Is it support english file name only ?

I found a bug in FileZilla client 3.2.4.

I connect via SFTP to my university server. This server is a linux system and I access this server with Samba at Windows XP.

When I create directories with special chars (e.g. German Umlaute ÄÖÜß), then Windows can read the directory names correctly, but Linux reads the name wrong because it is not decoding the UTF 8. So "Übungsblatt 1.pdf" is actually "ܜbungsblatt 1.pdf". But that's not the problem.

The problem is, that if I have a directory which is named e.g. "Übung 1" (this is the linux-filesystem name!), then I cannot download something from this directory. Some file actions like rename or uploading are working, some file actions doesn't work. Probably, FileZilla can only handle ASCII directory names.

Server ftp in UTF8 mode. The problem is that I have many files with the same foreign char in name (as ą or ł or ć or ż, etc.) but only a few of them (of files) are not able to download. So when I take such kind of file from "failed transfers" and rename it (get rid of the char from name) and restore back the name (again rename and write the missing char) I'm able to download this file.

To reproduce:

1. Open up FileZilla
2. Connect to an FTP
3. Navigate the "Local Site:" to a network share, i.e.

server\folder with subfolder test

4. Click on the subfolder test and drag and drop it to

the remote folder listing, and FileZilla does not upload that folder.

This works for local drives, however not for network shares.

Also, if you map the network share to a local drive letter, it works.

On the site panel, I have a "sent" directory into I drag and drop files that have been transferred.

When I try with V 3.37.3, the files are not moved.

I open up a remote FTP site. In the window where files from the remote site are listed, I drag and drop one of the files to my Windows Vista desktop. Instead of the file being downloaded and copied to that location (the expected behaviour) I receive an error message which reads "Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation".

After updating to 3.1.6 I can no longer drag&drop files from Windows enviroment in order to store them on my server. It has worked well before switching to the newest version.

Filezilla Client 3.2.0

If I try to enter a space into the name of a file or folder in the window from the server that shows the most detail (its headers are Filename Filesize Filetype ....), the space is executed as an instruction and not entered as a space.

This occurs ONLY when I double click to edit the name. If I use rename, I can enter a space.

Various flavors of this error occur when I try to enter a space into a name elsewhere in the Filezilla window.

It is not possible to filter files based on their attributes.

Attempt 1:

View > Filename filters Edit filter rules Select "Useless Explorer files" Click the "+" to add a new condition Change the first dropdown from Filename to Attribute Click on any other filter on the left (e.g. CVS and SVN directories) Click on Useless Explorer files again

Attempt 2:

Expected behaviour: as expected Actual behaviour: the new attributes condition shows as a Filename condition with no name (presumably the program thinks that the rule is completely empty)

Attempting to set an Attributes condition does not work at all.

Setting the conditions by manually editing filters.xml works, and so long as you don't edit that filter, you can edit other filters and retain the settings. You just have to experiment for a while to get the correct numeric properties :)

I am trying to make a connection to an IBM z890 mainframe running z/VM 5.1 with implicit SSL/TLS encryption. After the connection is made, a 'LIST -a' command is sent to get the directory listing. '-a' is invalid on a z/VM server. Filezilla does not send a '-a' operand to a z/OS server with explicit TLS. Why is the '-a' used for FTP with implicit SSL/FTP? Is this some requirement of implicit SSL/TLS that IBM is ignoring?

Whenever I start filezilla (currently 3.33.0) on NetBSD, I get a modal popup that says:

"Cannot get priority range for scheduling policy 0."

with only an "OK" button to confirm. I wonder about the usefulness of the dialog and if it perhaps should be disabled (or at least on NetBSD?).

Filezilla will fail transferring files with filename starting with the special character '-'. Filezilla will also fail with filenames containing the special character '!'.

Not sure if this problem is only related to SFTP (my case) or to other protocols as well.

I have my hard drive logically partitioned -- the first partition has Windows and FileZilla, the second one is only 40 MB in size for misc. stuff.

