I have Filezilla server(0.8.5 beta ) set up behind my router. I'm forwarding a block of ports to it and I have Filezilla server set up to use those ports in passive mode.

When I try to connect with Filezilla client (2.1.9), I can connect, but the connection hangs on the "LIST" command. The PASV command returns a valid IP address and port combination (one of the ports I have forwarded).

If I telnet to the port indicated by the PASV command, I get the directory listing.

If I use WS_Ftp (or even IE 6 in pasv mode) I can get a directory listing just fine. LeechFTP however, hangs on LIST as well.

Each time you click on a user's name in the User Accounts Dialog is changes user to the next group. If you click again, it moves to next, etc.

This can cause incorrect permissions for accounts.

I recently wanted to transfer a filestructure that contained thousands of small files.

I believe filezilla failed to do that and I changed to flashfxp that correctly did this.

This bug has allready been posted, but I want to post another bug.

Also recently, whenever I logged my user account off, windows would fail to unload it after 60 seconds.

To repair it I wanted to dump my registry and create a new account. However, dumping also gave me an error. Part of the registry was dumped and it failed after the filezilla part. it was dumping the complete queue I was transferring a few weeks ago (covered 80% of what it had dumped)

Now I deleted the complete filezilla sub-hive and the computer started to do a lot of work. After doing this the problems were completely solved and now my account unloads within 5 secs.

There seems to be a huge Bug in 2.2 (or is it a bug in Windows?):

If I connect to a FileZilla Server 0.8.5 using FileZilla Client 2.2 I can create a directory on the server called "This is a testdir...". On the server the directory is now called "This is a testdir.." (with only two dots) and it cannot be renamed or deleted! You can't change into that directory with FileZilla Client and you also can't delete it using the client.

You now have an undeleteable directory on the server. Perfect for script kiddies.

Is there a bugfix/workaround for this behavior?

Hello! (sorry , my poor english) When using "SFTP using SSH2" to transfer an ascii text file to our Unix Solaris(5.9) server the file ends up with ^{M at the end of every line. The file was created in a windows 98 machine. In ours Linux Servers works. Using comercial program 'SSH Secure Shell' works and the files are correct but we want use Filezilla for Open Source The ascii mode is not implement in Sftp? This a failure. Thanks from Spain.}

This one should be easy to fix (as long as someone actually knows what this option does:) The ambiguous text is:

"Do not install as service, started automatically (not recommended)"

This is found in the FileZilla_Server_0_8_6.exe setup:

Startup Settings

Select startup behaviour for FileZilla Server

Please choose how FileZilla Server should be started:

"Do not install as service, started automatically (not recommended)" (3rd option)

It's ambiguous because it leaves you wondering whether it will be started automatically or not.

I recommend changing to:

"Do not install as service and do not start automatically. (not recommended)"

as long as that is indeed what that option means.

Filezilla V2.2 doesn't download to the correct place when I specify a UNC path as the path where I keep my local copy of the files I use on my Internet web site.

The correct path is shown in the 'local site' field though, see example.

But when I download a file to the current local directory by right clicking on a remote file and choosing the download option, the file downloads into:

d:\Alleuus\publicweb\weretell-live\ecssystem\webs\ecs- tech\htdocs\

The local tree view though *is* however looking at the UNC path location so the downloaded file is never displayed.

Bizzarre!

When a LIST request is sent with a file as a target, the server responds with:

Server error: tcp 550 Directory not found

LISTing a directory works as expected. I have confirmed by looking in the client ftp handler code that the client indeed sends a LIST.

If I am right, FileZilla Server is trying to follow RFC 959:

which contains:

LIST (LIST)

This command causes a list to be sent from the server to the passive DTP. If the pathname specifies a directory or other group of files, the server should transfer a list of files in the specified directory. If the pathname specifies a file then the server should send current information on the file.

That looks like FileZilla Server is at fault here.

Files resumed after a send timeout are sometime corrupted. I suggest to trim files of some KB (the amount maybe can be setup in options) before resume them.

Using recent versions (2.1.6 to 2.2.0) on Win98SE. This did not happen in older versions.

The message log behaves fine until its window is full. After that, it shows only the most recent line, at the top of the window. Previous lines are only readable by scrolling up, and as soon as a new message is received (FTP command or response), they disappear again.

