Description
I've been really disappointed to see, that filezilla 3.0.8.1 misses the feature to view/edit files on the local harddisk, while there is no connection to a ftp server.
This feature already worked in filezilla 2 and I really miss it.

But there is no way to define an editor for the opening of a file inside of filezilla. Defining a standard editor for the edit-option is possible, why not for the show-option?
To make it more easy: Why is the edit-option only available online??

Because the purpose of the edit option is to edit _and_ transfer the file. For all other tasks, use your local file manager (e.g. Explorer, Konqueror, Nautilus or Finder).

Sorry, I promise that this is the last time I open this thread again ;)
I understand your intention behind the online edit option, but please see that it can be really comfortable to be able to edit the files quickly with a simple text editor from within filezilla. When I'm going to transfer files to a webserver I only want to do some quick changes in a simple text editor and not in a huge wysiwyg website editor. In case of file alteration I will have to navigate through the directories (local an remote) in filezilla anyway so why should I search the file additionally in my file manager? On the other hand there is no need to leave the ftp connection established all the time - especially some webservers are closing their connection very quickly and rigidly.
Please make the edit option available offline (in older filezilla versions that was very helpful and I'm not the only one who misses that feature!) or let me please choose a program for file opening from within filezilla. Thank you!
There is an open option that works offline.