When I am transferring a large (51 MB) file to my second partition, at some point (not immediately, but I guess when it runs out of space) FileZilla pops up a window saying that this file already exists and would I like to overwrite it, skip it, rename it, etc. When I choose overwrite it, FileZilla begins transferring the file from the beginning. When I choose rename it, FileZilla creates a 0-byte file with that name and immediately pops up the same window again.

Suggested behavior: pop up a message saying that the volume is out of space and possibly offer to save to a different location.

Tried Edit > Import, found sitemanager.xml, clicked okay. Import Setting dialog popped up, site manager entries was checked. I clicked okay. Was told import was successful. Restarted. No entires in site manager.

Repeated process, same results.

I wanted to switch from XML-file to the registry so I exported my settings, uninstalled Filezilla, reinstalled and selected use registry (force).

The problem is that now when I want to import my old settings into the registry nothing seems to happen. I use the import settings tool and select my old xml-file but I can't get my sites back.

On a closer look, it appears that my sites wasn't even saved when I exported my settings. That really should have been the case.

And by the way, using config files does not exclude multi-user. Just save the users config files in their application data folder.

In the "Local site" pane, try the following:

• Navigate to C:\
• Set focus to the filelist
• Type the name of a directory (directory gets selected)
• Press Enter (it opens the directory)
• Now try to type the name a subdirectory

Expected behaviour: Should work select directory as typed.

Actual behaviour: Doesn't work.

Additional information: Works after a delay. Presumably pressing ENTER doesn't reset the keystroke buffer. It should.

From what I read in the comments of the package in AUR it's because of an update of gnutls

The window is stuck on top, cannot maximize or minimize or lower, so cannot see about 1 inch on top.

Using the 'mv' command itself in a SSH session and it works fine.
If the file size are small (less than 50Mb or so), the moving process will work OK.
The files in the log above is at least 1.5GB in size.

• I have a folder with 1168 files in it.
• All clients timeout when trying to open this folder (filezilla, IE, command line ftp).
• I moved half of the files into a subfolder: loaded fine.
• While loading with latest filezilla client, I see the bytes downloaded increase in 8k increments and freeze at 23360 bytes.

The last disconnected is the filezilla client that disconnects after a timeout. Other clients like IE stay connected.

Steps to reproduce this bug:

• Connect to an FTP server that is nonexistant
• Try to connect to an existing FTP server for the dialog box that shows two options on whether you want to create a new tab or abort connection and connect to the new server
• Select the abort connection option and then try to open a directory.

In version 2 it was possible to open a file to work on it locally.

FOLDER WITH NAME LIKE "sub-domain.domain.ru_rB1QN#P" cant open with Filezilla, but Total Commander can open it

Cannot purge a folder that contains 2014 files since Filezilla goes in time out. Is it possible to increase the time out? Thanks

The file sizes are long strings of numbers with no commas, and they keep changing (as the file is uploaded), so you cannot make out what magnitude they are -- you cannot tell what is billions, what is millions, what is thousands, etc.

Just needs commas so a human can read it.

FileZilla 2.2.30

While downloading files with Filezilla, my C: harddrive got full. When I terminated Filezilla, this resulted in a incompletely saved queue.xml file (see attachment). After restoring additional space on drive C:, Filezilla was not able to recover from the damaged file.

When starting Filezilla, it complaines that the file cannot be rad/parsed.

When terminating Filezilla, it complains that the file cannot be read/parsed, and did not save the current queue, which was then completely lost.

I had to manually delete the queue.xml to make Filezilla working again.

Filezilla should be able to recover by itself. For example, it could ask the user if it should overwrite the damaged queue.xml file during save, or it could automatically overwrite it during save. At termination, I don't see why Filezilla must read the queue.xml before it is saving the queue, the content will be overwritten anyway.

Cannot reload the file queue from file

I was transferring a large list of files and realised I didn't want to transfer the last file in the list.

So I right clicked on the file and tried to remove it from the list, but because other files were currently being transferred, the item I selected kept unselecting every time it started a new transfer.

Then selecting the remove from queue option does nothing when its in this state.