I'm not sure this is a bug -- but it's not behaving the way I expected. I'm using FileZilla version 2.2, that I downloaded today 15 Sep 2003. I connected to a remote site and started downloading a file. Decided to stop the download, so I used menu command File/Disconnect. Dialog box shows the following lines, but the download is still continuing to run, like the remote site did not receive any command to stop or disconnect.

Response: 230 Guest login ok, access restrictions apply. Status: Connected Status: Disconnected from server

FILEZILLA VERSION 2.2:

As of FileZilla 2.1.7 I was able to follow a link correctly and didn't have any problem now in 2.2.0 it only seems to work correctly when relative paths are set in the server end... I do not wish this as I would like users to be able to go to the parent directory of their home path which does not work when relative paths are set on the server side (dont know if that is supposed to happen).

Also, after trying to upload to a directory when permission is not allowed, it shows in the file tree as if it has been uploaded...

I am having LISTing problems as well.

Connecting over ftp SSL to our ftp server. 2.1.5 works fine, but all version after have problems listing. 2.2 will list some directories but not others...

The most notable directory that *always* fails is the /bin directory. These are .net web apps, so they will always have a /bin directory. Other directorys are affected too, but I do not notice any particular pattern.

Absolutly no problems listing non-ssl servers (normal ftp).

See the attached files form full traces from 2.15 & 2.2, since these are the short versions.

I use Windows NT 4.00.1381

--Initial Settings-- I set my interface settings not to display Quick Connect Bar and also went to menu View->Quick Connect Bar and unchecked it. The Quick Connect Bar was not displayed.

--The Bug-- When I go to menu Edit->Settings and simply click OK button without changing anything, after Settings window is closed, the Quick Connect Bar is displayed again.

--Checked settings afterwards-- I went to Edit->Settings->Interface settings, and my current configuration is still set not to display Quick Connect Bar. After I clicked OK button the Quick Connect Bar disappeared.

Also, if I go to Edit->Settings and click Cancel, the Quick Connect Bar doesn't appear.

The ftp-proxy is transparent

Other ftp clients such as WS_Ftp, cuteFTP works fine but FileZilla fails with the following error immediately after LIST is issued:

Error: Disconnected from server Error: Could not retrieve directory listing Error: Timeout detected!

note: I am not using passive mode

Note: I WANNA USE FileZilla, nothing else!!! :-)

If a child directory is highlighted and you click on the - icon in the parent directory to close the parent directory, it highlights but does not close. If you click on the - icon of the parent directory while it is highlighted, it will close.

I find that it is much easier to tell if a file has been changed on the server side if I can compare the exact size of the file to the file size on the server side. Unfortunately on the local size, it shows KB, MB, etc instead of the filesize in bytes. Perhaps there could be option to change this so I can see the file in bytes instead of kilobytes, etc?

Sometimes when you click on a directory on the remote side and then click on another directory and upload to that directory, it goes back to the previous directory after uploading the files.

Are there any plans to implement the ability to move files within the local side as well as remote side?

After a while (?), the Toolbar buttons become bigger, but the Toolbar's size remains the same, so the buttons are visually cut off at their bottoms.

It has happened to me numerous times.

I will attach a screenshot later when it happens again. Unfortunately, I don't know how to reproduce it manually.

Hi, I just realized that FileZilla Server 0.8.7 is crashing, when the used port is in use by another application. Its not a big prob, because that should not be the case in production env, but anyhow ... it looks ugly :) Regards Daniel

When installing FileZilla-2.2.0 (on a WinXP box) it offers no capability to install for "All Users", and instead unconditionally installs Start menu items in the current users' start menu (whether they be an administrator or not).

FileZilla-2.1.7 had a similar bug. It installed to "All Users" but the permission of the files were set to be unreadable by anyone other than the user who installed them.

I'm downloading a large binary file and the Queue window shows all relevant data, including the progress bar and speed. After very short time, the progressbar and actual size/speed stops completly. The elapsed and expected time also stops. However, I can see from my DSL modem, that downloads is still going on!! Also when I look with the Explorer into the directory, the File is growing!!! I can repeat this effect any time, including closing and starting FileZilla again..

Just installed the Filezilla Server 0.8.7 beta.

Tried to configure a user accessing a directory tree, including an home directory, a local drive (C:) and a network drive (mapped U:).

