I'm running on Mac OSX, and I don't recall having this problem with FileZilla on PC.

Please fix this ASAP or I'll have to abandon your fantastic, amazing project.

My project is very large and accesses many files on the server. When I backup the server via FileZilla, this limit causes me to miss backing up files without even knowing it.

I have successfully used Filezilla in the past with all the same settings. Since the last update I have not been able to retrieve the directory listings. I can access the FTP site via Windows Explorer and via browser with no issues. Tried Cute FTP which also worked well Below is the debug report from logging in. I am using an HP8560 FileZilla Client

When I attempt to connect to Windows 2008 IIS ftp server I manage to connect, however when FileZilla attempts to list the directory contents it fails. Settings the debug level to 4 I see:

Using the Windows FTP client, I am able to connect and list the directory contents without any error.

I'm not sure if it's relevant or not, but the user ID I have to use includes the domain (i.e. username = <domain>\<user ID>).

Having trouble getting the correct directory listing from a VMS OS machine. VMS uses version numbers in the file name (Filezilla.exe;1). This allows multiple versions of the same name (Filezilla.exe;1 Filezilla.exe;2 Filezilla.exe;3 Filezilla.exe;4). When I connect and retrieve the directory listing it only displays one version. I need to see all versions.

Any ideas?

Well I've a problem with a specific server. It is a SFTP server (i don't know if it has anything to do ..). When i log in, i am in this directory:

/students/home/zoner/rslinckx/

In this directory, there is a symbolic link (that represent a folder) pointing to

/students/share/gr1216

The problem is that when i double click on this link, Filezilla appears to resole the link, but when LISTing it shows the files in /students/home/zoner/rslinckx/ and not the files in the gr1216/ folder...

It is the same thing if I enter directly /students/share/gr1216 as adress in the adressbar, then it shows nothing when LISTing...

If i enter directly the correct adress in the adressbar it returns me exactly the same thing...

Any hint ? (if you need to test some things on the server, contact me by mail, because this is a ssh and i can't give out the password of course :) )

The date (in Lithuanian) is included as the first part of the filename. The date column is empty.

Upon logging into the Wildcat service the directory listing shows size=0;type=dir;perm=elc;create=20050131092633;modify=20050131092633;(client directory name)- but not the proper contents of the directory.

I have multiple accounts for a variety of different people and it is sometimes necessary to switch to another account using the filezilla client. Generally when I do this the directory listing of the previous connection is still displayed even though I have opened a new connection. The only way I can display the new listing is by exiting the filezilla client and restarting it using the new connection.

Browsers tend to ignore welcome messages but they display directory messages, so implementing those would be nice. (usually done with a welcome.msg in the folder the message is about)

I would love to have a dir sync (both remote->local and local->remote as well as a true sync remote<->local) feture. Curently I just down/upload the entire directory but that overwrites everything, not that it's super bad but it does download things that are unnessassary.

I am using the new snapshot of FileZilla and i have a problem. The "UP" directory now works but i have another problem in that as soon as i use it i cannot then get into any folder i have not previously been in to.

Looking at it, there seems to be a problem with the /:sd:/ I am not sure if it is being stored twice or something but if i delete it from the Remote Site bar i can then travel into directories manually.

Also, it seems when you go down a level from the root directory and then go back, when you next try and go down a level it fails becasue it is trying to enter :sd:/:sd:

Directory upload and "Add to Queue" option for directory do not work on my PC (win XP sp2). Multiple files upload works great even through SSH2. No errors even with Debug mode activated, simply does nothing.

Currently sorting directories and files on the Local side of Filezilla Client results in Upper Case directories being sorted above lower case directories. I have attached a screenshot to show. This also happens for files.

The new version of Filezilla is very good !

I have a big problem with the french language and accents. When I want to transfer pc-> ftp files or directories whose name contains accented characters there is a problem. The first time, the transfer goes well and directories are created and files are transferred.

I turn off Filezilla and restarts.

When I want to update their files, it is impossible.