I would expect that either you shouldn't be able to remove items from the queue while transfers are in progress (ie disable the option on the context menu until the queue is paused), or that the item you select should stay selected so you can remove it from the queue.

Running FZ3 Beta 2 on XP Pro

The latest version (v3.7.1) cannot resize the lower pane columns under Win7 64bit. It was working in the past, please help to check, thanks!

After upgrading to 3.2.7.1, I am unable to retrieve the file listing of remote directories. This happens on three different FTP servers (two hosted by GoDaddy.com - one Linux, one Windows, and another Linux server hosted by EHostPros.com).

No matter which server I try connecting to, the progress always hangs and eventually times out (I've extended the T/O length to 180 seconds) with the following as the last comm Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (IP, p1, p2) Command: MLSD

I've always run in Passive mode, and the only other time I've had a similar problem was when trying to connect to a very large directory, which is not the case here. Just in case, I even tried setting my default remote directory on one server to the cgi-bin, which only has a few files in it. It times out, regardless. My router/firewall shows no messages in its security log, and I have no reason to believe my local configuration is the primary cause.

I've downgraded to 3.2.6.1, and it connects without problem or delay. Logfile is attached. Forgive me if this is a repeat of something already posted.

FileZilla betas cannot be run from a directory containing the "#" character in its name (eg. c:\#filezilla). It runs fine when I run it from c:\filezilla.

When I want more then 9 simultanious connections I go to Edit->Settings-> File Transfer Settings and set "Transfer up to 12 files at the same time". 12 is just an example. It should be more then 9 Now if I have queue with more then 9 files Filezilla will not open more then 9 connections :(

I am trying to SFTP to another box on my network. The workstation I am using is Kubuntu 20.04.4 LTS, x86_64, fully patched. Kubuntu uses KDE, and includes Filezilla 3.46.3-1build1.

My network is setup for public key authentication only. All machines have the following:

When I try to SFTP to a box with Filezilla, I am getting tripped up because the UI does not allow me to select a private key in the Browse for Key File dialog. The private keys are missing from the selection:

The dialog also does not automatically select the private key based on a selected public key. (I have to select a public key because that's the only thing displayed).

I don't know if this behavior is specific to Kubuntu, or if it is present in all Debian or Ubuntu derivatives. (This is my first time using Filezilla).

Since 3.62.0, the usual key combination to select all files in pane (Command/a on Mac) does not work. All files must now be selected manually rather than a quick keystroke combination to "select all" before initiating a transfer.

The newly uploaded files are put at the bottom of the list of files, not up at the top. Clicking on the column to sort doesn't help. Very disorienting. This used to work fine.

All my failed transfers have pound (£) signs. If I delete the pound sign and retry, I am successful. The only problem is that we need the pound sign in the file name. They are all pdf files.

I typed 121.0.0.1 instead of 127.0.0.1 and told it to use this all the time. It does. I uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled several times and it always tries 121.0.0.1 and won't let me change it.

I have not been able to update Filezilla as the .exe file that I save to my desktop has an error when I try to open it. It tells me it's not a valid 32-bit file. So far, I've missed the last 3 update notices I got when opening Filezilla.

Since you've introduced the option of updating FileZilla automatically, I haven't been able to use it. Here's what happens:

1. I get the message about a new version and click to download it
2. It starts downloading and just when it looks like the download is completed (the green meter filling the entire download field) there is a pause
3. I get the message: Failed to download
4. When I try to execute the downloaded file anyway I get an error message from NSIS: "Installer integrity check has failed. Common causes include incomplete download and damaged media"

I don't have any similar problems with any other software.

I received a message that the server was not a trusted server, I thought I said accept it, but now I connect and the first file just continues to update over and over (see attached file).

I changed my settings to encription plain and transfer setting to just active and it will not connect at all that way.

My server people tell me they can access the site both plain and TSL without problems.

I have several sites, tried one just now and got the message again for that site and replied to always accept the site and that site now works fine.

I am not smart enough to figure out how to tell filezilla that my other sites are OK to access the server as well and I don't get the message any more.

