#5707 closed Bug report (outdated)
Transfer of files with umlauts fails when using the transfer queue
Reported by: | Tobi | Owned by:

Priority: | normal | Component: | FileZilla Client |
Keywords: | Cc: | ||
Component version: | Operating system type: | Windows
Operating system version: | Windows 7 |
Description
During a backup transfer (server to client) of about 3181 files
always the same jpg files wont be transferred, most likely
because they include German umlauts and special characters
like ü and ß.
But downloading each of these files directly without
using the queue succeeds. So something is not working
when using the queue.
Attached a screenshot showing some of the files.

The file is actually called "Wüstenheuschrecke",
only FileZilla displays it wrong as shown in
the Screenshot.

I am able to reproduce this using "reset and put again to transfer list":
So here is the log:
Status: Starte Download von /www/.../WeißeAssel1.jpg
Befehl: PASV
Antwort: 550 WeißeAssel2.jpg: No such file or directory
Fehler: Kritischer Dateiübertragungsfehler
Antwort: 227 Entering Passive Mode.
Befehl: RETR WeißeAssel1.jpg
Antwort: 550 WeißeAssel1: No such file or directory
Fehler: Kritischer Dateiübertragungsfehler

Your serve ris broken, it does not support UTF-8.
Please upgrade to an UTF-8 capable server or refrain from using non-ASCII characters. Any other solution is outside the FTP specifications and thus not supported.
See http://wiki.filezilla-project.org/Character_Set for details.

Why is it working when I right-click in FileZilla on the
file and download but not when I download the same file
using the queue?

Do you still have that problem? Some time has passed, Unicode and UTF-8 are more and more used. Maybe the problem simply does not occur anymore?
