#2294 FTP custom BOOST-mode in FileZilla client (like QWIX) Feature request normal FileZilla Client
Description

FTP boost mode in FileZilla Client (like QWIX)

Avalaunch (a homebrew dashboard for modded Xboxes) has a built-in custom FTP-server that has a very nice feature called BOOST mode. Boost mode only works if both the FTP-server and the FTP-client supports it. What boost mode does is basically send a list (from the client to the server) of all files from the transfer-list making new connection/session for each file unessesary, resulting in a much faster overall transfer speed when transfering many small files (like example a complete and large website, or text files, or even loads of MP3 files over a fast connection). Team-Avalaunch the makers of the Avalaunch dashboard also make a FTP-client called QWIX which supports this boost mode.

Team-Avalaunch has made the specifications of this BOOST mode open source to enable others to implement support of it into their FTP servers and clients, found here: http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=137059

Team-Ava's website: http://www.teamavalaunch.com

From Avalaunch FAQ (a bit old now as more supports it): Q: What is Boost Mode? A: Boost Mode is an improved FTP protocol that is currently only supported with Avalaunch. It can make transfers push the limits of your 100Mb connection, and is especially helpful with transfers that contain a lot of small files."

PS! Some others that supports this boost mode is: SUXX, UnleashX, C-XBOXtool

#1017 FTP cut short Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

In downloading a 26 MB file from an FTP site the process starts and then terminates with only 2 to 4 MB downloaded. It does not report any problem with the download and implies that the entire download was successful.

Tried this many times but the result was the same.

I immediately tried accessing the FTP site with IE 6 and I sucessfully downloaded the file, hence I don't believe that the site was having a problem.

I also had the same problem about 10 days ago.

#11352 FTP from win10 PC to TSO/ISPF Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

Hi, FZ version 3.27.0.1 I enter a custom command "site tracks pri=300 sec=30" to overwrite the z/OS default size allocation but the site tracks pri=300 sec=30 is not taken. The Z/OS file get allocate to the z/os default size of 15 tracks which is not enough to hold the PC file (11.7MB). once the z/os file get full then FZ start looping

From the log: Command: PASV Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (x,x,x,50,21,72) Command: APPE INSTALL Response: 125 Appending to data set FJ09.INSTALL.CD.FILES.INSTALL Response: 451-System completion code and reason: B37-04 Response: 451-Data set is out of space. Response: 451 Transfer aborted due to file error. Error: File transfer failed after transferring 1024.0 KiB in 1 second Status: Starting upload of D:\FTP\R6501.ML005\MVS\FILE\INSTALL Status: Retrieving directory listing of "'FJ09.INSTALL.CD.FILES.'"... Command: PASV

I know the error 451-System completion code and reason: B37-04 is because the z/os file is full. my problem is "why FZ did not take the custom command?" Site tracks pri=300 sec=30 when I get the response of accepted.

From the log: Command: site tracks pri=300 sec=30 Response: 200 SITE command was accepted

I you need other details, let me know. Regards. ...jy

#4072 FTP not performed after latest patch Patch normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

After uploading the latest patch, I'm now version 3.1.6 I tried to FTP to startlogic (my server). I was told that the file transfer was successful, however, when I go to my Wordpress.org admin page and select plugins (the files I was transfering) they are not there.

I had a larger file transfer of 446 files. Is there something I'm doing wrong here?

#7182 FTP over SSL/TLS not working from the internet Bug report normal FileZilla Server worksforme
Description

I have a FileZilla server (version 0.9.34) running on a Windows Server 2003 server (Web Edition, SP2)

"Normal FTP" is working normally (both from the inside and the outside), but for FTP over SSL/TLS, I have a problem.

I configured implicit FTP over SSL/TLS and am using active mode FTP.

When connected via VPN, things are working like a charm (when checking the firewall-logs, I see a connection on port 990 and 989, as expected). When connecting from an external IP-address, I also see a connection on port 990 and 989, but I get the following error: 150 Opening data channel for directory list. 425 Can't open data connection. As far as I can see, the data-connection is established (connection on port 989 in the firewall logs), but no data gets through. The firewall is a Cisco ASA 5505 and there are no denies in the logging when connecting to the FTP-server.