To that effect I enabled the "follow links" options and I created windows shortcuts in the home directory pointing to those drives.

The link to the local drive (C:) works, while the link to the network drive (U:) does not work, nothing appears respect to that when logging in with an FTP client (Filezilla 2.20)

Follow this,

1. Make sure you don't see quick connect bar. (turn off

option)

2. click Edit->Settings

3. click Interface settings

4. Then make sure you didn't checked Quickconnect Bar

(it should be unchecked)

5. Then Press OK

6. Tada! You have Quickconnect bar now.

After that situation, When you enter Settings menu and just click ok, Quickconnect Bar visibility is toggled each time.

This occures sometimes. I've reported this earlier as 786803, but now I've seen that also in the latest version and I saw what happened. Filezilla tried to resume the file with start = filesize instead of asking me what I want to do. I've attached a debug-log.

Easy to reproduce bug, tested on FileZilla 2.1.7 and 2.2

When you try to LIST the content of a remote directory who has long username (more than the standard 8 characters), some files won't appear when their size is to big.

Example :

I haven't try to exactly determine what was the limit of username's lenght which cause the bug but I think it would not be complicated to resolve.

If you select a remote file and right-click and Edit/View the file is downloaded (i believe) but when the file is open in text editor it is empty and its size in temp directory is 0 !!! The file is probably downloaded but not write in temp directory !!

It's nice to have the possibility to add comments to each ftp site, however they don't seem to stick, neither when just clicking in another site nor when exiting with the Save and Exit option.

Pulled lastest FileZilla source version (2.2.1).

Tried to compile with MSVC6, failed (because FileZilla uses headers not included with MSVC6), tried to compile with MSVC.Net, succeeded.

Ran FileZilla.exe. It asked me whether to use the registry, and said that registry is recommended for multiuser environments, so I said yes.

I connected, transferred files, things look nice.

I went to Site Manager and configured a site, went to Advanced to set the initial directory, Saved the Settings, closed FileZilla.

Now every time I run FileZilla I get a corrupt xml error:

Error, can't parse 'FileZilla.xml', the file may be corrupt. For this session, the registry will be used to store the settings.

and it doesn't remember the site I configured. I tried the same thing again (except not recompiling the source), and the same error happens.

Is SiteManager incompatible with registry settings ?

Using just compiled 2.2.1.

Invoking Help, and choosing version history, it appears that the most recent version is 2.1.6.

(I speculate that some file just needs to be updated with a new copy of change notes.)

this was listed in feature requests in may 2002 but to me this is more of a bug than a feature...

you can drag files from local directories outside of filezilla to upload but you can't drag files from filezilla to other locations.

if i change file attribut on system Unix (example : check execute Group Permission), FileZilla disconnected Unix server.

The bug is present in version 2.2.1. I have not tried the latest alpha release, 2.2.1a.

OK, this is really small bug and should be easy to fix. Does not affect the functionality.

In the installer screen, at the point where the user selects the modules to install, the last module is the "debug files" module, but it does not have a description. As a sidenote, the additional language files description could be slightly expanded, to make it more descriptive, explaining for example which languages exist. These are minor improvements which take less than 5 minutes to implement in the installer, but this is what the end user sees when first downloads the program and goes through the installation, and make the best impression.

Overall I find filezilla at least as good if not better than commercial products e.g. cute ftp. Keep up the good work guys!

My local machine is Windows 2000 running FileZilla 2.2.1a. Remote machine is RedHat Linux 9.0 with all latest patches.

I transfer a batch of files from local to remote. The zero-length files stay in the queue (though it looks like they actually transfer). This is a problem for two reasons:

1) The obvious wrong data

2) If I have, say, 10 simultaneous transfers, when I get to the 10th zero-length file, all other transfers stop.

I experience very slow startuip of FileZilla on my laptop. It takes about 40 seconds to FileZilla window to appear after I clicked the icon.

Configuration is following:

HP omnibook 6000, PIII-850, 512MB Windows 2000 SP4

On my home PC it starts quickly.

When I use the Reconnect command, FileZilla does not preserve the timezone settings of the connected site, so the time of files are shown incorrectly after reconnect.

If I have an .xls file open in MS Excel, filezilla fails to upload. I must first close the file in MS Excel and then re-FTP.

