language "Default system language".

Now nearly all calls to menuitems lead to this segfault.

This is no tragedy but I do want to mention it.

#5680 Dates not sort correctly Bug report low FileZilla Client worksforme

When viewing dates on the local drive, 11-10-10 appears before 11-3-10. This is because it appears to be picking up the first digit and not both, to correctly order the dates.

#5706 filezilla ftp client 3.3.5 download file size wrong Bug report low FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Downloading files from filezilla ftp server over FTPES, when I drag a file from the server file list to the client file list, if its replacing an old file, the file size is for the old file, not the one replacing it. This doesn't seem to always happen.

Both client and server are windows xp sp2.