Somewhere, things are going wrong. I think the FTP server is to blame, but I would guess someone else would have the same issue... Windows logs aren't showing any (relevant) warnings or errors.

Can someone here shine a light on this issue?

#10199 FTP over TLS fails on IIS without all patches installed Bug report high FileZilla Client rejected
Description

First I connect to the server with the client and it is fast and no problems. I open the folders on server and on my pc so I can make a transfer. I doubleclick to transfer a file, and it reacts allright, but then it reports an error and for a slight second I can see the file in the list on the serverfolder and then it disappears. So instead of updating the file on the server the file is now missing!!!! I tried several times. This occured just after upgrading the client on automatic suggestion. Which I have done before without problems. Now this is extra annoying as it is the last thing I wanted to do before going on a travel tomorrow morning. And now instead of having an updated website I have a website with 2 missing files. Here is a copy of the report:

#7920 FTP passive connection is not closed Bug report high FileZilla Client invalid
Description

Create a binary file with contents: ff 00 00 00 Send it over FTP in passive mode, the connection hangs un-closed, thus server locks the file until timeout reaches, then Filezilla Client repeats an attempt to send the file, obviously failing as the file is locked on the server.

This is not the only file that makes filezilla hang a connection. A lot of UTF-16 files causes the same problem. Maybe all, don't know.

According to Wireshark, FTP-Data message of 4-bytes length is never followed by a FIN message, neither it is FIN itself.

FTP site (IP address: 96.0.108.189) is accessible through window's utility (cmd prompt) but it is partially accessible through FileZilla. Can you please guide why only filezilla utility is not working with particular ISP. Thank You

Just right of the "open site manager" button, the quick scroll menu displaying the list of the FTP sites does not work as it used to.

Up to version 3.1.2 if you had more than one screen long of FTP sites, the list would scroll automatically when you would reach the last item with your mouse. In the new 3.1.3.1 version, you need to click on the "down" arrow to make it scroll down.

#10793 FTP server is vulnerable to an FTP server bounce attack Bug report normal FileZilla Server rejected
Description

The FTP server accepts the PORT command and produces the following output "200 Port command successful" although the server does not execute the command. Command output should not be produced in that case.

This is a Nessus finding.

Nessus description: Port: ftp (21/tcp) Issue name: FTP Privileged Port Bounce Scan

Synopsis: The remote FTP server is vulnerable to a FTP server bounce attack.

Description: It is possible to force the remote FTP server to connect to third parties using the PORT command. The problem allows intruders to use your network resources to scan other hosts, making them think the attack comes from your network.

Solution: See the CERT advisory in the references for solutions and workarounds.

Plugin Output: The following command, telling the server to connect to 169.254.176.115 on port 10794: PORT 169,254,176,115,42,42 produced the following output: 200 Port command successful

There is absolutely no way to upload files. I've tried everything: only one file upload every time, I've set the simultaneous uploads to 1... After my unsuccessful tries I finally decide to give up. OK, I disconnect from the server.

The strange part comes...

Now that I was supposed to be disconnected the file starts to upload to the server. It's amazing!!

Can you please please tell me what's happening here? Many users from 110mb who use FileZilla 3 are experiencing this problem. See this forum post:

http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t17936.0.html

In my opinion, I think this is a bug of Filezilla 3 beacause everything is fine with Filezilla 2.

Take a look to this, please. Could you send me a reply to kaixiluo at gmail dot com? Thanks a lot.

Yours sincerely,

Kaixi

#366 FTP upload to Xbox slow Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Using FileZilla 2.1.4b, I can FTP files to Xbox normallyat a high speed, like several Mbps. Upgrading to FileZilla 2.1.5 and higher (I tried the latest 2.1.8b) the FTP uploads slow down to around 20-70K/sec. FTP downloads to PC are fast and it is just the uploads that are slow in later versions.