Any help would be really appriceated.

Whenever I try to update my ticket and click Submit, it says the spambot reported it as 99.8% probability of spam. Erroneous positive detection, and there was no human test like a captcha.

Uploading a small file works (~100 kbytes), uploading a large file (~7 Mbytes) fails with the following dump and report.

I've used FileZilla for a while now and have never experienced anything like this. FileZilla will allow me to connect to my remote server just fine, it will allow me to transfer files (txt, html, php, gif, jpg, etc) over to my remote server just fine, but when I try to grab a whole folder/directory it does nothing. I used to be able to just grab say and "images" folder with lets say 10 images files inside the folder from my local machine, drag the whole folder over and that's it. Now when I try to do this very same thing it's like FileZilla doesn't even recognize that I'm doing anything. It doesn't come up and tell me that anything is processing, or going through, just sits there.

I just reinstalled a clean copy of windows (fully patched and updated) on my machine today because of this problem (thinking it had to be something with my machine) and that did not solve it either. I AM using the newest version of FileZilla.

I also have FileZilla in passive mode too.

I would really appreciate any assistance I can get with this!

Running FileZilla 2.2.1a on XP Pro. I have a folder configured so that visitors can see the folder and can upload files, but they can not see the files in the folder -

• it simply appears to be blank.

FileZilla will not allow me to drag and drop files onto the folder icon, so I tried opening the folder. Of course, since I don't have permissions to do this, FileZilla prohibits it. As aresult, I can't upload files into this directory.

This function works with some other SFTP clients, specifically VanDyke's SecureFX and CoreFTP, so I know that the permissions are done correctly. What I need is either the ability to drag and drop on to a folder icon or the ability to "open" the folder without listing its contents.

Suddenly I can't upload any files with Google Verification Codes in them. I can upload anything else. Very bizarre. I just upgraded to this FileZilla version. I get a bubble at the bottom of the screen saying such and such number of files could not be transferred but it doesn't say why. This happens if I use the head-tag code in my index page or if I upload the html that google gives me.

I'm using FileZilla Server v0.9.20 on Windows XP SP2. In "Shared Folders", I can use Chinese in both directories and aliases. However, if I add a new user in "Users", type some Chinese characters in the description and click OK, then I get the following error message and the user is not added.

Protocol error: Invalid data, could not import account settings. Could not change account settings

3. Add a new user
4. Add "中文" to the description field
5. Click OK

You can't Delete a file or directory from the remote server. None of the menus have 'Delete'. And if you select a file and hit the Delete key, it just moves you up a directory.

Hi, I'm to download a zip file. The browser stops downloading pretending that it is downloaded completely. I tried to download 97MB file but it stops when it is 2-3MB. I disabled my antivirus and the same problem appears. BTW, I recently formatted my computer, before that I didn't face this problem.

I just installed Filezilla client 3.2.3.1.

I installed no additional icons, no language files, shell extension activated, desktop icon activated.

Whenever I drag and drop any file from a remote folder into my Desktop it shows this error:

"Could not determine the target of the Drag&Drop operation. Either the shell extension is not installed properly or you didn't drop the files into an Explorer window."

And then it creates an empty folder called "fz3-12385240204210". The folder name varies.

Both options are wrong, I did install the shell extension and I'm dropping the files into the Desktop which is an Explorer window. I also tried to drop the files into another folder and it didn't work.

The arrow next to the site manager icon currently lists all sites in one long column. When there is more than 50 or so sites defined (on my monitor at least) it means you have to hover over the arrows at either end of the column and wait for it to scroll. It would be preferable to cascade the site names across multiple columns within the screen for quicker access.

Would it be possible to have an option that...

I've found Filezilla doesn't like when the server switches case in its responses. Here are logs from me trying to transfer "TestDir" to my SFTP server:

(The initial CD errors occur because the server has to create "Test Dir" and then the MKD error occurs since the previous MKD command already created "Test Dir" - no problems there.)