IPv6 is becoming more prevalent, and not supporting IPv6 in FileZilla will limit its widespread use.

In multi connection mode, when transfering files there is often 0KB files transfered to the remote server. These are report as OK transfers when infact they have been corrupted.

This occured with both Windows FileZilla 2.1.9a and 2.2.1a on Win2k. The issue hasn't been encountered with other ftp clients connecting to the same servers. Attached is a short trace log.

Looks like bug 636100 is back:

"When FileZilla is started again, the size of the pane decreases."

But this time, it seems to only happen in certain conditions which I haven't been able to isolate myself but have seen it happen a number of times since 2.2.1a was released, and not with 2.2.1.

Sorry if this is inappropriate. I'm new to this but I think this app would be killer if it had just one more feature. That is the ability to take a large file and split it up into small chunks which are then downloaded using multiple threads. Much like BitBeamer and LeechFTP can do.

In FileZilla Server's Permissions.cpp,

Right now, the server reports that every file is executable by owner, which is bad for two reasons: 1. it's wrong, since not every file is executable and 2. It causes clients which parse the permissions string to fail, because the string is malformed. (x in the 2nd place is invalid).

I have been very happy with your software for the better part of the last year. I have noticed a problem with your 2.2.X releases to date however. If i use the "Connect to Default Site" from the File Menu, it WILL NOT EVER prompt for a password. I am on a multi-user system, and i do not store my passwords locally so this is a problem for me. If i open the Site Manager, and double click the connection, then it prompts for a password. If you need further clarification on this issue, contact me @

I use a doubleheaded video card and have 2 monitors ( the left windows being the Primary on Windows 2000)

When I have Filezilla in my right monitor, any of the dialogs popup eg site manager appear in the left monitor.

Not sure whether this is WIndows or filezilla or indeed Hydravision.

I am experiencing a critical transfer error trying to contact a Serv-U FTP-Server on a Windows machine. A detailed log is attached. I am using FileZilla 2.2.1a. Version 2.1.5 does not appear to do this.

I'm experiencing transfers using FileZilla that are significantly slower than using command line SFTP.

If i transfer a 3 MB file from a machine on my local network using FZ (2.2.1a), the fastest speed that i can get is around 200 KB/s. Transferring the same file (on the same server and client) using command line SFTP i can get 1.6 MB/s.

It seems like something is not quite right here.

When listing large dirs (20000 to 50000 files) under HPUX I get a timeout error: 'Befehl: LIST -a Antwort: 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for /usr/bin/ls. Fehler: Timeout entdeckt! Fehler: Dateiliste konnte nicht empfangen werden'

Where can I raise the timeout value?

The server is set for a certain user name and password. Server version 0.87 (latest) Client version 2.2.1a (latest)

The Filezilla client is used to verify the proper function of the server. Inaddition, a different FTP client also worked fine.

When using Mozilla to login to the server, only the folders but not the files show up.

When using Opera, the directory change fails whether by clicking on "parent directory" or by going using the browser back button and clicking on a different forlder.

In Internet Explorer, It is possible to browse the directories, and to open images, but it is not possible to drag an image or file from the IE window to the desktop or other client folders.

The above findings were verified on two seperate Win2000 PC as servers and several client PC (Win98, WinNT, & Mac OSX)

The server does not appear to load the Group permissions when first started, resulting in lots of 'permission denied' errors at the client end when trying to list files/folders. Resetting a single directory permission for each defined group and the server will then recognise group permissions again.

When using Filezilla from a network PC, I can use the Mapped drives to locate files on different servers from the Localsite pane. The files appear in the lower Filename listing pane and can be uploaded. * When I use '
Server4\stfcs\MyWork\MyWeb\' to connect to another server the files appear in the lower pane and upload Ok but the Localsite pane does not show the network places. I believe this is called UNC paths. == This UNC path notation works inside Site Manager, and the advanced browse option correctly place the correct code in the Default Local Directory for a ftp profile. == Please come back to me if you need some testing...

uploading a file from windows xp to freebsd, the binary/ascii setting is ignored. even forcing ACSII mode doesn't work. it always uploads in binary.