I am using EvolutionX and XBMP 2.4 as FTP server.

#12741 FTP with TLS explicit in mac Bug report normal FileZilla Client worksforme
Description

Hi!

I'm desperate. I have 2 macs and in neither of them I can connect via ftp with tls. I can only connect via plain ftp (insecure). I think the problem is that when making the connection it does not ask me for the certificate. Other colleagues can connect with tls, and they DO ask to accept the certificate. Why don't you ask me for the certificate? I have tried everything, I have even formatted the computer. Have you had a similar case?

Thanks.

Please implement it in future. As usual, with 'support/require/do not check' options. And maybe an option to restrict each user/group to specific certificate.

#3099 FTPES behind NAT uses internal address Bug report normal Other
Description

FTPES behind NAT uses internal address

FileZilla 3.0.0-beta5.

When connecting per FTPES from WAN to a "misconfigured" FTP server behind a NAT that reports its internal address, the connection uses PASV(internal IP,PORT) even if under Settings -> Connection -> Passive mode the radio box is on "Use the server's external IP address instead".

Connection works with plain FTP over WAN (in this case FileZilla uses correctly the external address - the address of NAT box).

* END OF BUGREPORT.

The setup: 1) I am pretty sure, the NAT box is correctly configured (forwards TCP/21 and passive upper address range to internal "misconfigured" FTP server (Synology DS-106:FW426), which unfortunately is not further configurable)

2) Connection works using FTPES in LAN.

#3114 FTPES behind NAT uses internal address Bug report normal Other
Description

I have posted this post before, now posting it with debug logs as required.

Using FileZilla 3.0.0-beta5, connecting to Synology DS-106 (192.168.77.8), with FTP-SSL support. DSL router has port forwarding on external 21->internal 21 and passiv port range 55536-56559 to internal configured.

All runs fine in LAN (FTP and FTPES connections).

When connecting with FTPES from WAN to a "misconfigured" FTP server behind a NAT that reports its internal address, the connection uses PASV(internal IP,PORT) even if under Settings -> Connection -> Passive mode the radio box is on "Use the server's external IP address instead".

Connection works with plain FTP over WAN (in this case FileZilla uses correctly the external address - the address of NAT box), all goes unfortunately plain-text over the network this wan :(

Attached are 3 logs in ASCII (zipped as one file). Log1 - LAN FTPES, success Log2 - WAN FTPES, failure by LIST Log3 - WAN FTP, success

Hello, Thank you for contacting Newtek, The Small Business Authority. My name is Bryan with the Tech Support Team and I understand that you are having an issue when attempting to upload files to your site using FTPS on port 990. In looking into this issue for you, it would appear that the issue is related to the FTP client you are using when trying to upload files. I was able to replicate the issue using Filezilla. In speaking with one of my Tier 3 Tech Support Agents, I was informed that there is a know issue currently with Filezilla and other clients with uploading files using FTPS. They advised that I try a different FTP client such as CuteFTP to complete the upload using FTPS. I downloaded CuteFTP and confirmed that uploads are successful when connecting with FTPS. Please test on your end and let us know if you run into any further issues. Thank You,

Bryan S. Associate of Technical Support Newtek Technology Services Phone: (602) 263-0300 Opt. 5 URL: http://webservices.thesba.com

#4561 FTPS TLS initializing crashes Bug report high FileZilla Client outdated
Description

When connected through FTPS, filezilla shuts down directly after displaying the last log line "initializing TLS". Did not recive any "not responding" dialog or anything. Tried restarting the computer and reinstall filezilla with no luck. Ordinary FTP works with no problems.

My version is 3.2.4.1 FileZilla_3.2.4.1_win32-setup.exe MD5 checksum: 4B4900C2875E07161B4AACA255C71FF5

Host: ftps://hevox.net (Self-signed certificate)

#5581 FTPS does not work Bug report high FileZilla Server outdated
Description

Configured Filezilla server v. 0.9.36 for FTPES and FTPS.

