I agree with this suggestion
The inclusion of this feature is a must for this wonderful
program

comment:2 by phobie, 21 years ago

secure auth, implemented encryption or ssh tunneling and fxp
support are the most important features needed.

comment:3 by Alexander Schuch, 18 years ago

phobie: Please request only one feature per RFE.

FileZilla 3 (beta) supports SFTP, FTPS and FTPES, but still lacks FXP.

comment:4 by Alexander Schuch, 18 years ago

As suggested in:
[ 974729 ] Allow local filesystem to be another ftp server

If FXP cannot be establed for whatsoever reason (security), transfer the file from server A temporarily to local computer and then transfer it from local computer to server B.

As suggested in (now deleted) RFE:
[ 601218 ] Two Remote Views at the same time

FileZilla should be able to open two remote windows for the very same server, and (use an optimised approach to) be able to move around files and folders on same server.

yes please!!

Taken from the following, and now delete RFE, for a more explicit example of an FXP "emulation":
[ 1944714 ] not a FXP client but like

"I just want to tranfert automatically a directory an its sub-diretories
from my first ftp server to my second ftp server, by pass my computer,
because my servers don't accept FXP.

This is what I do manually :
1) I connect to my first server
2) I download a selected directory and sub-dirextories
and files into a temporary directory in my local computer
3) when it's done I delete on my fisrt server the selected directory and
sub-dirextories and files
4) when it's done I disconnect my first server
5) I connect to my second directory
6) I upload the downloaded directory and sub-dirextories and files
7) when it's done I disconnect my second server"

Still open, is the implementation impossible or not wanted in filezilla?

comment:9 by Hubert, 14 years ago

Pushing this one would maybe help the developers to find the good features to implement :P

By the way: Caching the files on the local computer like "ci-dev" suggested is not a good thing on windows computers and linux servers because file permissions would be lost.

Replying to ci-dev:

See related #4136 as well.

This is the only reason i still use FTPrush..

Filezilla is so much better! speed / connection wise. I don't get it why they wont make the perfect client..

Won't ever be implemented. Server-to-server transfers are incompatible with FTP over TLS.

Plaintext FTP should no longer be used.

Note: See TracTickets for help on using tickets.
