From which directory did you start FileZilla? Did you pass any custom flags to the installer?

The installer was located at "C:\Documents and Settings\lemon\æ¡Œé¢". The last two words are written in Chinese. When I moved the installer to "C:\" means the path without any Chinese word.
I did not met the error message and installed The FileZilla successfully.

Hi, I have the same problem on Windows XP SP2 Japanese version. When the installer is on the "Desktop" directory, installer says the same error. The "Desktop" path is japanese translated word, encoded in japanese SJIS multibyte encoding.
Then I looked into the installer script, and the bug seems to reside inside Nullsoft Installer. To be precisely, "GetOptions" macro in FileFunc.nsh returns bad result when multibyte-encoded path is passed. (I can confirm it with FileFuncTest.nsi)
So the solution willbe
- fix Nullsoft Installer's GetOptions macro
or
- don't use GetOptions macro

Same problem installing FileZilla_3.0.4.1_win32-setup.exe on Windows XP Home (Simplified Chinese Edition). The installer is located at C:\Documents and Settings\wenzhuo\æ¡Œé¢. It's a fatal bug because the installer cannot start to do its job.

Please try this test build: http://filezilla-project.org/nightlies2/2008-01-01/i586-mingw32msvc/FileZilla_3_setup.exe
It should fix this problem.

yes, the 2008-01-01 build has fixed the problem. Now the installer works when it is launched from "æ¡Œé¢" (Chinese for Desktop).