FTPES works OK: at first login server send client certificate, after accepting, it connects to the site. FTPS does not work: same client, same server. Server does not sends certificate to client. Up on connection, I receive error: "500 Syntax error, command unrecognized".

I thought it was due to firewall so installed server and client on the same machine to remove and dependencies on firewall or routers: same result. I tested this with server version 0.9.34, 0.9.35.

CLient is Filezilla 3.3.4.1 but i had same results with SmartFTP client. FTPES log: Status: Resolving address of nycw9854 Status: Connecting to 10.3.7.240:21... #8136 FTPS with PASV not working from internet side. Bug report normal FileZilla Server worksforme
Description

I've set up my server to enable implicit FTPS (port 990) but the unsecure connection method is still accepted too.

When I try to connect to the server using unencrypted method, everything works fine, no matter if I'm local or internet originated. But for FTPS, it's different. From local network, everything is fine, from the internet side the connection goes as far as switching to passive (PASV) mode. From there on, connection hangs. I checked the logs on my client and believe to know the cause (but not the solution): Upon switching to PASV mode, my client is given the local IP-address instead of the real 'outside' ip-address. It is as if the server suddenly believes this connection to be on the local net and thus not send the 'real' address.

I.o.w. when using FTPS and PASV mode enabled for all but local connections, Filezilla server is still sending the local ip-address together with the port nr to use for the passive connection to an external client trying to connect. This isn't so for unsecure connections and therefore I believe this to be a bug.

#1218 FTPS+HTTPPROXY=does not work! Alexander Schuch Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Client error: FTPS+HTTPPROXY=does not work!

Server: 0.9.22b Client: 2.2.30 Proxy server: any Connection type: FTP over SSL/TLS (implict encryption) + HTTP 1.1 PROXY

These bugs are only with Filezilla client+FTPS+HTTPPROXY. If you use connection at Cuteftp8.0+FTPS+HTTPPROXY or FilezillaClient+FTP+HTTPPROXY, it works. So the problem is with Filezilla client v FTPS+PASV.

#3171 FZ 3.0.0-beta10 regression - port box Bug report normal Other
Description

FileZilla 3.0.0-beta10 regression

port box not getting port numbers, at least not showing up

I am trying to update to FileZilla 3.0.0-beta10 to get the fix for broken connections forgetting the "Resume" choice.

But, after unzipping the windows zip for it, and running it, and adding a new host, and selecting SFTP, I discover what looks like an error in the port box.

The port box doesn't get the correct number -- this works correctly in FileZilla 2.2.30(a?) -- when you select SFTP protocol, the port box is automatically set to 22.

But, with FileZilla 3.0.0-beta10, the port box seems to stay blank.

#12170 FZ 3.48.0 Client File Associations Broken - Similar to other tickets Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate

#12165 FZ 3.48.0: "Opening Failed" error message Bug report normal FileZilla Client fixed
Description

The following bug has appeared today, immediately after I had upgraded Filezilla to version 3.48.0. It didn't happen with previous versions (I have been using FZ daily for years --- thank you for creating this wonderful tool).

Now, whenever I doubleclick a LOCAL file in order to edit it, I get an error message popup reading "Opening failed: The file '[FILENAME HERE]' could not be opened: The associated command failed" (+ OK button). This is a spurious error message, as the file does open just fine. This happens with every local file I try to edit, forcing me to close this popup on every local file edit (a very common occurrence for me). It does not happen with files on the server.

My relevant settings are:

  • File lists -> Double-click action on files -> View/Edit
  • File editing -> Default editor -> use custom editor -> "C:\Program Files (x86)\Vim\vim74\gvim.exe"
  • File editing -> Always use default editor

Additional observation:

  • If instead of double clicking the local file, I right click it and select "Edit" the same error appears. However, if I select "Open" it does not.

P.S. Also posted this on the forum.

#12174 FZ 3.48.0: On reopening a server file, the popup always comes up defaulting to "Reopen local file" Bug report normal FileZilla Client duplicate
Description

I believe this issue is new to FZ 3.48.0.

