When uploading files that is like above 300 kb in filesize, Cisco VPN times out.. This goes for the other employees at the office (and also when we're out of the office) ...

But it's only the filezilla client we got the problem with, so therefore this bug report.. Other ftp clients works just fine (we just like your work better - if it wasnt for this problem :) )

Upon logging into the Wildcat service the directory listing shows size=0;type=dir;perm=elc;create=20050131092633;modify=20050131092633;(client directory name)- but not the proper contents of the directory.

For the last week or so, each time I try to log in it tells me that it can't connnect to the server. I type in my host, username, and password, click quickconnect and then this comes up in the log... and pretty quickly:

I updated my filezilla version to the current one and it still did this, so I tried deleting filezilla from my computer and then re-added it but it still keeps happening. Any help you could give me would be very much appreciated.

I have 2820 jpg and gif image files in a directory and one subdirectory, but only 1997 files show in filezilla (and the directory).

It seems that the client is trying to resume the transfer from the total bytes of file on server, not on the client.

Server is proftpd and can resume files (other clients working) Connection is ftpes (AUTH TLS) Filezilla 3.2.4.1 on Vista_x64

it should use a command like REST 2147473408 (2gb), not REST 12025908427 (this is the total bytes of the file)

After transferring files from wordpress version 2.6.3 to my host on May 6th at around 7:30 CST, the transfer jumbled the name of my blog. The correct name, which I double checked is entered correctly, should be tiatipsonantiaging.com. After the file transfer it came out tiatiaposantiaging.com

Navigation bars are not showing up on webpage. I am using internet explorer 8 to view and none of the navigation bars are there. I am using microsoft publisher 2007 to create webpages and Aplus.net as my server.

FileZilla will fail when transfering files that are named with Arabic letters.

clicking on any of the buttons has no effect. Only button that works is the "Open Site Manager" button. But even this one, not when clicked directly, only when clicking on one of the items in the dropdown list.

since install of newest version file uploads name only and then asks if you want to overwrite , I click yes and the same pop up asks the same question. File never gets uploaded but the file name does. I am uploading pictures in gif and jpg. I tried to change permissions on folder but that did not change anything. All other versions have worked great up till now. Great work thanks

Recently I found out that Filezilla saves the passwords of recent visited servers in an unencrypted file: recentservers.xml

Making it really easy to steal the passwords as soon if you have access to the computer.

This is in my eyes a security threat that should be taken care of.

since the last 3 versions of filezilla client we experience that if we use an ftp proxy ( witch we are obligated ) to connect to the internet FTP servers that downloads from ftp servers resume over the actual filesize. Meaning that if you download a file of say about 300MB it doesn't stop at 300MB it always gives an error message at the end of the file concerning retry and it starts downloading the file from scratch. But it still gives the download completion as "> 100%" and this goes on and on untill you end the download. After enough searching I stumbled on the fact that it was related to Filezilla client. I tried the same setup with another software like Core FTP LE and there the file just ends at his size and is saved.

Can you investigate this,

When I try to open a file without accent, there is no problem. When a folder has an accent, it's possible to go as far as the file required, but then it becomes impossible to take it from the FTP to open it. When I use internet Explorer 8, there is no problem. But when I use Filezilla I get the message 550/data/Administration/information ÃlÃ"ves (this represents élèves in French)

FileZilla client does not appear to interpret large directories correctly. Instead of showing the correct date it will show an erroneous date like 1/1/970. This only appears to be happening on larger directories that are 15 meg in size.

I have just downloaded filezilla version3.2.4.1 and have entered all my details but when I press connect I get the following message: connecting to 213.171.218.174:21 connection timed out could not connect to server I read the notes on your website and searched through previous questions which talk about incorrect ip addresses so I have checked that info . Also have checked that my firewall is set to allow filezilla access and that is set OK. Please can you advise me what to try next?

All my failed transfers have pound (£) signs. If I delete the pound sign and retry, I am successful. The only problem is that we need the pound sign in the file name. They are all pdf files.