I believe the upload errors occur because the client issues the "CD /parent/Test Dir/" command, and the server responds with "/parent/test dir/". Since this is a Windows host, those two locations are the same and are valid. I don't suggest that Filezilla always ignore case, since UNIX hosts are case-sensitive, but maybe if Filezilla had a per-site option to ignore case, that could resolve this issue.

So feature: A per-site option to use case-insensitive comparisons when validating server responses (and other cases, where appropriate).

Read/Write with case-sensitivity.

I nearly lost a lot today with a download->upload of a folder with file patterns like...

AB123.zip ab123.zip AB123.exe ab123.exe

... which, when I downloaded ended up looking like...

ab123.zip ab123.exe

... and then uploaded, with half the data missing!

Please do this ASAP, for your owns sakes!

When I open the dsw (FileZilla.dsw), it lists the Catalan translation as missing.

It appears that the dsw expects the Catalan project to be FzResCatalan.dsp, but the actual file is currently FzResCa.dsp.

I would love to see one central file which stores the FTP settings which can be opened both by the Apple version as the windows version of this great program.

I would like to see support of Cerberus FTP Server's Virtual Root Directory for Users to be included in the next release of FileZilla.

I run an FTP server with FileZilla Server (currently on 0.9.20 on Windows Server 2003 SP1). Users use a great variety of clients to connect, and I have found that some have trouble with the service FileZilla offers. Sometimes, for little apparent reason, a client will not be able connect after it issues a PASV command. It appears to hang, as though it is expecting something further from the server.

One such client is Bulletproof FTP 2.58 under Windows. A trial version can be downloaded from bpftp.com .

I have attached the logs that I have on the server end and what the client reports.

After connecting and authenticating, the client issues PASV and then hangs. The server reports that it disconnects, but the client behaves as though it is still connected and is expecting a response to the PASV command.

Doing an FTPES connection to WebDomainNow.com (with any random username and password) gives a "Unknown certificate" message which says that the certificate expired in 01/01/1970 !!!

Is the certificate faulty, or FileZilla ?

By the way, this is the same certificate mentioned in bug #5693 so it's possible that those code changes caused the problem.

Testing the URL: ​https://update.filezilla-project.org with online certificate checkers report errors. Missing intermediate certificate seems to be the problem. Chain ends at filezilla-project.org which is not a valid Root CA.

This problem has been reported with bug #11934 and rejected. I have tested this at multiple sites and ​https://update.filezilla-project.org always fails to load. Mostly tested with Chrome or Firefox on macOS.

When connecting to a ftp server that has some sort of certificate issue you are presented with an Unknown Certificate dialog box that displays a malformed Subject of certificate section with all the contained text stacked on top of one another.

When switching between multiple certs in a chain, the text appears to overlap text from the previously viewed cert, making it difficult to read.

SSL certifiactes should be displayed to the root signer.

I only have one public IP address availeble, and another FTP server is using port 990 for ftps, so it would be nice if it was possible to configure FileZilla Server to listen for ftps on a different port.

Or, is there some way to tweak the current version innto using a port different from 990?

I suggest add language selection to main menu. If a user selected a language that he does not know by mistake, It will be hard for him to go back to the right language. I like FileZilla very much. Wish it get better and better:)

I noticed that when I set a bunch of files to upload and they are queued, I cannot change the remote directory into another directory while files are queued to upload. It would make sense to allow you to change remote directories for other files you want to queue and upload instead of having to wait until the last upload finished before you can queue more files to upload.

The range is now 5-999. Why don't you let user to create his own policy? I think 1-999 is OK. I'd use a value 3 for instance...

Change default location for configuration files on *N?X systems to .config/filezilla if .config/ exists

I'm contacting all software developers that create software that clutters up our home directories with .<name> folders to have their configuration moved to .config/<name> in accordance with ​https://specifications.freedesktop.org/basedir-spec/basedir-spec-latest.html

There's a long history here when it comes to the general case of "dot files", but the $HOME/.config directories that I specifically mention have an origin in the XDG Base Directory Specification and their environment variables:

• $HOME/.config is where per-user configuration files go if there is no $XDG_CONFIG_HOME.
• $HOME/.cache is where per-user cache files go if there is no $XDG_CACHE_HOME.
• $HOME/.local/share is where per-user data files go if there is no $XDG_DATA_HOME.