When one reopens a previously-opened server file, one gets a well-known popup asking whether to "Reopen local file" or "Discard local file then download and edit file anew".

Prior to version 3.48.0, IIRC, this popup would come up with a value already selected, that value being the one the user had last selected (i.e. remembering the user's last selection, whether reopen or discard). As of version 3.48.0, this is no longer the case. The popup always comes up defaulting to "reopen", which is slightly inconvenient for me, as I almost always require "discard" (i.e. an extra click).

Not a huge issue, but it would be nice to have FZ return to remembering one's choice (or alternatively adding an option as to what should be the default value for this popup).

#3328 FZ Client crashes when trying to delete big directories Bug report normal Other
Description

I was trying to delete from an FTP site some directories containing pictures. I noticed that when trying to delete the directories containing lots of files (> 500), at some point the client crashes (the window dissapears completely). For this reason, I cannot provide you with the debug logs which I activated to "verbose" level.

A work-around is to select some files and delete them, and then select another batch, until the directory gets small enough to be deleted without crash.

I have FZ updated automatically to 3.0.3, but I didn't notice this behaviour the previous version (which honestly, I don't know what it was).

#5673 FZ Crashes on slow computers with ssl Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

Hi, I have a serious problem with ftps on my eeePC (WinXP Home 32, intel atom): as soon as i use ftps (SSL), filezilla(3.3.4.1) keeps hanging up the entire system and sometimes even crashes. the connections are really slow and the gui is not really responsive. connecting over normal ftp is no problem. i use filezilla server(0.9.37 beta) on my other pc(Win7 x64, Core i7), which is pretty fast and has no problems with this.

i understand that ssl needs cpu power, but is it necessary to crash filezilla?

#703 FZ Server - LIST compatibility problem with DreamWeaver Bug report normal Other
Description

Depending on the modification date/time of the file/directory, Macromedia's DreamWeaver will add an extra space to the start of the name when parsing the results from a LIST on version 0.93 of FileZilla server.

This stops DreamWeaver users from being able to access many of the folders on an FTP site served by FileZilla.

This appeared to be fixed in 0.89, but is back in 0.92 and 0.93.

I understand that FTP clients shouldn't be depending on LIST per the RFC, however, this is no consolation to the many DreamWeaver users out there.

#2187 FZ Server - Need Improved IP detection Feature request normal FileZilla Server
Description

I know that FileZilla Server is able to find out the external IP address. This solves the PASV mode problem for those behind firewalls.

However, any user that belong to the local area network will also connect to my computer via the external IP which is not what I want. They should connect to my 192.168.x.x

If I am connecting to my server via 127.0.0.1, then the PASV mode should also send me to 127.0.0.1, not the 192.168.x.x or the external IP address.

The above mentioned has been implemented long time ago on WarFTPd. Take a look at their version 1.82 RC9. I hope you get what I mean.

Thanks.

#218 FZ Server 0.7.4 download not working Bug report normal Other
Description

I downloaded the new versionof Filezilla server, and when double-clicked the exe file pops open a window that looks like it will run like the installer for the client of FZ, but after a fraction of second it disappears and nothing happens.

In case I had a bad transfer I went ahead and downloaded it again from a different mirror, with the same result. To be extra a redundant I tried it one more time a couple hours later, and had the same result.

I tried to eliminate anything on my end which may be interfering, such as antivirus software and other apps, and still have not been able to get it to work, so I thought I should let you know.

Thanks for a great product - I appreciate Filezilla immensely!

During drag&drop operation between local folder and ftp folder managed by FZ Server, FZ Server will delete file if drag&drop operation was unsuccessful (if source file is dropped on ribbon bar).

If you successfully drag file from ftp folder and drop it in local folder tab (folder window), file will be copied and source file will remain intact.

If you accidentally drag&drop source file to the Windows Explorer (in my case w/Clover) ribbon bar, FZ Server will delete file (with DELE command.)