I just updated to the latest version, 3.2.4.1 and now cannot connect to an IIS FTP server protected by a Windows ISA firewall.

I can connect to my FTP site fine and the target directory lists fine as well, but when I attempt to FTP any file, I get the following:

i am using version 3.2.4.1, and i am try to download from our headquarters on USA.

i know the FTP use there is cuteftp server. the issue i am having is when i am download file biger then 20MB the sessin never end, what happen is that the file is download to my local drive and i see the 100% completd, but it stay in queued and keep download and the file on my local drive keep grown.

i can successfully download file smoler then 20MB, also this happen only to this site and it doesn't happen when i am using cuteftp client or smartftp client.

more details:

1. i am behind cisco nat.(remeber this doesn't happen when using cuteftp client behind the cisco)
2. when i am use filezilla from other adsl connection it work.

i am working with default setting on filezilla and i don't know why ther is diff result between filezilla to cuteftp

Filezilla worked great for a few weeks. Then it quit logging in successfully. i eventually found debug and turned it on. now i see the problem it tells me is that it could not complete directory download. after setting my host default path to a very small directory, i find that it got all the files for list, but it hangs after the last folder. i've tried increasing the timeout to 60 seconds. but no help. i've tried using coreftp lite and it works. but i really like Filezilla more. If you have some way to fix this, i would really appreciate it.

After I upgrade to the latest version ( v3.2.4.1 ) of the FileZilla Client, it just can't show non-English characters correctly. I see the "2009-04-14 - FileZilla Client 3.2.4-rc1 released" notes about "Always use MLSD to retrieve directory listings on servers supporting it". I think it cause this problem Is it possible to turn it off to avoid this problem? Or is it a bug?

I'm using 3.4.2.1 Korean version in WindowsXP.

Some folder have korean name.

When I cliked korean folder, I can see the file in it.

But korean folder's name changed into unreadable character.

and I can't access other korean folder.

If folder's name contains other language,

In use: Filezilla 3.2.4.1 Client (Reloaded today)

Operating system: Windows XP Fillazilla.exe is ticked in the Windowes Firewall exception list.

Other website used here has no Filezilla log in problem. Webhost has checked and it is working at their end.

I was created folder ' ' (3 spaces). Filezilla shows me it creation time (14:22) instead real name.

Filezilla 3.2.5 is not preserving timestamps, but SmartFTP is doing it flawlessly, when dragging from local window to remote window. "Preserive Timestamps..." is checked in the "Transfer" menu of Filezilla but the log shows that Filezilla is not even attempting an MFMT command. FEAT shows MFMT is supported.

If the problem is that the server isn't using seconds, then Filezilla should be more flexible to omit seconds (a feature request).

Files with ISO8859-2 character in the name are skipped when listing directory. Attached are two screens - one form Filezilla and second one from Firefox. As you can see in Filezilla only two files are listed in the directory...

Just (tried to) upgrade from 3.2.4.1 to 3.2.5

1. "inside" upgrade failed while downloading ("Timer creation failed")
2. After normal download from the website and installation of 3.2.5 over 3.2.4.1 (keeping existing setup), any attempt to connect crashes not only Filezilla, but Windows as well. Reboot.
3. ZoneAlarm firewall did NOT ask for Filezilla re-authorization, as it usually does after upgrade.
4. After downgrade to 3.2.4.1 everything is OK again.
5. If it ain't broken don't fix it...

The Download and Add to Que option is disabled. I have tried disabling my firewall and included Filezilla in the exceptions. But still not working.

within the past several versions of filezilla i can no longer access folders from remote sites where the first character in the folder name is a tilde (~).

Hello, I´m not sure if this really is a bug or a configuration issue but on the last versions of FileZilla client files bigger than 2 TB are not displayed on the remote site window. The version I´m using is 3.2.6 on Windows XP Professional Sp2 but it didn´t work on the previous version as well. A collegue of mine is running the version 3.0.11 which doesn´t show this behaviour, all files are shown correctly within his client. Best regards Harald Scherer

I have the .gz extension associated with 7-zip, but FileZilla client starts winzip instead. Doubleclicking in Explorer does start 7-zip.

