connect to server timeout

Reported by: billphelps Owned by:
Priority: normal Component: FileZilla Client
Keywords: server connection timeout Cc: billphelps
Component version: Operating system type: Windows
Operating system version: 8.1

Description

I am using Filezilla version 3.10.0-beta3.
Avast free edition anti-virus(latest version 2015.10.0.2208)
Windows 8.1 platform(up to date).

I have four websites to maintain. 3 hosted with '123reg' and 1 hosted with 'Compila'
No problems with connecting and updating the 3 '123reg' hosted sites.

When accessing the Compila hosted site I get the following log:-
Status: Resolving address of tondushooting.org.uk
Status: Connecting to 195.238.172.213:21...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...
Status: Initializing TLS...
Status: Verifying certificate...
Status: TLS connection established.
Status: Server does not support non-ASCII characters.
Status: Connected
Status: Retrieving directory listing...
Command: PWD
Response: 257 "/" is your current location
Command: TYPE I
Response: 200 TYPE is now 8-bit binary
Command: PASV
Response: 227 Entering Passive Mode (195,238,172,213,142,195)
Command: MLSD
Error: Connection timed out
Error: Failed to retrieve directory listing

The last time that I updated the Compila hosted site was 29th November 2014 so would have used version 3.9.0.6 at that time.

I reported the problem to 'support' at Compila and they could find nothing wrong and could access the servers with my website files on.

I have always updated to the latest Filezilla version and in this case have solved my problem by reverting to version 3.9.0.6 - all now works fine. There seems to be a possible bug with version 3.10.0.

To confirm or rule out a client-side problem, can you connect using http://ftptest.net/ using Explicit FTP over TLS as protocol?
