Floppy rattles on FileZilla startup

When I start FileZilla, it checks my floppy drive. This is giving a rattling noise, which is a bit irritating.

I had this issue with all v3 releases, but the problem didn't exist in v2.

I'm using FileZilla 3.0.6 on Windows XP SP2. Also I'm not the only one: on a dutch site there's another user experiencing it (​http://tweakers.net/meuktracker/17023/filezilla-306.html).

This known limitation in Microsoft Windows has been mentioned here already, please see the following item for details:

As this is not a real problem in FileZilla, but in the underlying operating system, it won't be fixed.

I am running Win XP Pro Sp2 (mostly updated) and Filezilla 3.1.0.1 (just installed automatically).

The explanation given here and in the referenced entry doesn't make sense. This new version and the previous version (or 2) cause the floppy to seek when Filezilla starts.

Many previous versions PRIOR to the last few did NOT do this.

Also, I have multiple windows explorers open every day, navigate files and folders, moves, deletes, creates, etc constantly. Unless I specifically select the floppy these activities NEVER cause the floppy to seek.

So how can I open the various drives, files and folder with these without causing the floppy seek yet Filezilla can't do the same?

The given explanation just doesn't seem to hold water.