Latest update 3.2.6.1 doesn't download attachments with hashed filenames from SMF Simple Machine Forum software 1.1.9 as binary although I choose binary, and unchecked []treat files without extension as asci. BTW version 3.2.6 (yesterday) with settings as above did download them as binary. BTW ws_ftp and cuteftp have no problems, even on auto.

I am currently using version 3.2.6.1 on Win XP Pro SP3 on an Intel T5500 (if that makes sense on the processor).

In previous versions of Filezilla, I was able to save many site-specific bookmarks linking a local directory with a remote directory. Currently, whenever I create a new site-specific bookmark, it overwrites the previous bookmark, allowing me to store only one bookmark at a time.

I just updated to 3.2.6.1 on Windows XP Pro SP3, Intel Celeron D @3.2GHz, 2GB RAM.

Now, 95% of the time, no matter what server I connect to, uploading or downloading any file causes the program to crash.

The log attached from several attempts to upload/download from various servers (actually, just two servers: one that hosts various website for me, and ftp.microsoft.com as anonymous).

Reverting to 3.2.4.1 resolved the problem.

I am using version 3.2.6.1 My OS is Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

Problem I login in successfully, but when I try to upload a file, I get the code listed below. It appears that the system is trying to login again before uploading the file. When I disconnect, I can turn off the process queue, then turn it back on and the file is uploaded, but this is not how it is suppose to work?

Any help would be appreciated

Hello, I updated my FileZilla Client to v 3.2.6.1 and now I cannot connect to any of my existing ftp servers, it says Connection timed out. My FileZilla was working just fine before this update.

The server > force showing hidden files does not work properly for me (no files showing). I've tested using a linux version and everythings is fine there. Actually the windows version I have sends "226-Options: -l" to the server where it should send "226-Options: -a -l".

Steps to reproduce: 1) log into an FTP server where you have at least two directories (say, A and B) 2) In the server pane (top right), open folder A so that all files in that folder appear in the bottom right pane 3) Drag a file from the bottom right pane to the B folder in the top right pane. Note that the mouse pointer shows we are in copy mode (plus sign).

Expected result: File is copied from folder A to folder B

Actual result: Files is moved (RNTO) from folder A to folder B

I uninstalled Firefox, and fond that it also uninstalled FileZilla.

All the files were gone in the FileZilla folder.

Fortunately when I reinstalled FileZilla my preferences and settings were still available, and everything was back to normal, or at least I assume it is. I have not yet put it to the test. Wayne Sallee Wayne@…

Version 3.2.6.1

When downloading a .zip file of size 322MBytes, the download continues past 100% and the downloaded file grows to be larger than the source file. Even when the cancel button is clicked the transfer continues. I had to close the window to cancel the transfer. The downloaded zip file can be opened, but it is not possible to extract the files. Get message that archive is in an unknown format or corrupted.

I'm currently using 3.2.6.1 on a PC running Windows XP. The host and username is recognized but the password fails each time upon connecting. I changed the password to the hosting account and restarted the computer a few hours before trying again but still nothing.

The default mode kept giving me errors on 1and1 hosting. It took downloading coreftp, and receiving their autoprompt about switching to "active" mode for me to realize that was the problem.

Creating an autodetect, or autoprompt for this error would be a boost to user friendliness.

Some file transmissions from a SAT receiver via FTP work and some don't. Log file is attached.

FileZilla does not download the files, whose name has been used in a bulleted letters as "äöüõ " These letters are used in finnish and estonian languages same error will occured if these letter is used on directory name. Error: /Mäng Marilt.jpg: open for read: no such file or directory its possible to rename the file, and then download is possible.

My FileZilla version is 3.2.6.1. on Windows XP

There is an extended delay of around 1 to 2 minutes starting the client. Attaching a process monitor (logs attached) it can be seen that the process is trying to open the locale directory by traversing the hard drive. When the "locales" directory in c:\program files\filezilla is renamed to "locale" there is no delay.