I use filezilla to connect sftp to my openssh server. Openssh is compiled with chroot for users only can to do sftp on their homes. With another sftp clients works fine, but with filezilla when user is logon into his home and i change to another folder (eg: /home/user/htdocs), then i copy files (eg: file.txt) from my hd to this folder with filezilla interface. It put this file on upper folder(eg: /home/user) and it change the name of the file to this name: "/home/user/htdocsfile".

Any idea ?

We have an ancient VAX cluster that still operates some vital equipment. Data is retrieved via FTP. The VAX runs a very ancient FTP program that does not support many modern features like passive mode. To date, it remains the only machine with which Filezilla will not work. Filezilla manages to log on to the machine, but fails to get the directory listing. The VAX returns an error.

Is this a bug in Filezilla? Or do I have to make some changes to the program? I have tried many things in settings, but no combination has been successful.

I am running version 2.2.1a.

I am getting the error Can not get home dir! on FileZilla's latest server release. I found a reference to it in your bug reports from June of 2002, but the only replies were from November 2003...Has this ever been fixed? Or has it been re-introduced?

When queuing files from a (remote) directory tree, the directory listing size (as shown by trf status during directory listing download) for the last scanned directory (usually the topmost one as it scans bottom-up, last-to-first) will be used as the initial/minimum trf size of subsequent file transfers, often for all queued files. With initial/minimum trf size I mean what is downloaded (according to status row below file in queue list window) before the graphical progress bar shows up - and at that point the transfer quickly completes (for large files rather speed increases considarably).

The result is that the file transfers for many small files take way too long time, e.g. a listing size may be 30KB, and the directory containing lots of small 1-10KB files, in case of which transfer time takes 10 times too long. Important: the stored files' sizes seem to get correct!

I have changed most options with no difference. I don't yet know if this problem only occurs in the present configuration: Remote sys: VAX Filezilla sys: NT4

Connect to remote site (upload.sf.net), via connection manager, using default mode.

It connects and executes ls command, and hangs (because it isn't using passive mode, I think).

Open up connection manager, alter it to use passive mode for this site, and hit connect button. Answer Yes to prompt for break current connection.

I get an ASSERT failure (UNICODE debug build) in source\MainThread.cpp, line 178, which is inside of CMainThread::OnThreadMessage.

I speculate that the problem is that it was still trying to break the current connection. This doesn't reproduce if I do the same test with passive mode the whole time, but also it doesn't hang in that case.

When I rename a file in a remote FTP folder using a filename that already exists there, the remote directory listing (without refreshing) will then show two files with the same filename (see screenshot #1).

If I then delete one of the listed files (and don't refresh the remote directory listing), a blank file will appear at the top of the remote directory listing (before the parent folder link) that has only the Windows unknown file type icon, a random value in the filesize field, and "???" in the date field (see screenshot #2).

I attached a log.

This server doesn't send a 550 file exists error when I rename a remote file with an existing filename, but I think that FileZilla can be fixed slightly to accomodate this problem somehow.

Using 2.2.1b

For the past several releases, I have been experiencing an odd problem. After dragging and dropping a file from the local to remote directory (and the file appears to STOR), the remote tree view does not update with the new file time/size, etc.

If I try refreshing from the menu, I get nothing different. If I close FZ, and then open and reconnect -- I will see the new file (if it was newer), or the older file (if older -- did it "fail" to upload?)

I tried two different ISPs; my current config v. the default config; Cache On v. Cache Off; Passive v. Active; Auto-Overwrite v. Prompt.

Does not exhibit behavior in WS_FTP lite.

Any help would be deeply appreciated.

I used FileZilla 2.2.1b and tried accessing a Japanese based HP-UX server and no files were listed in the GUI.

I enabled "show raw directory listing" and it shows that there are files in the server as well (as shown below):

Local Tree View does not sort alphabetically all the time. This tends to happen on semi-deep directory structures. I start notice it on the 5th level.

Line 1227 in MainFrm.cpp for getting the configured option for the remote view status bar is:

Well I've a problem with a specific server. It is a SFTP server (i don't know if it has anything to do ..). When i log in, i am in this directory:

/students/home/zoner/rslinckx/

In this directory, there is a symbolic link (that represent a folder) pointing to

/students/share/gr1216

The problem is that when i double click on this link, Filezilla appears to resole the link, but when LISTing it shows the files in /students/home/zoner/rslinckx/ and not the files in the gr1216/ folder...