I found that the file names are changed (UTF8?) on the ftp server.

From then on, it's useless.

Exemple:

Normal name: "Avec les médias" After the restart: "Avec les médias"

When there are 2 directories with the same name but with a different case (ex: "gallery" and "Gallery"), if the directory cache is activated, once you've accessed one of these two directories and you try to access the other one, you see the contents of the directory you accessed first.

Mix up lowercase & uppercase. There is a certain site contains two directories:"downloads" & "Downloads". I first entered download. & then, I find I not manage entering "Downloads". FileZilla thinks "Downloads" is just "downloads" and give me the content of it. Refresh does not work at all.

When

• server contains a file with contents "abc"
• client contains a file with contents "bac"
• files have the same size
• files have same date
• files have different time

Then

• the directory comparison view shows no difference (no colored line).

I am using version 3.3.0.

When you have multiple connection tabs, directory comparison only works for the first tab. Switching to the second tab leaves the directory comparison icon "pressed", and toggling it does not make directory comparison work in the second tab. Closing the first tab renders directory comparison inoperative.

Procedure:

• Open a connection.
• Open a second connection, in a tab.
• Switch to first tab.
• Click on "compare directories icon". Directories are compared.
• Switch to second tab. [You can unclick the directory comparison icon or leave it clicked - it makes no difference]
• Click on "compare directories icon". Directories are NOT compared.
• Close first tab.
• Click on "compare directories icon". Directories are NOT compared.

Alternate procedure:

• Open a connection.
• Open a second connection, in a tab.
• Close first tab.
• Click on "compare directories icon". Directories are NOT compared.

Work-around:

• Restart FileZilla.
• Only compare directories in the original first tab.

With FileZilla 3.9.0-beta1 the directory comparison function shows unexpected results in some cases.

Sometimes if a file or folder is missing on server, all following files or folders are shown as being missing although there are matching items.

I attached an example. FileZilla 3.8.1. with the same settings shows the expected result.

It would be nice if the folders were synchronized, e.g. when I change into a folder "production" and this one also exists on the other side (remote, local) it is automatically opened, too.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open FileZilla and login to ftp site (not secure)
2. View the contents of the directory.
3. Login to ftp site from a UNIX box.
4. Upload files to the same ftp site using "put" command.
5. Display the files from Unix box in ftp location, verify that files are uploaded.
6. Refresh the FileZilla folder to view the uploaded documents in FileZilla interface.
7. New files are not displayed in Filezilla folder view even though they are uploaded successfully unless the FileZill is completely restarted.

Hy, The sort order of the local directory list is like the physical, but the one of the server is sorted alphanumerical descending. They should be the same. It would be nice to have the opportunity to choose.

I'm writing a piece of software that should do FTP(s) download/upload using /n Software's "IPWorks! SSL V6" and FZ (running the latest 0.9.20) Server as a test platform.

(There was an issue with the component not sending PROT in ImplicitSSL mode, which was solved by an undocumented setting in IP!Works. SSL)

Here's another one and I'm not sure if the problem is in IPWorks or FZ. From what I see in the FZ log I thing there’s a good chance that it’s actually a bug in FZ…

1. The sample program connects, and reads the current directory.
2. Then it tries to retrieve a directory listing with a file pattern that will not produce any results (like *.zip0 and there are no such files).
3. Connecting to one remote server this fails right away. On a FZ server running at the local machine it will take numerous retries to end up the same way. The chance of reproducing it on a local server is greatly increased if a low speed limit (like 1kB/s) is set (though the abovementioned remote server easily pulls a steady 40-50K without a problem and does not have any speed limits set).
4. The problem does not occur if a file, matching the pattern is found.

Several “good” ones at the beginning and a “bad” one at the end. On the “good” attempts, between the “150 Connection accepted” and “226 Transfer OK” there’s a “227 Entering Passive Mode” line, which is missing on the “bad” one.

There seems to be a bug in directory listening.