When I tranfer the file to Windows the remote file is shown as a folder.

I.e. the Windows icon is a buff folder rather than the icon for a report file (which is green lines on a white background).

When I transfer PHP or HTML files, it defaults to ASCII mode and adds a new line after each line. This happens on both the download and the upload. If I switch to Binary mode, there are no problems but sometimes ALL the new lines disappear and the whole file is in one line.

This problem is occurring on 3.2.7-rc1. It had been previously been working for the system below. And, as can be seen the MFMT and MDTM feature are supported but never tried. The log is:

If you specify a remote folder to open, when you create a new entry in the site manager, the remote folder will not open if you choose to connect the site by the quickconnect list.

If you start the connection by the site manager or by the site manager icon in the toolbar, the folder is opened as expected.

I'm using filezilla client for win32, version 3.2.6.1 under windowsXP SP3

Directory listing fails when connecting to Globalscape’s SFTP server v 3.3.0 other sftp clients work fine with same account. Contacted Globalscape support and was informed that their application is functioning as designed and that the problem needs to be resolved by Filezilla. Upon further investigation I discovered that this problem started with Filezilla version 3.1.0, versions 3.0.9.3 and before work fine.

The first line is wrong and the flash movie does not play. A work-around solution is to transfer the file using Transfer Type = Binary.

I'm using the latest version of FileZilla.

With the previous version, if FileZilla, if you get disconnected, you could click on the "R" to reconnect. Now with the recent update, when you get disconnected, you have to click on the disconnect, so that you can then click on the "R" to reconnect. Wayne Sallee Wayne@…

Further to #4706, I believe than one CAN distinguish between links and files. May I suggest you consult manual for 'find' command? The primary test 'type' covers it.

I have created 2 links, jim and fred. As you can see from the following screen dump file type 'd' designates a directory.

Once Filezilla has established the Unix type of the resolution file it should be straightforward to recreate the equivalent in Windows.

I setup pureftpd and vsftpd on my test server and if I have pureftpd running (which uses MLSD for listings) and then stop and start vsftpd (which uses LIST for listings) it will give the following error on filezilla when trying to refresh the listing until filezilla is closed and reopened.

As you can see it tries using MLSD even though vsftpd doesn't support MLSD.

When connected to a client's ftp site(a fortune 100 company), I often can't successfully download or upload files. The process gets 95-100% complete and then puts up a pop-up 'target file already exists' when it tries to restart. If I choose 'Overwrite', the same thing happens again. Sometimes, usually with smaller files (< 10MB), filezilla works. The windows command line client always works. I used to use LeapFTP and it always worked. I'd like to move to FileZilla but 50% of the times I need an ftp client, it is for this site. What kind of traces can I get for you to help figure this out? Unfortunately, the site is restricted so I don't have a way to tell you how to recreate the problem yourself.

Similar to existing ticket# 4676 but occurs with Windows XP SP3 Fr too.

10 files from 148 are affected by a size mismatch and a corrupted content. Each time running FileZilla, the 10 files are transfered, with a bas size.

Went to verify on second computer: same result filezilla v3.2.7 OS windows XP SP3 Fr

Different file formats are affected : BMP, MDB (Acces file)...

Error is repeatable with Windows vista ultimate computer and windows xp computer.

Source is NAS server : Acer Aspire Easystore firmware 2.1 (Samba powered) FTP embedded server : PureFTPd

It seems like there is a problem when I try to transfer files which contain any of the 3 danish characters: "æ" "Æ" "ø" "Ø" "å" "Å".

The files can be managed correctly inside my NAS-environment, but not via File-Zilla.

I have attached a screendump which shows some of the files that I can not access. (Red arrows).

I use Filezilla 3.2.7.1.

1. I connect to some ftp site.
2. Then I double click on a folder which contains ~10 000 files.
3. (Filezilla wants to open the folder and list all files now)
4. So I get a response:

"Odpowiedź 125 Data connection already open; Transfer starting."