It is the same thing if I enter directly /students/share/gr1216 as adress in the adressbar, then it shows nothing when LISTing...

Some production servers just upgraded to that version of SSH and now FileZilla 2.2.1b can no longer upload files.

I use SFTP from the command line and I am able to upload files.

What is causing this problem?

when i open a filezilla session and maximize it, and then close it. Next time I open a session, it should remember this state and become maximized. This is a standard GUI convention

I have version 2.2.1b of FileZilla. When I pause an upload an resume it later on, it doesn't work. Instead of that i get this error message: Append/Restart not permitted, try again. Upload failed. Other FTP programs work fine, so it isn't the server's fault.

Hello. I've been using filezilla servers and client on my computers at work and homw, all working fine (I do not use any fancy features... just normal plain file xfers).

I restarted my work box today (winXP - after about 2 weeks of uptime), and filezilla server failed to start. interface cant connect to server. when i try to manually start filezilla server service I get the following error message:

Could not start the Filezilla Server FTP server service on Local Computer.

Error 193: 0xc1

i cant find any help related to that problem and i would really likke to get it fixed.

i uninstalled filezilla ftp server several times, downloaded latest version, etc, etc. problem did not go away.

After initially running FileZilla and recieving the "Do you want to save settings in the Registry or as an XML file." FileZilla does not run. At all. No screen. No error message, nothing. Zip. Nada. Zilch.

Running a tool like OpenTrap shows that FileZilla is trying to use Riched32.dll in the Windows/system directory. Apparently, this file seems to have dissappeared from my directory in some fashion.

So I ran SFC (Start/Run/SFC) and used the "Extract one file" option to replace the missing file from my Win98 SE disc.

I figured this report would be useful to anyone else who might encounter the same problem I did since a search on Google didn't reveal anything.

FileZilla is disconnected when attempting to upload a file with size 0 over SFTP.

Hello. There are many wildly used ftp servers default to not allow APPE command. Sometimes the upload connection breaks, and FZ tries to APPE, receiving the message:

451 format_de.tpl: Append/Restart not permitted.

FZ records an error, and tries it again. Failed certain times, FZ state the file as "Too many error attempt."

What's worse, that if a user clears these file states, and tries to upload them again, he goes into the error circle again, each file fails certain times and quit from the queue. The user actually get no way to upload the files from the queue.

Yesterday I spent a night to upload about 9000 files, about 300 files are not successfully uploaded. They are nightmares to me. I can clear the status, but the queue remain unsuccess because FZ always tries to tell the server APPE without luck.

I suggest 1) filezilla recognize the "451 Append/Restart not permitted." message and try to STORE in that case; 2) there be an option in the preference to let FZ never use APPE.

I recommend Filezilla to people all the time. The last two people have not been able to successfully download and install the most recent version of filezilla. They can download and install the next-to-last version without trouble. Someone should check the most recent files. I think they're messed up.

Will it ever be possible to drag n drop files and directories to other directories on the remove view (and why not on the local view also)?

I've tried version 2.2.2 where these don't work (as well as dragging to other programs like Windows Exporer which would also be nice)

When you set a group to be able to resolve shortcuts, then you create users for that group, the users don't in fact have that ability, where if you create them with no group and set that permission then they do have that capability.

When the LIST command is responded to by an FTP server (as the result of getting the list of files in a directory), certian date formats are not parsed correctly:

Example:

-rw-rw-rw- 1 noone nogroup 142 jun 01 1999

abort.txt

is parsed correctly, but

-rw-rw-rw- 1 noone nogroup 142 01-jun-99 abort.txt

is not parsed correctly.

The end result is the file name is listed in the GUI as:

"-rw-rw-rw- 1 noone nogroup 142 01-jun-99

abort.txt"

which make file tranfer impossible.

It ist easy to delete the history manually by editing the FileZilla.xml file, but I think for security reasons (on a system used by multiple people) the button shoud working. I think it is easy to implement...

When downloading large files, the progress bar in the queue list does strange things. Eg, shows 100% when less than 1% downloaded; shows -15325918272% downloaded when approx half done.

File currently downloading is 733380608 bytes and the problem is evident. Colour is also changing from grey to highlight colour and back again.

Using Filezilla Server 0.88 remote interface, attempting to add new folders for either users or groups brings up a list of folders on the local machine, rather than on the server.