The problem folder is named " #complete# ". Using no ssl connection there is no problem with listening this directory, but if I use FTPES the status window gives following error message:

Fehler: GnuTLS error -9: A TLS packet with unexpected length was received. Status: Server hat die TLS-Verbindung nicht ordnungsgemäß geschlossen Fehler: Could not read from transfer socket: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

All other directorys work fine. Even subfolders from #complete# are accessible via the direct url.

To solve the problem I tried to force utf8 characters in servermanager settings. This had no effect.

Would be nice if you could resolve this bug.

It seem that the command PWD is use for directory listing instead of DIR...?

The "Force showing hidden files" option does not fully work. The command for the command only uses the "LIST -a" command to show the files, but using the "LIST -al" command manually, I was able to see all the hidden files. Not being able to see all the hidden files also causes issues when needing to delete directories and the system cannot do so since there are still hidden files under the directories.

Using 3.1.0.1 on XP SP3, when I connect to ATT (worldnet) server, I get "directory listing failed" on the remote site. It appears that I am connected to the server,

Reverting to 3.0.11.1, everything works correctly.

This problem happens with three different ATT accounts and has persisted for three days.

I am able to connect correctly with another provider's server.

After this problem started I uninstalled FZ and reinstalled with the latest version. But the problem has not disappeared.

I have already seen some people reporting this error and you saying they need to upgrade their FTP server, but this is with a different FTP server (ProFTPD).

In FileZilla 3.2.1, when I am trying to connect through SFTP (FTP over explicit TLS/SSL) to a server, the connection succeeds but the directory listing fails.

A few days back directory listing worked with FileZilla 3.0.8.1.

When you apply a filter to a directory listing, there is no clear visual cue that the listing you are viewing is a filtered one. (except for the icon in the toolbar) If you leave a filter on and forget that it's on, this can be annoying.

It would be useful to have a more visual cue that the list is filtered. You could perhaps change the backcolor of the listing, or display "FILTERED" in bold red font in the status bar of the listing window.

Using FileZilla 3.2.2.1 to connect to the FileZilla server embedded in XBMC the remote directory listing includes the date as part of the filename making it awkward to navigate the remote tree. This seems to be a new fault that didn't exist in a previous version (though I don't know what version the previous working one was).

For example, using Windows XP ftp client to list directories:

The fault only appears to affect filenames with a capital letter at the start, so "hddloader" is reported correctly and is the only one to show a last modified date.

When connecting passively to my LAN FTP server with explicit SSL enabled, half of the files in the directory listing are missing. When I disable SSL -or- passive mode, the file listing is complete. With FlashFXP and SSL enabled, the file listing is also complete. Thus, this is a bug in FileZilla because of the passive SSL mode.

Filezilla 3.0.11.1 isn't doing a directory refresh automatically after a file upload. Prior versions would do the directory refresh. I've never had to set this before so I'm curious if something has changed or got left out.

We are using minio cluster and activated ftp feature. Then we tried to connect with filezilla on a windows machine. It is connecting successfully, and listing buckets fine. But when we tried to get in a bucket, we can't see folders.

PS: When we use MacoS everything is fine. On windows , when we try winscp, it is listing successfully. Only filezilla can't.

When viewing a remote directory FileZilla will display a maximum of 7,998 files. I can log in via SSH and verify there are 17,438 jpg files in the given directory using the command "ls | wc -l".

None of the files hidden by FileZilla are hidden on the server, nor does my FTP login lack the permissions to see them (I use the same login for SSH, and the files are visible there).

This is occurring on a HostMonster.com account. I am unable to test whether this problem is limited to HostMonster.

To reproduce:

1. Put more than 7,998 files into a directory

Each time I open FileZilla, both the local and remote directory panes (at the top in standard view) get larger and larger, up to a point. If I make them smaller by moving the bar upwards, next time I open FZ they have moved down a little.

They seem to stop moving down when they have reaced about halfway (ie directory and file panes are same height).