5. I wait a looong time and nothing happens.

I think that before Filezilla opens a folder, it loads all file names to the memory. If folder has 10000 files, there is a problem.

My suggested solution: ...make some cashe? or load only those file names, which are on the first screen?

Compare: Total commander doesn't have this problem.

The firewall of avg doees't trcognize that filezilla is trying to access then is not noticed by the firewall and this causes an automatic blocking. I recently downloaded the new upgrade of FileZilla and now I get an error everytime I attempt to login. Upon logging in, I get 2 errors. First error states "Critical Error". Second error states "Could not connect to server". I never had a problem before upgrading and I am not doing anything differently.

Something or someone is uploading a new index page every day without authorised access. I believe the new index page contains some sort of virus as it affects my system considerably.

Every day I have to re-load my version of the index page, but as I cannot do this every hour this does mean that there will be times when visitors to my site will be getting this potentially harmful page.

I'm pretty sure this is a bug. When I use the options in the quick connect button 1) to erase the contents of the quick connect bar and 2) to clear the quick connect history, the Reconnect to Last Server button in the toolbar still recalls the server that I just erased.

This has to be a bug. Erasing the quick connect bar and its history should also remove that information from the log. Otherwise, the features are useless.

Even worse, the reconnect button remembers the passwords! Even worse, the reconnect button remembers everything even after a restart.

This is bad! This is a disaster for those of us who are on public or work computers!

this is really strange. when i upload files via ftp (sftp doesn't seem to be affected), they get smaller on the server after upload. but this doesn't happen with all types and on all hosts. i've made a few tests:

chunks:

• txt
• html
• (no extension)

doesn't chunk:

• ctt
• exe
• ods
• rar
• log
• conf

i couldn't find other file types which trigger this error. version 3.2.7.1. it fails on extra.hu, bplaced.net and godaddy free hosting but it doesn't on sf.net's ftp service.

i've tried to find out where the bug originates from. 3.0.1: fails with html and txt, doesn't with extensionless 3.0.2: fails with all 3 and since that version, the same result with the few releases i've tried.

i can give you an ftp account to one of the failing hosts in case you need it.

the really strange thing is that if i upload a txt, it displays as a smaller file than the one on my pc. if i then download it via http, or download via ftp with total commander, it really downloads a smaller and different file. BUT if i download the 'smaller' file via ftp using filezilla, it downloads the original bigger file (shasum matches).

if i upload files with total commander, the size is correct and it downloads the same file in all three ways (ftp@filezilla, ftp@totalcmd, http).

any ideas?

After upgrading to 3.2.7.1, I am unable to retrieve the file listing of remote directories. This happens on three different FTP servers (two hosted by GoDaddy.com - one Linux, one Windows, and another Linux server hosted by EHostPros.com).

No matter which server I try connecting to, the progress always hangs and eventually times out (I've extended the T/O length to 180 seconds) with the following as the last comm Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (IP, p1, p2) Command: MLSD

I've always run in Passive mode, and the only other time I've had a similar problem was when trying to connect to a very large directory, which is not the case here. Just in case, I even tried setting my default remote directory on one server to the cgi-bin, which only has a few files in it. It times out, regardless. My router/firewall shows no messages in its security log, and I have no reason to believe my local configuration is the primary cause.

I've downgraded to 3.2.6.1, and it connects without problem or delay. Logfile is attached. Forgive me if this is a repeat of something already posted.

Hi, when executing the program on my Windows XP pro corp operating system running SP3 (P4 system with 2gigs of RAM), Filezilla locked up and then causes my computer to be rebooted. It happens just as the program is opening the window panes, as they expand outward to form the gui before you can use the program. They almost expand completely, but then the system locks up and the mouse stops moving and then the computer reboots after about 30 seconds of being locked up.

Now, this is not all the time, but after rebooting, sometimes it works correctly and does not cause a system crash/reboot. It has done this same action with the two previous versions of Filezilla.