Resume bug when uploading files I have latest version 2.2.2 of FileZilla. When the upload breaks and I then resume it, it doesn't work. Instead of that I get this error message: Append/Restart not permitted, try again. Upload fails over and over again. I need to delete original file.

It seems that this error was corrected fot ASCII transfered files but it still doesn't work for BINARY tranfer.

I need to mention that I have set file tranfer mode to overwrite but the File Zilla still uses APPE command and I am getting terribly tired from this error. I'd be happy to have it fixed soon, since it is the problem I have since I started to use File Zilla a year ago and none of later version didn't deal with this little but very annoying bug. Otherwise it is excellent program.

I think it would be fine to have 'File overwrite setting' option to overwrite only files that are different. Current choise 'overwrite' and 'overwrite if newer' is good but this one would improve the program I guess.

Changing local time on the Windows machine while transfering files, time spent and speed are incorrect. For example, when going back in time, time spent and speed displayed are negative.

A timer should be used instead of "gettimeofday()- transfer_start_time" ;o)

I am using a proftpd server with mod_tls on. When downloading from server, the file received will be smaller that the file on the server.

My configuration is FTP over SSL (explicit encryption) and use passive mode. Port is 990.

Downloaded and installed ver 2.2.3 over 2.2.1b on Dec. 31, 2003.

After installing, attempted to connect to a server using SSH2 but was unable to connect.

Error received was: Status: Connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx:22 ... Status: Connected with xxx.xxx.xxx:22, initializing SFTP connection... Command: CONNECT yyy@…:22 Error: FzSFtp.exe was closed, terminating connection. Error: Unable to connect!

I had no previous problems with this.

Re-installed ver 2.2.1b over 2.2.3. Using the same settings, connected successfully.

Made a copy of the 2.2.1b FzSFTP.exe file, re-installed ver 2.2.3, renamed its FzSFTP.exe file to FzSFTP2.2.3.exe, and then renamed the copy of the 2.2.1b FzSFTP file to FzSFTP.exe. Retried the same ftp site and settings and connected with no problems.

I noticed a file size difference:

2.2.3 FzSFTP file 105KB 105 KB (107,520 bytes)

2.2.1b FzSFTP file 106KB 105 KB (108,032 bytes)

Settings for SFTP are: Use Compression - Default Protocol Selection - Use SSH2 selected

Have left the old file in place.

If an executable file is uploaded, the uploaded file will be unexecutable on the server, with an error message "excution error".

Both the client and server systems are Microsoft NT4 SP6a The file servesr is OpenSHH for windows, access protocol is SFTP T he execution error is due to the file's security permissions:

Everyone Special access (RW) owner Special access (RWDPO)

If the permissions are changed e.g to "full control" the file will be executable. so it was uploaded correctly

Hi I have been having problems with files being downloaded have missing the last few kbytes. Files that i download are compressed using rar. This only happens with SSL explicit sites. After the incomplete files are downloaded I select files again and resume the missing ends are downloaded ok. Is this a bug ???

hi, I have problme with chinese folders. I can see the files inside of that chinese folders, but when I try to download, it returns errors, so peopel canno download those files. once I change to english folder names, they are fine again.

Version 2.2.3 cannot correctly parse the response to the LIST command if the server is Connect:Enterprise for UNIX.

Each line looks something like this (please excuse the word wrapping): -C--E-----FTP B BCC3I1 7670 1294495 Jan 13 07:42 B0702SYI.00323NXL.PGP

I attach a log file.

In the above example, it thinks that "07:42 B0702SYI.00323NXL.PGP" is the file name, whereas in fact the file name is "B0702SYI.00323NXL.PGP" and "07:42" is the time.

Version 2.1.7 was able to parse the response correctly. That's why I liked FileZilla so much. Many other FTP clients fail to parse this response correctly, which is why I chose FileZilla.

In other words, this "broke" somewhere between versions 2.1.7 and 2.2.3, but I don't see anything in the Change Log that would explain it.

If you want to download a big directory (many subdirectories) from a slow server, you often get the error timeout during receive of file list. You can press reconnect button, so you're in same directory as before timeout, but you can't say filezilla to continue receiving file list. You can only begin from start and probably you will get the same error again (because server is so slow).