I am using an embedded FTP server from Green Hills. It follows in the Linux tradition using a slash, '/', to separate directory levels. When I connect with FileZilla it attempts to set the working directory using backslashes, '\', which results in an error. The display shows folders with question marks. (Presumably as a consequence.) FZ then does a PWD and appears to then recognize that slashes are to be used. Subsequent commands use slashes and there are no more problems. Would it make sense to issue a PWD as soon as the connection is opened and use the response to direct how to format all future directory-related commands? See the sequence below:

no error messages and no failed transfer files on the failed tab it happens on multi-tiered subdirectory directories, usually 2 or more deep. The application it happens on the most are zen-cart and almost all updates where you click a folder on your local PC and drop it on the ftp server. Now the error occurs so often, I have to manually click through all folders to check each folder and all its subfolders to copy the files it does NOT copy.

I dont remember this happening in the past, but i got a bug in the php application and tracked it down to a missing file. I retransfered the whole folder again, with its subdirectories and then i started checking and counting files on both ends. It consistantly does not file transfer the 2 and lower directories and worst does NOT report it that it is missing files

I right click on them and press yes to delete then i get this respone: 550 failed to change directory & error faile to retrive directory listing.

Could you fix that for me and delete those 2 directory

In the old Filezilla version you could type a letter and the prompt was moved to the first folder starting with that letter. In version 3 it is not possible.

Can you allow it?

Remarks It also works the other way round, by swapping local and remote tree and icons.

if you browse a directory with many entries and you add one or several to download or add-queue, the browser jumps to the upper position (entry ..) instead of staying where I add the files.

When you are not connected to a server, then disable or gray out the "Enter Command" feature.

Also maybe add a hotkey for it such as CTRL+R.

I love using FileZilla, but we are not allowed to use it at work because there is no way to disable moving of non-empty folders. Is there any way to incorporate this into FileZilla? This would be most helpful for developers that handle many websites and don't want to worry about accidentally moving an entire website into another directory.

Currently when Filezilla Server is configured to run with TLS 1.2 only there are 2 ciphers that are enabled that cause Filezilla Server to fail a PCI 3.2 audit/scan. These two ciphers in question are:

We are running Filezilla Server version 0.9.40 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit machine. Even though under the SSL/TLS settings I have Allow Explicit FTP over TLS checked and also Disallow Plain Unencrypted FTP checked, during an external penitration test it was found that we were still transmitting plain text. Is there something else that I should have configured or is this truly a bug?

When connecting to either a single or multiple servers, the user interface above the message log (the toolbar) randomly disappears. In order to get it back, I have to hover my mouse cursor over the toolbar to get individual buttons back.

This only happens with the OpenCrystal theme. With every other theme, this does not happen.

There is a lot of overlapping of command lines in the top window of filezilla client. As the command lines scroll up the toolbar buttons disappear until I mouse-over them. After the box fills up with commands, then the command write over the 'host', 'username', 'password', and 'port' boxes just below the toolbar buttons. The commands cover the toolbar buttons too.

Filezilla 3.0.0-beta4. Windows 2000 Pro with latest fixpacks and updates. English.

Disconnect (ctrl-D) and reconnect (ctrl-R) hotkeys are not working. Also, Disconnect and Reconnect are missing from the File menu.

I am currently using v 3.2.3 and the Disconnect Botton on the toolbar doesn't work under Vista Business 32bit. The botton works fine under XP, just not vista.

I think there should be a "disconnect from server" button on the toolbar.

If you're not connected to a server and you process the queue, the FileZilla client tells you when connects to the server(s) and when it processes each item in the queue, but it doesn't tell you if/when it disconnects from the server(s).

We generate very large files, often 10-12GB, which we use Filezilla to manage. I've noticed that sometimes when I ask Filezilla to delete a file that is this large, it will frequently disconnect. When I reconnect, I see the file is in deed deleted, but I think this qualifies as a bug. If the disconnect occurs while deleting multiple files, when I reconnect, all files after the one that caused the disconnect remain. I've seen this in both FZ2 and FZ3.

When ever I do server disconnect from Filezilla but in my SFTP server it still shows that the user is online. Is there anyway to logout so that in SFTP server it wont show that user is online anymore.

I'm often away from my computer when a long file transfer is happening, but I don't like sitting idle after long transfers are complete and idling out, or staying online sending keepalive commands.

Could an option be added in the Queue or Transfer menus to automatically disconnect from the server when the queue has finished been processed? Naturally, the default would be off.

I am running Filezilla Client 3.1.4.1 on Mac OS-X Attempting to upload .zip file (28mb) to directory on my website host upload completes to between 80 and 95% complete, stops and I get

Error: Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted

filezilla then restarts the upload (at about 40%). I can see the file in my host directory but it's not the complete file (approx 12mb). It continues to do this.

Transfer mode is set at passive I have tried it with and without "Send FTP Keep Alive Commands" - makes no difference. default action is set to resume

I have used this on and off for the last couple of years with a similar issue but setting the "Keep alive' command has normally sorted this out but this is the largest file I've attempted to upload.

The message "Disconnected from server: ECONNABORTED - Connection aborted" appers in the log and creates the impression that the llink is terminated. Nevertheless the active tranfer is continuing and (usually) completing without any problems. It only/mainly happens with large files, mos probably when the transfer exceeds a certain duration.

non specific information: (information might be helpful even if it is not accurate enough) appears somewhat since version 3.2.x where x might be 2 or 3. I can't tell this for sure, but it happens somewhat since about 2 weeks. It did not habppen before. I am using FZ already since a long time and did not have this issue before. When I upgraded (which I usually do close to any new version) about 1-2 weeks ago this error appeared.

if i change file attribut on system Unix (example : check execute Group Permission), FileZilla disconnected Unix server.

The only really importante feature missing in FileZilla is the ability to enforce disk quotas per user/group and (secondary) per folder.

There is no error message when it tries to upload a file when the disk is full. All that happens is the status bar goes to 100%, and never goes away. Confused the hell out of me for a while o.O

Also I've been using Filezilla for a while now. Only thing I can suggest is making directories delete faster. Listing all the files, and then slowly deleting them all is painful to watch ;)

Please add the current Transfer Type (Auto/Binary/ASCII) as one of the panes in the status bar. I have often made a mistake uploading or downloading a file with an unusual extention (or none at all) when the current transfer type is set incorrectly. It would be good to get a quick visual reminder of the current setting in the status bar.

I'm missing the small feature in the new version that displays the total number of files / total filesize for each directory.

I use some size restricted servers, so it's necessary to see how much of that size do I already use. And the total number of files is necessary for my website report (as for example to know the total number of e-cards created in a specific month).

Not sure if it's possible but could the "Install New Version" prompt appear when closing Filezilla rather than opening it. Generally I am opening Filezilla to complete a task and don't want to stop what I'm doing to do an update, however once the task is completed I would happily allow an update to run.

Can You create a variable to add the Client IP to Welcome Message??

I had to downgrade to 3.8.1 from both 3.9.0.1 3.9.0.3 Only 3.8.1 was stable against a problem I started to have with the new version with the display driver. Every time the display needed to refresh using FileZilla, like connecting to server or confirming overwrite, the display would go black before FileZilla next screen refreshes and the display driver recovers and shows the new screen

I have a display error when I'm using Fz.

The console hides the toolbar at the connection.

FileZilla used to display fine when I connected to this server. I haven't connected in several months, and now the display tree for the server isn't displaying correctly. FileZilla no longer seems to treat a back slash as a directory separator for display purposes. Actual functionality still seems to work correctly, so it is only a display issue. See the attached screenshot, as it shows the situation much better than words can describe. FYI, I am using FileZilla Client 3.0.9.3

While mass processing (about several thousand files), filzilla keeps the log and tries to display it.. next start it reloads the whoe (!) log and tries displaying it again. this results in exhaustive memory usage and a too long startup time.

Nowhere on the interface, once you've connected to a server, does it actually display which server you are connected to. Not the menu bar or anywhere within the window itself.