Here I try to rename this kind of files on me host. Filezilla answer me 'no such file or directory'. The same hapens if I try to upload the files that has special chars like 'ç~^{´' on their names.}

I already tried to switch the transfer kind to ASCII but it didn't work.

If matters, my Fillezila language is portuguese(brazil).

(I tested doing the same operation with SmartFTP and it worked. Don't think I'm comparing both).

Hello all, I'm using Win 2003 Server fully patched, downloading from remote server which is running the same. I'm using the 3.2.7.1 FileZilla client. (At the end of this email I have the info I got from the About screen.) Problem: I was downloading a 38mb zip file, and the download never ended, the file grew and grew. Tried again after exiting and reloading FileZilla, same happened. The funny thing is this: in the 2nd download I waited after the file reached and passed the size it should've been, and I aborted the download. In both zip files the compressed file was fine. I guess some junk gets appended to the zip or some infinite loop kicks in after the file was done.

Good thing I still keep the old 3.x version which works super well.

Just installed the latest version 3.2.7.1

"Site manager->advanced settings tab->remote directory input" does not support names with dots (.) anymore. It says "Remote Directory path cannot be parsed" This message is totally erroneous. It should let us enter whatever we want, and not perform validation. Furthermore, a lot of us can't tell what the underlying OS is...

For instance, I need to access the folder: ​ftp://server.com/example.com

I can't type "example.com" which is the subdirectory in which I need to go. Even when I select the "Unix" dropdown options.

When I start the filetransfer to the server then the error dialog opens, because the files already exists, some with older dates. When I click into the dialog at the time it opens and I move the mouse cursor, then the mouse cursor is changed into an arrowed icon. One arrow of this icon shows to the top and one to the bottom. The icon is like: ⥏⥏

Now FileZilla hangs. And all the GNOME desktop hangs completely. The programs are still running, but I cannot use my keyboard and my mouse, no reaction because of the wrong mouse icon and the FileZilla dialog box. I can only turn the computer off using the power buttom.

I have been using FileZilla 3.1.10, since May of 2008; I have recently updated the version 3.2.7.1. I have noticed that when I have multiple programs open when running the new version, my entire system crashes. It will take about four or five times of unplugging the computer to get it back up. Also once I do get up and running, I right click the file, and Download and Add files to queue, I use to be able to click on to start the file downloading.(it is now grayed out) Now I must select View/Edit to start the file downloading. The file does download but is not going to where I originally had pointed. The file being downloaded has a different filesize than what is actually being downloaded.

I can't upload anymore. something new about the server is not allowing me to delete .pureftpd filenames, even though they are being created.

it is consuming all my web space, and I have some ISOs to upload. my uploads take days to complete at 384kbps. so this may be causing filezilla to leave large garbage behind.

please change filezilla to remove the . in front. that should do it. Also, please fix the bug that leaves the trail of garbage on uploads that last several days. thanks. thanks

by the way, it doesn't matter what ftp client I use, I can't delete them. I suppose that's a server issue.

I have to access a BBS with some folder names that have spaces in the filenames. Filezilla used to be able to access all folders, but now, if I try to access a folder with spaces in the file names, I get the following error.

There is a specific site that I cannot retrieve the directory listing of, and as such am forced to use an alternate FTP Client (LeechFTP)

hello, after I opened filezilla I got a message saying there is an updated version available, so I updated filezilla. now when I want to connect to the servers, it gives me this message;

When I try to upload a file and they alredy exists I can see the options in both languages.

First of all: I have read ​http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_Set and you could reject this request simply based on the fact that UTF-8 isn't used. However, please read on.

The problem is that renaming works, but downloading fails. I would have understood if both failed. This inconsistent behavior seems strange and is a bug in my view.

The server is a CentOS 4.7 with OpenSSH 3.9p1. It's using iso-8859-1 as default charset. When FileZilla connects, it deactivates UTF-8 (because the output of the ls command contains illegal characters I guess - a test file named "æøå.txt"). When I try to download the file "æøå.txt", it fails:

However, renaming works:
