Extremely Slow Upload

I have been using this program for several weeks and
the uploads are extremely slow. Something has to be
really wrong for this program to be this slow.

I'm experiencing exteremely slow uploads as well.

While uploading, Filezilla seems to pause about every 500ms,
and then continue, pause, then continue, forever. The net
speed ends up about 18-20 kbytes/second. Downloading is
about 10-15 times as fast, with no noticeable pauses. I see
the problem with both ftp and scp protocols, to two
different machines on my LAN, when using filezilla.

For comparison, ncftp and scp get 6 mbytes/second between
the same machines, for both upload and download. This tells
me that something is very wrong with filezilla's download
speed, and horribly wrong with its upload speed.

Filezilla 2.2.16. Windows 2000 service pack 4. 100 mbit
ethernet.