In the list of queued files and failed / successful transfers, there is a server history of sorts, but this doesn't help to determine where you are currently connected if you are switching between many different servers over a period of time.

The display of the file/directory ownership on the server is incorrect. The FTP authorisation flags (eg. fle or flcdmpe) seems correct. In the appended screen print, all owners appear to be ftp:ftp, but of directory test it is actually root:root.

Not sure the error is in the Client part (or what trade the Server part is).

%t and %d will include current server time or date in Welcome Message just like %v includes current version.

With this new feature it is possible to retreive time/date from FTP server in order to setup time/date on remote embedded devices such as POS terminals and similar.

Using Vista & Filezilla 3.0.0 it does not display which Site you are connected to. When using with multiple site it can be confusing. This could be a tick on the Site Manager dropdown against the last connected server, or displayed in the outer window title.

FileZilla version 3.7.1.1 Windows 7, service pack 1. Issue discovered when connecting over a secure SFTP-SSH protocol connection. The Last modified date of a .txt file is showing the year 2010, when it should show 2013. This only occurs over the secure connection, not in any regular FTP connection protocol. This is not an issue with the remote site as a different FTP program used at my institution displays with the correct 2013 date. Attaching .png screen shopts of both for examples.

Please provide an option for monitoring and automatically uploading "remote" files edited locally without a prompt. Currently, the user must confirm each upload individually. We wouldn't be editing "remote" files if we didn't want them uploaded back!

I think it would be very usefull to make this feature available: Do not use LIST command with selected downloads in queue or for all downloads.

More like a request Please include in the compilation documentation page that you need to move the platform sdk include folder to the top, or some dumb coder (like me) might get frustrated, why FileZilla doesnt compile =]

One way to allow the NAT operations of your router to continue to function when using an SSL secured FTP connection is by using the CCC command. CCC stands for Clear Command Channel. It is a command issued by the FTP client to the FTP server that indicates that the command channel should be unencrypted. Filezilla doesn't browse to that folder. It says:

Directory 'I:\_PHPStorm_\DIG.MX\con.dig.mx' could not be created (error 267: el nombre del directorio no es válido.)

And wont transfer all remote files -some files/folders are transfered, others dont-, where remote path is '(/home/something)/con.dig.mx' where it browses in with no problem at all.

For Uploading/Downloading of files i have selected the option as "ASK FOR ACTION" yet the client some times misses asking the same & overwrites the file.

but while overwriting in the summary it shows the command as "STOR with the file name" but the option doesnt pop up & it overwrites automatically

Hey, guys. I use Filezilla regularly, no issues and love it..until today. After installing your latest update, any attempts to connect to my file share result in it hanging after MLSD when it returns two errors:

Connection timed out Failed to retrieve directory listing

*please* fix this. Appreciate your time.

I'm using filezilla, and there's something I'd like to see be corrected.

Indeed, when I'm connected to a FTP, and enter a folder, at the 1st time, the folder is listed (LIST), but when I already visited this folder, and go back into this one, the file list is no longer listed, whereas the content has changed !

I take a look into options but found no solutions !

FileZilla does not re-open itself after auto-upgrading. I opened the app to work in it, so why, after upgrading, wouldn't it re-open itself (i.e. return me to the state I was in before it did its thing)? Thanks, Atg

After chmodding a file or folder the display is not refreshed, so the old permissions are displayed until the user refreshes.

In Option->Interface setting FileZilla 2.2.8b does not remember its configuration even when "Remember last configuration" is checked. It ignore this setting. This issue seems to be there since version 2.2.5 final.

I had to rollback to server version 0.7.4a because the new version dont send the directory if the home directory is a network drive.

Does not support Chinese character in the "Remote site" window. There will be a question mark on the folder icon in the Remote site window, if click the Chinese folder name, it will create an unreadable code instead.

Unlike 2.2.8, VMS support in 3.0.0 beta 2 on Windows XP SP2 seems incomplete.