It's better to check this soon, because today I've lost my files just by doing plain drag&drop operation. It may be not even FZ Server bug, but it's better to be sure it's Windows Explorer or Clover to blame for.

#3151 FZ ask to overwrite or not files that are in another folder. Tim Kosse Bug report high Other
Description

Ubuntu 7.04 with filezilla 3 beta 8.

Some weird overwrite problem.

I upload a folder with files. Then I rename the remote folder to something else. Then I upload again the same folder. FileZilla ask me if I want to overwrite each files one by one. Even if I cancel and delete all in the queue, refresh the remote listing and upload again, he will still ask me to overwrite or not. The only exit is to close FZ and run it again.

Here is what the logs are saying.

#518 FZ cannot understand "451 Append/Restart not permitted" Bug report high Other
Description

Hello. There are many wildly used ftp servers default to not allow APPE command. Sometimes the upload connection breaks, and FZ tries to APPE, receiving the message:

451 format_de.tpl: Append/Restart not permitted.

FZ records an error, and tries it again. Failed certain times, FZ state the file as "Too many error attempt."

What's worse, that if a user clears these file states, and tries to upload them again, he goes into the error circle again, each file fails certain times and quit from the queue. The user actually get no way to upload the files from the queue.

Yesterday I spent a night to upload about 9000 files, about 300 files are not successfully uploaded. They are nightmares to me. I can clear the status, but the queue remain unsuccess because FZ always tries to tell the server APPE without luck.

I suggest 1) filezilla recognize the "451 Append/Restart not permitted." message and try to STORE in that case; 2) there be an option in the preference to let FZ never use APPE.

#5064 FZ damages network connection on Win7, freezes on WinServer08R2 Bug report normal FileZilla Client rejected
Description

My Setup: FileZilla Client 3.3.0.1 on Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2, Apple's FTP sharing server on MacOSX 10.6.2, working in gigabit local area network.

After I updated FileZilla to the current version on Win7, I successfully transfered 5 files to the FTP server. It was always the same file, I just modified it multiple times between the uploads. So after uploading this file 5 times, I tried to upload it another time. FileZilla tried to start the download, but instantly after starting, the network connection gets broken - I don't have any connection to my network now. I can use Windows' "troubleshoot problems" feature from the network icon's context menu, which will say the following:

Problems found The connection between your access point, router, or dable modem and the Internet is broken -- Detected The default gateway is not available -- Fixed

After that, the network connection works fine. But as soon as I start a transfer with FileZilla, it breaks every time. This is permanent, restarting FileZilla or rebooting Windows does not help.

FTP transfers with the Windows Explorer work fine.

I also tested this on Windows Server 2008 R2. The issue is quite the same except that instead of breaking the network connection, FileZilla instantly freezes the whole OS when uploading the file for the 6th time and afterwards. There isn't even a bluescreen, and no way to recover except for the reset button on my PC. The server is installed on the same hardware as 7. I had Windows XP installed on it before, and there were no issues with FileZilla.

I had an older version of FileZilla (can't remember which one) installed on Windows 7 before updating to 3.3.0.1, it showed the same behaviour. After updating, it did 5 successful transfers and then re-entered this permanent error state.

It might be a driver problem, but I see no reason why the transfer would succeed the first 5 times and fail afterwards - there has to be some FileZilla-specific problem behind it. Also, there are no problems with the Windows Explorer FTP feature.

#1054 FZ does not handle trailing spaces in hostnames Bug report normal FileZilla Client
Description

Version: FZ Client 2.2.19a

Steps to reproduce:

  • Launch FZ Client
  • Enter any valid hostname into the "Address" box of

the Quickconnect toolbar, and add a trailing space. For example, "ftp.wustl.edu "

  • Click Quickconnect

FZ can't resolve the host name, and times out.

The same problem occurs if a connection is created in site manager with a trailing space in the hostname. Leading spaces, however, do not cause a problem.

This is a minor issue, but keep in mind that it's not uncommon to get trailing white space if you copy a hostname out of a text file and paste it into FZ.