Windows users may recognize this as a parallel of what Microsoft has had in Windows NT since version 4 (albeit that the names changed in version 6.0):

• %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/ a.k.a. %LOCALAPPDATA% — where per-user data files for this machine go
• %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Roaming/ a.k.a. %APPDATA% — where per-user data files that a roaming user can access from multiple machines go
• %USERPROFILE%/AppData/Local/Temp/ a.k.a. %TEMP% — where per-user temporary files go

The idea is that per-user files can be (amongst quite a lot of other things) application data files (machine-specific or roaming), application configuration files, cached files, and temporary files, and applications place them in subtrees rooted at these particular directories.

This way we can our keep home directories clean!

One of the most time saving features of CuteFTP was that it would automatically change the folder on the server as I changed it on the client.

For example, if I started off in a local directory called c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\ and remote directory / and I double clicked the local CSS folder to go to c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\CSS, CuteFTP would automatically try to visit /CSS/ and from there if I double clicked the directory Admin to go to c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\CSS\Admin, CuteFTP would automatically try to visit /CSS/Admin.

CuteFTP works this both ways too. If I then decided to move up one directory on the server so I'm in /CSS/ (instead of /CSS/Admin) it would move me up one directory to c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\CSS\ (from c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\CSS\Admin\). It was smart too -- it only did this if the directories were named the same; if I was in c:\Users\Noah\Sites\Domain.com\CSS\ locally but /SomeOtherDirectory/ remotely and browsed up a directory remotely to / it would _not_ go up a directory locally.

This feature saves TONS of time for web development.

On Mac Osx 10.5.5 the fonts are huge. Which makes it very hard to get the overview, because you can only have a few lines of text visible. An option to make the font smaller would be very very helpful

When requesting a directory listing from the FileZilla FTP Server, files that were modified very recently are listed with the HOUR and MINUTE fields; files that were modified long time ago are instead listed with the YEAR field.

Normally FTP servers change the format after about a year, which is - as far as I have understood - also the intended way the FileZilla FTP Server should work (see the comment in ticket #1317).

However, this is not the case, as the corresponding code does compare the difference between the current date and the file date wrongly; the related code in Permissions.cpp:

t2 and t1 are values of type FILETIME (see ​http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms724284(v=vs.85).aspx), which stores the time in 100-nanosecond intervals. As a nanosecond is 10^{-9s, which is 1 000 000 000, a value of 10 000 000 in a TIMESTAMP equals one second.}

Therefore the comparison should read like 10 000 000*60*60*24*350 instead of 1 000 000*60*60*24*350.

With the current code, FileZilla changes the format of the listing after 35 days (because of the missing zero).

Hi why not change from svn to git. using gerrit and gitblit plugin.

It would make reviewing code and upload code so much easer to review and for code reviewing in a good designed website.

And using gerrit 2.11 would let users upload changes without having to download and upload through ssh.

I changed the language from Traditional Chinese to English in the Settings dialog. It changed the main menu at the top to English, but the lower components were still displaying Traditional Chinese. After I restarted Filezilla, all elements were correctly displayed in English.

I would like to be able to give my new user accounts a temporary password and let the user change the password remotely.

If I try to change password with server\change password reports that odl password is not correct. If I try chmod works fine. This is because Filezilla adds quote on begining and end of paasword phrase. Exp. chmod passold passnew - this is right, but filezilla sends to server chmod "passold" "passnew" - wrong. You have to sent without quotes. Then works.

When uploading or downloading a file, it should have the possibility to change the ftp address. Sometimes we are using an local FTP like 10.0.10.10 and then we need to log out of the network and go home, but we want to continue the download easily, so the option to change the address to the real IP or vice versa would be great.

When we select sftp using ssh2 option in the site manager, the default port 21 should change to 22.
