Issues with password authentication

Description
When using filezilla it appears that passwords are authenticated when they are correct and when they begin with the correct password.
example password is pass1234
pass1234 will authenticate and pass1234567 will authenticate.
I have tested this on both windows 7 and on linux 64bit and both behave exactly the same.
Not sure if its a client or server error but something is going wrong

Are you talking about FileZilla Client or FileZilla Server?
In case of FileZilla Client, which server software do you use, that is, what kind of server do you connect to? Maybe the password is limited to 8 characters in that server software?