#8662 FZ now won't launch - gives Error code "F4MDamageTitleStr" Bug report normal FileZilla Client outdated
Description

My FZ app had worked for past 4 months, thankyou.

For the last 2 weeks upon attempting to launch it falls over leaving an Error message "F4MDamageTitleStr" followed by "F4MDamageMessageStr".

To try to work around the problem, I have on four occasions:

  1. uninstalled and trashed the original app
  2. downloaded the currently available zip file (FileZilla_3.6.0.2_i686-apple-darwin9.app.tar) from your site
  3. unzipped it
  4. attempted to launch, but
  5. it doesn't. It just displays Error message "F4MDamageTitleStr (followed by) F4MDamageMessageStr" for 10 seconds
  6. sometimes followed by "FZ quit unexpectedly..."

I now don't know whether I was originally using 3.6.0.1 or 3.6.0.2 (and at any rate 3.6.0.1 isn't now available on your web-site). I have since also downloaded the new "FileZilla_3.7.0-rc1_i686-apple-darwin9.app.tar" but it gives me the same problem.

Mac support tell me they can't recognise it as Mac-related and believe it's software related. Can you help please as it was such a good FTP app. Hopeful, Rob

#1184 FZ server and IP*Works Tim Kosse Bug report normal FileZilla Server
Description

I was evaluating the IP*Works component and found it not to work with FZ server in FTP implicit mode. The guys at IP*Works responded right away and tried to research the issue. There's what they said:

" Our developers have done some more research on this issue, and there are some problems here that appear to be with the server. Since it is still in beta, this is not very surprising. In Explicit mode on upload, the component simply closes the data connection but the server reports a 426 FTP error. I'm not sure why the server is doing this, since the component is performing the appropriate action. In Implicit, it appears that the server is not even responding to the SSL handshake for the data connection. At this point, there is nothing that can be done within the component to accommodate this server. Hopefully when the server is no longer in Beta, these issues will have been resolved. At that time, if there are still some other problems, we will be happy to investigate them. You may also consider reporting these errors to the makers of the FTP server for their input and consideration. "

Any comments?

#3420 FZ3 wipes drive Bug report critical Other
Description

Ubuntu 7.whatever (latest stable) FileZilla 3 latest stable (cannot tell anymore)

I'll explain what happened in all detail I can remember. I deleted some files on my local drive.

/home/nyp/folder/file

No problems until I deleted one particular folder which resulted in wiping my entire /home directory.

It' name was like "/home/nyp/.Virtualbox/shared/Hitman Blood Money". Marked it, chose 'delete' and waited... Deletion went on and on and I got suspicious so I checked my free space. Before deletion there were 2% of space free now it was 97%. So I killed FileZilla which was still very busy removing files at that time and looked at what was left. Barely nothing. I lost all of my emails, my logins, password, programming projects, scripts, settings -> simply everything that was "in reach" of FileZilla. I got really mad but well... couldn't send you any hatemails

I guess you chose the name "FileZilla" for a reason.

As this is a major bug and not a feature (well at least I have plenty of space now) I thought I should report it and warn others. DON'T EVER USE FILEZILLA FOR DELETING FILES ON YOUR DRIVE!

Would be nice if official releases would be double checked for bugs like these. rm -rf / should never be possible!

BTW. There's another bug when a connection is interrupted, one clicks on reconnect and immediately after reconnecting uploads a file. Although the correct folder is being displayed in the window, the file (sometimes?) is uploaded to the wrong folder. Can be quite annoying if one wanted to upload an let's say index.php to a testfolder and it ends up live on a busy website.

Thanks for reading. I'm sorry I can't provide any logs or anything else for that matter. FileZilla was pretty thorough.

Actually, if you have reinstalled your OS Win7/8/8.1 FZS isn't able to convert the stored values in FileZilla Server.xml to %appdata%/FileZilla Server/FileZilla Server Interface.xml

If I try to manually add the config the programm isn't able to read them correctly.

Beacuse an import/export function is currently missing I report this as an Bug with the highest priority which has to bef ixed in the next few day's!

I can't accept that a programm with stored config values in XML don't have an import/export function - this is the first thing/function which MUST BE ADDED!

Your FZC has this function but why is it not included in FZS?

Priority: CRITICAL!!! Solved until: Next few days!!!

#651 FZServer blocks Bug report normal Other
Description

After some minutes, the server blocked file transfer. There were two simultaneous downloads (global limited to 8kb/s) and one upload. After this I tried to stop the service, but i could not do this. The service was not accessible.

#637 FZServer updates the welcome message only during startup Bug report normal Other
Description

I think the welcome message should be updated every time it is changed.

Currently I have to restart the server for the changes to take effekt.

#674 FZServer: Wrong binding on multihomed machine Bug report normal Other
Description

Configuration:

Multihomed windows machine, IP 1.2.3.4 and 1.2.3.5

Filezilla server 0.9.1b, configured to listen on 1.2.3.5 and to use 1.2.3.5 for PASV too

Problem:

opening an ftp (active) session to 1.2.3.5:21 works and the logon completes successfully, but trying to retrieve bombs with a "425 Can't open data connection" error

running a "netstat -an" on the machine running FZserver shows the 1.2.3.5:21 in ESTABLISHED state but also shows some 1.2.3.4:20 in TIME_WAIT state, this seems to indicate that FZServer isn't using the correct IP for the data channel when running on a multihomed system even if it has been configured to use a particular IP a confirm is the fact that using PASV solves the issue since in that case the FZserver will be forced to use the correct IP address

#697 FZServer: crash when connecting via Terminal Client Bug report normal Other
Description

I have connected to my Windows 2003 Server, where FileZilla server 0.9.2 is running, with "Remote Desktops" wich is a part of the adminpack (with this one you can connect to the console of 2003 server). Then FileZilla Interface crashed with dr.watson. But this does not happen always.

#646 FZServer: directory chooser should always show server fs Bug report normal Other
Description

Connect to FZServer using the admin interface on another computer. If you want to add a directory (in the user accounts dialog), the directory chooser shows the local filesystem. But it is no use, if I choose a local directory which does not exist on the server.

Workaround is to press cancel and type in the directory manually.

I think the directory chooser should always display the file system on the server.

#5007 FZServer: more width of directory/alias list in user dialog Feature request normal FileZilla Server duplicate
Description

Is it possible to adopt the user interface of the user dialog in order to change the width of the 'directory/alias list'.

Because in my case I have long directory and alias names, and I want to show more at one view. So doubling the width of that list would be nice).

The file- and directory privileges could than be placed under the directory/alias list.

#686 FZServer: select folder dialog / admin interface Bug report normal Other
Description

I am using FileZilla Server 0.9.2 beta. If I'm connected to a remote Server and want to edit the shared Folders for Groups and Users, the browse for folder dialog gives me not the directory structure of the remote machine. Instead it displays the local filesystem. Manually changing (rename) the path to the wanted directory on the traget machine works.

Another odd problem: no mapping of virtual folders into virtual folders is possible.

Thanx in advance for fixing this, and keep up the good work.

#506 FZserver - Missing Titles Bug report normal Other
Description

Missing a couple of lines of code to set the title of the Groups and Users dialog boxes.

CUsersDlg.cpp BOOL CUsersDlg::OnInitDialog() {

SetTitle("Users"); <<<

CSAPrefsDialog::OnInitDialog();

CGroupsDlg.cpp BOOL CGroupsDlg::OnInitDialog() {

SetTitle("Groups"); <<<

CSAPrefsDialog::OnInitDialog();

I realize this really isn't a bug but I hope it's useful.

Glen

#696 FZserver interface: press ESC in IP Filter of Server Options Bug report normal Other
Description

Steps:

  1. FileZilla Server Interface

  3. Press ESC key in a textbox

Result: The dialog become blank(see attach)

I think the ESC key should close the dialog.
